Wow. So glad I found this. My life needs a total makeover and cleaning and decluttering an old house from the 50s is a sore focal point. My 90ish parents' home has now become mine. One has passed, another in a nursing home. I'm tired, I now work full-time after years of being their caregiver and I have lupus. I have subscribed to your channel after seeing this because it will help me tremendously. Thank you for keeping it real too. So tired of ppl not understanding that life happens and we all have different cards we're dealt. I look forward to going on a journey with your videos to help get me through all the chaos! I love that you're an artist too...I have art stuff all over the place and would love to be organized so I can paint again 🤗🌈.

I have been in the cleaning business for 30 plus years. A very common problem is using to much soap, that just attracts more dirt. Only use as much soap as needed to remove the dirt, and rinse well after.

I just use a steam mop, no cleaner unless there is a particular issue. The guy that professionally cleans tile said same thing as you - minimize use of cleaners and how much water you put on floor because it pushes dirt into grout. I also found a magic eraser works great at least on ceramic or porcelain tile

I moved into this apartment in 2016 and I tried everything, I mean every thing to clean the floor and the grout. Thank you so much for this cleaning floor advice. I used everything you mentioned except I didn't have the Dawn dish soap, so I used a little over a cup of apple cider vinegar and a few squirts of Ajax dish soap. I also accidentally boiled my water in the microwave. I then mixed all the ingredients and sprayed away! while waiting, I watched a show on t.v. and here, it was a half hour that the spray was on my floor! lol Anyway, when I went to clean it, I didn't even have to use a scrub brush! I just used an old tee shirt and it came off so easily. I was so amazed! wow! Thank you again for the suggestion about the vinegar, dish soap. I will use this now for everything!!!

It was the only thing that got out that deep down, ground in dirt. I’ve since put down self-stick vinyl tiles & sweep mop at least weekly, so tough cleaners aren’t needed anymore. My mom uses vinegar/water mixture on the regular which was recommended by her floor installer. Heating is to help with mixing, dissolving the grime. Getting the dissolved grime up no matter the solution is key. A microfiber or something to soak it up does well, a mop that smears it around does not. LA's Totally Awesome all-purpose does a great job as does the concentrate for grime buildup. I often think Dawn comes up with these hacks which work some of the time but not any better than other products. Glad you found a solution.

It looks like a sidewalk full of old chiclets, gross! I use w 40 leave it for 10 seconds and scrub with a towel tile by tile.
