Mr. Hitchens, your intellect and reasoned arguments are a shining light in a long and very dark tunnel. Thank you.
Why? He's reacting to nothing.
He's an old school privaledged...that would be ok if he wasn't such a...well
Well put Paul.
Said no one ever
Beware of who you wish for! Politicians are are pretty unedifying lot..that's why they beg us to give them the job!
I'm ready to roll the dice because of his failure on Illegal immigration, economy, healthcare and much of Brexit. I'm with Mike when he says he doubts many could be worse than Boris and that this is all of his own making. Johnson has given his adversaries all the ammunition they need to bring him down... such a fool!
I'm no fan of Johnson at all and the lockdowns were clearly insanity. But compared to many countries we've had far less authoritarianism measures than nearly every other major economy with lower excess deaths.
Unless Steve Baker went for it and got it we would be doomed.
The hospitals would have been full without the lockdowns. That would have led to the same treatment backlog in the health service that we currently have, plus more people would have died from covid. You might say, "but look at Sweden". However Sweden is a considerably different place, with far less dense and more healthy population. The people are also more reserved and importantly, Sweden is not a central hub for population movement like Britain.
@@alanjenkins1508 sweden has almost identical urbanisation rate to UK and marginally lower obesity but same average age.
Also UK R number was already falling before both lockdown 1 and 3 e.g. hospitalisation peak was already baked in regardless of lockdown.
So your argument doesn't stack up I'm afraid
@@simon-ec5kv urbanisation?
Always love listening to Mike and Peter !! 😊
Boris Johnson should stay and the BBC must go sooner rather than later.
agreed.
I fully agree with Peter Hitchens reasoning. Makes a lot of sense is well thought out rational and well explained.
How about a brand new political party created by Neil Oliver and Peter Hichens...gosh, imagine having some honest people in charge!
Fantastic idea
Yes not a brain cell between them party same as all tory numptycrooked theives
Pass the sick bag are you serious
If Stammer has a coalition with the SMP which overturns the Tory majority and then, part of the deal would be Scottish independence, then when independent, the coalition would be void and the Tories would then be in the majority again. Turkey’s voting for Christmas comes to mind.
I think a coalition with the Tory smashing Lib Dems is more likely.
Boris Johnson should stay as a Labour government headed by Keir Starmer does not bear thinking about.
Right, a bloke from a council estate who's done fantastically and elevated himself versus an ultra privileged aristocrat who has failed at everything he's ever done? I know who I'm choosing.
@@stevespiers9120 so what Starmer's excuse then , his party had abandoned the working class, you could say it's worse. Boris has never been in that position, Starmer has and he rejected those people, he doesn't really like them does he.
@@davidrenton Do you ever read party manifestos or just the Daily Mail? When exactly did Labour abandon the Working Class? What is it Starmer needs an excuse for?
Keeping Boris sends out the message that the Tory party doesn't have any principles. I don't think it is an election winning message.
@@sheffieldzamo7444 The whole cabinet backed Bunter despite his corruption, criminality, dishonesty and rank incompetence. Aside from the Plan B rebels none of them deserve their seats in Parliament.
Johnson only has himself to blame to for this mess. It is his fundamental character flaws which have led him to be attackable. If he had not been a hypocrite his enemies would not have solid grounds for attacking him.
He deserves everything he is getting.
Better the beast you know imo x
Boris should secure britains borders and keep his nose out of Russia/Ukraine then maybe he will at least claw back some respect
Keeping our nose out of Europe during Hitler's expansion there didn't stop WW2. It's a rather niave proposition.
@@kevinheath7588 naive to think that wars are anything but orchestrated money makers to deflect public interest in corrupt governments
Yes well said. Ukraine can probably speak for itself. The West just can't resist trying to extend NATO right up to the Russian border. Which we promised not to do. Wonder why Russia don't trust us 🤔
Put in will be laughing at Boris dancing and listening to Carrie all day
But Ukraine is Britain's ally, agreements were made, so our government should be involved, just not with Boris.
Peter’s right that a sturgeon Starmer stitch up would be a nightmare but that’s not a reason to keep Boris. That’s a reason to get rid of him so the Tories can win.
I realise that we appear to be living in a post-principles age but I would rather like to see them make a comeback. Boris has got to go.
I believe it's known as 'The Post Truth Era' mate.
@@stevespiers9120 It's depressing isn't it?
It reminds me of when I was a kid watching old westerns where a lynch mob gathered to hang a prisoner and a few stand guard outside the jail, putting themselves in harms way, to uphold the principles of innocent until proven guilty, due process and a fair trial. Everyone back them want to grow up to be one of the principled heroes but the fact is that most people have all the character of the lynch mob participant. Everyone can see the evil that is done to anyone who dare question the narrative and most just put their and down and hope to avoid attention. Others willingly join the mob, like a pack of frenzied dogs, and get off on the power trip. Sad time... I really don't like people much at the moment.
Vote independents for a true democracy. This NHS nurse is disgusting and the very reason so many hate the NHS staff now. They are cruel and unfeeling towards the relatives of the ill.
Love Peter, BUT he is making excuses. The entire lot, including the house of FRAUDS need to be cleared out.
True but realpolitik suggests that keeping Johnson at this point may be the best option available
Thank you = Using the same dirty tricks they tried on Trump
Even more interesting is why the same treatment was dished out to both Corbyn AND Trump considering how diametrically opposed their respective politics are. 🤔
Which 'dirty trick' did the BBC use to force Boris to have parties in his garden? Do tell.
Should Boris Johnson quit?
No..
Yes because he is a born liar 🤥 how can anyone trust him , but what a choice to replace him , we are doomed 😂
Yes, or be sacked.
Yes but only after releasing the paperwork so we can all see how setting up the track and trace app cost 37 thousand million and where the other 200 billion went.
@@sonnytopboy4975 Thirty seven billion pounds. Thirty seven billion pounds. For a phone app. I just can't get my head around this level of corruption.
Mr Starmer, should examine the meaning of the word opposition. At no point did he oppose anything, nor propose anything
Mr Graham's hair looks very smart. Remember lockdown he looked like a hippy!
No, the country wasn’t fearful. The government, the press and the modellers were the only ones living in fear. The British people are made of better stuff than those supposedly representing those same people.
No they’re not. They’re weak and stupid. Half the people our ancestors were. Snitching on their own families over lockdown measures. Lapped up by the media like the docile cattle our elites call us.
@@jimmybobby4824 you speak for yourself, or those the propaganda would have you think speak for us all.
@@longbiowsix It is true. Our country is dead. Immigrants and weak liberals make up this country
@@jimmybobby4824 I think we’re somewhat in agreement about certain people, but not the majority
Under tremendous amounts of pressure. That argument could actually be used all the way up to the top and probably will be.
Peter was completely right from the very start. He has been totally vindicated.
Wrong Peter Hitchens. Wrong.... That nurse committed an evil act.... Wrong Wrong Wrong Wrong
If you want to understand what has apparently happened to Johnson since he was so convincingly elected you can sum it all up in 1 word.....
Wife....
I want Alexander Johnson to remain as Prime minister
I don't. And neither does a majority of the population of this country.
The collective is more important than the individual, which is nonsense, the collective consists entirely of different individuals with different needs
Well said, Peter. ☝️😎
Horrah it's Peter Hitchens, and for me in the last twenty two months I've lived my life in the same way, as I did before this nonsense started, sorry!!! But who made that decision from on high to stop that poor man seeing his lady wife!!! Outrageous beyond anything Paula in sussex
It is rather bad of Peter not to acknowledge that he borrowed his entire argument on the Jenny tweet from Brendan O Neil. Brendan has been wrong about a few things with regard to the pandemic, including supporting the compulsory vaccination of Care Home staff. But it was his article published a week before Peter’s which made this case originally and Peter should acknowledge it.
Could listen to PH all day.
Agree entirely. Puritanism is worse than selfish incompetence.
The BBC would like Johnson out, hoping replacement keeps us in the EU.
Problem is the UK are not in the EU.
Thank goodness.
The BBC known as The Brussels Broadcasting Corporation were a disgrace during Brexit to their own country & the voters of this Country.
Conservatives the ‘not labour party’..
Peter Hitchens brings sense to a mad country.
Hey, Hitchens. How about we hold our PMs to an even modest level of integrity, and expect them to lead by example. Dismissing egregious acts due to the fear of the alternative will chock our country and fates into the dustbin of history. Let's not settle. BOJO must go.
Sick of hearing about it
The behaviour is plain as day. 1.25% iirc on a tax. Are we not aware of the cost of living for some ppl? I guarantee you the homeless aren't your friends.
Stop putting the word gate on the end of anything remotely out of the ordinary in politics FFS W⚓ S.
It dates back to President Nixons "Watergate"
Do like Mr Hitchens. Make BBC subscription service, make it compete .Not been impartial for decades
What is he talking about. Stammer who I am no fan of used the message not to say Johnson was right or wrong for lockdiown but because he was legally insisting the publuc did it while he was not.
It's still unclear if Johnson actually broke the law.
Didn't Starmer who reinforced the lock down message and in fact wanted more restrictions do exactly the same thing at a constituency office ?
Both are hypocrites but only one offered any sort of apology.
@@patricklee6206 no starmer was drinking inside whereas Boris was outside
His birthday celebration was in doors . However when Starmer criticised Boris after his own soiree was publicized he didn't know that.
@@patricklee6206 I'm tended to agree with the view that a surprise 20 min thing in the office is not a party. If he had people round that night indoors, I guess it's a rule breach.
This conversation between 2 rich ppl is Moot.
I do love Peter Hitchens, if I had one wish, it would not be money, or fame or even Nigel Farage as world king. But instead the opportunity to smoke inordinate amounts of cannabis with him until we devise a master plan for saving the United Kingdom.
Mr Hitchens has "views" on the sacred weed, unfortunately.
@@lesmup2159 I know, he really aught to try some. I wonder if he ever has
Least useful suggestion in 2022.
@@AndrewLale You’re welcome
He certainly has. He went full on reefer madness on that subject.
Make it to easy if he resigns.
Peter Hitchens is a gatekeeper. Simple as.
No he isn’t.
And a Blue Bolshevik!
. Nothing irritates me more than people commenting that iris is the best on offer... Pathetic... Its like when Diana wanted to cancel the wedding and her sisters told her that it was too late as her face was on the tea cloths.... Another disaster that could have been averted...
Left wing government which I don't like. Spoken by a true prat Left wing. Right wing. Take your pick. Because they are owned by the same people they will game you either WAY
Graham makes the salient point. Even if BJ goes then someone who has become less than an electoral liability will step up. Things will settle down and Labour will, thankfully, be frozen out again.
Why do they call him Boris the bullet dodger?
???? 🤷♂️ because he dodge’s bullets
I could send pictures and emails make people proof it by coming out.

Yes obviously orchestrated by the BBC when original story was broken by ITV and Daily Mirror and the car crash interview was with Beth Rigby of Sky. Hitchens talks complete crap as always. Fat Oaf Mike Graham is about as entertaining as piles.
