I was looking for patterns to make this style of hat for the homeless along with warm mittens and socks. Canadian winters can get pretty cold for those of us who have warm homes. Homeless people need all the help they can get to stay warm. I like your hat but I don't have time to make the pattern and then wonder if they will fit the people who will be receiving them. Thank-you very much for the well instructed video.
Hiii! Tysm for making this OMG! I am currently making a custom Monster High doll and I used this pattern to make this hat for her! I really wanted her to have it but I was loosing hope UNTIL I saw this video. I'm gonna make a hat like this (but in a normal size ;)) for me and my parents too, I just fell in love with how it turned out! Once again, tysm!
Brilliant. I am going to alter your pattern a little to accommodate different materials; my hat is a tanned leather liner for my black bear faced sourdough hat.
Is it possible to not have a very thick layer of cloth underneath the ushanka? So it’s possible to wear it in warmer weather too. I’m not experienced with sewing so I’m not sure what I could sue instead though..

These definitely keep my head warm in upstate New York weather :) but I’d guess Canadian winters are on another level…

I’d imagine thinner fabric would not look as nice, because the pattern is designed with this thick fabric in mind…
Do you have any recommendations if someone had to hand sew this?
I would use backstitch ❣️
Thanks for this tutorial! Would I use 1/4” SA on the opposite side of the front flap as well?
I don’t remember exactly, but I think I did 1/4” SA there too!
Could u maybe show or send the measurements Ty ❤
Drafting instruction is between 2:03 - 6:00 ❣️ And in the background, I’m using a cutting mat with 1/2” grid.
MUCHAS GRACIAS!!!! me salió bien y a la primera, solo me fallo un poco emparejarlos pero todo funciono. saludos desde México 🥰
happy to hear it worked out for you! 😊💕
NOW I CAN BE KYLE BROVLOSKI LES GO also is it possible you can hand sew it all together or need a machine
I’m sure you can hand-sew it if you’re patient!
