It feels good to get a project done. And staying up all night to finish one and then turn around to edit the footage and post the video - that's dedication!
Man..your "sticktuitiveness" is fantastic! AND you did the editing too...WOW! I have spots on my garage floor from many painting & other jobs on the cement floor...I call them happy memories of projects that were completed LOL! Like a historical timeline!
Brock, you're doing a great job. What the heck it's a hay wagon not a custom show car. Appreciate all the things you do and show even mistakes you make make. Keep up the great videos. God Bless.
I'm a antique guy myself ,I really like your wagon, and if you get downers, just think like me on options, they are like a-holes everybody has one. Great job!
No disrespect to you and I hope your hard work and excellent paint job holds up. I have used por15 on many projects over many years. Truck frames, weber bbq frame, cooler rack, boat trailer, obs f250 side step sub frame, wrought iron railing etc. None of these projects held up well. Some projects i painted over the rust like its recommended. Some projects were sandblasted. Some were new metal. I meticulously followed the instruction, and i top coated with por15 top coat. I know how much time & effort you put in. Me too. When it fails, it comes off in sheets. It can really piss you off. I found a much better product. It's called mastercoat. The master series. It's used on bridges and train cars. Search out a fellow RUclipsr called "repair geek". He has a recent thorough comparison of several leading rust preventative coatings, including the above-mentioned products. He also has video's on properly rustproofing a car and several undercoating video's. I realize you are done with your project. But you will probably be painting other things. There is an industry standard salt fog test performed to measure and rate the durability of outdoor paint. Por15 is rated at 1000 hours in the salt fog test with poor results. Rust creeping under the paint. Mastercoat lasted 14,000 hours with excellent results. No creep. Also, you can spill brake fluid and acetone on Mastercoat without harm. That is why the ny city subway uses it. Graffiti can easily be removed with acetone. I did my 1997 f250 frame with it 3 years ago, and it is rock solid and looks like the day i painted it. So far, it's been amazing for me compared to my experience with por15. Its also less expensive. If you ever have any questions about Mastercoat. You can get the number off their website, and when you call, Pat, the owner answers the phone. Ironically, he used to work for por15 many years ago. Really nice guy. Gave me great advice about removing my factory undercoating.
I know you keep saying that you weren't planning on taking those parts off... but doesn't it feel just wonderful when it's all apart and you can get to every surface. Great job!
Good morning, Brock, nice video. If a $100 plus SCARES you on John Deere paint. I was in the collagen industry for 35 years. Some colors of 1500 for automotive gallon the world's con. Crazy great video great content have a good day family!

Looks great, I have always painted my truck flatbeds and equipment trailers with weenie rollers and chip brushes. The enamel lays down pretty smooth before it dries.
Por-15 is awesome paint.....go to Vevor or Harbor Freight and get you a sand blaster for your next project. Much easier and preps all the nooks and crannies
Good morning Brock. The hay wagon looks great. With the rust pitts it wouldn't have made much difference if you had sprayed it. The paint will shrink as it dries and tighten up. I'll be real surprised if you see any brush strokes in the paint. And no, I'm not tired of the hay wagon. Actually, as you know this kind of project holds special interest to me. I can't wait till we paint the Model A. God bless and have a wonderful day. 👍👍🙂
That looks really good Brock! I did my truck frame in POR 15, but didn't top coat it because it's not exposed to the sun. I also learned later that the POR 15 degreaser is meant to be diluted. Oh well, next time I'll do that.
Looks real fine Brock! We had the exact same JD running gear under one of our hay wagons. Dad bought it at auction from where the back corner had been burned in a barn fire. We fixed up the rigging and used it for years. The frame never looked as nice as yours does, though!
@@RockhillfarmYT Ours was rigged with a flat platform. Solid oak stringers on each side, maybe 3” x 6” x 16’. IIRC it was 4 crosspieces of oak , maybe 3” x 4” x 8’. The original platform was 1” oak boards about 6”” or 8” wide x 16’. We fixed the rear corner that had been burnt with hemlock boards sawed from our own trees. Good memories!
@@danielmacdonald16It'll be fine. There's just use cases where it's not the ideal choice. For the type of use the hay wagon will see, any type of rust conversion product would be more than adequate.
You need an acetylene oxygen torch. If you are not going to reuse bolts. You cold cut them off fast with a torch. Plus you can heat up metal also. You can’t go wrong with a torch on a farm.
Would like to see the difference in paint color. Regular Deere green, tractor supply green and the antique Deere green. I looked up the MSDS of this product and Eastwoods. Ingredients are basically the same. And the Eastwood product is advertised as one coat. Did my Ford Ranger truck frame in one coat, Turned out just fine. Used Harbor Freight cheap throw away brushes.
The Martin senour ih red paint from Napa for a gallon it was 150 but I needed a gallon of primer and quart of white and Gardner and reducer and all said and done it was 450 bucks
I was planning to use it kind of like a Carry All. If I have a big project with a lot of supplies you can just pile it on there and drive it down. Might also take it to the Christmas parade with the 1941 deere
I'm usually cheap and run my hand torch with the green propane bottles. 😂 Does the slightly higher burning temp of MAP-Pro help in this application? From googling I see that propane, Map-Pro, and MAPP burn at 3600, 3730, and 5300 F respectively. It seems hard to find true MAPP gas.
I’m just curious I could have missed it somewhere but why in the world didn’t you take those pretty yellow wheels off before you painted it?? Then you could paint the hubs too and wouldn’t get any on the wheels
I mentioned in the video that I regretted doing it that way. My mindset at the time was that there was no way to paint the entire thing all at once. if I had it sitting on stands, I could’ve painted the wheel hubs, but I couldn’t of painted the bottom until the top was dry Still don’t like the way I did it

Paint looks good, it should last for decades.
Great job Brock. I look forward to seeing you put everything together and build the box on the frame.
Brock, what a great job ! Get some rest ..
Looks great Brock. Love your dedication to finish a project. God bless

That turned out great Brock I remember when you started this months ago. Glad to see the progress, well done.
Thanks
Looks great 👍
Spending the extra money for the classic paint was money well spent. Looks great.
Looks really freaking good Brock
Thanks
Beautiful green color!
Definitely. A little lighter than I expected. It darkened slightly when it dried.
Nice paint job .
well done. That wagon is good for YEARS! might set up for parades?

good work. I am jealous. I have always dreamed of rebuilding a farm wagon. Of course my running gear would not be green.

I bought it because I thought it would be neat to have something period Specific that matched the old tractor.
Now I’m gonna use it for Hay.

I like the hay wagon , cuz it's something that I would do or have done. 🤪
@RepairGeek had an interesting comparison of rust treatments from about 8 days ago. Worth watching.

I have a 1964 Ford Galaxie it's sure looks awesome at 20ft 😂 someone had a run job in a few spots

It looks pretty spiffy Brock! Maybe you could mask off the adjacent areas to work on the hubs.

I'm hoping to see how you might do the top. Are you planning on sharing that when you get to it?
Yes
Cut and replace from start would have saved you a lot of time . But you are learning 😊
Brock, nice work. Looking forward to this built. What all will you use it for besides hauling hay?

Question, but I don’t really know the answer. I’ve got some of the yellow bottles and some of the blue ones.

Yea the jeep may be to many projects unfinished cause tour start good but follow thru is not good, hahahaha.
The price of that paint from JD oof... the wagon looks great do far though, the floor might need a little work now 😂
You will never get the lid off the por-15 can!!
Unless you cleaned the rim really really well.
oh well, the paint on the floor will wear off with time.
