Hi Meg! My 6 year old has been selected to a prestigious young talent school and seeing as my husband and I are not musically trained, I’ve been watching you to help her practice every day. Thank you so much!
We so appreciate you during remote learning! Our daughter has just begun on violin, but not with a teacher in person. It is so odd as musicians to not learn and play with other musicians, even more so at the initial learning. I play woodwinds, so I can only help her with music in general. Your videos have been so well organized into successive segments that we can get exactly the help we need! Plus they are so pleasant! I mean, just today, she again played the first 3 pages of her book using only individual strings, then said she was done. I was thinking, well I want you to learn some simple songs but I can’t help you play anything more without more fingering knowledge, what do I do? Aha! Music with Meg to the rescue. Thanks Meg!
Thankyou so much .its been a year since I have my violin..I came across you..I'm so happy....really..so much good explanation..very good detailed..I just love it..thanks again
You are doing a great job ! I am currently living in Canada, before that I used to live in Abu dhabi. I also used to take violin lessons. My cousin also have got her toddlers enrolled in The Young musician music institute. There, they are learning new things everyday. This excites me a a lot.
Thank you so much this video was very useful, my son liked it very much. He will keep practicing his Violin with you, you are a brilliant teacher :)))))
THANK YOUU SO MUCHHHH, I am now successfully played my FIRST FINGER YEHEYYY THANK U, Please continue teaching us because you really help us a lot specially me Thank Youuu.
I figured it would be a great place to begin - even as a grandma. I feel so invigorated having successfully done four lessons correctly. I am so pleased with your clear, step by step instructions. Please advise how to know what size violin to buy. I think my 4/4 size may be a tad to large for my petite size arms. Thank you! Also, is it best to buy new or used? Matte finish or glossy? Etc. etc.
Thank you for the wonderful lessons. I have an instructor who is very good but the exercises you do are absolutely TERRIFIC. I've just started learning the violin (I'm 73, and consider myself a slow learner.) I consider your instructional videos are supplements to in-person learning. What you do is much appreciated.
I need help how do you use your finders on the strings at the top and how do you do F sharp when i tried it , it didn’t sound right it sound horrible i really need help!!
Hi there! There are a few reasons why the violin can make a strange sound, so it could be one of these things: 1 - Check your open strings: do some long bows, are they making a good, clear sound? If not, the problem could be with your bowing. Use a mirror to check that your bow is straight, and is not over the fingerboard or the bridge. Make sure you have rosin on your bow, and make sure that you are putting the correct amount of pressure on the bow. 2 - If the open strings are fine, then the problem may be with your fingering. Do remember that it can take a while to get used to fingering, and to begin with it can sound a little iffy! Some things that may help you include: Adding finger tape to your violin, and ensuring you are placing the finger directly on top of the tape; Make sure you are using the tip of your finger, and using a good amount of pressure; Stop the bow before placing your finger down. 3 - If the G, D, A open strings are fine but the E-String itself is sounding odd, then the problem could be with the string. This is a little harder to solve without seeing the violin. You could try re-stringing the E, or taking it to an expert to investigate.
Hello Meg, I want to ask whether we have to hold the bow while playing tilted or straight? Apart from this in this video you talked about A and B string what i understand is A and B both are physically same strings but A is when you play without placing your finger on string and B is when you play while placing your finger on string is it like this? Like can you a bit clarify how we have to place our finger in string and when we have to place it in a step by step manner! Thank you
Hi Fareeha, Hold the bow straight while playing. You may notice sometimes that I tilt my bow when I play - this is something that you will work towards later down the line, it is a technique that helps produce a smoother sound. But for now, focus on holding the bow straight to get good contact with the strings. Yes, you are right - adding a finger to the A string changes the pitch from A to B. Musical notes/pitches are named A, B, C, D, E, F, G. When you place a finger on the strings you are moving to the next pitch up. For example, on the A string: with no fingers, the pitch you will make is A. If you add 1 finger, you are going up one step (or 'tone') to B. On the D string, adding a finger will take you up a tone to E, and so on... Each finger you add will take you up another step. I hope that helps.

About the open strings
Hey 😀❤️ ...it was very nice ..to see ur vedios ...please also give a vedio for beginners to buy a new violin.... ❤️🎻
Hi meg I love your lessons and I have a question My row in is cracked and it won't work can you tell me a solution
If your rosin is cracked it will still work. Try to avoid the crack, and if it's broken in half, you can just use one half or the other.
@@MusicwithMeg Thank you so much
Meg my violin dose not have a rosin.@MusicwithMeg
