Conti 5000 and latex inner tube - no faff, no extra crap needed
I have a TLC PLUS mounted in my trunk like that. The whole kit fits in the side net, instant air ready to go. So easy to inflate and fun to show off at the gas station lol
The first word in bicycle is "buy".
Word fun is neat
The first compressor you showed, I have that same exact one. Funny, because it does clear out all wildlife when you turn it on. I bought it for my nail gun however. But it does work well for seating the tire to the rim
Sorry not drinking the tubeless tire Kool-aid if I need to purchase a
special air compressor and/or drive to my LBS to pay for mounting. I'm with fine tubes and a simple hand pump.
Do you and totally get that feeling, but I just can't express how nice it is that I only have to stand on the side of the road changing a tube about once a year, when it used to be more like twice a week, with once a year hitchhiking with a double or triple flat. Handful of memories trying to bum a ride 40 miles back up to Big Bear, or waiting for someone to ride by and begging them for a free tube in 105* heat on Mt. Baldy. It's 1000% worth the additional setup time at home, the slight mess with the sealant, and the money to me. Even for regular tubes, air compressors are super convenient
With ya… 😑👍
I’m with Phil on this. I went through a patch of puncturing every week without fail, no exaggeration. The roads are a mess where I live. I don’t mind changing a tube but it reached the point where I stopped going outdoors and stayed on my trainer. Tubeless may not be necessary for you but just respect that it works great for many others and they don’t really need to hear your objections, they’re just riding their bikes and having fun.
I have one flat per 10000km with inner tubes. No reason to use tubeless, but I try in spring. The tubeless tires are on the rims without sealant and I can pump them with a regular floor pump.
I haven't flatted in the five years I've been running tubeless on the road, that's kinda nice. The other benefits are not minor: you can run 60psi on 28s without fear of flatting, giving you get more comfort and more grip without any additional rolling resistance. It's also less work than you might think: blowing the tires on with a compressor is super easy.
When they have the "home version" of this, I'm in for sure.
You can use them at home with a 30-40 dollar adapter! We don’t have a 120v version in the works yet but will def consider.
I pump up my tubeless Hunt 40 Carbon Aero disc wheelset with my regular floor pump that I´ve had for years. No compressor needed.
just waiting for the outraged comments at Phil saying "if you're not (on tubeless) you should be" 😂 In 4+ years of running tubeless on my road bike I've had one catastrophic blowout that resulted in a phonecall for a ride (a tube probably would've failed as well). Other than that I've not stopped on a ride due to flats.
Once you tried a compressor you ain't going back to a floor pump that's for sure lol
Yep I have one of these in my trunk for over a year and never went back to floor pump
Yeah, compressors are worth it for TL!
@raf_ride, can the compressor also be used to dry stuff? Cann I buy an attachment to blow air so I can quickly dry my bike or chain?
the hose is standard, so any attachment for an air compressor would work on it
nice video. nice bead seating vid slo mo
Totally unrelated but purchased one of your signed jerseys. Thanks Phil. Had an epic caramel cookie pie last week😂
$449? I've had a 6 gal compressor and a Prestaflator Pro for years. The total cost was maybe $200, good compressors go on sale all the time... The capacity is far bigger than this tiny one Phil has , which is why it takes a couple minutes longer to charge. This setup will easily blow on any tire at very low regulator settings, even fatbike tires. I guess I can see some people needing a small, wired-in compressor to seat beads at the trailhead... but that seems pretty niche to me.
Hi David, I developed the TLC series. It’s niche indeed, and that is our specialty at VIAIR. There’s quite the overlap btwn folks who like cycling and road trips, off-roading, Van life etc. This crew doesn’t have space and never had a way do setup bike tires on the go, they also need to maintain the vehicle tires. The TLC use oil-less, gear-less 12v DC motors that are far quieter and more efficient than the stuff we get for home (that’s why $$). The entry model is $159. If u ever get curious about it, ask away !
Raf
I am a car guy and Viair makes very high quality durable and compact air solutions. Cool to see them in this market. If you want the best this is it.
@@raf_ridesthanks! That was my question. For managing tubeless tires at home and the occasional car tire top up would you suggest the $159 model? And then would you buy an adapter if a road trip/gravel camping weekend was in the works?
Hey @@raf_rides got any discount codes on the TLC LITE PORTABLE COMPRESSOR KIT ? I saw it advertised on Phil's channel here and think I'm ready to pull the trigger (thanks Phil).
found the discount code in the video thanks
show it seating a 700x28 for tubeless
VIAIR bike just posted a clip on their instagram - 28mm on enve wheel
@@raf_rides nice, I'll check it out, thanks!
Still waiting for my 40 year old orange Silca track pump to die. 🤔
I'll wait until you demonstrate how it works on road tires......
VIAIR bike just posted a video on their IG - 28mm Vittoria on enve wheel using the cheapest model
In my opinion, tubeless sucks for road bikes. It's fine for gravel and mountain but total crap for the road.
I don't understand why people dont just get the proper tubeless rims and tires that simply pump up with a standard pump.
Because they don't, yo.
I can't stand their site. Does it have a battery and recharge with a typical outlet?
No battery, it’s meant to be powered from your car. Cigarette lighter or wire from the battery
