Hello mate, i really liked your video on these studio strobe lights, however i do have a question. Im currently using a entry level Canon EOS 77d camera with a YONGNUO YN-E3-RT II trigger, will any of these strobes be able to work with my setup?
Explained clearly and very informative! This video is basically all I need to start choosing a Godox strobe as it gave me all the insight I need on each series. Really appreciate this type of content
Excellent video. I had never really looked any further than the Godox AD series of battery-powered strobes, but these really do meet a lot of the same requirements I want those for, essentially just with a cable. I can see one or two of these in my near future. Thanks!!
FINALLY! Somebody talks about the DPIII . Its so hard to find youtube reviews for these, or even on Facebook Forums. Hope you guys do a review on the DPIII Series alone. Thanks!!!
Great video. Thanks so much. Please I need a favor, Godox Ms300, Ds300/400, SK300ii/400ii and De300/400 which one should I go for it. Because I'm a little bit confused. Kindly Choose one for me.
Question: are they getting hot/warm after a lot of shots? Im doing macro photography and making sometimes more as 200 shots in a stack. Is it getting hot/warm then?
I’m in the market for 2 lights. The lights will be used with 1’x4’ strip boxes with grids, set up about two feet from the model at 45 degree angles pointed at the models nose. There will be black flags on either side of the models head. Shooting with Fuji GW690ii 6x9 90mm f/3.5. What flash would you recommend? Would two SK400 ll be enough for this set up?
Neither work outdoors and need to be plugged into mains power. If your require to be completely wire-free outdoors then the AD300Pro would be the equivalent flash.
Thorough Info... Thanks! Just 1 question though - Does this studio strobe have an auto-dump feature? [e.g. auto-discharging the capacitor when changing from a higher power to a lower power]
This Video helped me a lot, thank you very much. One question: If there is no HSS explicitly noted, but flash-duration is up to 1/2000... does that mean, that my shutterspeed can be up to 1/2000?
That value, is for flash duration, not slash synchronization. That means, the flash will fire at maximum of 1/2000 speed. We need that to freeze motion. Because, if you shoot in a dark studio, even with a high shutter speed, what matters, and what gonna freeze the object, is the flash duration. The higher power percentage you use (1/1,1/2 for example), the longer flash duration you get (bad for freezing motion). The AD600 unit, has 1/10.000sec flash duration, at minimal power. And only 1/200 at maximum. Check this video ruclips.net/video/xZt-wBAqyjg/видео.html
What light setup will you recommend for dance photography? Can 3 ad200pro will do the job. Considering the need of flash duration? Or what else you recoment. To set up a dance photography studio with godox lights.
AD200Pros can get the job done with a flash duration of 1/15,380 sec however if you're after a more powerful studio light setup we'd recommend the new Godox QT600IIIM.
No Elinchrom alternatives unfortunately. Most Godox flashes are Bowens mount and/or Godox mount. You can purchase Elinchrom-to-Bowens adapter rings if you're using Elinchrom lighting modifiers.
which one of those strobes would you recommend for food photography? I want to shoot video as well, the flash atm is not an option. Thank you in advance! :)
Hi! thanks for this video! full of info. I have a doubt about qualitys and series, I have the QTII series (600w) but I feel that I dont use all functions to much like super speed shots to freeze action or the mask function that includes. Im series thinking to sell it and downgrade to the new DPIII series, the difference that I will note between these 2 series lights accord to my use (because never use in HSS mode or mask mode) its basically the stops (1/64 vs 1/128) the weight and size, the flash dumping when change power and the little advantage in recycle time (0.9 sec vs 1.0 sec almost nothing) so well I want to know if you recomend this flash against the QT600II or if you can tell me another difference that I will note? I use it for portrait and fashion work. I dont shoot fast motion shots, even never use it the multi mode LOL! well hope you can resolve my doubt. Thanks!
Great presentation thanks but why no mention of modelling lamps? Are they LED or tungsten? At 150 watts I assume tungsten with the associated heat and power draw.
Im going to do food photography on restaurants. And i think the MS300 is a more than good option. But i do have a question Is it compatible with the 80x80 tulip square by godox ? is there a way to make it compatible. I know there are other bowens mount, but being collapsible is always better .
I am doing water drop / water collision photography. Currently I am using a couple of speedlites however, I am still getting some motion blur. Is there a Strobe that you would suggest and why thanks
Very informative video and I enjoyed it. Just one question left unanswered though. I'm looking for 300 series light just for indoors portraits. I'm not interested in HSS but I would like to be able to use a Nikon FM2 at 1/250th second shutter speed to control ambient light for film portraits. The camera will synch at that speed but will the light? Will all or any of these support that?
Does the Godox Sk400ii connect wirelessly to nikon D5600 and D850? I'm new to external flashes and am attempting to learn which lights are best for my small shooting space. I shoot fashion editorials and actors' headshots. Does the Godox Sk400ii need to be plugged into an outlet or can it be used outside as well?
You'll need to use a Godox 2.4GHz trigger such as the X1, X2 or Xpro. We go through the triggers here: ruclips.net/video/ZZnlZYf9rGo/видео.html&ab_channel=Hypop
It would be really useful to see a comparison for colour variance/consistency. I know the SK400 is 5600 +\- 200 and I’ve used a set for a couple of years and I’ve seen that it can be a bit inconsistent at times.
I own godox camara on flash like godox ttl 865II, but i am thinking about some sotbox and better light, i have small home fotostudio, i shoot family and children, what would you recommend for me: light and softbox? Thanks!
Go for a larger octagon softbox if you have space, like the 120cm octagon softbox. If you're mostly indoors then the SK400II is a great starting point moving from speedlites, otherwise if you're after a light that can be used outdoors too take a look at the Godox AD300Pro / Godox AD400Pro.
Came here for the differences between the series, got 5x about the same story (bowens mount, umbrella mount, adjustible in 0.1 increments, etc). OK, except for the higher ends, and the recycle times: please explain what the differences are!!
Hi, thanks for the great comparison. I have one question. I have a 120cm octabox for portraits which is quite heavy and think about buying the MS 300 or SKII 400. So, how about the screws, do they hold bigger, heavier softboxes in certain angles? Thanks in advance.
We'd suggest to go with the SK400II rather than the MS300 if you're planning to mount a larger and heavier softbox. Although the MS300 is more compact, it may not hold the weight of larger softboxes depending on which one you use.
thanks a lot for tyour great content and thorough reviews and comparison, could you please do a review on the godox light shapers, I have found no reviews whatsoever on these.
The Godox DP400II-V will cover most bases for food and product photography with enough output. We'd then suggest a nice large softbox such as a 95cm octabox or larger.
@@hypop i like to do to have less shadows as possible, like the doing a booklight set up like I do for video, my 600 watts video light doesnt do the job. A 400 watts flash can do booklight at 100 iso/f11 at 200 shutter?
Hi there, yes you can. A consideration you'll need to have is that not all models share the same features. You'll be using the set up mainly in manual mode and recycle times might be slightly different between units.
Can you explain why Godox makes their firmware upgrades to so difficult? Can’t we just go on their website, plug in the device, click on the product we need to update and have the firmware go directly to the device?
Hey, great video thanks ! Do you know if the any of these (especially the DP iii) are compatible with the trigger Neewer NT1 (s) ? And could I attach my softbox Godox SB-UE 80cm to it ? Thanks a lot!! :)

Do these flashes all work with X2T for TTL? I see most places said none of them support TTL. Does QSII has better light quality than DPIII serial? Thanks.
Hello good morning, I follow you on RUclips and now on Instagram. congratulations I appeal your excellent content. I have a question regarding studio flashes, I would like to know if you can help me. I already have an AD400PRO that I use to do my jobs and I would like to add two more flashes. I'm considering choosing the QS400II or SK400II but in the reviews I see that the maximum sync speed is 1/2000 against 1/8000 of the AD400PRO. many of the photos I take are at 1/3200 speeds. my question is, if i use the QS4000II or SK400II will i be really limited to a maximum speed of 1/2000?
Hi! I'm planning to purchase a set of studio lights that can be used both on portraits and food photography. What can you suggest that is best for me. Hoping for your best suggestion. This is going to be my first time to use studio lighting. Also if u have tutorial on how to set the proper setting from camera to the flash. Thank you!
It would be based mostly on Lux output for continuous lighting rather than watts for flash. Depending on how well your camera does in low light situations then we find that 2x 300W lights such as the Godox VL300 work well for a standard 3x3m space.
Awesome video! thank you very much. I am planning on getting a QT600ii and two dp400iii strobes. I have seen that the qt600ii has a protective glass dome but the dp400iii does not. It is sold separately in case you break it. my question is, can you actually attach that dome on the dp400iii? Is it possible? I'm a little scared of having a bare bulb because I'm clumsy.
It's not possible unfortunately. The securing tabs for the dome are only found on the QTII and QSII range. Missed opportunity there, however so long as you use the Bowens protector cap when not in use, when storing or during transport it should be ok!
@@hypop thank you for your response. I'm not worried about transporting them, i'm worried about ...decapitating them when i switch modifiers during a shoot 😅
great review. thanks for great information for me a beginner. thus as I have understand they don't have rechargeable battery. am looking for some strobe with external rechargeable battery. do you think I can find a strobe with rechargeable battery with almost the same price range? can be 200 euro higher price. the output can be 300 or 400w. thanks in advance
Hi, I currently have 3 different Yongnuo Speedlight Flashes with remote triggers. I'm realizing that they do not produce enough power in some situation, and they don't offer strobes. I see you have similar Speedlights, and many more options. I'm trying to figure out which would be best for me. I want them to be powerful, portable (battery powered, or ideally either battery or AC when I'm in my home studio) and easily attach a variety of modifiers. I can't quite figure out the differences between all the product lines, AD, QT, SK, AR, etc. I have Nikon cameras, and trying to figure out what option I should invest in
What you should have focused more on: stable color temp+ hue, t.1 flash duration, masking modes, accuracy of power output across fraction range, and stereostrobic modes.
Thanks for the feedback! Would definitely make the video a lot more detailed and longer than it already is, but we can arrange a follow up video with some of these advanced features / metrics for those that are interested!
@@hypop Just my 2 cents. Viewers can pretty quickly catch on to the naming/power scheme Godox uses and have probably already looked up the price of a few of these units by the time they find your video. It's all the other features that actually make one line stand out from one another. Still, it's nice to at least have them sorted in a video like this.
Also could you use a strobe for a video light as well? Wondered if it would make sense to buy a video light or just stay with a good strobe and use it as both .
You won't be able to use a strobe as a continuous light as strobe lights will only flash when you trigger it to when you take a photo on a camera. If you want an option for both videography and photography, a continuous light can do both.

Make video on shooting video with modelling lamp of flash light .
Is it possible to shoot video using 2 sk400 flash with lower iso?
Are the connection parts at the bottom of the flash plastic or metal in dp600 series?
Hi! I'm planning to purchase a set of studio lights that can be used both on portraits and food photography. What can you suggest that is best for me. Hoping for your best suggestion. This is going to be my first time to use studio lighting. Also if u have tutorial on how to set the proper setting from camera to the flash. Thank you!
Anyone know the compatibility of the SK400II and HSS - is it supported with a Sony a6400 and X1T trigger?
I have a small studio 2.7/3 m and a height of 3 m...I will buy the sk 300 ii I think it will be enough. Tell me some things guys...
Yes, 2x 300W strobes should be sufficient for a studio lighting setup. You can start with one flash then work you way up to a second flash.
Damn
You are really good at this. Thanks for the reviews. Keep going !
Appreciate the feedback
VERY SATISFIED WITH YOUR WORK SO DETAILED BLESSINGS FOR YOU.. :)
Amazing Video. Thank you for making the decision making so easy. 🙏🏼
Our pleasure!
what continuous light watts should I use for a 3m x 3m space?
Will pocket wizard 3work with Godox? Thanks
Yes, they will however you'll need to plug the receiver into the sync port via cable.
so the dp400111 cand handle high speed sync and will it work with xpro trigger?
great review. thanks for great information for me a beginner. thus as I have understand they don't have rechargeable battery. am looking for some strobe with external rechargeable battery.
do you think I can find a strobe with rechargeable battery with almost the same price range? can be 200 euro higher price. the output can be 300 or 400w.
thanks in advance
Hi, I currently have 3 different Yongnuo Speedlight Flashes with remote triggers. I'm realizing that they do not produce enough power in some situation, and they don't offer strobes. I see you have similar Speedlights, and many more options. I'm trying to figure out which would be best for me. I want them to be powerful, portable (battery powered, or ideally either battery or AC when I'm in my home studio) and easily attach a variety of modifiers. I can't quite figure out the differences between all the product lines, AD, QT, SK, AR, etc. I have Nikon cameras, and trying to figure out what option I should invest in
Great! Exactly what I was looking for
Hi. Just want to ask what are the difference of the witstro flash and a studio flash. Thank you
The Witstro range of flashes are battery operated and can be used outdoors or on-location.
@@hypopi see thank u. Keep it up..
what is the difference between DP V version and the non-V vercion?
The V version now has an LED modelling lamp and the non-V version still uses the E27 screw modelling lamp
Can these lights be powered with battery packs for outdoor use?
Godox have recently released the new LP-750X which would allow these lights to work outdoors or with no power access.
Sir i am try for high volume Photography shoots and I have Godox sk 400 m 2 strobes are they good enough for high volume shoots .
They should shoot fine but if high volume means you want a faster recycle time perhaps look at the newer Godox DP400III / DP400III-V.
Does Sk400 ii have HSS feature?
Also could you use a strobe for a video light as well? Wondered if it would make sense to buy a video light or just stay with a good strobe and use it as both .
You won't be able to use a strobe as a continuous light as strobe lights will only flash when you trigger it to when you take a photo on a camera. If you want an option for both videography and photography, a continuous light can do both.
What about the ad series?
this is such a great video, greetings from México!
Hey, thanks!
Thanks for the great tips!
Glad it was helpful!
Just got the qt 600ii M , like new , for $190 :)
THANKS, so much needed! 👏🏽
what makes the SK400ii $139.00 better than the GS400ii $161.10?
WHAT DOES GODOX AD600 SAY IS SUITABLE FOR OUTDOOR PHOTOGRAPHY?
Yes, the AD600B / AD600Pro is suitable for outdoor photography
@hypop Affordable lighting for studio photography
