I’ve said this everywhere so far; Elgato got so tired of people asking what mic arm was being used in promotional images and decided to just make one themselves.
A friend of mine just linked me this, and I instantly pulled the trigger. My friend immediately recognized this as a Go-to product. Running a 45" ultrawide on a Secret Labs Magnus makes mic mounting a HUGE pain. I feel smarter now :) Thank you.
Thanks for the video! I was having a rough time figuring out how to make the LP work with my Shure SM7B smoothly, but having the visual demos of it up and running in this video helped a lot.
My Wave Mic Arm LP arrived today, I'm super impressed. A second hole on the underside of the arm to connect the XLR cable to the microphone (the XLR connector on my microphone is under the arm) would have been nice to route the cable more neatly. But otherwise a very nice arm. Cleans up the setup extremely.
yeah they are currently backordered. i placed my order on the 16th of July and after two weeks of waiting , mine finally shipped yesterday, but the website is still out of stock because the ones being made are for those who have intially ordered the product, but yeah its a good arm
I had to come back and say my Elgato arm came in today and although it does get my arm mostly below my shot I do not recommend it as it has no up and down pivot without adjusting the plastic thumb screw that barely tightens enough after straining to secure it. Also because this piece is plastic I can see it breaking with much use. Elgato failed with the LP. We need an up and down movement to be free with some type of tensioning like on a monitor arm. PLEASE UPDATE this product.
This, 100%. I was considering getting the OC White Proboom Ultima, but Elgato comes and drops the mic with this. I already purchased Wave Arm LP, and can't wait.
I bought an arm basically just like this a year ago, and there is one thing I'd ask you to consider. If you could make a height extension pole accessory to raise the height of the base of the arm which allows clearance, and also allows you to position the arm pretty much horizontally to your mouth. I wanted an arm style exactly like this but they were low profile so I went out of my way to find an arm of this design where the entire arm was higher off the table. I specifically didn't want the other style of arm. I was looking more in depth at both arms and noticed you have a detachable riser for your other mic arm, this looks compatible for the low profile arm but might not be. If you made the detachable riser compatible for both arms then this would be amazing. You don't seem sell the riser separately so to find out you'd have to buy both.
@@cyberneticwarmachine It's not an extension pole, its a metal riser bar that slots into the clamp on the table, then the mic arm slots into the riser bar. They already make them for the other mic arm. An extension pole wouldn't hold the torsion of a mic arm when you move it. It has to be rock solid
Now is the time when I wish I could post pictures for comments. I literally fabricated this exact arm from a spare monitor stand arm, but the catch is I was able to attach it to the current monitor stand pole. I actually posted a video on it back in Feb, it now has the Elgato Wave 3 on it instead of the AT2005USB. But depending on the price of this I might have to pick it up because I'm thinking about a different monitor setup.
Yep that's what brought me here! And the OC White is mostly plastic (this one's metal), and doesn't include the desk clamp (this one does). No brainer!
It’s interesting in the thumbnail the monitor looks pretty high up since it appears to clear both pieces of the mic arm but the tallest factory stands available don’t usually crack more than 5 inches off the surface of the desk. I’m confused as it’s supposed to be somewhat low profile
I just ordered mine yesterday and this sh*t is comin' straight from Taiwan!!! I imagine it's gonna take a month or so. Stock your sh*t in the United States yo!!!!
I litterly ordered the O.C. White Ultima Gen2 LP from B&H in the US for $505 (€427). Luckly a mate pointed towards the release of this mic arm. Ordered it right away and canceled the Ultima 👍🏻 Thx Elgato for saving me €327!
Yep just brought that same mic arm so I have mixed feelings. On one hand I wish I could have saved that money but the reason I got the OC in the 1st place over the Vivio was the build quality of the OC and the ability for customization. At the end of the day I'm shoot happy with my OC White and I'm not looking back. With that being said if I need a second arm this Elgato LP is the way ill probably will go
@@BryceCherrytree thanks for replying. One reviewer said the magnetic plates hiding the cables pop off easily when moving the arm around as the XLR cable flexes and pops them out. Have you found that to be the case?!
@@137dylan I got the Wave:3 and not XLRs, so I can't judge on that part, but for the Wave:3s I have had no issues with cabling or the magnetic plates what so ever.
My funny on going story. I ordered this from Amazon and it had to be shipped from the UK, waited weeks and was given a delivery date for January 28th. The last scan was on the 21st of January, and they still can’t find it. Went to our local Best Buy and to my surprise they had one in stock. Now I’m debating if I want two or a refund, that is if they can actually find it 😊
This looks amazing but the clamp it too small for my desk. For my master mount system I just got the heavy base. Can you guys make a clamp that’s a hair bit bigger than 3 inches? Or is this compatible with a heavy base system??
From my understanding, the heavy base is made for multi mount and flex arms, the amount of weight you can place on the end depends on how far out the extensions of the arms are as well as the total weight on the end of the arm, as far as I know, the mic arm cannot be attached to the multi mount system and most certainly would be too heavy for the 10 lb weighted base, how thick is your desk? Hope this helps.
Waiting for a version 2 of this. This model has a big flaw, the magnetic top cover keep popping off, I had to use a tap and a cable tie to prevent it from popping off. They should have a better implementation. I don't think magnet is a good idea even if they made it stronger. The cable channel should be from the bottom so it will look neater than from the top.
Looking at your comments did you get a black one and then a white one and they’re fundamentally the same, apart from stronger magnets on the white? Have you thought about putting something like a small piece of rubber inside the ball socket so it grips a bit better?
I have a VIVO arm like this but I will definitely be switching to the LP. My only concern is the ball clamp head, I have issues with the Master Mount and extensions using the ball clamps really needing to be hulked tight in order to support the weight of each piece plus whatever gear is mounted on them. Even my Keylight Air's can cause them to droop if I don't absolutely tighten the bejeezus out of them... Which makes me not have faith that after a handful of adjustments of my SM7B that the LP's ball head would continue to work....
I got mine today and I have a wave 3 with a shock mount and pop filter and even though that's still lighter than the limit it seems to just weigh it down too much, and I dont want to sacrifice either :C
