    I think my car is a great example of a budget build. Only got $8k in it total and 600whp. Maggie $5360, 392 cam+springs+pushrods $370. Stainless Power long tubes $960. Snow meth stage 1 $300. Hptuner credits $100, my brother already had the MPVI2 and I tuned myself so no tuning costs. Bravados and mickeys used like new condition $600. Oh and $500 billet single pump fuel setup.

    Great list. For performance mods you cant do much without an unlocked PCM it definitely has to be #1. #2 Cam and #3 either 3.09 or 3.70 gears (if your car came with the open 2.62 diff). Going deeper into your list the SRT headers are cheap used but may not bolt to your stock cats (they didn’t on my 18 Charger) so you might have to find some cats if you want clean emissions or be real handy with a welder. Trinity T2 allows you to program up to 20-25% pedal boost so you might be able to skip the pedal booster and spend the money elsewhere. I was waiting for you to say you could just spray a 100 shot of NO2 when you hit the track 😉.

    • @ModernRedHemi
      @ModernRedHemi  3 года назад +1

      That's a great list. I thought about gears but the recently went sky high in price. The 3.09 LSD was $700 when I got mine but the best I've seen recently is a little over $1k. The pedal boost with the T2 is true but no where near using a real throttle booster but good point in using it elsewhere. 💪💪💪

    @apg1383 3 года назад +2

    Don, good topic for discussion. Their are many variables to consider depending what you want to achieve with the car. Bolt ons including cam installation is what most people think about first, more HP and torque output. This sounds great but if you have a automatic with its open rear differential, at this time you are wasting your money. Installing a LSD differential will at least allow both rear wheels to be powered and now you will need wider wheels and tires to get any additional HP and torque to the ground. If you want to do it right the car will have to be modified from back to front. A unlocked PCM and tuner is a definite to gain some additional performance from the engine. These items will definitely spend your $2500 budget. This is just the start because from here one modification will most likely require another modification to keep things compatible. Your not just building a engine, your building a car where all the mods have to work together so nothing breaks.
    This is how you might start on a automatic car but on a standard shift car you already have a LSD rear so maybe , lets say it is a 5.7, replacing the horrible exhaust manifold with a type of header would be the way to go. If the engine can't breathe other mods to increase engine performance become restricted. Lots to consider if you want to do it right.

      Thanks brother! This is the exact discussion I wanted to see! 💪💪💪

  • @hu3.789

    Having $2,500 to work with is a little tough especially if tires make up part of the budget. If the cost of wheels and tires are included in the budget, all it would be is a nitrous kit and a tune. Without the cost of wheels and tires included, it all depends on what how you would use the car. If I plan on taking it to the dragstrip, it would be a 100 shot of nitrous, limited slip differential, and a tune. If the car has a NAG1 transmission, 3.70 gears because the tall 1st gear from the factory makes it kind of a slug out of the hole. If the car has the 8 speed 3.09 gears would be the choice. If I don't plan on taking the car to the dragstrip, it would be a 6.4 cam, long tubes, and a tune. Perhaps going on a Ramen noodles diet and increasing the budget might be the way to go.

    Good stuff Modern Red 👍
    Insightful and helpful for those a bit new to the game and starting projects of their own. Its a fun rabbit hole, that can turn very expensive, very quickly lol. Took me 5 years to build out my Ram R/T, now pushing ~500hp. Very fun to drive, and still ain't done yet!
    Me personally for anybody looking for another opinion, for $2500, let your hemi breathe by getting yourself a fender- pull CAI, throttle body, 6.4 manifold, and a 93 octane tune. These alone will net you some respectable gains over stock. If still a few bucks leftover, throw in some high-flow 🐈's and muffler. More air in, faster air out, more ponies for you 🤘👊💪

      @ModernRedHemi  Год назад

      Age old question here. Build a fast car or buy a fast car. Can't go wrong either way. All comes down to your preference. Building a 5.7 is not for the feint of heart. By no means am I steering your one way or the other, just making sure you know what you are getting into building a 5.7. There is a lot to it and considerable down time (build time and waiting for parts) and depending on your goal, it can get expensive. Getting a Scat Pack or Hellcat is a much easier route but not necessarily cheaper, but have a warranty. Keep in mind, if you build, any warranty you purchased, even the long term ones, will not honor claims if you modify your car.

    Did you completely forget the automatics come with an open differential? You said this was $2500 parts only with no future upgrades intended and the first suggestion is going with a Trinity 2 for future upgrades? If the budget is only $2500 and the owner is driving an automatic the first commons sense thing to do is get rear traction by replacing the open differential with a Limited Slip and that's $1K right there. Your cam suggestion is a joke if you have not increased air flow in and out of the engine, you've lost touch with reality!

    • @ModernRedHemi
      @ModernRedHemi  3 года назад +1

      I have to disagree with you here, though I do like the 3.09 LSD so don't get me wrong. For only $2500 and not modifying any further, the 3.09 gears really don't do anything to make the car more enjoyable and powerful for that amount of cash. The tune, cam, and throttle response gizmo really make the car seem faster and more enjoyable experience. Now, with a larger budget and making this more of a street/drag car, the 3.09 LSD will definitely be in there. 💪💪💪

    Here’s what I’m doing to my 2021 Challenger R/T when it comes in: window tint, quarter window decals (American flag), reflector blackout, 95mm throttle body, oil separator, shorty headers, widow maker neighbor hater mufflers, resonator delete, 160 degree thermostat, grille badge overlays, seat belt cushion, lowering springs, sto n sho license bracket, and no need for a cai, it’s a Shaker package car. Just some information for you. On a stock 5.7 installing a throttle body of that size is a waste of money. To get any real benefit from that size throttle body you would have to go with forced induction ( supercharger ) and porting of the intake manifold.
