You literally explained the most difficult thing in art for me in 8 minutes better than some 30 minutes long videos and articles, you sir, truly are a master, no, that's wrong, you are the *sir*
Just going to put it there, but maybe it is because the people who do make 30 minutes terminology is a big part of it. Marco bucci explains it in 10, with terminology.
This is probably the best, straight-to -the-point explanation video on youtube. Not just about drawing but in general. Most of other videos explaining unnecessary things or explaining things so slow like to a toddler. Applaud to you, Sir
Ive been back to actively learning art for the last 6 years now and really needed to hear that last bit about shading being all how you want. When I was in grade 9 my art teacher more or less ruined art for me when she wouldnt let me shade the way I wanted (now mind you I was also struggling with fundamentals and was too ignorant to see how much you need those, so thats on me), I was constantly expected to draw realism when I dont have any interest in drawing realism, and it killed my desire to learn how to shade and ultimately to improve my art, and here I am years later basically being told by this video that as long as you have the fundamentals it doesnt matter how simple you shade thanks for that Marcel, im gonna keep that close in my art journey
I really hate that people like this can be teachers. Especially in a class like art, which is supposed to be less academic/work-intensive, it’s a crazy thing to wanna control and/or ruin how people do their art.
Never be afraid to "Ramble." I've sat here for over an hour watching your videos and that has been the section of video that is my favorite. Art is you... you decide what to create. That is what will make you whole.♡ Much love from America♡♡♡
I’m new to art, recently took it as therapy to deal with mental health issues and tinnitus due to military service. And your videos are some of the most helpful I’ve found as someone who has 0 experience and absolutely no education when it comes art. I absolutely love your accent BTW. And I love how you break things down to help viewers understand and you get straight to the point. Love love love what you do and the way you do it ❤ 👏
As a beginning artist who is very intimidated by shading, THANK YOU! I appreciate this video, especially the end part that teaches it's OKAY to have simple shading, as long as you like your own art. 💖🌞
The shading is one of the most important part of art, I had problems understanding how to do it, this video showed everything one needs to understand this topic, you explained it with your video very well my man, great job, keep it up mate, thanks for the video.
I thought art was this talent you had to be born with and cultivate over time In order to be truly good. But at 26, I understand that the countless hours of practice until your eyes strain far exceeds any talent people think you may or may not have. So thank you Sir, for your continued hard work for us and yourself. ❤
I wasn’t understanding shadows until I saw this video, I saw some other videos explaining it but they either were too long or didn’t get to the point, but you did what other videos didn’t, thank you sir.
These videos are also for the people from the German channel helpful, because you added some information and the editing is on an other level. Big thumbs up from me.
You artwork classes are super awesome Sir! Your English is far better and vivid. Thank you so much for teaching awesome artworks for FREE. God bless you Sir. I truly don't have words to thank you.
I'm self taught with pretty much everything i've done with art but shading is where i'm having to go look for help. I am being told so many different things about which ways to do shading like which is right or wrong so I guess that last thing you said really helped with that. This video was just very useful and I think the bounce light part is going to make my shading better so thank you lots!
Dude you are incredible for so many reasons. Thank you for helping keep me motivated. Your English is perfect by the way, had you not mentioned it being "broken" in this video I would have never questioned it as one of your primary languages. Please keep making content.
I had an art teacher that told me when I was younger that my drawing was ridiculous and infantile. I was nine. After that I never more tried to draw nothing. just recently I started again and thank you so much for pointing that out. Made a difference for me.
That teacher is what you might call an "a-hole". You don't listen to those. Do what you love. I wish I had back when I got discouraged. Aaaand this was 5 months ago. Well wishes to your growth.👍
Thanks for the tutorial teaching man. I've always been scared to do art simply because I was taught how the teachers in your video have phrased it. I'm still very new to learning how to draw. 3 days new actually. Thanks for the videos and I can't wait for more :D
i was on a loooong ass break from art and was back a few days ago being inspired from your videos, cant say nothing else but you in these few days thought me way more about art then i have learned in my whole life. THANKS for that
This video was worth the watch. Also, I agree that shading is up to the artist. People don’t have to follow every art technique ever to draw what they like if they don’t want to.
I decided to learn how to draw a few days ago and man your channel is so incredible! I'm gonna do every tutorial you made. I love how you explain things. Thank you so much for sharing your knowledge and make it so simple to understand! Straight to the point. Infinite love from France.
Art is subjective. You should draw what you like. I hated art for the past 2 years, and i am starting to get into it again. Thank you so much, really you have no clue how excited i am after hearing these words to get drawing. But this time, it would be my way. Hopefully, this will make my design reach my end as well.
I am 31 years old. I worked in the medical field, I was a pastry chef and I was in the navy. For years I did what others told me I should do instead of doing what I always wanted and that was draw. “You’ll never make money as an artist”. Now I’m finally in art school and 2 years ago before I decided to go a friend of mine who is an art school grad said “don’t let your art professors destroy your style.” The end of your video is definitely the most important part because I can feel that happening to me. I’m losing my art style because they’re telling me what I’m doing is “wrong”. I don’t regret art school because I’ve learned so much but I’ve learned as many bad things as I’ve learnt good ones. Thanks Marcel.
As an art teacher in the states, thanks. This was an amazing video. However, some schools / teachers might not want to play because of the two swear words. I look forward to more videos.
thanks for teaching us how to practice art instead of just telling us to just practice, i stayed till the end and you inspired me to keep going. thank you so much.
Great video! Thank you! Especially the last part of the video. I was one of those students who lost enthusiasm for art because my own style wasn't encouraged. Thanks!
Thank you so much for your videos! You have no idea how much you have been helping me improve my own artistic talents!! This shading video truly helped a lot. Since I didn't know much about shading and bounce light.. It made sooo much more sense. Lol. Thank you so much! And please, keep the videos coming! ❤❤

This helped me so much, I love art but I am not so good at at 3d or multidimensional drawing or painting. Also shading, I learned so much listening and watching. Thank you so much for creating this content for us. ❤💜💙
This video is wonderful, I am so glad to have found this video! I have recently just joined my school’s extra art subject, I thought I could draw whatever I want but it seems like I was wrong. They wanted realism drawings and I don’t do realism especially the shading and details so I am really glad to watch this video! Thank you sir! ✍🏻✨💖

They sound lazy. Or wise, since smart people know when to defer to experts.

A very good video, and your most valid point is the part about having to like your own pictures. No point otherwise. Thank you for the lesson.
This video gave me so much motivation and that ending really boosts my confidence. Thank for making such a short yet extremely helpful tutorial.
Thanks Marcel, I've now totally understood how shadow works in drawings and has added to my knowledge!!💫👌🏾
