I like to dump two cups of cold white vinegar in the tank first and turn it on. Wait a few seconds for the vinegar to cycle through into a new filter and shut it off and let the machine stand off for 10-15 minutes. Your letting the straight vinegar do it's work by loosening up the calcium deposits in the mechanism to the filter. Meanwhile I'll fill up the tank with cold water and turn it back on after the time allotted is done. It'll take about three pots of fresh water to diminish the vinegar taste and your good to go.
Next time before dumping the vinager down drain add a scoke of baking soda down drain then pour the coffeepot vinager down the drain it will bubble and clean smelling pipes.
Thank you! Very helpful. You’re so cheery and fun and positive. Think I’ll watch all your videos just to pick up your good vibes and positive activities.
@@queenofthehousehold I hope I understand correctly. When the descaling happens, the scale is also carried away from the reservoir into the carafe by the water/vinegar solution?
Hi Kathy! No, I don’t think so. Apple cider vinegar is used for antibiotic purposes not for cleaning. You’ll want to stick with distilled white vinegar.
Nice vid , but why add a coffee filter to the basket ? Your vinegar and water method of running it through the machine is fine and standard. However the basket is critical to clean. That is where most of the the coffee sediments are, even if we can't see them. The coffee filter part again , is counter productive..
Coffee filters help sift out anything in your coffee maker when its cleaning..everytime i do this method theres always some little pieces of hard water or whatever left behind in the filter..to each his own tho🤷♀️
Nice video - but for safety, you should unplug your coffeepot before the final cleaning with the water/vinegar/soap mixture
Thanks for the tip!
It's adorable to hear your baby girl in the back ground she just wanted to help her mommy.... cherish these moments

Only added a couple of squirts if white , is that enough or should add a cup of white vinegar

Excellent. Worked beautifully! 😊
Yay! I’m so glad.
What if the coffee machine has a filter is best to leave it in or out??? Thanks for all you do, great share!!!;
I’m not sure, since mine doesn’t come with one, you could wash it separately, if you wanted. Thanks for watching!
P
Good Housekeeping how to clean your coffee post with vinegar and water?
I also have a 4 cup. Thank you
You’re welcome! 😊
I have that same pot.
Isn’t it that the scale still remains in the reservoir? I thought the reservoir had to be rinsed as well to remove the scale still in it.
As you run the cycle, the hot vinegar will descale the reservoir.

Thanks for the feedback!
I personally, clean the basket with a brush every other day, this way coffee sediments are easy to clean.
I'll clean mine tomorrow, have to get vinegar. Thank you for the tutorial.
