To give the show some credit, I really like Hard Man's design here, I barely watch this show, but I think he only appeared in this episode. Anyways, yeah, Hard Man's design here looks like the one from the games, unlike other robot masters in the show.
That's what I'm saying. His design is so faithful to the games, especially with the face design, most notably the half-circle eyes. I'm gonna guess they just got his original concept art and stuck with that without tweaking it to match the Westernized designs.
If they made an episode featuring all the Robot Masters from MM3, I could see Mega Man fighting Hard Man with that cartoon’s interpretation of Magnet Man’s weapon. In that case, Mega Man uses it to lift Hard Man high off the ground, making him scream beg the Blue Bomber to put him down. Mega Man says “As you wish, Hard Head!” and deactivates the weapon, making his opponent fall on his head. Hard Man screams “NOT LIKE THAT!” just before he hits the ground, which dents in his head and deactivates him.
