- I give you a look at the 2023 C8 Corvette Z06 and compare it to my 2023 Dodge Demon 170 to tell you which is the better car to own, and which is more fun to drive. These two iconic cars are the best at what they do despite being incredibly different in essentially every way. The Demon 170 is intended to be the fastest production car in the world at the drag strip while the Z06 is an absolute monster on a road course. Which car would you rather own?

Demon is a Monster, Z06 is a Ninja (both impressive).
The Demon 170 looks like a monster truck next to that C8 Corvette.
It would be the easiest decision of my life given the choice between the two cars! With zero hesitation, I'd pick the Demon 170! There are several other auto manufacturers with cars pretty much, just like the Z06, but the Demon 170 is in a class of its own! There are no other street legal, warrantied, factory production, 1000 plus HP, supercharged V8 wheelie machines available on the market today!

There’s nothing like the Z06 on the market right now, nor will there probably ever be at this point. No other car manufacturer has a modern day super car that has a 5.5 liter N/A FPC racing V8 engine in it. Unless you’re spending hyper car levels of money to get something like a Valkyrie or T.50S, or something unbelievably exclusive like an Apollo, you’re not getting an N/A engine from a car, especially not a V8. The C8 Z06 is the last of its kind just as much as the Demon 170 is.

Demon for me, nothing fun about a fake Ferrari that’s na making 670 crank hp. Prefer a c7zr1 for the price of this car getting more power/tq and actually sounds like a vet while eating the c8. Looks better in my opinion too. People love the c8 though,but hey nothing wrong with that.
Also picking between the 2 is really difficult. But I think I would pick the C8 Corvette. But just by a tiny bit.
I had a 2023 Hellcat and sold it and bought a 2016 C7 ZO6 with a ZO7 package. Love both cars, but as you said the Vette just wraps around you. You can't go wrong with either car, but I'm happy to have the Z06.
If you buy a ZO6 or a Vette 2016 was the last year, they were hand painted. Also the C7 was the last of the front engine and with an option of a manual.
To me, America wins with 2 great cars

My wife and I went to Bowling Green for our anniversary and toured the plant and museum. Definitely recommend it. They do have a package where you can drive the C8 on the testing track. As far as these cars I'd probably go Corvette because I really like road tracks but the Demon is also awesome. Like them both

They are two different animals, and for the most part, the Vette has always been more like a road going car. Although they do o.k. in the quarter mile. Even my old 89 feels that way.

To me I choose the Z06, so much more car for the money, do you want to melt the tires like a 16 year old kid, or drive a world class sports car for the same money?
Demon all day long. You can roll race and dig race and win that world class sports car will lose to anything fbo with boost. So you can look like a 60 year old midlife crisis going bald holding the only record that makes no sense the na record in a world of boost. You realize the bench mark today to be considered fast is to be faster than an electric plaid. Before that it was to beat a 720s. So basically you’re screwed in the world of sports cars considering the 720s is faster from 2020 than that sports car. It’s like being jack of all trades master of non. Shit I would honestly if I were you and liked vets and sports cars take the c7 zr1 or c6 zr1 for the same price more power and being faster than the c8 at everything it does while having head room to grow if you desired more power unlike a high compression small displacement tight tolerance v8 that’s na. For the same price you can get more car yet you jump on the fad train because you see mid engine but that’s about all I see good about it.
@@joshreynolds729 All you see is straight line performance. Not everything is about straight line performance. That C8 will run laps around that Demon 170 on a track. But that's not what the Demon 170 was made for.
The Demon 170 can't take a corner whereas the C8 can.
Simply put, the Demon 170 was made for straight line performance, and the C8 Z06 was made for the track.
@@XsaviXander 100% every good car has a purpose especially race cars. So one who likes to turn doesn’t need gobs of tq and less of a power band with a ton more power when the real estate isn’t there. Me personally I like straight line performance drag and high speed pulls. It’s all preference neither are bad cars. But to say I’m happy 100% with either would be wrong. The demon needs more power and cubes. The vet needs to be more of a do it all car with more power with the ability to tune on the fly with different maps so you can enjoy all forms of racing as a drag car is only going to be a drag car but the vet has always been able to be a everything car hence the name super car. The vet is americas affordable supercar and as such I expect 1000 hp in 2024 especially if they are gonna boast over 100k for it. Not to take any steam out of the fact they got the na record that’s respect but today isn’t about who has the most powerful small na motor it’s who has boost and makes the most power with being able to stick it. Yo me the goal should to be taking the crown from all other manufacturers anything less should not be excepted able for America. Especially with this ev tech crap going around trying to take over. Settling is laying down in my opinion.

Great review!! I think I’d be paranoid going over every bump and change in road elevation in that Z06. It was always sketchy in my GT-350 with that front low splitter. The challenger and the C8 can both put a smile on your face so you can’t go wrong with either. I drive Raptor R because I love the clearance, the big meaty tires, and of course the monster V8 under the hood. Drive whatever makes you smile 🤠

I traded in a 2023 heallcat and 2017 corvette grand sport on my Demon 170. So I can kinda relate to your comparison. I actually preferred the hellcat. It was more comfortable, easier to get in and out of, and rides way better. There very different beasts for sure.
Great video getting to different monsters in one shot! I have owned both Widebody Hellcat( I know you Demon 170 which is much more powerful) and the C8! I loved both and a completely different driving experience. I have been waiting almost 2 years to get my Z06 at MSRP(at 1100 status) should be built by June 2024. I never pay over MSRP for anything and would have Demon 170 too, but you know most dealerships were charging over for them. Both great cars for the best of both world track and road!!
I like both for different reasons. The Demon 170 is a monster in a different sector. So is the ZO6. That's cool with me, if you can afford it. Get both.
Love my Z06 htc, and have a Charger redeye too. I could not do without the htc, so much more enjoyable than the coupe. I'd like to see the Edmunds U drag race between these two. I could part with the Charger long before the Z06. More fun to drive over-all.

Both are great cars. Im a huge road course race fan, so i would have to go with the Z06. No disrespect to the 170. I live about 45 minutes from VIR and I love going to the IMSA weekend every year! I grew up in the mountains, so twisty backroads are my fav!

Just because of the maintenance on the Z06 I would get the demon 170 . Plus I'm a fan of Dodge. Other than tires 4 times a year for the demon at least. I would bet that the price is similar for tires on the Z06.
I couldn't part with my Hellcat when I got the ZO6. My dealership was cool and kept their word on MSRP and price lock. Different cars but both amazing!

I just purchased a 2024 Z06 for MSRP and is an excellent car. It is not as fast as my tesla model s plaid in the 1/4 mile but love both cars. Electric is the future like it or not. The cowboy on the horse said cars are bad how many people are riding horses today ? The future belongs to those who have better ideas.
What most people don't know about dodge is , it's not like they can't make cars that can't handle at all , I mean look at the viper , it's the fastest American car on the Nürburgring track.
The Viper is the ONLY Mopar that's worth mentioning honestly. Much better than both the Hellcat and Demon.

I bought my first sports car recently...a 2024 C8 Stingray...not the Z06,though. It still ran about $100k. I love the sleek,European styling of the C8. The Demon is obviously very fast,but too boxy looking for my taste.
I would probably get a z06 just bc I have a redeye around the same power as the 170. Both are monsters in their own right. That Z06 shifts so well sheesh!
considering the MSRP on the 170 and C8, i'd probably take the C8. But for the price of either car, i could buy a normal hellcat and a nice daily driver, which seems like what I would prefer. Keep the miles and wear and tear low on the hellcat.
I already have a 2015 C7 Z06, but would not mind having a C8 Z06. i'm sure it can put the power down better.
The corvette is over all a nicer car. Though the demon 170 is still really cool and is appealing
If I had the money and it was between owning one of these, and I didn't care about appreciation/depreciation, it'd be the corvette.

With the money both. for travel around the Corvette. The fun factor the Challenger.

As someone who drag raced for 20 years I love that Demon! But to choose one, the ZO6 is sorta my dream car! And just wait till the ZR-1/Duntov version comes out!!

Tried to fit into a C8, my head hit the roof at the same time it hit the back, and I'm only 6'1.
I’m 6’2 220 muscle build & it’s a lil snug in there, but I had to have one. Took delivery yesterday after waiting since last May
Agree - I have an 18 Demon and matching # 170. On the street, both just destroy the tires. Fun to drive but could never put power to the ground. I ordered a Porsche 911Turbo S, 640 HP and AWD (a heresy for an old fuel drag racer) but, it's likely the best of all worlds avail - faster than the Vette by a lot and even beats the ERay, (0=60 in 2.2 in some tests vs 2.5 for the ERay), handles the same or better too - spectacular.. On the street from a dead stop, it would easily beat the Demon(s). On a prepped drag strip, it'd be the other way. All toys though and all fun and my Demons both ride so very well on the street - smooth, corners fine too a/c the big drag radials which are sorta like road racing tires from the 70's and 80's - just not in the rain. But mine have never been in rain - intentionally.
That 911 will be such a fun car to drive as well

Demon 170 is just better at what it’s supposed to be, and I’m the furthest thing from a mopar fan. The 170 is built for one thing, and it Dominates in that segment.
The Z06 is just another 458 knock off. It’s close but it ain’t an Italia and definitely not a Speciale. It’s cool tho, to say the least.
Pick whichever one is hardest to steal.😅

without viewing this entire video i agree. z06s are a far better overall car. ill take less straight line performance to have a more complete vehicle. im betting z06s are very comfortable to drive on long trips also.

I love the 170 but I would not want that. It is just too much for the road. I have a challenger scat pack nice car but if I had to choose, I would definitely take the ZO6 not taking anything away from that monster you have.
