hoping my bump will bump this most excellent suggestion, Jack L is about the coolest 17 min song one can imagine... no filler, no retread, it is the whole story
Glad you chose the studio version over the video. Way to much awesomeness was removed in the video. The whole album is a masterpiece. Bought this my senior year of high school and about wore out the cassette.
Woow didn't expect you to react on Voivod! Their last album The Wake is very very progressive in my opinion. Maybe they are responsible for my switch from metal to progressive back then, who knows..
I found cd format on eBay. I love this band 💗 Nothing Face is a must have in your collection! Dean my apologies I wasn't aware this was a cover. Les Claypool and Sean Lennon cover it . Dimension Hatross is their first progressive album 1988
Hey Dean, I fully concur with Mario and Skulhed below. Wake is quite progressive and Jack Luminous is an amazing piece of music. After Piggy passed (colon cancer) a long search to replace him was undertaken. A handful of years ago they discovered who would soon become Chewy who handled and emulated all of Piggy's past guitar lines. Fast forward to now and he sounds like Piggy never left. In my opinion if you are looking for the more progressive Voivod look no further than Outer Limits. The songs are much less discordant than earlier Voivod and avoid the hyper speed reached by the likes of Dimension Hatroll (my fave). Angel Rat is another more in the progressive court than not. Yet it still retains that Voivod sound. Gorgeous stuff either way.
this album is also one of the few recorded DDD... it makes a difference... very odd for the time, but I think it gave it that "clean" mechanical feel...
@@thecentralscrutinizer5730 Well, I tried to get rid of them - after you sent them to me by mail without me asking for them - but then you pleaded for hours to keep them because you're hiding them from your metal bros. So why the sudden change? Wham no longer yer faves, or are you simply putting up a front in case your bros read this?
Strange you pick a really known early pink floyd cover if your into prog music. The swansong of Syd barett, and dont you know about it? And it is really not a good way to start with Voivod. A cover song. Its a good cover. But really? A band with 40 years library of music. That covers all from aggresive punk metal to the most progressive metal in history. A cover song is just lazy pick.
@@deanwolfechannel depends on what your after. But Dimension Hatröss i a good pick. Its where they really started to find their own path. Very far out riffs, but still in the thrash category. Nothingface and angel rat are more progy not so hard albums. All of those albums are very strong, but quite different to eachother.
Pink Floyd song at that. They also did Pink Floyd's Nile song on Outer Limits
oh dear. had the chance to dig into Voivod and got a Pink Floyd cover for the start. :D
I would suggest the 17 min. epic "Jack Luminous" from 1993's The Outer Limits album. A progressive metal crowning acheivement.
Yes yes yes ...... i love it ....
Agreed.
my favorite song of all time!
Incredible. The Outer Limits is a perfect album front to back IMO.
hoping my bump will bump this most excellent suggestion, Jack L is about the coolest 17 min song one can imagine... no filler, no retread, it is the whole story
The thing about Voivod that has always amazed me is how incredibly tight they are live. No slop whatsoever.

Psychedelic and freakkaaayy! My kinda jam. 😋
I will never forget seeing them when Nothingface came out. They came into my life at the right time for sure.
Nice take on this classic from the Syd Barrett era :-)
Great to see this. Amaazing band. Hope to see you react to Cosmic Drama from Dimension Hatröss as well!
Loved Voivod years ago

Based on your suggestion I am going to go buy the vinyl right now!
Вся их музыка в проге и интересна. Автор видео не в курсе про Пинк Флойд. Нах.
The unknown. Knows.
best pink floyd cover ever, voivod are unreal
Voivod, along with the band Death, were the biggest influences for progressive thrash metal band Vektor.
The harmony in the voices did remind me of early Bowie. The music is a bit dark. Everything dark is lovely.
Planet Eaters · Voivod just dropped!
Nicely done remake of a Syd Barrett classic.

I tried to get him to react to a Lennon Claypool Delirium song months ago, but RUclips blocks it out of country. I guess I'll just send him an mp3
Yeah that would be nice! I can't wait for next month 🤠
😎👍

My #1 band since 1988.
👍

Great point
This is a direct cover of the post Barrett verions that can be heard from 69-70 Floyd
VoiFloyd ..!
The bass is a Liberatoire. Custom made from a shop in Montreal
It was a "Blower" per Blacky and the band.👾
Fink Ployd
Pink Void
Vinyl should be re-released soon
That Ghost Meliora album flat on the wall tho....
please try psychotic waltz... "nothing" or "i of the storm" from their first album back in 1990 ..great prog metal pioneers
Mosquito album 1994 is a classic
ok
Check out their last album The Wake. Voivod is once again way ahead of their time
I've got it, still shrinkwrapped. I would like to react to one song from it, would you recommend one?
@@deanwolfechannel This alternate version of The End Of Dormancy, with the brass section.

you should have choose at least an authantic voivod song, astronomi dominae is a Pink floyd song revisited by Voivod
I look forward to collecting some voivod
@@deanwolfechannel 1st album....song Black City
Tbis is a cover heough,of pink floyd, so not entirely reflective of their sound.
Literally picked the softest track from the first 6 albums... Not even their song.
Lol. I just picked up their latest vinyl, Wake I think...
Omg I'm so sorry you're right I'll try to put something more to your liking.😢
@@thecentralscrutinizer5730 You do that.
But first drop your power metal collection into the sewer and turn to real music. Deal?
