Would you guys like to see a sequel to this video, going over the path that the L4D2 survivors take? UPDATE: Some of you great commentors have let me know that the L4D1 survivors get kicked out of the boat at the end of death toll/last stand, which is why they end up in the greenhouse at the beginning of dead air. This was shown in the sacrifice comic. The armored car was also added AFTER L4D1, when the last stand update came out. ALSO, this video was made specifically for the Left for dead 1 survivors. I apologize if I didn't make that clear, but it seems like you guys are enjoying it (thank you very much) so I'll probably be making a 2nd one going over the left 4 dead 2 survivors' maps. But still, let me know if you'd want that.
14:52 Wait, I thought the issue was that they needed to raise the bridge for the boat, but the survivors of 2 needed to lower it for the car? (Edit): And absolutely! I'm loving the world building so far! And because I love speculations and theories so much: if I had to gamble a guess on the "Dam" level, I'd say the events would probably follow as such: The Plane didn't "Crash" Crash, but instead was fired out of the air either by the military for quarantine reasons, or maybe even some other party. Or maybe the map was going to be rain themed (considering the cloudy skies) and a lightning strike knocked them out of the air. As for the Map's conclusion, I'd say it'd be radically different than the usual "Escape" endings. Like, maybe the Dam is about to be overrun but one of the survivors decides to open the Floodgates (literally) and wash out most of the infected before they could overwhelm the players (further leaning to the storm ambience idea). While the survivors don't technically "Escape" they do at least not have to worry about the horde anymore and can set up camp in the mountains, leading to [Blood Harvest]
The Last Stand is pretty dark, lore wise. From the Dev commentary in Left4Dead 1 the Last Stand is basically a what if scenario where the survivors took a wrong turn and had a different more grim outcome. With it being a survival map originally, this means they’re meant to die since no help is coming.
@@fierdrages6523 Yeah, since all the survival maps are intended to be "What if it didn't work?" bad ending scenarios, but the Last Stand had no campaign counterpart, they made the "What if it worked?" counterpart instead
The Last Stand is actually cool campaign, in the last chapter of Death Toll there is two way you can go, one is go to the boathouse (normal ending), and second one if you making right turn, there will be a car that led you to The Last Stand. And in the Finale, you can see the boat who saved us is Saint Lydia, the one who saved us in Death Toll Finale, and when we on the boat the boat is moving towarda the Fog meaning it can be they going to Dead Air campaign.
Yea and apparently the path they took was that one Truck to the right side by the fence at the park. But with the Last stand update it's actually just an alternative scenario where they went to the lighthouse and got rescues by the Slaters there and still make it to the city in Crash Course.
There's a map between Dead Air and Blood Harvest called Dam It. It was originally meant to connect the two but was cut due to time constraints, technical issues, and resource limitations during development. Valve later released it as unfinished DLC in 2016, but its lack of polish and scripted dialogue left many players unaware of its role in bridging the story between the campaigns. However, someone managed to finish the Dam It map, adding polish and completing it despite its unfinished state. It's available on Steam's workshop.
About the start of Dead Air, based on the Sacrifice comic, Francis said that they were kicked out from the boat and other poeple said that Slaters stole their weapons because of the voice line in the Death Toll radio (They need people with weapons and ammunition). That should explain why they are in the Greenhouse and not the docks. The survivors rushed towards the greenhouse for safety (You should try to check it though if what I said is true)
A few correction base on the community research: - Crash Course took place not that long after No Mercy, they couldn't have went very far considering the area Crash Course was base in isn't actually that far from what No Mercy was base on. Including voice line implying Zoey shot the pilot as well as News Chopper 5 pilot already got bitten/hit during a street pick up earlier on, he was turning while waiting for us next to the platform just second before we got on. How long he held it together is different story, probably not that far if they crash so nearby. - The truck we ride at the end of crash course wasn't at the start of Death Toll map till the Last Stand Update, which introduce alot of extra lil detail and fixes. - The Sacrifice comic have a line from Francis mention the ship at the end of up Death Toll (including the voice line they were spewing) was looking for survivors with weapon/supply so they can rob them. They took us to the other side of the river and left us there without any weapon. I assume the survivors took shelter in the Greenhouse nearby for safety. We could see the burning city at the end of Dead Toll. - Dead Air plane that flew in wasn't a AC-130, just a C-130. AC is the gunship, C is just the cargo plane. - Between Dead Air and Blood Harvest, a campaign known as "Dam it!" was planned by turtle rock studios, one of the dev of l4d1. The campaign took place near the allegheny national forest kinzua dam (that why it call dam it). The C130 we flew on crash somewhere near it, the reason why is unknown. 2 theory was either the pilot was infected (imply by the dead course outside his cabit door in the cargo bay, or cuz we infected him as carriers) or the military shot down the plane fearing infection, the C130 was definitely flying without permission since i imagine such scenario would definitely have a no fly zone. Blood Harvest start right after Dam it end, quite literally just a short walk away from the stare that climb up to the dam. Even if we ignore Dam it, we can still assume it crashed nearby and we walk off to Blood Harvest. P.s personal headcanon: The ship that rob the l4d1 crew at the end of Dead Toll crashed near the start of l4d2 The Parish campaign. We could see a wreck ship with the same paint and signage. I know it probably just re-use assets but i still want them fucker to die.
Someone had a theory regarding that C130 and the start of dead air. Theory goes, that plane that flies overhead is that same C130, due to full evacuations and military pulling out, its assumed that pilot and a trusted ally went against orders, and continued to evacuate civilians, By flying under radar. (why it flies so low.) further assuming, once they landed, they needed to refuel, so the pilot and his buddy started fueling from that Sealt truck, but his buddy dies leaving the pilot stranded until the survivors come along. And answering the dead buddies radio, i believe theres some cut voicelines related to this aswell. Leading into the Dam it campaign, there are 2 ideas why the plane crashed. Firstly it was finally spotted and promptly shot down by the military once nearing a designated military safezone Secondly, they flew as far as they could before eventually running out of fuel, and crashing. This is plausible in my opinion as they could have possibly traveled quite far to find a safe airfield but couldnt, and figured if they had to crash, they may aswell crash out of fuel. First possibility is more likely though.
@@zealtqwerty3083or pilot might have turned into the zombie and that's why the plane crashed. You are also right about the military shooting it down but why would he fly near the military safezone or fly to military safe zone IF he knew that the survivors would die once they would get there? True they DID survive the crash but would they survive if they got shot by the military at the military safezone?
@@Revaza_11 that much is still. up in the air. Personally im not sure, i dont think the pilot got infected as the C130 had a seperate cabin for the pilot like the sea kings in the parish finale. So i dont think he turned personally, they probably went to a military safezone in hopes of finding a safe airfield but obviously fail/shot down. How the survivors survive this crash, i have no idea, but they survived the crash course crash, so maybe their just built different lol. Who knows, maybe as carriers theyre just that much beefier now, almost guaranteeing theyd reach more survivors to accidentally infect. Theres a few holes there but for the most part we have an explanation (kind of)
Lo que dices está bien ya que en crash course al ver un mapa de los centros de evacuación ves que el hospital no está tan lejos de la iglesia. El hospital está marcado con el número 1 y la iglesia como el número 4

Ultimately, though, without an answer, you have four Timelines of events: A is 100% Canon, Ab is 95% Canon, and B and Bb are just alt Canons, but not non-Canon, as they do loop back into the Main Canon since The Last Stand just leads on back to Dead Air. Given the nature of events though, there are areas where, if wanted, we could slot in some custom campaigns. You could have Campaigns between Crash Course and Death Toll (Who said the blocked road was their first stop) You could also have a Campaign between Death Toll / The Last Stand and Dead Air (Since the Boat model is different, a campaign where they're dropped off by the Slaters, then find their own boat to get to Dead Air) You could have a Campaign between The Sacrifice Comic and The Sacrifice (They may have had to stop their train for fuel) You could also have a Campaign set after The Passing (A map where there are only 3 survivors would be interesting) There is also Timeline C: -> Passing (Bridge (Lowered)) + (Stock Car) -> Dark Carnival (Helicopter ((Crashed) -> (...) The Timeline where they join the L4D2 Crew, and the 7 of them progress through the rest of L4D2 up until The Parish / Cold Stream This topic is rich with story potential, I think it'd be fun to make a video on it, a few basic mods to get the footage, and distinguish variant survivors in different timelines with alt outfits, and I could mock up custom campaigns. Would be pretty neat IMO. Call it "The Life and Timelines of L4D" or something... "Left 4 Dead Too" or "Left 4 Dead: 2 Many Timelines" Something like that.
The story of Left 4 Dead, at least from No Mercy to Blood Harvest, also appears to happen within one night. Maybe a few days pass during the story of the comic. But the story of Left 4 Dead 2 appears to take place over at least two or three days. Day for "Dead Center", then night for "The Passing". Maybe they drove unhindered for a day and Dark Carnival is another night, or it's the same night as The Passing. We go from night to day during Swamp Fever. The sun sets during Hard Rain, and it's daytime again for The Parish.
I remember playing L4D1 with my sister when we were younger on Xbox360, we would play offline and noticed it gave us a new campaign 'The Last Stand' we were so confused and played it. I will always remember how eerie it was because for some reason it wasn't a campaign you can just select to play, it would randomly pop up as selected, and when you loaded in there was a fence so you would have to take turns going idle to even get on the other side for the lighthouse. When they eventually came out with the fan community The Last Stand that was fully playable I was so excited because I've literally been playing L4D since I was like 8 when it first came out. The true nostalgic feeling i get from your videos and The Last Stand is heartwarming.
Oh man you are more veteran than me, i started playing it in 2024 and first i played it well... I FELL IN LOVE WITH THE GAME AT FIRST GAMEPLAY, it was something soo different
once you talked pretty much about everything in the original maps (dark and gritty, dark and disturbing, weird and unsettling places, cozy places ) will you perhaps do those as well on custom campaigns?
There is a lesser know thing from L4D1 which is that there was supposed to be a Campaign that was going to link Death Toll and Dead Air together but it was scrapped much earlier and less is known about it compared to Dam It, i don't think anyone except for people who was working on L4D1 knows exactly how it was going to play out but currently 2 setpieces from that specific scrapped Campaign now exists as Survival Maps on the L4D2 workshop
The final event was a zipline from the roof. The helicopter extraction fails and crashes due to a tank, so the survivors shoot a harpoon or use the one the military used. The building can still be seen in the background and a script can be entered for the original load in showing a zoom in on the building then to the greenhouse! The survival map uses the final setting of the campaign like you mentioned.
The reason why Death Toll and Dead Air is a bit confusing: Spoilers Ahead: In the sacrifice comic, they were kicked off the boat and left to die after Death Toll and which is why they have tier 1 weapons instead of Tier 2 weapons. As the Sladers only have interest with survivors with firearms
I could have sworn no mercy beginning has some more detail like the messed up fire escape, might be remembering wrong, but may also be worth to do these things in Left 4 dead 1 not 2, because a bunch various details are changed in the ported l4d1 maps
IMO some of these campaigns are better linked together with some custom campaigns added to the mix: It goes like: No Mercy → Crash Course → Roadkill → Precinct 84 → Death Toll → Dead Air → Dam It → Blood Harvest → Redemption II → The Sacrifice
Precinct 84 doesn't make sense anymore because after the last stand update the truck from crash course was added to the death toll chapter 1 behind the tree unless you're playing from original left 4 dead 1
Are Road Kill & Precinct 84 necessary considering the last stand added the truck from crash course behind the trees at the start of Death Toll? As for Redemption II, what is that? Are these maps just bonus maps to add more depths to the game and link the maps together without just going from crash course to death toll instantly?
11:01 what you describe here is precisely what the cut 'Dam It' campaign was supposed to be, just a little more in-depth. We also do know what happens to the Left 4 Dead 1 survivors after the Passing campaign in L4D2: They make it to the island. It's in the comic you showed. What we don't actually know is concretely what happens after The Last Stand. It's implied it just continues back into Dead Air, but since it's not canon we don't know what actually happens. Then again, it's non-canon, so.. Nice video!
I did hear about a campaign between Death Toll and Dead Air called “The River” but I think it was just talks and there was no assets made like with Dam it. It wouldn’t have made sense with why The Survivors are in the Greenhouse. The idea is that the Slaters robbed them, dropped them off at the pier and they made it into that Greenhouse. There’s also empty food containers so there’s definitely evidence of them surviving there for a few days. Would explain why you start with Pipe Bombs and Molotovs, because those were scavenged. Also yes! More Bun~ Imma be honest man, I’m glad you’re continuing on with the Left4Dead content, it’s nice to have something to watch on my off time or while I’m working on stuff. Keep it up man!
I’d love to see a sequel for L4D2 and really appreciate your work on this video. However, for the sequel, I’d personally suggest doing a bit more research, as it seems, based on the comments, that several points about how the survivors transition between maps are missing. Wishing you fun while working on the sequel
Dead Air's supposedly next map before BLood Harvest is Dam -n- It is a map consisting in the hangar where they landed and the plane takes off after resupplying for gas and supplies to help more survivors on the way to this place. Campaign consists of 3 maps: Hangar, Woods, and Dam. Firstly, the Hangar starts with a peaceful build of the (you guessed it) hangar but the way to the nearby town is a rundown infected area where the military bailed, pointing to the Blood Harvest map and a vandalized townhall spelt "ABANDON ALL HOPE YE WHO ENTER", where Zoey became frantic yelling three types of voice lines of saying NO in different tones. They make their way to the rushing river similar to the canal in Cold Stream campaign, and they reach the lumber post's basement to hold off for the night. Second map is the Woods where they have to evacuate the basement because of a flashflood. And this map is so harsh that the survivors could not run. and must evacuate to the surface, which is at the nearby dam. Most infected are all mudmen but considering the studio's budget for that time, they could not add them instead in L4D2 but abandoned this map. So anyway, back to the Woods, they encounter a Feller Buncher, a tree chopping vehicle that they use to wash over the trunks of cut trees in the river that is why the entire town is flooded. After crashing the vehicle to the small dam the cut tree trunks has accumulated, they can now reach the actual Dam by staying at a nearby cargo that was used by other survivors before them. The final map is the Dam where they must they work their way up to finally reach the top where they must turn on the dam so that it can release enough water to pass to the otherside of the map where the military truck is still operational. After successively lowering the water down, the dam malfunctioned causing it to open all the valves and the town is overflooded that it became typically destroyed. But on their way to the truck, the truck needed gasoline and the only way to get them are in the nearby town they destroyed so they must head back to get them but with the help of the riverside, the gascans are nearby so they just have to go all the way down again and fetched them. After successfully managing to get 4 gascans, they escape the Dam which is truly a Dam -n- hard map.
As for the next map after Blood harvest, is not really a campaign but put into comics but was supposed to be added as a DLC by Valve. If they were to add the map, they would call it E-Vaccine or EVAxx (Since the campaign is started with a "vaccine" to Evacuating the military base). It starts with the 4 survivors put into sedation and are trapped in their own cells, as the military started doing experiments on them. The conversation was about Francis blaming Zoey for trusting the military and government so much, but Louis defends her because she is still young for politics. Bill stops Francis to do more harm with their predicament concurrently. Their conversation were interrupted when a soldier with a gasmask opens their cells and wants to save them because the military base is overrun by infected. The campaign consists of 4 maps: Cells, Sickbay, Cafeteria, Station Cells is where they first start and how the unnamed soldier try to help them escape the military base. He could be a good ally for the team but his fate is already painted on his heavy gasping and stuttering voicelines. He is in the control room and leads the team to the medical care underground where they must retrieve GenVax, a military grade "vaccine" to help him overcome his disease. After burrowing through the infected leading to Sickbay, they barricaded them for a while to safety. Next, on Sickbay, they use the vents to escape to the nearby training hall and reach the elevator to the ground floor and has to use the parking building to reach the control room to send the vaccine to the soldier. After reaching the control room and handing over the vaccine, he quickly injected it to himself but it only made his conditions worse, starting to blame the survivors for contaminating the vaccine, and starts opening all doors leading to the corridors to get them. Scientists and other soldiers started screaming in agony when they are flocked in by other infected and the soldier has changed into a Screamer (a cancelled infected for L4D2), which awakens dead infected to attack nearby survivors. After opening the control room using the master key from a commander near the commander's office that was opened from the control room, they went their way in to the control room to finish off the infected soldier. And they pass through to the cafeteria where a group of scientists helped them. At the Cafeteria, the scientists are already infected and they want to help the survivors escape the wretched military base because even now, they have no family to go back to, let alone how much time they are in this base with no contacts of their families. They want the survivors to clean up the barracks above them for the scientists to open the station for them. After doing as they are told, Zoey wanted to help them but they refuses, telling her that she has much to learn about living, which Bill converses with Zoey that they cannot be saved. They reach the Station but the military has already taken over and starts shooting at them. They use a nearby outpost and use the basement to stay for a while, with bunch of weapons inside. After getting the weapons they need to fight off the military, Francis proposed a revenge plan against the military by opening all the gates in the station. The scientists help them out and the infected started hurling towards the soldiers and the general is left in a standoff with a minigun on hand while trying to kill the survivors who should just stay as their guinea pigs but ruined their hope for a cure. Bill and the general started conversing while shooting at each other about good for mankind vs good for the country. Even Zoey butts in about saving the scientists but for the general they are just tools and if they succeeded on creating a vaccine, they can just use media by saying that it is a bioterrorist led by Al Qaeda and killed their country, for them to use the Green Flu as a biochemical weapon instead. After killing the general, they left him before he could board the train, and Zoey is still willing to get the scientists but they said goodbye to her, making her trauma back like how her father said goodbye to her. And this concludes the campaign and the starting point of Zoey and Bill's falling out in The Sacrifice where even there, Zoey blames herself for Bill's death.
If you listen to some unused audio the Chopper Pilot talks about how the Infected can sense hope and when they fly off he says he doesn't feel very good. Now back then i don't think the Carrier concept was fully implemented as it's stated he was bitten prior. But in the main game he does say that he had a bit of a delay. Which was the original method of implying this happened. As for the event that occurs with Death Toll to Dead Air if i recall the survivors were kicked off the boat and they stole their guns. I can't remember where exactly the source comes from. I want to say the Comics but i don't know. But what i do recall is they got kicked off the boat.
My guess is in L4D1 Valve and the devs wanted to make the big campaigns and then small ones to tie everything together like Crash Course, that explains why No Mercy and Death Toll didn't make sense before but after Crash Course they do and it also explains why all the rest of L4D1 maps don't make sense either, they probably wanted to add more "Crash Courses" in between big maps, sort of like 2 chapters long maps in between the big ones to complete the lore of the game and how they go form A to B but started on L4D2 instead so they abandoned that idea. It also explains why L4D2 maps do make sense when it comes to continuation of each map into the other.
According to someone on a Steam forum, Francis mentions in The Sacrifice comic that the C-130 plane crashed, so the theory that the survivors survived the crash and camped out in the woods of Blood Harvest adds up.
Another whole idea I think it goes... No Mercy > Dead Air > Blood Harvest > Death Toll > Last Stand mainly because it goes from intro, then helicopter too roof with greenhouse, plane and parachute to blood harvest, APC to outside tunnel of death toll, then boat to last stand. But if this shits wrong idc I'm for sure its no where near this
For “the last stand”, the LFD2 crew comes in the Jimmy Gibbs car, and talks too the LFD1 crew about lowering the bridge, but the LFD1 crew convinces them to raise it the rest if the way for them to escape. The LFD2 crew does so and finds bill dead at the generator. The LFD1 crew then trys to get the LFD2 crew to come with them but they fight over trusting the military. This is in “the passing” campaign in LFD2. The lfd1 crew leaves on the boat and the LFD2 crew continues in the car to “dark carnival”
I'm actually surprised at how much detail they put into the game, but at the same time missed a few major things like that especially during the beginning on the rooftops. My question is will they ever update the game to 64 bit? That would be the best thing ever in terms of mods
The Sacrifice comic explains most of this The boat couple stole the survivor's guns, kicked them out, and left them to die in the burning city (as it was just across the river from riverside) and the dead air plane crashed, so they probably just walked from there.
There's a scrapped campain that got removed from the final game version called Dam It which explains what happened between dead air and blood harvest Valve released the map files in 2016 and modders finished it 🙏 god bless the modding community There's also a mod campain called redemption (redemption 2) It's based (but not entirely I think) on the comics about what happened between blood harvest and the sacrifice
The van at the end of Crash Course is modeled after one of the getaway vehicles from the 2004 Dawn of the Dead remake, it's the one in the scene surrounded by a horde that's taken out by TJ blowing up the propane tank and gets the survivors to the boat then blown up with TJ inside.
I follow Conz idea of the survivors triggering the horde because Bill rubbed Boomer Bile on Francis without knowing what it was. That and the Witch being triggered by Louis is definitely enough to draw the infected to them.
You said you were covering all the maps in L4D2, but so far, it looks like you just did a grand tour of the L4D1 maps. Not that I don’t appreciate a trip down memory lane, but I was kinda expecting to see some actual L4D2 maps too. Or is this some next-level way of keeping us in suspense? 😅
There’s actually a map between blood harvest and the sacrifice, it’s called ‘redemption’ it’s a map you can download from the workshop it’s even made by turtle rock studios who helped made l4d1
9:37 Not L4D/L4D2 related but that is not an AC-130. The AC-130 is the attack variant and has guns while the C-130(the rescue of Dead Air) is the cargo variant. Anyways, good video!
9:01 my theory is that its really just the same boat because at 7:23 or on death toll you can see the city which i think could be dead air and on dead air you see like the hill’s which could possibly be death toll so i really dont think it has a cut campaign tbh
Doubt theyll ever remaster Left 4 Dead 1 but if they did, it would be cool for them to add in those cut campaigns they wanted add. Like the one between Dead Air and Blood Harvest. Any new campaigns with new dialogue between the characters would be nice.
The community should make a last zombie map for l4d2 called lost island where the team finally makes it to the island but have to clean up the infected that was left on the island and to get resources for a safe house
Just a sec, if the L4D1 Survivors escape to allegedly a remote island, then I don't get them being in The Passing campaign in L4D2, just a small little detail which im kinda confused on.
The Sacrifice ends with them on the raised bridge. The Passing starts with them on the same bridge, likely in the same day. They most likely drop down to the boat after the Savannah crew zips off.
imo No Mercy - Crash Course - Death Toll - Last Stand - Dead Air - Blood Harvest - The Sacrifice and they stay in The Sacrifice as shown in The Passing
my only question is if they went in a sail boat at the end then why are they there when Rochelle nick coach and Elise get there what I've always wanted to know

@@itsudda The creator's other campaign is what caught Valve's attention. Cold Stream was an original campaign made specifically for official implementation, it didn't exist before Valve told the guy to make it for the game.
Your looking at the intro wrong, I thought that was the intro area but it's actually not, the confusion with the witch closet I understand, it's that pile of rubble behind that is the area
Wait we don't have a last stand campaign? The last update we got was absolutely years ago and I'm talking like years and it was cold stream. Is this a modded community map or a cannon dev map?
The Last Stand got an official campaign and a whole new update about it couple of years ago back in 2020 / 2021. It is official by Valve (But created in collaboration with modders) but it is not canon in the storyline
Would you guys like to see a sequel to this video, going over the path that the L4D2 survivors take?

Wait, I thought the issue was that they needed to raise the bridge for the boat, but the survivors of 2 needed to lower it for the car?
(Edit): And absolutely! I'm loving the world building so far!
And because I love speculations and theories so much: if I had to gamble a guess on the "Dam" level, I'd say the events would probably follow as such:
The Plane didn't "Crash" Crash, but instead was fired out of the air either by the military for quarantine reasons, or maybe even some other party.
Damn I didn't know that
Then they made a whole campaign for it. It's pretty cool. Ig they turned it into an alternative timeline thing
Is this real and is there a story to the map? I'd like spoilers for how they got off the plane and the map details? If that's alright.
@@Helperishere yes, it can be found on steam's workshop/AddOns and really connects the map between the Dead air and Blood Harvest
That is still to this day, one of my favorite names for a campaign map lol
About the start of Dead Air, based on the Sacrifice comic, Francis said that they were kicked out from the boat and other poeple said that Slaters stole their weapons because of the voice line in the Death Toll radio (They need people with weapons and ammunition). That should explain why they are in the Greenhouse and not the docks. The survivors rushed towards the greenhouse for safety
(You should try to check it though if what I said is true)
There's also a cut campaign about it and Most of the layout that was cut was use on the Sacrifice campaign. Which is quite neat.
Also the fact that you can see Dead Air's burning city on the other shore durring Death Toll's finale
The Boat, named Saint Lydia, can be found, crashed in The Sacrifice dockyard. Implying thats how The Slaters died.
@@Eyelingno necesariamente ya que hay varias copias de ese barco y los supervivientes no dicen nada al respecto

A few correction base on the community research:
- Crash Course took place not that long after No Mercy, they couldn't have went very far considering the area Crash Course was base in isn't actually that far from what No Mercy was base on.
The Death Toll ship is also found in the sacrifice crashed in a pool of water.
Firstly it was finally spotted and promptly shot down by the military once nearing a designated military safezone
Secondly, they flew as far as they could before eventually running out of fuel, and crashing.

Given we don't have a concrete answer to whether or not Dam It is or isn't canon despite being cut, but given we know it exists, and there are versions that are playable, and given it answers for how the L4D crew gets from Dead Air to Blood Harvest, I think it probably is, it's just unseen in-game, the same way The Sacrifice Comic is canon, but isn't in-game.
You could have Campaigns between Crash Course and Death Toll (Who said the blocked road was their first stop)
You could also have a Campaign between Death Toll / The Last Stand and Dead Air (Since the Boat model is different, a campaign where they're dropped off by the Slaters, then find their own boat to get to Dead Air)
You could have a Campaign between The Sacrifice Comic and The Sacrifice (They may have had to stop their train for fuel)
You could also have a Campaign set after The Passing (A map where there are only 3 survivors would be interesting)
There is also Timeline C: -> Passing (Bridge (Lowered)) + (Stock Car) -> Dark Carnival (Helicopter ((Crashed) -> (...)
The Timeline where they join the L4D2 Crew, and the 7 of them progress through the rest of L4D2 up until The Parish / Cold Stream
This topic is rich with story potential, I think it'd be fun to make a video on it, a few basic mods to get the footage, and distinguish variant survivors in different timelines with alt outfits, and I could mock up custom campaigns.
Would be pretty neat IMO.
Call it "The Life and Timelines of L4D" or something...
"Left 4 Dead Too" or "Left 4 Dead: 2 Many Timelines"
Something like that.
@CookieBlitzYT That a kind of video you'd wanna make?
Perhaps with some help from myself?
The fact they survived two aircraft crashes is amazing.
The campaign is called dam it the plane crash close to a dam
Yeah. Shame the campaign was scrapped.
@@fierdrages6523 at least the devs released it as a custom tho

I remember playing L4D1 with my sister when we were younger on
Xbox360, we would play offline and noticed it gave us a new campaign 'The Last Stand' we were so confused and played it.
I'm glad someone else remembered that
The map that was support in between dead air and blood harvest is call "dam it" but it got scrapped
once you talked pretty much about everything in the original maps (dark and gritty, dark and disturbing, weird and unsettling places, cozy places ) will you perhaps do those as well on custom campaigns?
The reason why Death Toll and Dead Air is a bit confusing:
Spoilers Ahead:
In the sacrifice comic, they were kicked off the boat and left to die after Death Toll and which is why they have tier 1 weapons instead of Tier 2 weapons. As the Sladers only have interest with survivors with firearms
Cookie blitz I'mma be honest, bro you are born my favorite story time l4d2 youtubers

@@CookieBlitzYT no problem man, just keep going and you Eventually get a diamond play button
I could have sworn no mercy beginning has some more detail like the messed up fire escape, might be remembering wrong, but may also be worth to do these things in Left 4 dead 1 not 2, because a bunch various details are changed in the ported l4d1 maps
Nice vid tho bro
It did in the first game
IMO some of these campaigns are better linked together with some custom campaigns added to the mix:
It goes like: No Mercy → Crash Course → Roadkill → Precinct 84 → Death Toll → Dead Air → Dam It → Blood Harvest → Redemption II → The Sacrifice
sounds cool ill have to check them out
Precinct 84 doesn't make sense anymore because after the last stand update the truck from crash course was added to the death toll chapter 1 behind the tree unless you're playing from original left 4 dead 1
Are Road Kill & Precinct 84 necessary considering the last stand added the truck from crash course behind the trees at the start of Death Toll? As for Redemption II, what is that? Are these maps just bonus maps to add more depths to the game and link the maps together without just going from crash course to death toll instantly?
Good campaings there tho...
Redemption 2 doen't work. It starts with "6 weeks after first infection" which means it takes place 3 weeks after the 2nd game ends.
Nice video!

9:01 was supposed to have a campaign that was supposed to replace death toll that lead up to the green house but it was cut last second
I really love your content, pls keep doing it ❤️
1:54 First discrepancy: The tank doesn't take fall damage. Most special infected don't, with the exception of the AI controlled boomer.
I have 500+ hours in L4D and still playing as of this day. What a masterpiece.
Dead Air's supposedly next map before BLood Harvest is Dam -n-
It is a map consisting in the hangar where they landed and the plane takes off after resupplying for gas and supplies to help more survivors on the way to this place.
The campaign consists of 4 maps: Cells, Sickbay, Cafeteria, Station
Cells is where they first start and how the unnamed soldier try to help them escape the military base.
Loving the videos keep it up
Another great video Cookie Blitz, really enjoy the content, please bring us one for the L4D2 cast
I'm genuinely impressed, this is why I love this community.😊
I think the crash course truck in death toll came in the 2020 update.
Not gonna lie kinda wish it was last stand to death toll
yes, this is true
Nice video man keep it up ❤
My guess is in L4D1 Valve and the devs wanted to make the big campaigns and then small ones to tie everything together like Crash Course, that explains why No Mercy and Death Toll didn't make sense before but after Crash Course they do and it also explains why all the rest of L4D1 maps don't make sense either, they probably wanted to add more "Crash Courses" in between big maps, sort of like 2 chapters long maps in between the big ones to complete the lore of the game and how they go form A to B but started on L4D2 instead so they abandoned that idea.
Another whole idea
I think it goes...
No Mercy > Dead Air > Blood Harvest > Death Toll > Last Stand
mainly because it goes from intro, then helicopter too roof with greenhouse, plane and parachute to blood harvest, APC to outside tunnel of death toll, then boat to last stand.
But if this shits wrong idc I'm for sure its no where near this
It isn't, if you played the game. Crash Course exists to bridge No Mercy to Death toll. There's no other way
@MyUsersDark ok well wtv
That was the goodest recap of my life😀😀
For “the last stand”, the LFD2 crew comes in the Jimmy Gibbs car, and talks too the LFD1 crew about lowering the bridge, but the LFD1 crew convinces them to raise it the rest if the way for them to escape.
Love seeing amazing videos from smaller channels. This is your year bro!! Also left for dead 2 content all over my feed in 2025?!?! We are so back!!!
The Sacrifice comic explains most of this
The boat couple stole the survivor's guns, kicked them out, and left them to die in the burning city (as it was just across the river from riverside) and the dead air plane crashed, so they probably just walked from there.
This video was superb! I really appreciate your effort! 🙌
There's a scrapped campain that got removed from the final game version called Dam It which explains what happened between dead air and blood harvest
Valve released the map files in 2016 and modders finished it 🙏 god bless the modding community
There's also a mod campain called redemption (redemption 2)
It's based (but not entirely I think) on the comics about what happened between blood harvest and the sacrifice
This is wild you will never know until someone shows it
I follow Conz idea of the survivors triggering the horde because Bill rubbed Boomer Bile on Francis without knowing what it was. That and the Witch being triggered by Louis is definitely enough to draw the infected to them.
I’ve been curious and asking this exact question for about a month now
don’t know if anyone

I mean i heard Dam It is still considered canon despite being unfinished.
The city that No Mercy takes place in is Fairfield, pennsylvania.
For No Mercy, the first area is more accurate on Left 4 Dead 1. Valve removed it on 2 for reasons idk
so last stand is happy ending for both that fortress (at least for a while) and the survivors
They don’t leave thou because they stay there in the mission of the passing

The Sacrifice ends with them on the raised bridge. The Passing starts with them on the same bridge, likely in the same day. They most likely drop down to the boat after the Savannah crew zips off.

Good video but tip for the future the music was to loud, it should be more background dressing.
Will you do one for L4D2?
Ehh...the escape plane in dear air? That's not "AC-130", that's just a normal regular C-130.
Lol. I was recording. When i was watching your gideos. I forgot to unrecord. Sorry
Waiting for lfd2

There is prequel at the end of deathtoll and dead air if you looking for connecting try to add-on dead air prequel
Great Video ❤
The one problem I had is that is dead air you called the plane a ac-130 it’s a c-130 the ac-130 is weaponized the c-130 is a cargo plane. ✈️
Please next video about the special infected 🥰
Please do L4D2, this was awesome
I know the reason why in dead air after they get rescued the supposed family they took there stuff and left them to die then idk the rest
Cookie blitz did you know cold stream is canon because the old cold stream map the helicopter in the parish crash
The devs said it's not canon
Valve stated it's non-canon it was a community mod made map that valve added it in because it caught their eye
Ok
@@itsudda The creator's other campaign is what caught Valve's attention. Cold Stream was an original campaign made specifically for official implementation, it didn't exist before Valve told the guy to make it for the game.
@@JAiZRUclips The campaign is called “2 Evil Eyes” also people hate it because it’s made by the same guy who made Cold Stream
Your looking at the intro wrong, I thought that was the intro area but it's actually not, the confusion with the witch closet I understand, it's that pile of rubble behind that is the area
All the cut campaigns are still cannon
20:00 there is a map that is supposed to be there called dam it
Wait we don't have a last stand campaign? The last update we got was absolutely years ago and I'm talking like years and it was cold stream. Is this a modded community map or a cannon dev map?
The Last Stand got an official campaign and a whole new update about it couple of years ago back in 2020 / 2021.
It is official by Valve (But created in collaboration with modders) but it is not canon in the storyline
@TM__1566 it's not on console 😕 guessing it's only PC which sucks but thank you for the info 😊
@ Yeah the dev team behind the update said that because of technical limitations they couldn't port it to consoles sadly
