Many years ago, I had a very bad case of eczema on my hands. Everything I applied to the rash made my skin itch and burn. Because of allergy worries, the dermatologist asked me if I was able to eat pork products, and I told him I could eat pork. He recommended that I slather lard on my hands to soften the skin, then wrap my hands in gauze. It was very soothing. I did this for about a week and my hands healed up beautifully.

In North America I think crisco shortening successfully managed to convince just about everyone that lard was super unhealthy and many switched to shortening. One of the best marketing campaigns of all time perhaps? Similar to the butter vs margarine war of decades gone. I switched back to butter and lard about 5 years ago and food tastes much better now. I even fry stuff in lard. A totally superior end result.

humans need to be in the sun a lot to make vitamin D which is the only vitamin the human body can make but it needs lots of sun to make it.
Its not really a vitamin though.
So during the winter when their is less sun u will have a vitamin D deficiency. Its why ppl tend to be less happy during the winter and depression is more common in the winter thats down to not enough sunlight for the body to convert into vitamin D.
very few foods have vitamin D in them. lard being the best.
ppl who work nights will also have vitamin D deficiency cause they dont get as much sun. same as pll who work in factories get very little sun.
So to be happier and less depressed u need to spend more time outdoors in the sun.

Lard vs Butter really isn't a good debate. They're both better than these seed oils. Pretty much we should be eating animal fats

Probably would depend on how both are process and how much they are heated.

Lard is good for you if you are not allergic to it. Just don't eat too much. All food is good for you but in moderation. We all need a balanced diet. I have health problems because I am allergic to beef and gluten. Its not good to be allergic to food. Also, all food comes from living life forms, even vegetables are alive. Its healthier to cook all food because it helps bring nutrition out of the products, and it makes it easier for our bodies to get the full benefits. The goal is to get enough energy to survive. 👍

Lard is not "good for you." It is indeed less saturated than some tropical oils, but not better than vegetable shortenings. Can you eat lard? Of course. But just because you can eat it in moderation doesn't make it good for you.
And cooking doesn't not "bring out nutrients." It actually destroys some nutrients. Some things benefit from cooking, some don't, and some are fin either way.
I don't where you got your information from, but it certainly wasn't scientific or fact based.
