    I'm not joking when I say this I've watched 10s of hours of RUclips videos about scales, finger placement, music theory etc and I can confidently say I've learned more from this 14 minute video than the hours of other videos I've watched. If the creator of this video sees this THANK YOU SO MUCH!

      omg i really want to play a violin and i am considering buying my own violin. (kind of wanna hide it from my dad cuz he doesnt like it so much and i am kinda ashamed to ask for a violin because of that) and i made my own goal to first read music notes on sheets and learn them, and if reading goes good i am going to study (lot of searching on google) were all notes are located on the violin and that kind of stuff with also collecting simple songs to practise, while i am going to buy one violin. (sad part is i probably have to buy it on the internet and that way my dad would definatly notice)

    • @ugurcanseref5843
      @ugurcanseref5843 7 лет назад +3

      Violin takes a lot of practice to get better so if you are not gonna practice it daily there is no point of buying it tbh. Either convince your dad or don't even consider buying it I'd say. In your first weeks you'll be working mostly on your muscle memory which is just bowing on open strings or barely useage of your left hand. So sure, watching these videos and learning at least where natural notes are played is good but it's a long journey to keep as a secret.

    I've played piano since I was a child and now that I'm teaching myself violin as an adult I couldn't for the life of me figure out where the "natural" notes on the strings were and how exactly they relate to each other because they weren't where I expected at all lol. This expanded my understanding so much, that I literally was able to sight read and play basic violin sheet music within about 10 minutes after studying just the first half of this video!!! Thank you so much, sir!

    This is by far the best explanation of each note and its position(s) on the violin fingerboard. A handy "trick" when trying to remember which notes have sharps and flats is simply only A and E have strictly natural notes - no flat and no sharp.

    • @measurebymeasure3605
      @measurebymeasure3605  7 лет назад +1

      The A can be sharp or flat. There is no E# (same as F) or no B# (same as C).
      The idea of this video is for you to learn all the natural notes and not worry about memorizing the sharps and flats. Once you learn the natural positioning and you see either a sharp or a flat on a music sheet you will definitely know what to do :)

    Not all heroes wear capes.... well unless the creator of this video does wear a cape. I mean capes are cool, and I don't know what eccentric fashion choices the creator of this video may or may not make. What I mean is that this video is the most helpful video on violin playing I've seen, and I have spent hours looking. Every other video gives you bits and drips of information, leaving you more confused than you were when you started. This video lays it all out there. Bless you my violin playing video making hero.

    When you do A on the D string or the same thing but elsewhere (a note on a different string but you have a string for that note already) how do you know when to use the open A or the D?

    • @measurebymeasure3605
      @measurebymeasure3605  5 лет назад +2

      whatever makes it easier to play that note, is the string you should use.
      In the beginning try to use open strings and when you get more comfortable use your 4th finger for practice.
