Violin takes a lot of practice to get better so if you are not gonna practice it daily there is no point of buying it tbh. Either convince your dad or don't even consider buying it I'd say. In your first weeks you'll be working mostly on your muscle memory which is just bowing on open strings or barely useage of your left hand. So sure, watching these videos and learning at least where natural notes are played is good but it's a long journey to keep as a secret.

In school we learned with tape under the strings so I was under the impression that there was always a space between the first and second finger. And that it was the 2nd and 3rd fingers that didn't have a space.
