for those who draw shades in a dark tone or at least look too dark : 1.try to not put much pressure to your pencil, if it still does you might want to change the pencil. 2. you can make your drawing less dark by shading only half the drawing ,although you should try and balance it.

Wow. Thank you so much for making this video. I could never really figure out the shading. This helped immensely. Not only did I understand the basics but I feel like I got more than I was expecting.
Thank you. Finally a video that actually explains shading. I got fed up with looking at clips that had shading in the title but only dealt with blending. Then I found this clip and in simple terms you explained the basics of how light works and how it creates the places on an object where light and dark are, and how to use that info to bring life to a drawing. Now if I could only find a clip that explains simply how to draw the creases and folds in material. When I try to draw them it ends up looking like a 3 year old held the pen in its mouth and went to town on the picture. Again, thank you.

Thanks! Ive always wanted to show the fire stick thingy in a video haha. Finally found an appropriate way to use it. If you try it, be careful with the end that you throw away - I left it on my sketchbook for a minute and it burned through 2 layers! Yikes!

Read it in this order: 1, 3, 4, 5, 6, 2, Extra step
Copycat
Im sorry im kinda burnt i dont get it. Why type it in one order then say read it in a different order.
I mean in the end you still give up on life on either 1.2.3.4.5.6 extra or 1.3.4.5.6.2 extra
@@breeannalyy nah you don't sound stupid😂🌺 explaining is a good thing😁🌺
That apple drawing is far better than anything I could ever do after the first 10 or 15 seconds!
Cheers - Mike.
This tutorial is sooo good, I use it for my class. As a life long artist, I was the art student today when I showed it to my class. Thank you!!
Were your fingers locked while watching ?
I'm terrible with pressure control.
I can't even sketch lightly >~<
Edit: I finished he tutorial and my apple looks terrible, but at least I tried x'D
I gave up half way and drew a sphere instead
Use a 2H to sketch,if you press to hard it digs into the paper but if you lightly sketch, the lines are barely visible and easily blended.
I've never understood what the highlight is until you explained it 😂 thanks so much you have the best explanation of this topic period 😊
I am so thankful to you for helping me to start , I have followed you long back and i know how much effort you put in your video. thank you so much for your tutorials.

kakashi copier of 1000 techniques lol.
This is an in-depth explanation completely lacking the 'intimidation' factor. Thanks!!!
Thank you so much for the advice! This video helped in everyway! I used to get confused about the lighting angles and now I understand. Thank you very much
This was very helpful. I didn’t realize how much I was “heavy handed” until I started these techniques.

Dang! I might get back to art, this video made me learn quite a few things. Thanks!
did you ever get back into art?
thanks you for an excellent tutorial, I struggle with shading and this was helpful.
The thumbnail is all like: "How to Shade Beginners"
Me: "lol throwing shade on beginners is easy."
Title: ‘how to shade beginners’
Me: oh so she’s gonna shade me!
Doesn’t make sense
Thumbnail, like look at the thumbnail
HA. HA... HA...

I thought so too! When she scribbled over it I was like: 😧
Thank you so much, I was having some trouble with lighting and the way you broke down the elements that compose light and dark I was able to understand what I was doing

Excellent instructor. I have never produced anything even close to what I have achieved following several of these videos. Thank you!

no offense but it would be better if you said My Brain: Laughs in corner

Wow. Thank you so much for making this video. I could never really figure out the shading. This helped immensely. Not only did I understand the basics but I feel like I got more than I was expecting.
Same
Thanks mam, got a good understanding of shadows n lighting now.. This will improve my drawing.😃
I tried it. I failed XD But it turned out well never thought drawing an apple would be so hard though
Yeah, I never thought so...
This helped so much and shading is something I’ve always struggled with, thank you
*when you get that feeling that you can draw but then when you start drawing you lose your self esteem just because you messed up on something*

6B is so satisfying to use though. It's like drawing with a piece of butter. HB feels really hard after it.
@KFC entertainment hehe
Thank you so much. I learnt in 10 minutes about how to get consistent shading, what I didn't in two months (working with someone).. Thanks for breaking it down to three elements that go into getting the shading right.. grateful indeed!!
“It doesn’t have to be perfect at all”
So is it okay if it looks like it got run over by a car, sliced into a million pieces, burnt into ashes, the ashes then added to water, the water being drunk by someone and then pissed out and gone into the sewers and scooped up by a dog and spit out into mud ?
7:46 :)
Yes
good story
I guess its fine 🤣 You heard her…..it doesnt have to be perfect at all 🤣

You are an amazing Artist! 👍
And that fire stick hack was awesome! 👌🔥
Thanks! Ive always wanted to show the fire stick thingy in a video haha. Finally found an appropriate way to use it. If you try it, be careful with the end that you throw away - I left it on my sketchbook for a minute and it burned through 2 layers! Yikes!
