"inverting controls" Ah yes, and here we have someone who likes his FPS characters to control like fighter jets.
People who play with inverted controls are inbred subhumans and they just keep multiplying.
@@physical_insanity I dont use inverted contols but I have a few friends that do, and they explained it in a way that makes sense.
When you look up your face goes up and the back of your head goes down. Muscles in the back of your neck are pulling down to make your head look up there is force there. So when you play Inverted its like you are acting the force to make them move the PC's head upward.
Like your mouse is attached to the back of the head.
@@Mrmoocows99 I was gonna post a semi-detailed comment partially agreeing with you and disagreeing with you, but since this limp dick mouse can't click shit right and decided to open inspect element, that's all gone now. So yeah, technology.
Just to be brief, I'm just gonna say it makes sense with a keyboard and mouse, but not with a thumbstick. The vast majority of the population is naturally geared towards regular controls because they don't think about every movement they make, but you can't disregard the minority either. I've had experience playing with both normal and inverted controls (on console) and I much prefer normal control. There's not much difference, but with the way I think - "I want to look down, therefore, I point my eyes down" - I find myself looking up at the skybox more often than I want to, which happens long after I consider myself acclimatised to inverted controls.
[Defunct Spunk] how bout people just play how they want. Who gives a fuck
[Defunct Spunk] bruh, it’s not that big of a deal. I bet you’re fun at parties.
“Replacements?”
“This far into the war, who isn’t?”
Well.. there’s Johnson
Thane Krios hahahahahhaha fuuuckkkkk trueeee
True but I think the majority is.
And Master Chief? Buck?
All Spartans II since they're pre-war.
That's most Spartans though, but Johnson definitely at this point had seen more action than Chief even.
"Relax rookie, he don't mean nothing. Besides, now's one of those times... pays to be the strong silent type." Favorite line from this game
Sauce Squad Dutch is the best
Yeah. Good time to know nobody so you won't feel as bad when they die.
I prefer Dutch’s line “lord I didn’t train to be a pilot. Do I have anymore flying to do today? *planecrash* so.... was that a yes or a no? *explosion* amen”
My favourite Dutch quote is "well like the good book says paybacks a bitch" it was spoken in game during kikowani Station
"Well it's a good thing I can do inside voices!"
"What the hell am I suppose to do with this INSIDE a Covenant ship?"
*Keeps it anyway*
Because he was clearly told to by his commander. That's how it works in the military.
Jackie Chan shit on halo 2 legendary if IM inside a covenant ship im takeing the gotdam sniper and rpg
Your profile photo makes that about a hundred times funnier.
He clearly never played Truth and Reconciliation on legendary
Jackie Chan buck knew they were going off course that’s why he gave him a sniper
Your job isn't to avoid going to hell. Your job is to make sure it's crowded when you get there.
Actually it is to avoid going there.. lol
Honestly it goes either way
Correction: Your job isn't diving feet first into hell. Your job is making sure it's crowded when you get there.
[Defunct Spunk] they make it crowded by diving feet first into it..
Get to hell? You’re in hell dude
"Humanity is at War with an alien alliance known as "The Covenant".
"We are losing."
Deep and sad...
After what happened to Harvest, Reach, and other colonies? Yeah... definitely deep and depressing.
@@kursk_kuku141 Fucking BILLIONS of people died...
It it weren’t for the great schism, humanity would have been eradicated
@@Giblet12 Even if the Great Schism didn't happen, it was only a minor military deployment which was swept under the rug by the High Prophets. The vast majority of the Covenant Empire didn't know that Humans existed until the Great Schism.
Don't worry, in the course of basically the next two weeks we turn the whole thing around, kick them off Earth and destroy the Covenant in one battle.
Feet first into hell gentlemen.
You know the music, time to dance.
TROPPERS WE ARE MEAN AND VERY VERY MEAN!!!
ARC-77 Fordo, *green and very very mean
WE ARE DROPPING INTO HELL, TROOPERS! TIME TO GROW A PAIR!
(Legendary game difficulty phrase)
Jumping feet first into hell isn't your job; Making sure it's crowded when you get there, is.
Don't know why but seeing the In Amber Clad actually flying toward the Carrier feels so great.
Because memoriesssss.. may be beautiful and yettttt.....
etc. etc.
Gives a different perspective of that fateful moment.
Consistency.
I didn't see it?
@@ObzTicle Look to the left of the space elevator and around the middle right of the supercarrier.
Just imagine the drop in VR. It would be crazy.
Yes that would be sick!
Klassic McSafeSpace imagine actually dropping. THAT would be crazy
Ezekyle Probably one Day!
(I know this is a different game) imagine vr in bioshock infinite and maybe the first 2
Klassic McSafeSpace just use the vr mod for halo
People didn't like odst at first. They didn't want to be frail little Marines. They wanted to be super soldiers that rain death everywhere. But after awhile, folks started to grow on odst. I bet if 343 announced a new odst themed game I'm sure there'd be some major hype.
Shadow Of Sundered Star Ye this was my biggest problem with ODST. You still feel like a super soldier. There wasn't really much stealth or strategy to utilize. You were just a Spartan with an ODST skin.
There's some folks replying that rookie is basically master chief with an odst skin. If you've ever played odst and halo 3, you'll most definitely notice the differences between the characters aside from appearance. When a brute melee's chief, he gets a knock back of say... 5ft at most. In odst, you get knocked back to 20+ ft. You are much smaller, with grunts almost rivaling your hight. You don't have shields, you only have a health system. You can't dual wield either. You jump half as high than when you could in halo 3. And of course you can kill an enemy (like hunters) just as easy as chief! Just because you're an odst doesn't mean the bullets and or guns (that are a copy and paste from halo 3) are magically nurfed!!!
*sigh* Sorry, just needed to address that elephant.
CleanserOfNoobs just wait until you see a space marine fighting a spartan, you will lose all your hope
and to top it off you STILL GET A SHIELD GENERATOR. Which makes no sense lol
Shaded Zaleph Are you talking about the engineer or what?
there were hundreds of troopers that were suppose to land on that ship. only 1 squad (this squad) survived
Well, that explains why I saw more than six Drop pods.
It could also be that they dropped all the pods, so that the ODST wouldn't be targeted easier.
The other ODSTs were going to the covenant ship, and were probably most likely wiped out by the slipspace rupture. Also, maybe they landed in water.
Gunner_Storm O'Sullivan And Alpha-Nine happens to be the only ODST squad to survive the drop at the time?
That is the only way to explain the absence of other drop pods that can be found in the game, apart from your squad members' ones of course.
*we are losing*
When it’s implied losing means extinction for humanity, this is a really sombre reminder
Humanity lost the war, but not the fight. We’re too resilient.
Michael Smith both sides were too resilient
@@gabenewell3955 tbh humanity got off easy compared to what happened with Covenant. P sure the Prophets went extinct, Elites lost several worlds and heavy military casualties, Brutes got hunted down, and shit, think ab how many grunts got killed.
At least humanity was back on its feet after a few years, recolonizing
@@Mikey-ym6ok Covenant imploded on itself nearing the end of the war, we got lucky
@@AndrewJ9673 The prophets absolutely did not go extinct, humanity lost sundry of planets while the elites lost none and over HALF the human population died.
Humanity. did. not. get. off. easy.
I just realized you can see all the other ODST squads dissapearing into the carrier's position a moment after Veronica changes trajectory, they landed an got send into slipspace with tons of Covenant.... Imagine a ODST mission like that...
Mann, we really need an ODST 2 or something similar!
we could be one of the squads that ended up there and ended up on delta halo or gets captured or something potential is everywhere for odsts.
Hate to say this but I'm pretty sure that they didn't survive. Those pods don't have shields and are made just to survive one drop. The slip space rupture probably disintegrated all of them
not disintegrated. they probably died from radiation. the ones that ended up at ground zero or went with the carrier at least. judging by the look of the pods and the presence of shock resistant glass, these pods were for low orbit insertions where as the one from halo 2 was meant for space to atmosphere insertions as i am guessing by the presence of more and thicker armor.
Alpha-9 was the only squad that survived this drop. They rest died when the carrier jumped and the ensuing emp, which fried life support systems in the pods and helmets, so even if they survived the drop they died during the jump (literally lost in slip space) or died in space when the ship exited slip space.
“The navy put up a good fight”- Mickey
“Course they did! It’s Earth!”- Dutch
Imagine humanity spread out through the stars so much that most people don’t consider Earth their homeworld?
I always interpreted this more as Bungie reminding the player that unlike Harvest, Reach, the rings-this is our home planet, something every single player can and should relate to. Its an upfront reminder from Dutch directed at the player rather than Mickey about the stakes of the battle.
In the halo universe there is some serious bias in the "inner colonies". Earth and the closer planets are more affluent and considered more important by most institutions
@@arkhammemery4712 somethibg that was steadily being shaken off as of the Insurrection. If it weren't for the Covenant then Humanity would've fractured wether with Spartans or not.
@@TheNapster153 Probably not. The insurrection continued even during the Human-Covenant War. Fall of Reach goes into this
That comment definitely made this game personal for all players. With billions of humans dead and many colonies destroyed. Our home world of earth, seemed a lot more special.
Always loved the ODST's and Marines. Trying to keep them alive in every game.
Same. Until they blow themselves up because game AI. Lol
marines have such low base health, they almost always die in 10 seconds in odst.
"You gonna tell us her name Gunny?"
"MS. Naval Intelligence..."
As a kid, I never thought about the gravity of those words. As an adult, I now know that having an operative from ONI with you on a Spec Ops mission spelt utter disaster for them
To be fair she is the only reason they survived the drop
Shit gets shady when ONI is involved
Reading the blood books trilogy especially new blood you double realize that buck and dare REALLY weren’t on good terms exactly here either.
@@dustindubbo2892 I only knew about New Blood and Bad Blood what's the third one called?
@@urm8matt156 There’s only 2 but there is gonna be a third sometime soon.
First off: wow, inverted controls gamers... they do exist! o.o
Second: I loved ODST. Never quite got why so many people hated it. I loved being more vulnerable to covenant attacks and seeing the war from a soldier's perspective instead of a Spartan's.
hahah yeah, inverted for life!
I think over time more people grew to love ODST. Those Hunters, man! Never have I felt so threatened by Hunters than in ODST, especially the gold ones. I think it was a fun game with some cool ideas, and I'd love to see something similar in the future. Exploring the hub world was interesting and provided a different approach to Halo story-telling.
iXi Club
It wasn't so much the exploration that got me to fall in love with the game, but the feeling of being a lone soldier in an abandoned city. Roaming around in the dark with roaming Covenant forces, fighting to survive and cut off from the others, then eventually reuniting with your squad mates to fight your way out of the city. I felt like I could really put myself in the shoes of the Recruit, feeling cut off and looking for my squad, the relief from finally finding someone else who's alive, then the brotherhood from working together to get out as more and more Covenant forces arrive to put you down.
Yup, the tone and atmosphere of ODST was intriguing. I'd like something similar with Master Chief's story for Halo 6 where you're alone again, back to being a lone wolf as you scour the environment to progress in the story. In this regard, ODST felt more succinct than something like Halo 5, for example.
I think it could be cool to have an ODST2 that brings the gameplay back to basics with a more grounded approach to combat; it could supplement the gameplay direction Halo 5 headed.
iXi Club
I'm honestly not too happy with the direction the new Halo games have taken. Halo 4 had an interesting story and awesome soundtrack, but I didn't like the new enemies. To me, the fight will always be with the Covenant... and while there is a splinter group they're fighting still, the addition of the new enemy just feels... not halo, if that makes sense.
I'm quite content with ending my journey with the Halo series at Reach, because aside from the occasional insurgents, it was the last time the Covenant were my only enemy... and that was the way it needed to be for me.
ODST was my first halo and definitely my favourite, I just preferred the story and game mechanics to other halos
4:34
I love the attention to detail in these scenes.
The fact that you can compare Halo 2 and Halo 3: ODST side-by-side in the opening scenes is amazing.
You can even see the In Amber Clad if you look hard enough.
Well spotted!
Buck and Romeo became Spartans, Dutch retired. Mickey was a traitor and Rookie died. What happened to Dare?
Sorry if this is a spoiler to anyone not caught up :(
Well she is an ONI spook so who knows, maybe Buck knows
Julien Nizan vale in halo 5
Dare is most likely still alive and still part of oni
How did Rookie die?
And why Mickey is a traitor?
ODST was hands down the most immersive of the trilogy.
The "we are losing." in the intro crawl always gets me. The OG Bungie games did such a great job of portraying humanity on its last legs :')
It's so unfortunate for Rookie to die. He was a great character and would've been a good replacement for Master Chief if the time would ever come.
Never spoke a word yet has more character than anyone in halo 5
@@Mikey-ym6ok That's what happens when you hire amateur writers.
They could retcon it
If he was augmented he would've become the best Spartan IV out there hands down
Still think Jerome is best fit to replace chief
before Helldivers, there was the ODST
Am i the only one that loved odst? I miss playing this and reach
I didn’t get an Xbox till around 2010. The original halo trilogy was before my time, so my first memories of console gaming were ODST and reach. It was a great time to be alive
I adore this game. Loved every second of it.
Reach was the best
halo 3 was the best. Multiplayer and single player it was a masterpiece
Chicken Soup I have so many good memories on reach to me that was the best halo
"Troopers! We are green! And very, VERY mean!" gives me goosebumps to this day
5:00 Ow!
i just noticed that XD
just the distant sound of buck stubbing his toe inside the droppod
What did he mean by this?
Has to be the best intro in the series
Such an underrated title, actually one of the best Halo games. A lonely, adventure as the Rookie & O'Donnel's score was the right type of moody, sad and forlorn emotionally. I've played this one more than the others. I wished it was more popular and that it got the Blur graphic upgrade that Halo-2 got.
I like how you can just see the In Amber Clad to the right of the cruiser before it jumps.
Played the game a lot and I never seen that Easter egg until watching this video
*carrier
As of 2554, The Rookie is dead, Dutch has retired, and Mickey is a traitor
Source?
Nvm, found it, reading up on it now :(
I really really wished they didn't just kill off the Rookie like that. Fuck Insurrectionists. It would've been cool to play him as a Spartan-IV.
Cog Gear I swear you guys do this just to spoil people. I swear you do.
Arif Lukman would've been far better then fucking team Osiris, the team of nobodies except the guy from a movie and half of the buck we know and love (seriously it's like 343 kinda knew who buck was but never fully played ODST his character is off in 5)
I love this so much.
*screen blacks out*
*music stops*
*silence for a few seconds*
"Ouch"
I like how rookie was just chilling napping in his pod and as soon as romeo woke him up he immediately gets ready for a drop. That aside what’s really dope is when your put in control of a character like buck or rookie it’s tells you their name where they dropped and the time after the drop.
Rookie was really the biggest badass of all of them. He wasn’t even relaxing in the crew quarters. He was sleeping in his pod, with all his gear on, just waiting for the order to drop.
If u read the books halo bad blood it explains that the rookie jus showed up like 30 minutes before the jump like yea hes in your squad now but rookie wasnt like a new recruit hed seen action before he jus didn’t talk
“Troopers, we are green, and very, very mean!” I love that so much.
4:35 you can see the ship of master chief.
Yup, I loved that! ODST was a fun little nugget, hopefully we see something similar again.
kencholight wow truly a spec of a ship
kencholight, where I can't see it 😟
nvm, found it
duck9000, at 4:36. If you look right next the right of the carrier, there is a small frigate ship, that's Amber clad
I guess Rookie is supposed to be you under the helmet ? Kinda like halo reach.
Rocket - Exactly, you make up their personalities.
Rocket same with Master Chief, Halo has never shown the protagonists face to make it easier to believe its you as the super soldier
The Mad Hammer well not exactly, John always had his own personality and history
That’s right noble 6 is alive and incognito.
@@enhanceddeath nope he dead. He was on a planet with no way off that got turned to glass
I never realized until today that the thousand ton space elevator flexes and bends when the slipspace rupture happens. Which just goes to show the pure terror of a slipspace rupture in atmosphere.
EDIT: Remember the days of Linkin Park montages to Halo? ruclips.net/video/PW_u7J1uixM/видео.html
Imagine this intro for a Halo Battle Royale.
Nah more like an intro for some type of ground operations game mode like invasion
Project Biohazard oh yeeeeeeaaaaaaaaa
Master Wort you shut your mouth! Dont even dare mention that shit game here ever!
iXi Club and you will be able to steer the drop pod like in fortnite
Man that'd be awesome! The whole drop sequence in ODST was memorable, but now imagine it for a Battle Royale mode?! Sick.
4:36
Non of the pods went into the slip space rupture, and from the looks of the squads positioning they would’ve been the first to drop. Now although ODSTs are more lethal than an ordinary marine they are still susceptible to death it’s not as if they’re invincible, in the trailer recon we see the other pods also land meaning alpha nine was not the only squad to survive.
And given the pods were all scattered over a (metropolis) like New Mombasa the shear scale of the city is so vast it’s possible we just didn’t run into the other squads given they were most likely given other tasks as well.
Also when we see buck land when it comes to his mission we see other pods as well.
Also brute packs were now taking over the city, the Great schism has just begun and the brutes are in charge now. Given their savage nature and brutish instincts, it’s possible when night came packs formed and began combing the disarrayed streets for meals. That also could be another reason why we don’t see other ODSTs or their corpses when roaming around.
And judging from the trajectory it looks like the blast diverted the ODSTs to the left where the metropolitan area dwelled below and not the right where the ocean was.
A few went through though
You can see the In amber clad going through the portal of you look very closely
The thing i like about this game was its dark atmosphere in the city were its quiet and the rain makes an amazing feature for the atmosphere
“Troopers we are green and very very mean”
I think I can safely say the opening text crawl for this game is probably my favorite bit in Halo.
The matter-of-fact text that blatantly says “We are losing,” is very cold and militaristic, almost casual. But you can feel the desperation in the words among the rain and the soundtrack, it feels like a soldier on the brink of breaking down. There’s so many layers just to the text crawl and that specific part makes me tear up a lot
Exactly. This is after 27 years of constant war. We've gone from thousands of colony worlds scattered across the galaxy to fighting for Earth itself. This is the most desperate hour of humanity, the Covenant just landed on Earth and this is our last, best, desperate attempt at fighting them off.
my all time favorite cutscene in the game
Dexter Grif cutscene is one word, it looks like you're saying it was scrapped
While the drop scene was awesome, nothing beats the Return to Sender cutscene of Halo 2 where Master Chief jumps out from the ODP station with the Covenant bomb and watching the UNSC Feeling Lucky (Marathon-Class Cruiser) being destroyed and then Chief destroying the Day of Jubilation (CAS-Class Assault Carrier). The Halo 2 Anniversary version of the cutscene makes it more awesome.
“What the hell am I supposed to do with this”
Idk but you’ll be glad you had it
Kids will never know how fun this game was
I remember being a kid with my brand new Xbox 360 Elite and seeing this game come with the package. ODST and Halo 3 Mythic consumed so much of my day lol
am I the only one who saw In Amber Clad jump with the Carrier?
No, you are not.
What exact time and where can you see it? I'm having a hard time trying to find it :/
Sir_Tactical_Slime It's tiny compared to the carrier. It flies in from the right at 4:31, passes in front of the space elevator, slides up to the right side of the carrier and jumps with it at 4:36.
Thank you very much :P
ernest guerrero saw it, it was very hard to find it at first since it's small
Anyone else get goosebumps when Buck said 'Troopers we are green and very, very mean'
I'm now remembering that I should be playing the Master Chief Collection.
Each game still holds up imo. Did you get ODST for free btw? Feels good playing that in 1080/60.
343 BETTER GIVE US AN ODST GAME IF WE DON’T GET HELLDIVERS 2!!!
Still really sucks knowing that Alpha-Nine was the only squad that survives out of all the ODSTs.
that's halo for ya:/
That moment when you jump out of the drop pod, then feel frail, alone, and scared in a Halo game for the first time.
It’s cool to think that master chief was literally fighting a scarab while they were talking
Just noticed the little detail that the slipspace rupture ate a hole in the ground where it opened. You see the buildings flying through space in the Delta Halo cutscene but never see the slipspace rupture damage in Halo 2.
Yup, supposedly it revealed part of the Ark Portal mechanism which prompted the Covenant to continue digging there to excavate the rest, resulting in that *massive* pit we see in Halo 3.
Helldivers, this is your democracy officer. Time to spread democracy
3:50- The swelling music as you drop from orbit... It's just... perfection! So beautiful! I get goosebumps every time!
If nothing else, the soundtrack is incredible! Definitely an underrated gem of a game!
Marty said himself he loved the soundtrack to ODST the most
That intro😭 brings me back to the good times
5:00 turn up the volume and you can hear an "OW!"
What did he mean by this?
I absolutely adore the use of the “Match begins in 3 2 1” beeps for the pod launching sequence
I love how you can see the In Amber Clad rushing towards the slipspace rupture just before the jump. It's soo tiny that they could have just left it out, but they put it in. I never noticed it before because ODST was the first halo game I ever played, but since recently playing Halo 2 on MCC it's soo cool to come back to this cutscene and see the ship.
One of the coolest scenes in gaming history to me.
Can't believe Rookie is dead.
RIP
yep, a bullet to the back of the bed
Nice name! FUNKNOWN here :]
Darknal 627 Buck took it pretty hard when the Rookie died. He almost resorted to drinking away his sorrow, feeling like he failed.
The Unknown you mean head
Still my favorite intro to any of the halo games. With that being said in amber clad was so tiny compared to that ship. Its a wonder how the humans even won that war.
We kinda didnt, the covenant literally broke itself in half, and the smart fighty half helped us while the other was too busy being megalomaniac to notice the break.
Plot armor
"Helljumper, Helljumper where you been? Feet first into hell and back again, when i die please bury me deep, place an MA5 down by my feet, don't cry for me don't shed no tear, just pack my box with the P.T gear, because one early morning around Zero' five, there'll be a rumble in the ground there'll be lightening in the sky, don't you worry don't come un-done, its just my ghost on a P.T run!"
still to this day. This intro cut scene gives me the goosebumps
Covenant cruiser jumps:
Rookie: OW 5:00
LMAOOOOO
This shit is lowkey exactly how infantry dudes chat with and exist with each other in real life it’s so crazy😂
I was in 10th grade when this came out, there was so much hype for it at school the day it came out it was crazy.
This game is so gorgeous. I love ODST.
So many years later this game and unforgettably the soundtrack just still hits me so emotionally. It's really a work of art.
This is a timeless gem, it’s truly a work of art
ODST will always be my favourite halo.
My friends and I waited months for it to play together.
When it finally released, I was at work and they were at school.
They got off about 6 hours earlier then me due to scheduling.
When I came home, they joked they already beat the game.
"What the hell guys! It's only been a few hours and you beat it!?"
"Were just kidding, we waited for you"
That 4 man drop never felt better and still brings tears to my eyes thinking of us meeting up in the city for the first time.
I was Romeo
Beautiful game and very sad when you find out what happens to rookie :,(
I think it's really cool how their plan was to literally land on the ship and fight to death.
can you imagine making a paintball arena shaped like the fallen city from ODST and the way to go into the arena you're set into simulated pods and they move like those simulator games where you drop all the way down and feel the whole process and you leave your pod to play in the arena. i think it be lit
Yea but it would be super fucking expensive to make and it would probably cost a lot of money to play on that field
Just pray in 1000 years buddy
Damn, I always forget how much I liked ODST. Felt so similar to the other games but so different at the same time.
"They're pulling back? Why?"
We damn well know why.
Master Chief in the Amber Clad between the carrier and the tower. Chief kicked their butts even before they were ready XD,
Though it’s a nice touch saying that ODST is in the same time as Halo 2
Something about playing the ODST’s was so cool
3:02 Is that a crack about that CE(the first game)'s third mission? XD
Played this game so many years ago and even now it still gives me chills
Damn, the nostalgia I'm getting from this..
I can't help but play this over and over again, is was just so much more atmospheric then the other Halo games in the series. I've been a fan for about 13 years, and I play this one more the others.
One of the most epic, immersive intros in video games.
Ohhh!!! I love this intro cutscene so fucking much!!! It gets me so excited, and I love the music too! This first cutscene is such a masterpiece. It's the best halo intro cutscene out of the entire franchise. I love it.
First off, who plays inverted??? (Trying to be as not "judgy" as possible here) also finally 343 did something right
Inverted used to be default for a lot of games back in the day, and it's also scientifically most accurate to how our eyeballs and the muscles that move them function. Science, my friend. Science.
I meant the remastering was good.
Hoopa TM Me I've been playing inverted since Halo CE. It's a must for me I can't play the standard way it just doesn't feel right to me.
iXi Club not for me lol
Uh... I play inverted, and it feels natural for me. If i spent like 5 months playing with normal controls, then I'd probably get used to those, but Ive been playing inverted since i was 5.
through sheer coincidence i played halo in "chronological" order, played wars as a kid and then reach shortly after. That really set a tone in my eyes for what halo would be like, and while I absolutely loved being an unstoppable one man army in the main games odst's atmosphere of despair and fear really hit back on what i guess would be my form of halo nostalgia
"Get set! for a combat drop" .....chills.
Always got that eerie, scared of the unknown feeling from ODST, same one i get from Brothers In Arms and Medal Of Honor Airborne. Dropping directly on the heads of you enemy/behind their lines, is terrifying... to say the least when you know not everyone is going to make it to the ground alive.
One thing that makes me cringe is how the ODST has blue lens but their HUD is orange while Master Chief's lens is orange but his HUD is blue.
The saddest opening cutscene with the rain and telling the story
I enjoyed odst but my biggest beef was that suppressors were just for show. I snuck up on sleeping grunts and popped one then they all woke up and started shooting.
Morgan Myer probably the most realistic suppressors in gaming then lol. But no seriously I agree, they could’ve at least made them a little functional
@@lebendigesgespenst7669 Id say it was ok most enemy's couldn't hear you from too far away actually so I did not have a problem. Stealth in general could have a small change maybe. Maybe.....
If you use an unsuppresed gun, enemies from other nearby areas will hear you and come running (EG Rocket launcher, AR.) But the SMG and Magnum only alert enemies pretty close to you. You can tell using the VISR minimap.
This is quite possibly my favourite Halo game. Such good fun. Such a nice atmosphere.
Even though I have fun playing as a Spartan but in my point of view that the Marines and the odst did more jobs better than the Spartans themselves thats why I keep them alive because I need their support.
What?
@@solarwolf1336 I use them for support to fight the aliens and the flood
Ok, I know this may sound dumb, but you have to know that I played ODST when I was like 8, and Halo 3 when I was 10, but I never realized that you can see the In Amber Clad flying into the rupture until now
5:00 "Ow!"
Appropriate reaction.
Man I love the look of the ODST SMG. The silencer and flashlight make it look like a much more threatening gun!
The In Amber Clad is in this cutscene Near the Carrier at 4:28
Seeing In Amber Clad jump with the carrier puts so much of the story into perspective and it's why I love Halo so much. These ODSTs would be some of the last people (minus the crew and Chief) to see the ship before it was ultimately taken over by the Flood and used to infect High Charity. Which in of itself would be the central point to Awakening The Nightmare from Halo Wars 2. So good 👌
I freaking love this game in the halo series
Loved this game. Had the first and best firefight too
The good old days 😭
