Call me cheap but I just bought one of these and it’s the most I’ve ever spent on a reel. I’ve been using the Penn battle series for a while now and fish the cape cod canal regularly and it has handled the conditions for years so I’m excited to see how the sealing works.
@@Wordupdoe amazing reel have dunked it a good amount of times and runs smooth plus can handle 40in striper in a super fun way I have the 4500 size bail less on a 8’8” medium action tsunami air wave
I want to purchase one of these reels but I am holding back as I have read that the IPX5 of this reel is not good and once the water get's in you have to service it or it will break after two weeks. The same source also recommended to spend the extra cash on the penn slammer which is ipx6 rated and is a much better reel. I don't know how much of it is true but you said in the video yu haven't yet had wtaer get in your spinfishers. Also how do the sizes like the 7500 and 8500 compare to the shimano sizes??
I want to purchase one of these reels but I have read that the ipx5 rating on these isn't good and lets water in but get's sealed from inside causing rust from the inside. The same source also recommended because of this to spend the extra cash on the slammer which has a rating of ipx6 which is better than the ipx5..Not sure how true all of this is. How does the 7500 and 8500 size compare to the shimano sizes??
I have used a spinfisher fishing off the beach and my boat for 5+ years. The reel is still solid and smooth with no signs of water intrusion. I have actually opened up the reel and re greased the gears and it showed no sign of water entering the reel. With that being said the slammer would perform just as well and probably better. Dont have any experience with them personally. A 7500-8500 spin fisher would compare to a 10-14000 size shimano reel.
Penn reels are indestructible. I have a few Penn reels, spinning and conventional that are 50+ years old that are in great shape and work fine. So what they’re a little heavy, They’re built like tanks and bullet proof.
@@JoeGrecoso my issue that I’m running into is I’m looking at these reels on Amazon as you probably know the 6’s got discontinued The 5500 is $210 The 6500 is $137 The 6500 only weights 4 more oz and has 5lbs more drag With this in mind what do u think?
@@Wordupdoe the 6500 would be fine for the bass, ive caught 80# yellowfin tuna on a 6500 so it is a very capable reel. It would probably fish best on the 12’ rod with heavier gear/rough water fishing where you need the extra power otherwise its a bit beefy for the smaller stuff.
What made the spinfisher series so famous, a abundant supply of parts, that network is gone, so the new series will never be as famous as the 2 and 3rd generation ones

You will wish you got a Slammer :) 40lbs of drag buttery smooth.

So I have a 3500 and a4500 spin fisher and I love them do you think I should get a 6500 for the bigger bass or stay with the smaller ones? Thx!
Also worth mentioning I mainly use 9-12ft rods with plugs that range from 1-4oz
Id go with the 5500 for bigger bass. The 6500 would be a little overkill in my opinion.

what daimeter line u spool on it and how many meters? (4500 series)
For a 4500 I would recommend 20# or 30# braided line
This or the shimano baitrunner im either buying penn spinfisher 8500 or shimano 12000D hard choice
Both great reels, can’t go wrong with either.
Just keep the baitrunner away from the beach ! Ask me how I know - no problems with the spinfisher
Battle 3 dx or spinfisher vi
Spinfisher all day
Titanium for the win 😎

Does the 4500 spin-fisher vi have anti reverse?
It does not have a switch.
