Great review as always, Nick! Mecool is doing a great job with these recent releases, but I think they put the wrong hardware in the wrong enclosures. If the KD2 was inside the KM2, I'd order one right now. Certainly, with an adapter and port hub, you can make the KD2 more like a "box", but why they juiced up the stick, and crippled the box, I'll never know. I can only hope that the next release will be a fully Google certified L1 box with Netflix ESN, an S922x, and 4GB/64GB. The KM King! 😃
I don't know what the reasoning for choosing the enclosure, indeed it has power and needs more ports and cooling. I appreciate your comment.
Think I will sit on the fence on this one maybe they will do a software update I love mecool I am still using my bb2 as a second box to my GT king and its never let me down nice review Nick👍

Yes mecool keep at it some issues but sooner or later I believe meccol will gives uses a full streaming experience.also they need to fix putting on the box issue..great as usual Nick..😁😁😁👍👍👍

Great review as always. I have no real issues with Mecool. I am a no nonsense streamer who has Hulu for live TV and I use "alternative" apk's. The streaming is great with Mecool. I am not using Dolby so that is not a concern. I only have 2 issues with Mecool, the remote does not turn on the box from time to time and if the power goes off the wifi stops working and can't be fixed even with a factory reset. Mecool is almost as good as the google chromecast with google tv. But Mecool has more memory and is much smoother. Maybe one day someone will make a streaming device with enough memory to download, that is fast enough to never buffer and all the functions work all the time.
Thanks Thomas Mecool is always working on new models so let's home for more improvement.

Go to Ebay, get a Samsung Galaxy S8, S8 Active or S8 Plus. They come with 64 gig of disk space and 4gb ram, combine that with Samsung DeX, you will have the best media box ever. Every app will install and its Netflix certification Level 1. I have not phone connected via a bluetooth keyboard and mouse. Don't buy junkie Android boxes.
It's a another great way to view movies and TV shows but in practical use not everyone can apply it effectively in a home theater settings as an official streaming device.
Hi Great video. If you do factory reset, do you need to pair remote again? First time I received KD2 I was not able to pair remote so had to return to supplier. I am not sure did he change remote or device, but I received it already paired.
If you reset you will have to pair the remote again. It pairs with out issues
Hello and thanks for the great review. I want to buy a tv box but I'm more interested in s922x devices. Do you know if I can make Netflix HD work on beelink gt king with custom atv rom? Or do you have any other around 100$ option with s922 atv and the possibility to ad Netflix 4k
My actual box is tanix t9 with custom atv9.
Generally the box runs ok especially with this rom. But still at some videos playing directly on chrome browser it lags and that's really frustrating cause I have some sites with subed content in my lenguage that I watch alot. I was thinking that that was a problem of the sites, but actually they are working great on my phone. Plus the box some times restarts by itself( overheating I think). And even if it's less with the new rom is still annoying.
The GT King will solve your latency issues with streaming and the Netflix HD apk will work once it has L1 + HDCP on an ATV custom rom.
@@tvboxstop I found the fire Tv cube at the same price. I don't know what to do... I like the fact that the fire cube is 100% official but still that 2gb ram.....

Hello Nick, I'm wondering if you plan on reviewing the Walmart Onn UHD TV box. Or is this box simply a rebranding of the Dynalink ATV36 that you have already reviewed They sure look the same. For $20, it works fine for streaming.
I looked at it as soon as it was released and had the same thoughts in comparison the the Dynalink model. It would be more or less the same.
If my memory is correct the differences between Onn.4K and Dynalink.ATV36 are only: slight difference in the outer plastic housing, BT remote, and WiFi module used. Believe one uses Realtek WiFi chip and the other uses a Broadcom WiFi chip, can't remember which one though.

Hello Nick, you keep saying Aida64 doesn't show Dolby decoders, that is FALSE, the [AC3] and [EAC3] decoders are present for lossy Dolby Audio. Amlogic firmwares that have DolbyVision codec in Android or AndroidTV is the only time you will see "dolby" ...specifically [dolby-vision] actually printed in the codec list on Aida64. Codec naming can differ slightly from chip makers, example Mediatek will name regular DolbyDigital codec as [OMX.dolby.ac3.decoder] vs. Amlogic naming it [OMX.amlogic.audio.decoder.ac3].

Yes you can use pen drives NTFS formatted. However, when you plug pen drives into Android boxes of streaming devices they tend to sometimes create Android filesystems on the drive.

I was told by a manufacturer that for a TV Box to have WebCam and microphone capabilities it must obtain a special Google certification due to a child protection laws. All mobile phone manufacturers get that certification for their mobile phones. The Mecool KA2 NOW is one such TV Box that has his level of certification however, due to the certification there is no sideloading of APKs allowed under the agreement.
Then how can I get the netflix for this?

Almost 99% with one drawback. It's lack's the special Netflix ESN for the official app. All others work.

@@tvboxstop okay if it's a good streaming device a few dollars more may be worth the investment. I have both a Roku and firestick I personally like the Roku better. Just my choice because I also have Roku TV'S and I like the ease of use.
Yes it is a decent device. The added cost is for the hardware that is better than the stick or the Roku
After using the KD2 for awhile, you find out its a Piece of Junk !!! It takes 4-5 times of pulling out the Power Cord & putting it back in to get the Stupid thing to come on !! After watching RUclips videos I was really excited to get it, but the Power Surge issues make a Piece of Junk !! Too bad, cause if you get it going it actually is pretty decent.
Humm OK maybe it's a power adapter issue. You can replace it you know.
