Hey, I have this same reel and you seem like quite the expert 😂. My drag isn’t as light as it was when I got it and it doesn’t click when drag gets taken out. Where should I be looking to fix the issue and could you put time stamps to the video so I know what you’re talking about? Thanks
Thanks for checking out the video. It sounds like you've never had the reel serviced before. Check out the spool, drags and shaft. The video is a resource; take the time to search through it. If you're too busy or not inclined to taking the time to do the work yourself, try taking the reel to your local tackle/repair shop for assistance. All the best with it. Spread the word about the channel.
This is an awesome video man. I was able to open up my 6500 that fell in the ocean, full of sand. It had been unusable for about half a year until I had some spare time today and decided to take it apart. Some parts aren't in the best condition but it seems to be working. Very much appreciated.
You're welcome and thanks for watching! That'll happen with something sitting for so long after being dunked. Check my video library for my bearing cleaning tutorial. I'll do another one to include more types at some point within the next year. Spread the word about the channel!
great video !!!I have the 650 ll And the beil don’t want to close 🥴 but I don’t see anything broken, what are the posible parts that might Be Broken ? Thanks in advance
Thanks for checking out the video. Make a video of you opening (and trying to close) the bail at a few different speeds and post the link here so I can see it in action. Thanks.
Press down on the top off the circle off the line keeper and put line under at the same time my friend that is how you put the line under the line keeper 😊
Great video. Can you tell me what screwdrivers you use for the Phillips head screws? I have tried just about everything and cannot find one with a tip that fits the heads properly, causing them to cam out. Any advice would be appreciated!
Thanks for checking out the video. Sorry to hear you're having issues the sizing. See the video description for some of the tools I use. Spread the word about the channel.
@@jrod1077 No worries. Hopefully, it helps. I'll usually stick to flatheads unless a Phillips is specifically needed. Just remember to use downward pressure while backing out the screw.... helps avoid stripping the head.
Great videos and explication, I'm sure your videos helped loads of people. I got two reels spinfisher VI 6500 LL and on one of them I've got exactly the same problem as you had on the previous model V on the live liner future. I bought them brand new, but when i opened the reel i found marks that someone opened the reel and he damaged the twoo o rings on the sides of the live liner future. I'm wondering if you can't advise me on how to order some spare parst for my reels? The web sites and the phone number that are coming with the reels doesn't seem to help me. Thanks
Thanks for checking out the video, Alin. Your best bet on Penn parts is mysticparts.com (there are a couple retailers too). If you can't get it through them, try eBay. If neither works, try simply packing both areas with grease.... this will create the same type of seal to get from an o-ring. Hope this helps.
@@TSGReelService A very interesting video. Thank you Barry. Now I know how this fishing reel is built. What's going on inside. I have a Spinfisher 6500 LL fishing reel. The idea with the seal in the housing is awesome, I like that pretty much. I know now that the water can't get in. We've done a lot to seal the housing, so that no water can get in. Always big issues with the water, especially with salt water. Salt water can destroy everything. I seal the case with solid ceramic grease, it works fine, but quite awkward if you grease the edges of the case. It is not necessary if you have a Spinfisher reel. :-) Very good job Barry. - Jan 👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼😀😀😀😀🐟🐟🐟🐟
@@fischercustombaits thanks bud. The "waterproofing" can get people in trouble, though... they think the fishing reel is impervious to water and never get a serviced until it's too late. Lol
@@TSGReelService yes exactly, you are right Barry. Corrosion here, corrosion there, broken parts. It is not worth repairing the fishing reel. Spinfisher is well sealed. At 2.30 I know how to attach the line to the line keeper. That is very easy. Tomorrow I'll do a short vid and you can see on my Instagram. , ~ Jan🎣🎣👍🏼👍🏼😀😀🐟🐟🐟🐟
Thank you for the video. Was doing maintenance on my Spinfisher 6500 today and once reassembled the bail does not trip when initiating the reel. Any advice?
The 6500s do not have auto trip bails. This is to prevent it from tripping mid cast when throwing larger lures. I was thrown off when I first got my 6500 but it is by design
Hey bro, cheers for the teardown - having an issue with my spinfisher 10500s where the drag clicker gear is spinning on the main shaft. Not sure if i can take the gear off though without breaking the assembly and having to order a new one. Do you have any idea if it is possible to break the assembly down further? Thanks
Thanks and thanks for checking out the video! For future reference, please be specific with the reel's info when asking a question about it. I'm assuming you're referring to the 10500SSVI... you'll need to replace the shaft.... it's all one piece. If someone else has another solution, please let us know.
Makes total sense brother! I'm trying to figure out a way to do it without taking a spool off, but I guess that's not possible. However, sometimes I get it to work with my fingernail and some sleight of hand movements... but it's still tough. I wonder if I can come up with a better mousetrap? 🤔🤔🤔🙂

Spinfisher vi 6500 rotor aluminium or graphite?

Thanks for watching! Yes.
How often would you do this?
Thanks for checking out the video. General rule, once a season or two, but can vary with use.

You push the line keeper out with your finger from inside the spool after you wrap it let it go
