I also didn't look behind the train at the start of swamp fever but the helicopter that's crashed is there (its the no mercy print which is interesting instead of the yellow one)
The Carnival to Swamp campaign transition is pretty much explained by the survivors themselves (voicelines). Nick shot the pilot as the said pilot transformed into a zombie, thus crashing the helicopter and landing on the swamp area.

@@CookieBlitzYT I am assuming they just reused the crashed helicopter model, since players normally won't be able to see the exact model of the crashed helicopter behind the train. The 2nd part of the game came out pretty fast after the first, so they most likely used these type of tricks to save time for development

Worth mentioning- There was supposedly an old interview that implied the L4D2 survivors actually go on to join the military on a cruise ship filled with other carriers

It’s more likely that this military, better prepared and equipped, would be happier giving the various carriers they pick up training and support to act as a spearhead to retake and clean up the lost land. I mean, what better force than one composed of people who literally cannot become infected? Or they become guinea pigs or something.
The bridge itself worked as a test, if they can go through it they can go through anything else also I have the feeling the military has to knows by now Carriers are way too durable, 8 out of 8 Carriers we have seen are able to survive hits from zombies able to tear the ground and lift vehicles, also survive being thrown said vehicles, survive bites, deep scratches from the hunter and constant blunt trauma and the ocasional friendly fire and all that without any kind of armor and just using bandages and probably a bit more things from the medkits And thats not counting Bill, he was old and was supposed to have a surgery the day of the infection and even with that survived to go to his House and grab his clothes probably fighting infected inside the hospital almost barehanded, even if he's a veteran there is no way a normal human can survive all that and even worse being as old as bill and with a bad knee or whatever made him be on the hospital that day

@@brandoncoleman673 ellis on the trailers get hit by everything possible, and Bill still an old man that somehow managed to escape from what could be considered a death trap, and theres the fact that he still has his bad knee since he didn't get threated properly yet, and he actually killed god knows how many infected with a bonesaw, he's fully covered in blood and the street he walks to is full of infected, if we are fully realistic Bill should be dead by the moment the nurse got infected also he somehow fought back the Anaesthesia, and the fact that it took a whole horde and a tank to kill him, it would fit the gameplay aspect if we consider the horde probably wounded him and the tank hit drowned him (the moment he smoked his last cigarrette) from there is assumed the tank finished him off (just like when a survivor is downed) But even if canonically they arent as durable, they still had to fight off an insane amount of infected normal and special, without being wounded by none of them, which would require a even more inhumane amount of agility and shooting skills from a normal civilian, and the fact that canonically the finale of each campain have these massive hordes theres no way a group of 4 would survive, they even survive atleast 1 helicopter crash, even the biggest group, the Town in swamp fever fell having a numbers and fire power advantage, and they where able to kill a charger (which seems to be their biggest feat), and the survivors have to go through that Town and fight the same infected that killed everybody plus the Town people that turned Lore wise or gameplay wise they do stuff that no human could pull off and they do it consistently
i like how smooth each campaign transition is on left 4 dead 2. in left 4 dead 1 you just go to random places without knowing what happened prior, like for crash course to death toll, what happened to your armored truck? after death toll you went from boat to greenhouse in the middle of the city, dead air to blood harvest going from flying in a cargo plane to the middle of a national park meanwhile in left 4 dead 2 it's pretty straightforward, you leave dead center in jimmy's car, during this time, you meet the left 4 dead 2 survivors along the way until you meet the traffic jam in dark carnival. then you get picked up by a helicopter but since you four are carriers, you infected the pilot along the way, crashing into the swamp. then you meet virgil and he takes you to new orleans, stopping along ducatel for more gas. then finally, new orleans
The way I see the end of the game is that, as a different, connected unit of the Military, and notably Navy/USMC and not Army National Guard like in the comic after Blood Harvest, that they're separating Carriers from normal people, where normal people are put on Cruise Ships and such, and Carriers onto Navy vessels, perhaps Hospital Ships and the sorts, for both safety, and for research purposes. And I suppose a potential be-all end-all backup of if there's no cure or anything, then the Carriers can carry on Humanity. For as far as I'd guess, a way to find Carriers was found out, so the Navy and Marine Corps organised themselves on ships, separated into Immune and Non Immune, to maintain a chain of command, and a way to keep track of everyone. Though I suppose it'd be somewhat limited to ships that had been out on deployment elsewhere in the world, as ones that'd been stationed or returned to the US would be quite at-risk. There's something about how the Military talks in The Parish as opposed to the Military in Blood Harvest that gives me hope that at least these other branches, who still have a chain of command, and are still operating as if there's a government, are taking a more careful, strategic, and optimistic approach to the situation. If you can have those who are Immune all in easy to access areas, then you can get samples of blood from all over the country, different encounters with other infected, find _some_ common element in their blood that separates them from the Non Immune, and work from there in a safe and isolated environment. I also just kinda wish that L4D2 got a few comics, unless I've missed something, just to fill in gaps. I feel the Intro Cutscene was set up in a deliberate attempt to be an Action Movie trailer, because in the end, both games are treated as Films, one Survival Horror, and the other Action Slasher.

The reason why Swamp Fever took place after the events of Dark Carnival is that prior to the events of Swamp Fever, after the survivors escaped from the carnival, the pilot turns into a zombie, similar to the one in No Mercy, and his chopper crashlanded at the start of Crash Course. Always remember that the L4D2 survivors are also in fact, carriers. Meaning that similar to L4D1, carriers can only infect people if they're standing next to them. When the pilot turned into a zombie, Nick shot him mid-flight, causing the chopper to lose control and crashed into a nearby rural area, thinking that they're near a swamp, hence why the survivors are resting inside the train car because behind the train is the chopper from Dark Carnival, crashed. One thing that should be noted is that Dark Carnival was supposed to have a different vehicle usage, they we're planning to use a monorail however they scrapped the idea of doing so and they took the chopper instead. I read the wiki that they cut out the monorail because it wasn't fun at all during the development cycle of the map.

Cool speculations about Virgil the boat driver, he’s most likely from the “Shanty Town” or Village En Marais. Purely speculation but due to his accent being that of a Cajun accent and him speaking french, aswell a couple graffiti spots around Swamp Fever mention a “Virgil” and they think he died. However we know he survived and made it out before the village fell. Secondly Virgil is likely a carrier as his constant close proximity to the survivors doesn’t get him infected. Which happens to every other npc in the game except the couple who coincidentally had a boat from lfd1. They could also have been carriers. But Virgil surviving not 1 but 3 campaigns with the new crew almost confirms it.

Lets do it again, shall we? TL;DW: Timeline A (Canon): L4D2 Intro (On Foot) -> Dead Center (Stock Car) -> The Passing (Stock Car (Abandoned)) -> Dark Carnival (Chopper (Crashed)) -> Swamp Fever (Virgil the Talking Boat) -> Hard Rain (Virgil the Talking Boat) -> The Parish (Chopper) -> Unknown Fate... Dark Carnival to Swamp Fever, just behind the train you can see the Chopper, no alt route there. Cold Stream has been stated as Non-Canon, but there's no harm in it being Canon, we just don't know how the survivors got the from The Praish. Due to the lack of cut campaigns, or DLC that branches the path, L4D2 has a single timeline. But, as I said before in the L4D1 videos comments, there is obviously room for fan campaigns in between these canon ones, the Stock Car and Virgil the Talking Boat provide very flexible options for how many stops between they made in between canon campaigns. As for The Parish to Cold Stream, if we wanted to Canonise it, we just need a New Campaign that shows them exit the crashed Military Chopper, work there way to an escape, but it gets blocked by a forest fire, so they escape in a row boat down stream, simple.
Just for suggestion, especially the intro, dont start with one character. Pretty much in the beginning of swamp fever, there are dialogues between the survivors as to why Nick shot the pilot, which explains why there was a smoke behind the trains.
you can see smoke at 9:32 so that might be the aircraft and maybe the survivors opened the door of the cart and closed that door and opened the other door to get out of the other side of the cart is it called a cart or am i useing US terms that happens a lot
I think this video is good but do you not listen to dialogue? At the start of swamp fever there are multiple voicelines of the survivors saying that they had to shoot the pilot because he was infected
I have one question how do the L4D2 Survivors get to the cold stream campaign after the parish campaign or is the cold stream campaign a spin off that did not happen ?
While it is a non canon fan made map, I believe the best way to play it is Dark Carnival Cold Stream (the fire starts from a crashed helicopter- survivors escape via helicopter) Swamp Fever (another crashed helicopter over the train blocked from view)
@@clintvargas9060 DLC is short for "Downloadable Content" - New content that is added to the game after it was first released. On console, you have to buy those DLCs, but on PC you get them for free as part of the base game.
6:45 the passing doesn’t make a lot of sense because it’s in the Florida keys. Dead center is in Atlanta. They’re trying to get to New Orleans. Why are they going to the southern tip of Florida? Massive detour. They just wanted to have their dumb fan fiction crossover
The Passing takes place in Georgia, a few hours away from Dark Carnival. It's a bit paradoxical in terms of real-life layouts, but we know that Dark Carnival takes place in Griffin. The body of water in The Passing/The Sacrifice is likely just part of a river that eventually connects to the ocean. Dead Center is also in Savannah. The hotel is literally named after the city.

Dark Carnival to Swamp Fever, just behind the train you can see the Chopper, no alt route there.
Cold Stream has been stated as Non-Canon, but there's no harm in it being Canon, we just don't know how the survivors got the from The Praish.
Due to the lack of cut campaigns, or DLC that branches the path, L4D2 has a single timeline.
But, as I said before in the L4D1 videos comments, there is obviously room for fan campaigns in between these canon ones, the Stock Car and Virgil the Talking Boat provide very flexible options for how many stops between they made in between canon campaigns.
As for The Parish to Cold Stream, if we wanted to Canonise it, we just need a New Campaign that shows them exit the crashed Military Chopper, work there way to an escape, but it gets blocked by a forest fire, so they escape in a row boat down stream, simple.
Just for suggestion, especially the intro, dont start with one character. Pretty much in the beginning of swamp fever, there are dialogues between the survivors as to why Nick shot the pilot, which explains why there was a smoke behind the trains.
7:25 a truck with a car carrier trailer would have also worked.

you can see smoke at 9:32 so that might be the aircraft and maybe the survivors opened the door of the cart and closed that door and opened the other door to get out of the other side of the cart is it called a cart or am i useing US terms that happens a lot

I think this video is good but do you not listen to dialogue? At the start of swamp fever there are multiple voicelines of the survivors saying that they had to shoot the pilot because he was infected

@@clintvargas9060 DLC is short for "Downloadable Content" - New content that is added to the game after it was first released. On console, you have to buy those DLCs, but on PC you get them for free as part of the base game.

6:45 the passing doesn’t make a lot of sense because it’s in the Florida keys. Dead center is in Atlanta. They’re trying to get to New Orleans. Why are they going to the southern tip of Florida? Massive detour. They just wanted to have their dumb fan fiction crossover
The Passing takes place in Georgia, a few hours away from Dark Carnival. It's a bit paradoxical in terms of real-life layouts, but we know that Dark Carnival takes place in Griffin. The body of water in The Passing/The Sacrifice is likely just part of a river that eventually connects to the ocean.
Dead Center is also in Savannah. The hotel is literally named after the city.
