I used the 80cm softbox just the other day for a senior portrait session. I really like the light quality from it and most of all like how quick and easy the set up and take down is with it! Probably one of my all time favorite modifiers!
this is my go-to Softbox for travelling. It is not big enough to cover any needs (if that even exists), but it is good enough to bring anywhere with me and get nice portraits.
Thank you for the explanation! Instead of mounting the softbox at the stand, why not mount the flash while the softbox is on the table? Then you can mount the flash+softbox on the stand, I reckon that would be easier.
Thanks for this instructional video. I received my first softbox today and as you explained 2 hands are advised for both opening and closing it. I have the 80cm Godox softbox and if you're not careful it will slap you something good like it did to me or fly away from you. Closing it had me feeling like I was bending it out of shape but watching you gave me confidence as long as I followed your steps it would be fine. Thanks again👍👍
I bought the 80x80 one last year, and I really liked it - if you're planning to use this softbox with a normal ''Bowens mount light'' like in my case (Godox sl60) you have to buy an adaptor from Godox separately - otherwise, It's great thanks for the helpful video 😊
Ahmad, I'm also planing to use the 60x60 version with my SL60W. In my country is not easy at all to find the adapter, so I will print it in 3D. The question is: does the led temperature affects the softbox? Thank you!
I hate velcro, but these softboxes can be folded flat with the diffuser and grid installed. Not as compact as their fully folded state, but a compromise worth exploring.
I would really like to see you tilt the soft box while it’s mounted on your bracket . I have bought S type Bowen’s both the old and new and I can not tilt box with soft box on. So frustrating as I have many of these soft boxes from Godox. PLEASE show how to do this so the handle can move to make it tilt !!!
I have been using this type of softboxes for years. After use, I fold it and store it in a thin slice. When I use it again, it is ready for use. You do not need to do anything ...
Depends on what you're shooting. An umbrella octa gives a nice wide throw of light and is quite versatile however a tulip or square softbox like this are great for portraits.
Grab a Bowens speed ring and similar to how we mount this to the S-type bracket, you can insert the Bowens speed ring instead which will allow you to use this softbox on any Bowens compatible light.

Thank you for the step by step explanation. I’m just getting into flash photography and so many videos skip the crucial steps you addressed
Glad it was helpful!
I have the 80cm version and 8 love it.
Really good explanation and demonstration 👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾
Thank you!
Thanks for the explanation! I'll be buying it soon.

@@diegoeidelman it doesn’t at all - if you have used the sl60w you will notice that it doesn’t get hot and that’s very helpful in this situation
Great! Thank you @@jamalmediaa
Buddy, where can I find the adapter? Can’t find it anywhere

Yes! Still convenient we feel as you don't have to deal with rods or frames in the setup / pack down process.
Great Video

Didn't know it sprung out with such force. Gave myself a bloody nose lol.
excellent review................thanks
Inner diffuser hooks with elastic don't last. The elastic eventually stretches and the diffuser hangs like a limp noodle. But good review.
I'm a little confused between this godox square softbox & godox SBUBW80 Umbrella octa softbox. Which is better? Please help me out!

Okay..Got it! Thanks a lot👍🏻
Hi i m confused by size. Do you suggest me a 60 or 80 for inside portraits?
Hey Rob from hypop, it's guys.
awesome
mine came without a grid
Nice🙏
is the S-type bracket metal or plastic?
S-type is made from plastic. The S2 bracket is a mix of metal and plastic and is higher quality overall
How can I mount this in a Bowens traditional mount? can't find the adapter anywhere.

can you use this on a godox ad3oo?
You would need a Godox speed ring to mount with the AD300Pro

Would be great if you could loose the 'music'..
