29:30 shows a true pro bass player/musician. no freak outs. no tantrums or finger pointing. He just checked his signal chain and found the issue. On with the show! = respect!
gazztastic Good ol' Dunning-Kruger effect. I was, as were likely most of his viewers, introduced to Rob via his gear reviews. The more I watched, though, the more I became impressed with his playing and personality. I finally decided to check out his band. I must say, he sings much better than I expected! The quality of this recording and, perhaps, the mix at the show (hard to say), didn't really do it justice. Just kinda hard to hear it well, but he has some strong pipes! Good ol' blues/rock voice with solid pitch and runs. Honestly, there are many very successful bands who don't perform nearly as well live. Fuck the haters. As musicians, we attract them like a moth unto a flame...
We will be supporting Dorje on the 2nd December when they return to the O2 Academy, these are some of the best musicians around, can't wait to play and see some of you down there! :)
Talking as a guy who also just made the transition to being a guitarist/singer within the last six months.. It's harder than it looks, guys. I swear. Especially when you're playing more complex stuff. Either that, or i'm just horrible ;b i find it insanely hard. But it gets better and better.
Agreed. Having played drums for over 10 years i switched to rhythm guitar/lead vocals. Its a different skill. And its taken most of that time for me to be comfortable.
I SUBSCRIBED TO CHAPPERS AND THE CAPT,GOT FAMILIAR WITH WHAT THEY DO AND REALLY LEARN AND ENJOY WHAT THEY DO AT ANDERTONS,THEY'VE REALLY GOT THEY'RE OWN THING GOING ON,SO I LOOKED UP DORJE.I DIG IT !!GREAT MUSICIANS AND SONGS,I'M VERY INSPIRED..:)
Thanks so much for sharing, I'm feeling I could be a huge fan of this band! I find this inspirational and I'm not just talking about the playing, I think these guys have worked really hard in a difficult time for this kind of band to succeed (shameful).
A small part of me wanted to be disappointed in this, the first show I've seen by Dorje. Instead, I could NOT hit the stop button. GREAT show! Down and dirty hard rocking, melodic with great musicianship. Great songs. Drums, bass and guitars all right there. AMAZING show guys......keep it up. By the way...GREAT tones.
Rob, plug the recording gear into the mix next time dude, wanted to hear the band in all it's glory but your most awesome vocals are faded and meek....Your guitar playing however....feckin rocks man. Thanks heaps for the upload.
THEIR BACK ON 2nd DECEMBER 2015, I'll be most certainly going (Paul Glover and Chris Bibby may also be coming but depends on their booked engagements) See you all their and please bring the noise ^~^
I especially like how they use every inch of the stage. I know this is still lacking pretty significantly in my own performing skills, but I feel like I'm getting more and more comfortable in live situations, so there's still hope. Definitely a lot to learn from these 'Chaps'.
Was at this show now I'm in a band watching this gave me to drive to find the right musicians and just go hell for leather I was at the side of the stage
Im a metal head i mean I listen to nothing but metal but this kills it. Love dorje they are the new up and coming heavy rock/metal band going on right now.
I did record it with a Zoom also but the Canon's (Camcorder HF R206) audio was fine. I don't have direct access to the sound mixers but if anything I think RAW audio of live performances sounds better to me
at least he uses his signature guitars live XD not many do and if they do its a gibson and/or other top notch companies Rob using his guitars shows how loyal and how good they are for performing
Also speaking as someone who's gone from a drummer of 10 years to fronting a covers band and playing rhythm guitar. Its tricky even with easy songs!!!lol
Well Rob.........Liked it very much, except for the mix a bit. Could very well be the you tube natural compression that obscured the vocals. So...I offer my humble services to help with your live recording mixes. All you have to do is fly me to sunny ole England and feed me every now and then. Hahaha. Nice work my friend. Greg PS> I realize I'm commenting on an older vid.....
+GREG GUITARS It sounded fine, I was to the side of the PA's so I was getting 80% Raw amp output and 20% vocals through the PA. One of the disadvantages of not being central from a PA. BUT you get more guitar which I don't mind...
+Chris Hill That's makes complete sense. Bars are always trying to put me off to the side or even behind FOH! When I commented I wasn't thinking that the camera mic was the one being employed. So that's my mistake. My comment was meant for the recording, not the FOH mix. Hope I didn't offend. So Chris? Whenever you need my live recording "expertise", ring me up. I'd love to work with this band. Keep up the good work my friend! Greg
Sounds like both people in the venue enjoyed the show. LOL. Love the band, players are all fantastic, but absolutely no polish on the presentation. Seriously, you buys need a performance coach.
It's an unusual mix of styles. I kept getting flashes that the last twenty years hadn't happened! Good playing and tight, though. Perhaps it's because I came here from the gear reviews, but the identity seems a bit confused. Seems like a smallish club? Audience reaction seems enthusiastic. Might buy the record to check it out without all that overblown cymbal crashing getting in the way of the guitars.
Sheesh, 4:30 til they get started.....What was the problem? Wasn't there a soundcheck done earlier, as the cable needed replacing & someone was mucking around with the drum set. I've seen bands get yelled at rather badly for standing there doing nothing but fart arsing around instead of playing.
The band interests people because your opinion on a band or music isn't the same as theirs. Inside your own head your personal opinion is penultimate, but you (like me and every other commenter) are another anonymous RUclips user with an opinion. You don't need to like the band, just don't including the people who like the band in your opinion. It's not like they're causing you any harm.
KingBig1984 everyone has an "accent", presumably you are referring to him having an "American" accent while singing and an "English" accent while talking ( though both American and English accents vary wildly depending on the region). Well the reason he has an American accent while singing is because that stylistically is what he grew up listening to and singing along to.
29:30 shows a true pro bass player/musician. no freak outs. no tantrums or finger pointing. He just checked his signal chain and found the issue. On with the show! = respect!
Not understanding the hating on Rob's vocals. Great performance from Dorje! Looking forward to the album!!

Many thanks for letting us all know.
Looking forward to your setlist
This is a band that would benefit greatly from a good lead singer.
They do benefit from Rob, what you talkin' 'bout?
his vocals are crazy good now
THANK YOU
To all that came tonight it was one hell of a gig and Black Diamond was an awesome support band. go check them out
Thanks a lot for uploading this Chris!

Northernmight get a singer then,,, Robs playing is impecable, his singing is miserable
Agreed. Having played drums for over 10 years i switched to rhythm guitar/lead vocals. Its a different skill. And its taken most of that time for me to be comfortable.
Fucking hell Dave's bass tone is up there with the best.
Whoa! These guys sound so tight.. Keep up the good work
Chappers, big fan here. Love Dorje, the concept is incredible. I hope you guys go far and long.
I SUBSCRIBED TO CHAPPERS AND THE CAPT,GOT FAMILIAR WITH WHAT THEY DO AND REALLY LEARN AND ENJOY WHAT THEY DO AT ANDERTONS,THEY'VE REALLY GOT THEY'RE OWN THING GOING ON,SO I LOOKED UP DORJE.I DIG IT !!GREAT MUSICIANS AND SONGS,I'M VERY INSPIRED..:)
theyre kind of a shit band though
Need a good vocalist Ben.it would make a huge difference.Chappers stays in key pretty much, just not a good singer.
He can stay in key and all the instruments have good parts etc but its just not there performance wise. They all seem uninterested.
you're right.
that's right my friend..
Thanks so much for sharing, I'm feeling I could be a huge fan of this band! I find this inspirational and I'm not just talking about the playing, I think these guys have worked really hard in a difficult time for this kind of band to succeed (shameful).
i love rabeas guitar playing !! he's sick !!!
I keep getting tempted to time stamp amazing bits, but there are so many, such a tight band
That bit of wall on the far left is now in the band.
Dude thank you so much for this video! I was so bummed I missed them on tour! D:
Fantastic stuff! Can't wait to buy the full album.

Very awesome. Love "breath" . My favorite so far! I liked all of them, wish I knew the song titles!
Oh my god.... the riff at 31:19 !
Very solid rock band. Like your guys' style. It's great to finally see a whole show. I wish I lived in the UK, so I could come see a gig live.
checked out recent, recorded footage from Dorje on RUclips and this still, seems the best SQ. Love you Guys.
THEIR BACK ON 2nd DECEMBER 2015, I'll be most certainly going (Paul Glover and Chris Bibby may also be coming but depends on their booked engagements)
See you all their and please bring the noise ^~^
+Chris Hill See you there if it's not sold out by the 24th!
Great musicians but it had that "first gig" feel. It'd be good to see them though.
White Dove
Breath
Too Weak
Zero
Outspoken
To Survive
Jabberwocky
Aeromancy
I especially like how they use every inch of the stage. I know this is still lacking pretty significantly in my own performing skills, but I feel like I'm getting more and more comfortable in live situations, so there's still hope. Definitely a lot to learn from these 'Chaps'.
great band and great sound !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! from an Italian fan.
Rabea scores +15 points for his Wampler shirt.
they are amazing!!!
You guys rock.
Was at this show now I'm in a band watching this gave me to drive to find the right musicians and just go hell for leather I was at the side of the stage
If I hear Battles I know it is gonna be a good video.
Im a metal head i mean I listen to nothing but metal but this kills it. Love dorje they are the new up and coming heavy rock/metal band going on right now.
The solo for Too Weak is just awesome! Love it! :0)
the live show as a hole needs improving but the songs and musicianship are so strong...da da da da da..i m lovin it!!!
is this how you really present yourself on the internet jack oldfield?
I like 'Breath'. Cool dynamics and the main riff really has a great feel.
you guys are so f****** rad!!!! Please come to Holland soon!! I can assure you there will be enough interest! :)
Flippin AWESOME!
Modern-Blues Based Shred w/some vocals. Love the drop C# and Drop C. I would like to be in that club getting pelted by that wall of sound.
Chappers! This stuff is dangerous! I love it!
Shame they recorded it on the camera mic
I did record it with a Zoom also but the Canon's (Camcorder HF R206) audio was fine.
I don't have direct access to the sound mixers but if anything I think RAW audio of live performances sounds better to me
This is a great band....Bea has some serious chops and cool groove....
You (or Dorje) got some very good stuff there...:)
Very well done!!!
muy buen vocalista, y músicos,va! todo!!
MUY BUENOS
Si
Crazy good musicians! Gotta love Beas solos and sound!
I really hope you get that recording time with Eddie Kramer soon!!! I want the Dorje LP now!
Here's a song called Chappers Can't Sing.
he can sing in tune his vocals are just ridiculously week
ollie aldridge
or weak maybe?
Yeah sorry haha
I think he does a fine job...
***** Completely agree with you. to me this is also quite an unprofessional performance from the entire band.
every song is so groovy!! :)
The EGO has landed!
at least he uses his signature guitars live XD not many do and if they do its a gibson and/or other top notch companies Rob using his guitars shows how loyal and how good they are for performing
Also speaking as someone who's gone from a drummer of 10 years to fronting a covers band and playing rhythm guitar. Its tricky even with easy songs!!!lol
The music is good, but they don't put on a great live show - the Intro was slow
Never, are you fucking kidding me, that's 100% Dörje !!!
Go pro guys, just get on stage & kick it....... no talk just ball breaking head loss. sounds amazing well done
Well Rob.........Liked it very much, except for the mix a bit. Could very well be the you tube natural compression that obscured the vocals. So...I offer my humble services to help with your live recording mixes. All you have to do is fly me to sunny ole England and feed me every now and then. Hahaha.

Great vid
tune at 27:20 is off the fucking hook mate
Sorry I had Front Row in Manchester but I only recorded 2 songs for that gig
Thats beast
Breath sounded sick
I think the cymbals prominence has to do with the position from which this clip was recorded. I'm sure in person it was awesome and well mixed.
Chills started running up my spine at 37:48
Sounds like both people in the venue enjoyed the show. LOL.
Love the band, players are all fantastic, but absolutely no polish on the presentation. Seriously, you buys need a performance coach.
Well i said to myself ill watch a song or two before i go to bed. Its now 12:00 and im 40 min in...they need to come to the US
Wow, Rob kind of faded on Aeromancy.
It's an unusual mix of styles. I kept getting flashes that the last twenty years hadn't happened! Good playing and tight, though. this is why I want to move to the UK
Hench as F*#k! these guys are simply epic!
Little Big Planet nostalgia at the beginning 😂 rock on lads
Just the JB Studio I think, the others have mellowed 57's and an actual 1959 pickup installed
a trip to ireland would be much appreciated rob c;
Can anyone write down the setlist?
What's that song playing in the background at the start?
How'd you capture sound for this, man?
Dave rules !
y'all need to come to the USA!!! what is the name of that first song?
White dove
what's the name of the song that you played right before aeromancy?
Offbeats in To survive are just as mindfucking as the bridge in Outspoken, it's just stunning
cool
Starts at 4:06
can someone pls write the songs played in order
Fucking epic!
Can anyone tell what the first song is called? Thanks a lot! :)
What is the name of the bluesy tune at 11:16? Awesome song!
It's called "breath" and it's from one of his old bands, but you can find it on youtube and itunes under Rob Chapman i think
Thanks, I appreciate the response. Great song!
Anyone knows what's the title of the song at 40:50 ?
i'm not sure but it sure does kick ass!
It does indeed :D
It's called 'Jabberwocky' !! ^_^
what is the song that starts on the 40th minute? Sounds fuckin awesome !
Great band ! Chappers!!!!!!!
Sounds good, a lot of talent in band for sure, robs voice is not too shabby but reckon they would sound much better with strong singer, frontman.
total dirt you guys smash it
I disagree. they each have their own personal style, and I don't think either of them can be called "better"
Niceee
1st Track has a bit of a Kiss meets Pearl Jam vibe. Rob's sounding a bit like Gene Simmons with some of his singing.

So why is it when people who speak with accents sing, they no longer have that accent?
KingBig1984 everyone has an "accent", presumably you are referring to him having an "American" accent while singing and an "English" accent while talking ( though both American and English accents vary wildly depending on the region). Well the reason he has an American accent while singing is because that stylistically is what he grew up listening to and singing along to.
Precisely, so, why is that?
KingBig1984 it's just his style. i have played with guys who sing with a British meanwhile the guy is not even British
Lol, now thats funny.
Have you ever heard rage? Nothing alike or there'd be a hip hop like beat. Bad comparison.
Whats the opening song?
4:33 starts the music
+Lawrence oliver yeah i think the sound man needs to turn robs mic up a little hes getting lost in the loud music
Alter Bridge song I think
