I've heard two people say something I consider profoundly true about wrinkles and it stuck with me. One was: "I have lines on my face now. I have earned them." And the other was even better: "Wrinkles are a record of every smile." While I've never been too bothered about wrinkles myself, I think these two perspectives are wonderful 😊
3 for me, (1) concealer just where needed, (2) blush, and (3) soft lip liner/gloss are a must! Also a little definition to my eyes with bronzer and I am set!
Dr. Shereene Idriss (board certified derm here on RUclips) always champions the idea that it’s not a lack of *wrinkles* that makes us look young, it’s an even complexion. And she’s so right! I would also say that the quality of the hair makes a significant difference in the perception of health and youth.
I know she does, but I notice it's always people in their thirties who don't have any wrinkles yet, who claim that. I don't see anyone in their fifties or older who say that wrinkles don't matter.
The reason I follow you is bc you describe the products, how to use them and the effects. I've had large dark circles under the eyes since my teen years. The absolute best concealer I've ever used is from Sisley. Yes, it is expensive, but it is the best. I am so glad you covered the waterline bc mine is red and this really shows when I use concealer.
I’m 62 and like a more natural look as I get older so I gave this look a try today and I really like it. I generally wear more foundation so I’ll have to get used to using less and spreading it out but my skin really does look much more real. Thank you for this great video!
I love all of your make up tutorials but this one is my favorite. Having mature skin I found the least amount of make up looks youthful, natural and relatable.
Loved this video Andrea! Thank you! I have quite even skin (I work very hard for it) so I only conceal darkness under my eyes and use my skincare & sunscreen to highlight the quality of my skin. I think having even, bouncy, hydrated complexion and lips is the key!!
You are an amazing teacher!!! I love your honesty, simplicity, humor, and of course incredible expertise. I am grateful. I have learned so much from you. Light eye makeup and always mascara. I am 68 and people have a hard time believing it. You are the best!!!

You are so right, Andreea! Complexion makes a huge difference. I recently used Lactic Acid. My skin texture is smoother. I received a compliment at work, how good my skin looked. I'm 50, with oily skin, and decided to ditch the hair dye. What looks great, and more fresh/youthful if you have grey hair, is groomed/defined brows and a bright lip. Love your look, your skin looks amazing with our without make up 😊
Love your outfit! 🤩 Honestly, what makes me look younger is wearing a cap or a hat! 😂 The reason is because of the shade it provides over my eyes so my puffyness don't get so prominent. Makeupwise I do almost excactly what you did, but I also tightline on the upper rim with a dark brown, and make a tiny smudged wing.
I agree with this 200%. I’m 47 and I follow several RUclipsrs in their 40’s, 50’s and up to 60. You can really see how the right base makes the biggest difference when they apply their makeup. Once the complexion is even, you can look 10 years younger! Thanks for another great tutorial, Andreea!
Hello Andreea, I do agree that the basis of youthful skin is largely based on what you put on it before you apply the makeup. Then definitely less is more. I upped my game on skin care when I reached 40 after I had my twins and am so glad I did. I'm 66 now and my complexion is so much healthier now than in my 20s! I have lines but I don't mind as that shows my personality. Also, you are right the colour and placement plays a big part in the overall look of vitality or being over done and looking more aged. Thoroughly enjoyed this morning's video and have gained some more amazing, but simple tips to improve my make-up techniques. Thank you. You look beautiful as usual, with and without make-up. Beautiful skin. Love Janet x
Great look! Gorgeous as usual! I really think I look younger with less eyeshadow, I still wear it but I try not to over use it. Also the blush changes everything! Thanks Andrea.
I’ve just turned 30 and this video is just what I need right now. It felt like over night I suddenly got fine lines everywhere and I cannot wear what I used to be able to wear. It’s like starting all over again and you have been a light ❤
I’ve been having the same experience although I’m 28. Three kids and running a business does that to you too I guess 😂 finding my skin is so dry, my face just doesn’t hold makeup well anymore. It really is like having to start all over again in the makeup journey.
Cream blush and highlighter carefully placed. . And a little bronzer. I’m 65 and they are the game changer. Eyebrows are very important too. I use a little foundation/nars concealer and powder to even out my eyelid tone. It’s BYterry powders are absolutely fab. Blurring and not dry/cakey.
I purchased the VBB highlighting stick based on one of your previous videos, and I have to say it is by far one of my best purchases. I am 66 years old, and still have very oily skin, so finding something that I can add to my matte makeup to give me a glow without looking unnatural is exactly what I needed. Thank you Andreea!!!!!
I get the most compliments when I wear pink and fuschia. I am 60 years old and just graduated Aesthetician school. I always use sunscreen. I do have telangiectasia. I enjoy your videos. I always learn something new. You are beautiful ❤
Congratulations Jeanne do you intend to work in beauty aesthetics ? I trained years ago but never worked,I'm 63 and I would love to repeat course. Jennifer
I love your tips and expertise. This is the first time I have ever seen a color/shade which doesnt seem to match your skin tone. The blush is so cool, it seems to stand out. To me you look better in a warmer tone.
Love your teaching! You’re absolutely right that skin is everything! My struggle is I’m 62 and still have oily skin and live in a humid climate. So I have to wear powder or makeup slides off my face. Striking the right balance is very difficult. But I also feel the eyes are so important. Now at 62, my eyes are more hooded, and my upper waterline has become more exposed… on many people it starts to flip, meaning it’s visible. Tight lining my eyes transforms my look. I have blue eyes and use soft brown or gray, and try to make the outer edge tilt upward/ outward a bit to get a lift , but working around eyecreases is a challenge. I keep the inner third bright and use soft, matte shades only on the outer third above my crease. I have to work hard to accept my face as it is and not constantly compare myself to someone as young as you! Gotta keep it real. Thank you for your wonderful tips!
Andrea, since I discovered you ( years ago) I learned so much from you and I believe my makeup looks so much better now. I totally agree with you that our skin makes us look younger or older. I am 43 and I love my age and how I look and the knowledge I got from your videos helps me to look 43 and beautiful, so huge THANK YOU ❤️
That's another wonderful video, thank you. I am 38 years old, living in NY (NY does NOT like make up, people are on top of each other already, so no-one wants too much of you, haha) and I've borrowed so many of your tips. My friends always say-how do you look so fresh? By using small amounts of blush, and highlight in my favor, and by utilizing a "baby" amount of powder only where I need it. THANK YOU SO MUCH, I learned so much from you!!!
Yes! At 51, this is the look I long to get with my makeup. Less is more and I think that it not only a more youthful look but, also a more chic, sophisticated look that can be wore no matter the occasion. Thank you, Andrea, for this video. You are a "shade sister," so all the products you mentioned I will definitely be getting.
For the youthfull look, I think that the most important of all is the skin, the base, a healthy radiant skin. I also want to say that I recently found your channel and i am very excited, i love the way you explain so many things to us and also i am very happy that the make up you recomment is normal, it is light and it is simple and easy to do! Bisous from Greece 💕
Sure concealer and a light fresh color on the lip are my important easy steps to do. Your Lips look so natural defined and the blurred look i love. Thanks!
Andrea, I knew nothing about doing make up on myself untill I stumbled upon your viral video of the contrast of how most do makeup vs how one should do. Since then, I’ve followed you and learned from you. I don’t wear colours much just mostly this kind of simple makeup and when I do, a get compliments for the glam. All thanks to you 💕
Thank you for this! Really appreciate the reminder on not too much foundation. I’m 46 and I find even just some lip balm and brushing my eyebrows with some clear gel can make a huge difference. But every tip you gave was excellent, I’m going to try some of them, thank you!
Being a very youthful 71 yr. old, on a daily basis I’ve been using tinted sunscreen, little blush & always lipstick w/lined lips 😉. Glasses during the day, so no eye makeup and don’t always do brows but feel brows definitely pulls everything together to look more polished. Thank u as always, luv your tutorials 💕
For me personally the perfect product to make my skin looking fresh and dewy is cream highlighter- same Victoria Beckham pearl or Westman Atelier ones are amazing too.
I have under eye hollows and always have. I use the YSL touche eclat after you recommended it in an old video, just along the hollow as you showed in this video and it's such a game changer. It looks so natural, I never had luck with concealer until this technique! You are the GOAT makeup artist, can't wait to try some of these other tips! ❤
Beautiful and awesome tips! I always enjoy your videos but this one was particularly timely. Skincare is so critically important in order for makeup to look extra good as we age - I’m so happy that you always put that focus in all your tutorials! 💛
I am 57 years old and it's how I treat my skin from the inside that makes me look the youngest. I also come from a very young looking family so genetically I am fortunate. I do a cleanse twice a year that lasts from 5 to 7 days and by the end my skin is glowing. When I was younger and I did my cleanse my friends swore I must be pregnant, now I just look younger when I do a cleanse. If I use makeup that is glowy and a little bit dewy I look like I am in my 30's (that's what my new hairstylist thought). I do botox once a year and I just had my upper eye lids done last year so that is helping me look younger. Luckily I don't know how to contour so I guess I am on the right path. The collagen on my eye sockets are disappearing so thank you for these tricks to use to camouflage dark eye circles. I also find having an up to date haircut and shiny hair looks youthful. Dressing in a classic but fashionable way helps give off a youthful persona (avoid being too trendy).
I have no doubt you look good, but I'm also sure you don't look like you're in your 30's. Also, most of the people that think they look younger, actually 200% look their age.
I switched to low contrast more sheer colours. So browns instead of black, a sheer smudged lipstick, pencil eyeliner instead of liquid. Loved this videos! Thank you so much!
I always mix my foundation with the Chanel micro finish serum, or any hyaluronic acid serum. My makeup always looks incredibly natural and skin like. I’m 31 years old and I’m also a model. Most people I model with think I’m younger than them. But yes taking super good care of the skin, eating healthy, drinking lots of water, reducing stress are all of my secrets to looking super youthful
Thank you great tips and tricks ....yes I do agree that the skin is very important and how the concealers and foundations are applied makes a huge difference ..
Hi Andreea. Finally had a moment to watch. I am 58, and my skin is really good and healthy. My eyes show age the most, in my opinion. If I do not use a dark color in the crease, or rather right above, my hooded eyes swallow my whole lid. The darkness adds depth. Blush is essential!❤
I’m learning so much from your tutorials, love your style and this last tutorial is full of information! Thanks Andrea! Would you please recommend more foundations for mature combo skin?!
It was affirming to see the blush application, one of my current obsessions. Great to see the lip color as well. My go to is always saturated lip color because i love color, but a more natural application is an important tool for your makeup bag.
I love this makeup look so much. You are amazing and I have learned so much from your videos. I prefer the ‘less is more’ approach as it is definitely better for my 55 year old face!!! Thank you for all your amazing advice 💕💕
Your class, elegance and competence go beyond any social media trend and phenomenon! I started following you years ago and I still dream of having you doing my bridal makeup one day!
Thank you so much! I look younger if I have a fresh hair + even skin tone. That's the most important things. And a small amount of mascara (even without the liner!) makes a huge difference.
Yes, a light hand is essential. In my late 50s, dark blonde with a warm, peachy skin tone. I love the Nars eye brightener which I use on my lids and under eyes - better texture and luminescence than concealer - and also now find that a very fine black eye pencil close to the upper lash and waterline gives me back some of the indiscernible definition I’ve lost. I use lip pencil and tinted lip oils now that don’t fall in the creases. I’ve tried so many cream and liquid blushes and find the Daniel Sandler water blush stays on a bit better than most. Powder - yes sparingly - the Prisme Libre absolutely helps with blurring texture and evening out around eyes and nose. I have always loved makeup but less is so much more now, thank you so much for your work Andrea.
I loved this video, thank you. I agree with everything you said. My absolute must is cream blush, it never fails to add that pop of colour and youthfulness to my face xx
Thanks for this. Most useful video I’ve seen for me from you for a while. You really explained using the sweed which I’ve obviously been using too much. Also just reinforcing and repeating techniques really helpful. Thanks I needed this , again!
I had almost similar facial structure with you as 35+ caucassian mix chinese. My go to youthful appearance : tinted + mac foundation lightly, sunburn blush style, korean browshape + thin sirene eyeliner looks + voluminous mascara. People always thought I'm in my 20's.🎉
Yes! Thats exactly how I do my makeup everyday! I am fair with dark hair and blue eyes, olive undertone. My skin looks pale, dull and a bit tired without the makeup. I love the trick with blush on the eyes, its so subtle and yet very effective. Also I like to tap some cream highlighter on my cheeks as a last step. And some CT setting spray to bring it all together❤
At 52 my skincare routine is the first step to a more youthful look. I agree that a foundation to even out the skin and blush to bring in some color to the skin are key to a more youthful look. I also find that a cream highlighter to the top of my cheekbones make them look more full, rounded and again more youthful. I also enjoy a very precise eyeliner on the outer edge of my eyes, tight lining and lining in between the lashes give me the appearance of fuller lash line.
This is a beautiful look on you!!! I’ve just turned 60 on the 25th of July. For me it’s a little bit of everything really. My brows need a little help and I definitely need a little eyeliner and mascara is a must. I have hooded eyes and the are also deepset. For my base a skintint. And also concealer is a must because of the blue circles. And ALWAYS a (faded) lipliner for me. And a bit of color on the lips. Lately I use the ultra violette lipbalm in a reddish colour or the brown one. A natural look overall I would say. But blush is always part of my ritual. ❤❤ your tutorials. Yours and Lisa’s (Eldridge) are my favs!!! Have a beautiful Sunday Andreea and enjoy!!! ☀️😍👍🍹
Your wealth of knowledge on makeup and skin is absolutely commendable. The only make up artist who I’ll listen to because you actually make sense. I’ve never matched my face to my neck either because it just looks off. Brighter skin is more youthful skin.
Such a great tutorial Andreea. Luminosity makes for a more youthful look but not shine for me. I make sure my nose and around the mouth aren’t shiny, that’s very ageing on me. Concealer always on shadows and lots of tapping to make sure it’s blended in before powder. Powder a must always in the centre. I find your lip tips invaluable, I spend time with a lip pencil and then soften edges with powder until I get my lips corrected and even and then I colour in, this makes for a more youthful lip…you taught me that! Eyebrows have to be addressed always. I do find a little pencil smudging across my eye lashes is helpful, no pencil and my eyes look very small with only mascara. Finding the right pencil is a challenge, CT natural pencil is the only one I can work with for this. Blush 100% needed, holding my mirror side on and keeping it high on the cheeks helps me for application. My best tools are magnifying mirrors 10 & 15 x hand mirrors for inspection. You’re the best teacher. Thank you ❤
I was about to comment almost the same. I'm 37 and I'd say a dewy blush is what makes me appear more youthful. I highly recommend the makeup by Mario blushes. I sort of stamp them on with a beauty blender. For me personally I like a higher on the cheek placement. ☺ ✨
Make up no make up makes me look younger. If I apply eyeshadow, it would be pearl / light pink one. And only a little bit of almost invisible lip gloss or balm. I also avoid powder on under eye area.
I feel my most important item of makeup is blusher followed by lipstick and I’m nearly 80 ! Xx

Because of you and your videos I think I learned to do my makeup. Thank you ❤ I can't wait every Sunday to watch your video!
Jennifer
@jennifermccullough775 Thank you so much!!!
@jennifermccullough775 I am going to work privately, yes. You should go back.
I am 43 and I love my age and how I look and the knowledge I got from your videos helps me to look 43 and beautiful, so huge THANK YOU ❤️
All of your makeup tutorials are just fantastic , so educational and therefore always so helpful !
Excellent video! Almost seems youthful makeup and natural makeup looks could be synonymous…..which makes sense. Beautiful tutorial; thank you.
The bronzer really brought it all together! Beautiful.
All thanks to you 💕
Warming up my skin with the exact bronzer you used, makes me look a million % better. Loved this video so much!!
I’m 26 and i ain’t clicking out of hereeee😂❤ btw Andrea glossier stretch foundation serves all of that u should try it❤
Thank you for this!
Andrea, love this look. Thank you!🙏🏻💕
You are beautiful inside and out. Blessings 🙏🏻
Beautiful and awesome tips! I always enjoy your videos but this one was particularly timely. Skincare is so critically important in order for makeup to look extra good as we age - I’m so happy that you always put that focus in all your tutorials! 💛
The makeup is so beautiful as usual. You're such a beautiful and elegant woman, I love watching your videos
❤❤❤
😂😂😂
I have no doubt you look good, but I'm also sure you don't look like you're in your 30's. Also, most of the people that think they look younger, actually 200% look their age.
What is in your 5-7 day cleanse?
What is your cleanse that you do?
I switched to low contrast more sheer colours. So browns instead of black, a sheer smudged lipstick, pencil eyeliner instead of liquid. Loved this videos! Thank you so much!
I always mix my foundation with the Chanel micro finish serum, or any hyaluronic acid serum. My makeup always looks incredibly natural and skin like. I’m 31 years old and I’m also a model. Most people I model with think I’m younger than them. But yes taking super good care of the skin, eating healthy, drinking lots of water, reducing stress are all of my secrets to looking super youthful
@RivyO, what does hyaluronic acid do to your foundation? Very interesting, Thank you !
@@adoreu7790 it makes it more skin like and thinner. Sort of like a tinted moisturizer but even more undetectable
57yrs old & never contoured. I've only ever used blush to enhance. I think I look fresh 😽
I think the blush placement across the cheeks and on the nose gives a youthful look. And the foundation/skin. I wish you could do my makeup:)
This is very very useful for me (52), thank you for all of your precious advice, always sooo goood! Thank you Andreea!
Things that help my routine look more youthful are skin prep, products with luminosity, eyebrows (I get mine laminated to help lift) and blush.
I love this look so much! Gorgeous. Thank you, Andreea ♥️ I needed this, since I’m in my early 40s.
I had almost similar facial structure with you as 35+ caucassian mix chinese. My go to youthful appearance : tinted + mac foundation lightly, sunburn blush style, korean browshape + thin sirene eyeliner looks + voluminous mascara.
People always thought I'm in my 20's.🎉
loved this, you explain it so well, great look
Excellent tutorial. Thank you so much for explaining all the steps. You are the best❤️
i love your bare skin without filter!!! showing the reality to the world, skin would age, wrinkle , pigmented and such!!
Thank you ❤
Mrs. Andreea, sunscreen...you nailed it! Thank you and your team for your terrific tutorials. Love from Texas/lorena
Love you! Always appreciate how you share with us and your warm & bright & lovely energy!!!
For me the game changer is blush and mascara ❤
At 62 I find dewy blush makes all the difference. That and the placement of the blush. Like the boyfriend look!
CC
Your tips are so valuable and so on point. I love watching you and I love you!
I have had my eyebrows micro bladed v naturally and it is life changing!
