In this fishing gear review I compared the Penn Spinfisher 6 vs the Spinfisher 7 to see what the major upgrades are. Their honestly were not much, a solid brass gear and a new leader clip. Penn makes some nice reels so which ever Penn Reel you chose is going to be good.

Great review, straight to the point and you absolutely beat the crap out of that reel and still working in good condition
Amazing review Philip, definitely learned something new today!
An interesting thing to note is that all models from 5500 up have the exact same size and number of drag washers, kind of strange considering the drag rating goes up with size, This is the same for VI and VII, you can check it in the parts diagrams.
Good review, I have been looking for a reel to tackle monster fish from all over the world
This one should be up to the test!
Thought about getting one
If you got the money I’d say go do it.
Oh man we need to get back out there this summer! Great review, i love line clips. My Penn reels dont have them though. They should be a feature on all reels.
I've got a big one in 6000 series. No bait feeder. They are the best spinning reel I've ever owned and I'm 64. They will handle anything in fresh water you can catch.
I'm sure they're good reels, but I doubt they will last as long as an old Penn 704 or Penn 710
I accidently grabbed the standard verison of the Spinfisher 7... I have to go back now lol
Oh no! That’s a bummer. Hopefully they have it in stock. Took me a while to find the live liner version
My brother wants the biggest one for surf sharks. The live liners are awesome alligator gar reels.
Imo the price diffrence for the 10500 vi and the vii your basically paying a pretty good mark up for just a line clip is wild its sad cause the vi is already getting fazed out lots of places are out of stock ir have been out of stock for a while
Hey great video, Do the spare spools for 7 fit on the 6?
I’m not sure, I never tried. Sorry I couldn’t answer that one.
I have both - no difference when in use.
Are the spools interchangeable?
@MADMAX-sy9kt I haven’t tried but I wouldn’t be surprised if they were
the 6 looking like a good discont
Are these supposed to auto close the bail on crank? I bought 4 and none of them do.
They don't auto close the bail, but if the live liner is engaged and you reel down it should turn the live liner off
I just bought a 6 5500 series. I did some research before buying and what I found out that up to the 4500, they’re auto close, but 5500 and up try don’t.
Sir please do answer are the rotors metal
I believe they are
Dude! How do you know so much bout these?!?
Research, and emails to Penn!
