It’s called a reboot for a reason! The song is not going to sound the same. So for all of you hating on the song clearly don’t see the talent behind it. I for once love this song. The original and the reboot. The original is fun and upbeat which makes it a hit an ORIGINAL! but the reboot is slower but it takes you back with the soft harmonies and clearly that was the intent! Great song, great artist feature. This song is amazing.

It's actually the way it was written. I saw Kix live and he played it acoustically in that style. It made the hair on my neck stand up it was so good. I'd never heard Kix sing Red Dirt Road before that. Apparently Ronnie wrote the hook and passed it to Kix who wrote the verses. Still one of the finest pieces of songwriting around.

OH, THE MEMORIES THIS VERSION BRINGS UP... the tempo, the emotions in their voices, the old familiar lyrics... Ugh my heart! I grew up off of a dirt road in a small Texas town. I had an amazing, blessed childhood. We didn't have money but we had love and a roof over our heads. Both of my parents died before I graduated High School and within days my dog and two cats died 💔 I graduated from my small town, ran away to the beach, and now, 7 years later, I dream about the wonderful life I had every day and night. This song takes me back the good times I had growing up 💜

This really just hit me hard. I grew up listening to Brooks and Dunn and this takes me back to riding around with my dad in his old truck as a kid. Man we might have been poor as dirt then but I would go back in heartbeat. This new take really just gives it such a sentimental character. Still not the original but man it sure does make me miss the old days. Love it!!!!

I remember back in middle school when this album was coming out. It seems like long ago, but it was only about 3 years. In that school, I played and sung 3 times for people. The first time, I played Only in America for my class. The next two times was for my class again and then for a talent show fundraiser. Both of those times, I played this version of Red Dirt Road. It was stuck in my head, so I memorized the acoustic riff, the electric guitar solo and the chords. So for both of those "gigs", I played it all. The only downside was that my nervousness got me every time, but it happens to the best of us. It wasn't the best thing you've ever heard, but it's something to remember. Thanks for the memories and a beautiful song, B&D and Cody.
    God bless

I was raised off of Rural Route 3
Out past where the blacktop ends
We'd walk to church on Sunday morning
Race barefoot back to Johnson's fence
That's where I first saw Mary
    On that roadside picking blackberries
That summer I turned a corner in my soul
    Down that red dirt road
It's where I drank my first beer
    It's where I found Jesus
Where I wrecked my first car,
I tore it all to pieces
I learned the path to heaven
Is full of sinners and believers
    Learned that happiness on earth
    Ain't just for high achievers
    I've learned,
    I've come to know
    There's life at both ends
    Of that red dirt road
Her daddy didn't like me much
    In my shackled up GTO
I'd sneak out in the middle of the night
Throw rocks at her bedroom window
    We'd turn out the headlights
    Drive by the moonlight
Talk about what the future might hold
    Down that red dirt road
It's where I drank my first beer
    It's where I found Jesus
Where I wrecked my first car,
I tore it all to pieces
I learned the path to heaven
Is full of sinners and believers
    Learned that happiness on earth
    Ain't just for high achievers
    I've learned,
    I've come to know
    There's life at both ends
    Of that red dirt road
I went out into the world
    And I came back in
    I lost Mary,
Oh I got her back again
    And driving home tonight,
Feels like I've found a long lost friend
It's where I drank my first beer
    It's where I found Jesus
Where I wrecked my first car,
I tore it all to pieces
I learned the path to heaven
Is full of sinners and believers
    Learned that happiness on earth
    Ain't just for high achievers
    I've learned,

Cody use to ride bulls with my bestfriends brother. That boy started off on a tailgate in rodeo parking lots. He been making an selling his own albums since like 2006. Even became the first unsigned independent artist to sell out NRG stadium at Rodeo Houston. He only got invited there because Old Dominion had a family emergency an he was a quick fill in. Ended up selling more tickets than OD orginally sold. He has been asked to come back 3 times now an has sold it out every single time. But yes i Agree, Cody and Luke Combs are the best out there on todays radio in my opinion.

Bostonian here. Was never a fan of old school country growing up; was never played where I lived. Until I met my Georgia Peach, that all started to change. I listened to both versions: while the original is more upbeat and lively, this one has similar vibes to soft Spanish rock and acoustic rhythms I heard growing up.
Brought a tear to my eye on the third repeat; each repeat increasing the volume. Feels good to have a reminder of God, both in English and Spanish. Love you Lyn.

The old 35 is a native American trail that was turned into a highway at the time. Before highway 59.

I was raised off of rural route three
Out past where the blacktop ends
We'd walk to church on Sunday morning
And race barefoot back to Johnson's fence
That's where I first saw Mary
    On that roadside pickin' blackberries
That summer I turned the corner in my soul
    Down that red dirt road
It's where I drank my first beer
    It's where I found Jesus
Where I wrecked my first car
I tore it all to pieces
I learned the path to Heaven
Is full of sinners and believers
    Learned that happiness on Earth
Ain't just for high achievers (I heard)
I've come to know there's life at both ends
    Of that red dirt road
Her daddy didn't like me much
    In my shackled up GTO
I'd sneak out in the middle of the night
Throw rocks at her bedroom window
    We'd turn out the headlights
    And drive by the moonlight
Talk about what the future might hold
    Down that red dirt road
It's where I drank my first beer
    It's where I found Jesus
Where I wrecked my first car
I tore it all to pieces
I learned the path to Heaven
Is full of sinners and believers
    Learned that happiness on Earth
Ain't just for high achievers (I heard)
I've come to know there's life at both ends
    Of that red dirt road
I went out into the world
    And I came back in
    I lost Mary
Oh, I got her back again
    And driving home tonight
Feels like I found a long lost friend
It's where I drank my first beer
    It's where I found Jesus
Where I wrecked my first car
I tore it all to pieces
I learned the path to Heaven
Is full of sinners and believers
    Learned that happiness on Earth
Ain't just for high achievers (I heard)
I've come to know there's life at both ends
    Of that red dirt road
I've come to know there's life at both ends
    Of that red dirt road

BROOKS & DUNN, CODY JOHNSON (2019) - RED DIRT ROAD (Traducción)
I was raised off Rural Route 3
Me críe cerca de la Rural Route 3
Out past where the blacktop ends
Más allá de donde se acaba el asfalto
We walked to church on Sunday morning
Caminábamos hasta la iglesia el domingo por la mañana
Raced barefoot back to the Johnson's fence
Corría descalzo de vuelta a la valla de los Johnson
That's where I first saw Mary
Que era donde vi por primera vez a Mary
    On that roadside pickin' blackberries
    En aquella cuneta cogiendo moras
That summer I turned a corner in my soul
Aquel verano hubo un cambio para mejor en mi alma
    Down that red dirt road
Por aquel camino de tierra roja
Her daddy didn't like me much
A su padre yo no le gustaba mucho
    With my shackled up GTO
    Con mi tuneado Pontiac GTO
I'd sneak out in the middle of the night
Solía escabullirme en mitad de la noche
Throw rocks at her bedroom window
Lanzar piedras a la ventana de su dormitorio
    We'd turn out the headlights
    Solíamos apagar los focos delanteros
    Drive by the moonlight
Conducir a la luz de la luna
Talk about what the future might hold
Charlar sobre lo que depararía el futuro
    Down a red dirt road
Por el camino de tierra roja
It's where I drank my first beer
Es donde me bebí mi primera cerveza
    It's where I found Jesus
    Es donde hallé a Jesús
Where I wrecked my first car
    Donde destrocé mi primer coche
I tore it all to pieces
    Lo hice añicos
I learned the path to Heaven is full of sinners and believers
Aprendí que el camino hacia el Cielo está lleno de pecadores y creyentes
Learned that happiness on earth ain't just for high achievers
Aprendí que la felicidad en la tierra no es sólo para lo triunfadores
    I've learned
    He aprendido
    I've come to know
    He llegado a saber que
    There's life at both ends
    Hay vida en ambos extremos
    Of that red dirt road
De aquel camino de tierra roja
I went out into the world and I came back in
    Salí al mundo y regresé
I lost Mary, oh I got her back again
Perdí a Mary, oh la recuperé de nuevo
And driving home tonight feels like I've found a long lost friend
Y conduciendo a casa esta noche parece que he encontrado a un amigo perdido hace tiempo
It's where I drank my first beer
Es donde me bebí mi primera cerveza
    It's where I found Jesus
    Es donde hallé a Jesús
Where I wrecked my first car
    Donde destrocé mi primer coche
I tore it all to pieces
    Lo hice añicos
I learned the path to Heaven is full of sinners and believers
Aprendí que el camino hacia el Cielo está lleno de pecadores y creyentes
Learned that happiness on earth ain't just for high achievers
Aprendí que la felicidad en la tierra no es sólo para lo triunfadores
    I've learned
    He aprendido
    I've come to know
    He llegado a saber que
    There's life at both ends
    Hay vida en ambos extremos
    Of that red dirt road
De aquel camino de tierra roja
