School aide can finally make it to her mother's gravesite thanks to a gift from a Secret Santa

- The EastIdahoNews.com team is busy this holiday season helping a local man gift $1 million to deserving people in eastern Idaho. Secret Santa is a real person who wants to remain anonymous and hopes to bless as many individuals in our community as he can.
Gaydena is one of the most caring, loving selfless people you'll ever meet. For over 30 years, she has been a paraprofessional at Snake River High School. She truly cares about the students she works with, helps them get organized and makes sure they have the resources to be successful.
She is retiring after this school year so she can take care of her husband. She has been a coach for the Snake River Special Olympics team for close to 30 years. It is her passion to help those around her and especially give opportunities to those who would otherwise not have the chance. She loves and treats her Special Olympic Athletes like family.
One of her athletes came down with COVID-19. Gaydena and some other athletes went to the sick athlete's house with balloons and gifts and visited through a window. It meant so much to the family. The athlete's mom cried because of the joy and love that Gaydena showed their family.
The pandemic has not been easy on Gaydena. Her mother, who lived in Canada, passed away in April 2020. Because the borders to Canada closed, Gaydena was not able to attend the funeral. The plan was to go to Alberta in September 2021 after the border opened up but she was unable to because money for the trip needed to go toward car repairs.
Secret Santa asked if we could visit Gaydena with an early Christmas present. Watch the video above to see the surprise!

That's wonderful! Both of you really make a difference for the program. I did SO with friends for some years; loved every minute! Our athletes all lived in the same group home; we trained and worked out a lot!

What is so wonderful about Secret Santa is that the gifts given are perfectly tailored to the recipient's needs. This makes each story so emotional.

I agree 100%! Nate IS what America needs, especially this time of the year. He could very well just give people the gifts and leave but he shares their stories and gives them love.
Now the borders to Canada are open (we hope) she can make the trip to honor her late mother. She was done wonderful things for 30 years with the Special Olympics. Nice gifts to make the trip go well. (And, yes, the bishop part of it confirms my thoughts that most, if not all, of these recipients must be members of the LDS church.)

This woman is very deserving of what was given to her considering she lost the greatest gift of all, her mother and couldn't attend the arrangements due to covid! My heart goes out to her just like the many others who lost their loved ones and had to be isolated from them and family as well. It was an awfully hard time for so many.......Thank you Nate and Secret Santa for brightening up the season for this sweet woman.....💗

I’m so sorry for your loss, I also lost my Mammaw (grandmother) this past Easter Sunday and it has been one of the hardest things I’ve ever had to endure and experience. She is the beautiful selfless love for whom raised me, It feels like nothing in life is the same anymore.

Ahhhh Gaydina deserves this. I never knew what she did at the high school until I was graduated, I just knew she was always there at the athletic games helping us out. Her whole heart is with the kids, throughout the whole school!

I had the chance to attend a camp where she was the chaperone in our cabin. By the end of the four days we were there, we all called her grandma. She truly is an incredible person and I’m so grateful to see her receive this special gift ❤️
