I use the toilet for dumping the dirty water, tub water to rinse bucket then toilet again for dumping. I to use this same spin bucket, but don’t recommend dumping in kitchen sink, especially and sand into garbage disposal is not good for it. Thank for sharing.
I dump into the toilet as well but if she dumps out into a non disposer side of her sink that works ok as long as she runs water after to clear grit from the trap. But it is easier for me height wise to do the toilet rather than the sink and the tub is right there to get water to rinse out. I’m getting too old to lift to the sink to dump
I also use toilet to dump the dirty water just can’t stand the thought of pouring anything down the sink where I use to prepare food.I’m not a compulsive cleaner or even close but there are somethings that don’t make a lot of sense and that is one. A neighbor of mine used her kitchen sinks for her mop buckets I almost tossed my cookies and I will tell you I never ate at their house and always watched what they would bring to neighborhood functions,I would not eat
I clean my floors with the same mop bucket and love it. I don’t use soap on my floors because of the large amount of soap scum and dulling it puts on the floors. I use your basic white vinegar. It’s natural, it neutralizes any odors, it’s a natural disinfectant and you’ll notice after a few cleanings your floors will look amazing. After a few cleanings the soap scum will be completely removed. Thank you!!
Nice job! I have the same type of mop and bucket and it's the best. I've been cleaning houses since forever. Your floors are gorgeous. In my experience, I've learned a lot. One thing is that if you use too much soap, cleaner or whatever you can eventually damage the finish on the wood. I would skip the Tide pods and just stick with Mr Clean. It does a great job . My favorite is the lemon scent. Vinegar is good too. I did have a guy that installs hardwood floors tell me to only use it occasionally because it is strong. But what do I know, I have laminate! Your home is lovely so you must be doing something right! Sorry this was so long🎉
@@rocky6055I'm just curious. Why shouldn't vinegar be used on real wooden floors? And what should you use on real wood. I'm asking to help my mother bc she had that real old wood. Thanks in advance. Please help me😢
I pour the dirty water on a ugly tree in my backyard that I didn’t care at all for and the tree blossomed and is now so beautiful giving me dozens of avocados 😂
I've been a house cleaner for 20 years. I always use Dawn dish soap for washing floors because it breaks up all grease and dirt and it's much safer for kids and pets.
Please google "Does Dawn Dish washing liquid have bad chemicals in it? " and see what you find. I quit using it in my home where grandchildren and my animals are plus do not want in in my country water system or on my hands.
@@bellatronm5875 I have always used vinegar and water on most of my floors and when soap was needed because of extra activity in bad weather I use ivory soap which I grate into a quart of hot water, mix in with whisk before adding to mop bucket and adding more water. Also, ivory flakes work fine. I pour my mop water outside or down the commode, never down a kitchen sink. Also, we always take our shoes off at the door. This has worked great for the floors always looking like new and our allergies.
@@bethdavis7812 .I would think that anything with soap will require a lot of rinsing , wouldn't it? . I use diluted pinesol. Or wood cleaner and then "quick shine". .
Young lady, your floor was not that dirty! I've cleaned houses where I got water that was dark brown and almost black! I suggest pouring the water down the toilet.
I remember reading in Real Simple that if you wait to clean your sink last, it is perfectly fine to empty the water in it. Queen of clean was a contributor and said she forever would use her 2 sided sink, one side for clean water with solution and the other for rinsing after it became dirty, or was time to redip in the solution side. This also works if you need to do a quick water rinse after the job, just use the same method except replace left side with water. After everything is done you can use whatever product you would use for disinfecting your sink normally after a good rinse first, then let it sit for the sanitize-disinfection period of time while even possibly scrubbing product with a cheap soap dish brush dispensing gadget, filled with the same product. So you are not mixing chemicals, affecting the disinfectant process etc. Plus you just rinse, dry and cross that task off the list.
Your home is very clean my dear! Those floors were slightly dirty. I thought the mop water would be darker! Thank you for sharing. When I was your age and didn’t have so many health problems I kept my home just as clean. How I miss being able to do my own cleaning! Maybe if I do just a little every day I can clean again. Thank you so much from one barefoot southern woman to another.
Ii am wondering if this bucket has ever cracked, esp the area whére you spin dry the móp head.. Why do you have to heat up the water? Tap hot water is not good enough, just áking Been thinking about getting it, thanks
I'm really happy that you've found something that works for you and that so many other people like it too, but I'm really stunned that this seems like a new concept to so many. I'm tickled at the thought!. I'm from the UK, and this is how we've always cleaned the floors. I'm 48 and I have always done this, like my mum, my gran, my great-gran and so on. You clean the house, vacuum, "pop the kettle on" (boil the water), make a cup of tea with it and then pour the rest in the mop bucket. When you're done mopping, you sit down with your cup of tea! I'd never actually considered it might be different elsewhere, and I love that thought! PS - always use boiling water, one for the hygiene factor, but also it'll evaporate off your floors. Warm water will not evaporate, it'll sit there and, over time, damage wooden or laminated flooring. Also, it'll leave those faint water marks. Also, to avoid any build-up of residue, or you get streaky floors when the sun shines through, skip the detergents and use boiling water and white vinegar only. Dirt cheap, anti-bacterial, safe for kids and animals, environmentally friendly - and has worked since before even my great-gran! Happy mopping, I'm always going to think of you when I do my floors. Love from the UK!
Aww thank you so much. I use vinegar for a lot of cleaning around the house but I HATE the smell of vinegar. I can tolerate it long enough to pour it in the laundry or to pour it into the toilet or sink to scrub for a second. But I don’t think I could tolerate the whole house smelling like it until the floors dried. Thanks for watching from the UK! I feel special! (Also, I love that you said “tickled at the thought”! We say that here in the Southern US and the rest of the country thinks it’s silly, I guess. 🤷🏼♀️ HAHA we are not as different as we sometimes think we are, I guess.) Much love to you!
I am so thankful to this lady that she made this Video I did not know how to clean floors I wish you could make some videos on how to keep house organized and clean and put together and other house stuff it will be be great help❤
I boil the jug and pour all over my tiles and mop, but I mop 4 to 5 times a day because the tiles a white and glossy you can spot a spec of dust so I bought my self a cordless stick vacuum the vacuums and mops at the same time to use it several times daily, but still do my traditional water boil jug pour once a week
@@tigereyes8396 I have white tile too. I use Clorox Clean. Spray and mop and have a clean bucket of water to rinse as I go. I also use an electric brush to get at the grout. Works great if you have a small area to clean.
Is the same true with laminate flooring? Also, everyone leave her alone. I have been a nurse for 34 years. I am the biggest germ freak around and YES, you can dump dirty water down a sink and it can be disinfected to live another day! Just like you can debone a chicken in a sink, disinfect the sink properly afterwards (I wear gloves when touching raw meat, just fyi), and you can then wash dishes in that same sink that very night. Funny how that works, isnt it? 😂🤣 You are doing an AMAZING job! Thank you for your video!
Thank you!! That was my same reasoning with the sink. What about all the salmonella from raw meats and eggs??? I don’t fill my sink and dump fruits and veggies in it to wash them. I put them in a colander and hose them down so they don’t touch the sink (despite having thoroughly cleaned and sanitized it). My question would be why are you putting ready-to-eat foods in a sink that is used for gross things (mop water, raw foods, dirty dishes, washing bacteria off your hands, etc)??? As far as laminate floors go…they told us when we bought this house that these are real hardwood. But I don’t believe they are. I think they are laminate or something else. Also, I only used the tide pods at first because the floors were sooooo filthy from the previous owners, and being told they were real hardwood I was unsure what to use other than the swiffer….and that created MORE buildup…so the tide pods in the water a few times finally got all the gunk up. Now for regular maintenance I just use the mr clean and occasionally (like maybe once or twice a year) I will throw a pod in with it. Hope that helps. Thanks for the kind comment!
I appreciate this a lot. My mother never made me help out with chores growing up and I became an adult and felt so lost and overwhelmed once I had my own place. Now as a 32yr old woman, I still feel much more comfortable cooking than cleaning. I will definitely be trying this and I love a good cleaning video. It’s so helpful for those like me who just don’t really have cleaning skills! A visual really helps.
Aww I’m glad this was helpful! I don’t use the tide every time. I did it a few times to get the layers of grime off this floor that was left by the previous owners. Now that I got them good and clean, I usually just use a little of the mr clean. Maybe once every 6 mo or so I will throw a pod in with it. Thanks for the kind comment! ❤️
@user-kc7mu4jp4p Oh no, I don't blame her, Mom is all love and srenght. I´m just saying that for some reason She didn´t. I still calling her to ask some things thanks God I have her. But I felt and was ashamed for didn´t know how to do it. I learned watching or by my own. At least I´m good cooking, she hates to cook, so when I was in home I put my hands on that. :)
@@denisea.9033 Parents should teach their children life skills. One of the funniest jokes I know is a college kid who brought his laundry home. He asked his mom why when she washed his clothes they came out so much cleaner. She asked him what kind of detergent he was using. His response? "Detergent???" I had a serious issue with a girl staying with me at one time. She packed her clothes into the washing machine like you'd pack brown sugar into a cup. I explained to her that they wouldn't get clean that way. And it was bad for the machine. The next time she did laundry, she did it again! She had to go.
I’m terrible at housecleaning and used the swiffer wet mop. It’s gotten more challenging since back surgery a few years ago and a bit of arthritis. (I’m 77.) Your video was so enlightening that I bought the spin mop. Was just delivered. I put in a Tbsp of Dawn and some Melaleuca all purpose cleaner. I just mopped my kitchen and bathrooms in 20 minutes. So easy!!! Feel clean, proud and accomplished! 👏🏼
I LOVE that this was helpful for you! THIS is exactly why I made the video in the first place. In the hopes it might could help someone! Where do you buy the Melaleuca? I have never heard of that brand/product before.
I love Simple Green or Clean, always forget name, in Lemon to mop, I make a spray to use on my bathroom and kitchen hard surface. I also like adding dishwashing pods when the floor is really dirty. I got burned by a pot of water just like yours that I dropped and it splashed back over my feet. My water is set hot and I run it from the tub.
I bought the swiffer wet mop because I am crippled with arthritis and it works fine and makes mopping easier, less stressful on my back, arms, etc,. Before I had the sponge mop. I will Never use a cloth mop like she had in the Video, because they Spread Dirt around. That is my experience and I'm in my 60's.
I have wood floors 127 yrs old...(old farm house) 5bdrm, 2 bath. Floors are usually mopped weekly, I use Murphys oil soap. Been doing this for 23yrs, no damage to the floors and I don't even wax 😊💞
I cleaned professionally for 20 years. We always used vinegar and water, and most of the larger homes had floor steamers for wood like yours. When you need a deep clean Murphy's oil soap is wonderful and it smells amazing.
If you add a little rubbing alcohol to your solution..not much, maybe 2 tablespoons, your floor will dry so fast and it will not damage your wood. I've been doing it for 10 years. Great video!
I’m confused about the spin mop. I get the first dunk in clean solution, then pump squeeze it damp. But, since the mop now has dirt on it, if you sink it in the clean solution before pump squeezing it, aren’t you putting the mop in now-dirty water? I would rinse the mop, after each pass, in the sink, under running water. It used more water, but… I also only take showers, no baths, because I don’t want to sit in my own dirt (kind of the same concept, I think).
@@HeronCoyote1234 She poured all the hot water into the clean side, but, there's also an opening you can pour clean water into & it keeps things separated. When you need more clean water there is a lever you can pull up & it let's more clean water into the rinse-water side. I've only had my O'Cedar a short time & it took me a couple of times to figure all that out. Actually I read the instructions, which might have helped from the beginning 😅. That big pot of very hot water she would have been dangerous, not to mention near impossible, to pour into that small clean water port without a large funnel.
In my humble opinion, and based on my 15 years of professional housekeeping, you might want to spin a bit more water out of that fabulous spin mop (this is why they are the bomb!) For your wood floors. They dry fast because the water is hot but i also think that hot water may be hard on the wood floors. And some of the color in that mop may be stain from the floors. I know for a fact that mr clean (along with pine sol) leaves a residue behind because of a shower i cleaned years ago, once a week, for 3 years, that suddenly turned black. The tile guy at home depot told me it was my cleaners residue. It had collected enough grime because it was sticky, that it turned black. I had to use Krud Cutter to get it clean and it took a hard scrub to do it. Also, thats alot of soap ! I would have changed the water out 2 or 3 times for that much floor too. It comes to a point where youre just spreading dirt around. Still great video with easy to understand instuctions. And i love your house!
Not a great video IMO. Who ever heard of using laundry on a floor that’s wooden. And probably not original real oak like back in the today. Wooden floors of today are engineered wood & not solid oak that could stand up to practically anything so that’s all the more reason NOT to use laundry detergent on an engineered floor. And too much soap as well along with using boiling water, wtf!. Sometimes I think these videos are made on purpose just for likes, reactions & sensationalism like many do in other social media platforms as who does this, including dumping the dirty bucket of water down a kitchen sink instead of a toilet bowl. .
@@revrotunda3206 It is crazy but I think she's the real deal. Not made for reactions. And someone will try this because they saw it on RUclips. I guess there are worse things a person could use on their floor .
@revrotunda3206 no one asking your opinion. I personally came on here for advice, and my floors came out amazing. Maybe create your own page so you don't chime in on others.
@@lourdescenteno3604your floors may be clean in the moment but you are running them in the long run. So I guess it depends on whether you'd rather have clean floors now or dull splintered floor in the future?? Too bad, with a little more research you could have found a method that meets both of those expectations.
My house was built in the 50’s and I’ve been mopping with hot water for well over 30 years. Water is bad for wood if the water sits on the wood for any length of time. But, hot water is good to use especially with your ceiling fan on high. The ceiling fan dries the floor faster, so the water doesn’t sit on the wood for very long at all. LOL, your dirty water was not that dirty looking. Great job! Keep up the hard work. PS: If you use a dry dust mop daily, it will keep your floors healthier. God Bless, Susan from SE Missouri
Susan Spinks... with this mop you spin it enough that the mop isn't saturated with water dear, and so the water is fine for the laminate flooring... and with fabulosa in it, trust me it dries quick!... and yes i turn on the fans in each room as well as the fan on the AC unit to help it dry quicker. 😊
Thanks! You should have seen it the first time I mopped using this method. Getting all the gunk built up from before only using the swiffer…it’s much better now that I have switched to doing it this way.
Girl, I love how you are so real. This was my first time watching you clean on youtube. doesn't everyone love the feel of clean floors on bare feet. I know I do. Loved the mopping hack. That ending comment was priceless...Just mopped and now it is thunder and lighting. I subcribed...i really liked the comments, so many clean people with great ideas.
I have a 96 year old Craftsman Bungalow with the original hardwood floors. I have used Murphy's Oil Soap for almost 30 years. It conditions the wood and my floors are beautiful. (I also use a spin mop by BoomJoy with microfiber heads) I would be concerned about the Tide pods being too harsh and the effect over time. Also, the boiling hot water seems harsh to me as well. I appreciate you sharing but I'm worried for your floors
I also wondered what the detergent might do to the finish. I used the Mr. Clean on my tile floors when they were newly installed and had a very noticeable residue left on my floor. I stopped using that and started using Pine-Sol. It cleaned up the residue and I now use it on both tile and hardwood floors. You could possibly have even prettier floors without Mr. Clean. I would definitely keep the detergent off the floor.
I agree. We had our home built almost 40 years ago and had REAL hardwood floors put in, not this engineered fake stuff that they are using today. I would NEVER use water on my hardwood or a tide pod. I too have used Murphy's Oil Soap and to restore luster, our floors have to have wax applied and then they have to be buffed. So, my advice would be to just be very careful and to know exactly what kind of floor you have before using boiling water and tide pods on it!
depends entirely on the seal used on the hardwood. definitely wouldn't recommend this treatment on anything that could be degraded by strong detergent, but your average water based seal should be fine
Great job! I love a spin mop! For the people that are worried about water on your wood floor: the mop spins the water mostly out BEFORE YOU HIT THE FLOOR! the hotter the better because it dries sooooo fast, leaving no dampness behind. Ps : spin mops are also fantastic for washing walls .. because you’re not getting any dirty water back on the wall.
Is the spun water kept separate from the clean water? (Sorry, don’t know how else to ask that LOL! Guess I’m asking if there are two chambers for water. One for the clean water and one for the dirty water. I don’t like putting a dirty mop back into clean water so I always rinse it in the sink before I put it in the mop water. Mopping takes forever and I’ve been looking for a solution. It happens no matter how well I prep the floors beforehand with sweeping and vacuuming).
@@dr.stacey7283 I have this same question! Is there a reservoir for the dirty water? So you mop and dip the mop in the suds and spin for the first go round and then what? Keep dipping? Don't see an advantage other than the spinning gives you a drier mop. I use a Rubbermaid bucket and hand spin out the mop and sometimes have an extra bucket handy with clean water that I rinse the dirty mop in before grabbing more suds for another go-round. You almost need two buckets or one combined which would be awful heavy to lift. Also, I happen to have a sink on my back porch for emptying the bucket. If I didn't have that sink I would put the dirty water down the toilet!
@@kathleen9929 yes I have 2 buckets. One with the clean water, and the red one to spin the dirty water in and rinse the mop, otherwise, if your floor is really dirty, you are just washing it with dirty water. But don't think this just applied to the bucket version - any type of mopping by the end you are using dirty water to clean.... I normally do one room, empty out the red bucket, then do the next - we have dogs and live on a property so even though the floor looks clean you know when you mop!!
OMG!!! I have been cleaning my prefinished hardwood floors for 20 years without success. This does work!!! Thank you! I have bought l kinds of gadgets, cleaners and steamers. Everything left a water residue. I have had to go on my hands and knees with a microfiber cloth and non ammonia window cleaner to make them look good. This is so much easier!!! I have Brazilian cherry hardwood and every smudge shows. Thanks!
I have to make a few comments ... I used to have a cleaning business for 20+ years and during that time I learned a few tips ... as far as cleaning wood floors (tile and fake wood floors are a different thing) never use hot water or harsh cleaning chemicals on them ... they both will damage floors over time ... I used plain water with about 3 drops of Dawn dish detergent mixed in ... then, I would get 2 clean washcloths ( I used the cheap washcloths from Target or Walmart and I got a lot of them) and wet them them in the mop water, wring them out, then laid then on the floor, overlapping a little, and mopped an area about 8x8 ... toss those cloths into a "dirty rag bag" and get two more clean ones, repeat the process ... if you rinse them in the mop water and use them again you will from then on be using dirty rags and dirty mop water to clean with ... your floors will not be clean! ... it takes a little extra work but worth it ...when my bag is full I wash them in the washing machine with detergent and a little clorax ... I never could understand reusing dirty mop water to clean with ... nasty!
What would you recommend for like you say fake wood floors and tiled floors? I have always used either dettol ( I am in the UK) or washing up liquid but a good brand like Fairy Any tips ?
I would be reluctant to use laundry detergent on hardwood floors, or to mix two different cleaning products together. I've used Murphy's Oil soap for mopping (and generral cleaning) for decades - it leaves my floors so clean and shiny, and has a wonderful, light clean scent. And best of all, it's safe for all wood surfaces and no rinsing needed! But you did just convince me to get the O'Cedar mop and bucket, so now I'm off to Amazon! xoxo ETA (Edited To Add) I ordered the O'Cedar mop and bucket, along with 6 extra mop heads, and I absolutely LOVE them! I'll never go back to a regular mop/bucket again!
I agree with not throwing mop water down the kitchen sink! I definitely think that very hot water on laminate or wood floors is not a good idea, I also use a little Murphy's oil soap on all wood in my house! A little goes a long way and it is not as expensive as most cleaners! I love my Ocedar mop and bucket, I have one mop head marked to use just with the oil soap and another for the bathroom floors! Easy peasy!! 😁
Just so as you feel better about your dirt. I have often helped my husband to clean people’s carpets and floors and I’m telling you that your dirty water was not that bad at all. In fact it was pretty clean compared to lots and lots we have seen. We can tell that you are a clean person because of the way you explained how you moved away all your dishes so that they didn’t get splashed. Well done for being so clean.🤗👍👍👍👏👏👏👏
My Gran taught me to mop 3 times. Get a good quality mop. Get a good quality squeeze / spin bucket. If your wooden floors have a surface varnish make sure whichever cleaning product you use doesn't have a harsh abrasive that will strip & dull your surface. You can get products especially for wooden floors that have a mild oil 'wood conditioner' included - that maintains the shine & fills / hides any scratches.{ Maybe that's your Murphy Oil - I've not seen that product over here in Australia } BUT Don't use it in the 1st or second bucket! Get the dirt off First! # Also be careful about how hot the water is & make sure your floors ARE ACTUAL WOOD! Some of those good quality laminated click together Faux Wood floors / floor planks can be very deceptive -real looking - & these are made of thin pieces that are are glued onto the base board. Very hot water will loosen the glue & then the laminate and cause buckling & the edges to start to curl up = Ruined Floor! Expensive. So - in between each go-over { and even between rooms - if they're medium to large } CLEAN your mop! Be guided by the colour of the water. If it's grey throw it away! Otherwise all you're doing is moving dirt from one area to another. > Rinse in fresh hot water & a mini amount of cleaner. > If your rinse water is also yucky- rinse again. Don't put too much soap on your floor. It will take several rinses to get off. ( + Its dangerously slippery. + it attracts dirt & gets tacky quickly. ) - The First Mop is to put your hot water and cleaner ONTO the floor. > Go over floor > Tip out > Rinse mop > fresh hot water > - The Second Mop is your Wash Cycle ! This loosens & removes the dirt > Tip & Rinse > Start again with a freshly cleaned mop # Depending on how grubby your floor is - how large & how dirty the water is becoming; you might need to do the 'Wash Cycle twice - The Third Mop is your Rinse Cycle - this is to remove any soap & residual dirt. > If your rinse water is still yuk - do over! # Once your rinse water is mostly clean - HERE is where you add - a minimal amount of - your Wood Conditioner product - that then goes on / into your squeaky clean timber. As Gran says; "otherwise alls you're doin is moving dirt around!"
Sounds absolutely right! Also, that’s the same as the spin mop theory.. so you’re never putting the dirty water back on the floor. Idk why , but I always have a problem getting that mop to spin dry.. too much of a hurry to get it on there straight, I think. Same theory when using a steam mop- keep changing the pad. Or else you’re just spreading dirt around like grandma said!
I love, love, LOVE this system! Going to get the double bucket for upstairs (bedroom areas) I use a tbsp of Dawn and 1/4c of baking soda to the required 2gal bucket of hot water. Clean as the board of health! I've also added 1/2c of vinegar when cleaning the kitchen or bathroom. I have a mixture of laminate, tile and vinyl planks. Works great on all floors without streaks or residue. NO shoes allowed, water dumped in toilet. If you vacuum first, there will be no "grit" in the water. Turn mop head on the side and clean baseboards also.
@@terrijuanette486 our Ace Hardware only has the single bucket system. I think Walmart also carries the double bucket system and close to the same price.
I love these tips. I have one for you, I buy my brooms from Amazon because I can get the straw brooms made from Thailand. They are the same brooms you see nail salons use. It gets dirt other brooms would have left behind. You are amazing! I’m please keep making these videos.
I am so glad you addressed that the swiffer type mop cleaners leave a film after they are so-called "clean". It's not just swiffer. I have a shark vac mop. It doesn't matter how little soap I use with the water, it always leaves a residue. I don't know why these kind of mops are so popular. And yes, it is sticky. If people do wear shoes or slippers in the house it tracks it up from the residue. I do like your idea. I think liquid laundry detergent (a couple tablespoons) would work too. Diluting it is the key. I like using warm water too. I have the Pergo type floors and would like to try the O Cedar mop. Thanks for your informative video. 😻
I have hardwood floors but I can’t use highly scented cleaners due to allergies. I use Murphy’s Oil soap, which is for wood and many other surfaces. It doesn’t leave a film, cleans great and not overly scented. I’ve been doing this for over 5 years and my floors still look brand new.
I had forgotten about Murphy’s. My mom used that when I was little and I loved the smell of our house when she mopped. I should pick some up and try it.
I was on the fence to buy one, you convinced me. Tide Pod, interesting. I'll try that too. I have gorgeous wood floors 110 years old so the hot water may have to cool down a bit. One thing...my mom told me never, EVER pour dirty mop water down the sink, you prepare food there. She saw my Aunt do that once and we were never allowed to touch anything she cooked ever again. It belongs either down the toilet or in the yard.
It’s disgusting what gross things people will put in the kitchen sink. I have rules, all that dirty water goes in the toilet. I saw someone put dirty fish tank water down their kitchen sink, I’m still not over it. Fish poop water! Yuk
She may have just poured it there to better see. We hope.🙂 my sister will bleach her cast iron sink at least once a week. And more often if my brother in law cleans some think he should have known better😅
I have not touched a mop in so long because I have been using this for several years and tried everything before. And you are so right about saving money. I am a clean floor fanatic and am barefoot in the summer and wear white socks in the winter and have 2 little dogs. I do not use any soap only white vinegar and boiled water because I don’t have to rinse and there is no soap build up over time. I buy a gallon of vinegar and only use 1/2 - 1 cup depending on how many rooms. Way less expensive. I would suggest pouring the dirty water down the toilet not the sink, more sanitary. I rinse out the bucket with boiled water and vinegar. Also do your best to not let the pedal get drenched in water. It will rust. I keep the bucket in the box it came in when I put it away to protect it. I have one for upstairs and downstairs and have given them for gifts. People live them. Again I have not touched a mop in years and I am always barefoot. It is worth every penny.
Good morning. I tried this hack yesterday and I must say I love love it. No soap scum on the floors and they look clean. I love walking bare feet in my home. Yesterday, I walked happy on my floors. Thank you I'm not going back. When I try something and it works you have me. You have me . Thank you again.
Glad to have helped! I will say that now that I finally got my floors clean, I do not need the tide pod every time. I just use the mr clean. About every 6 months or so I will toss a pod in with the mr clean. But regular maintenance just needs a little mr clean.
OMG A real mom with a real solution. Thank you so much. I have stopped using my disposable cleaning tools because of the expense. And, I appreciated how your video shots were about your message, not done to show off your manicure and huge engagement ring. O’Cedar should give you a commission!
My question, was mop after doing a section rinsed in another bucket so you aren’t dumping the DIRTY MOP into the solution, then using the dirty mop solution water on your floor? Seems that way with this bucket.
I'm a house cleaner. I absolutely detest swiffer floor cleaner. It leaves floors sticky land loaded with product. It makes more work for me when I'm cleaning my clients houses. If I were you I wouldn't even use the detergent. The Mr Clean is sufficient.
@ Tanya Giacchina Wow! Thanks for that because I haven't that problem with the SWIFFER cleaning fluids. But I use other cleaners with them. Maybe that's why.
I so totally agree with you about residue with Swiffers. Anything left on floors is just wrong. Mr Clean or Ammonia would be enough for deep clean with hot water.
I agree, if I were her I'd have to go over it again with just got wster to rinse all the tide soap off. I just use pinesol, if you want to give it a conditioning wash once in a while the Murphy soap is good for real wood also.
This video is the most helpful because I could see the mop handle rotation and the results, the explanation of the laundry detergent was cost saving and helpful because for the first time in my life journey I have an ill husband that needs more cleaning care than I have ever known. Again, thank you very much.
Great detailed demonstration. I listened to every word and you think like I do about this chore, like almost boiling water. I was never shown by mom or anyone how to do most household chores, so this is a nice one to one demonstration. Thank you
Here I am, almost 70 and I never knew about using hot water ! I was so happy to see this video and I just subscribed ! Looking forward to see your other videos . 👍😉
Love my old Cedar mop and bucket. I have real hardwood and I use very little soap in my water. Dish soap is my go to. I use hot water out of faucet, but I spin my mop 20 foot pumps. I pour my mop water down commode. I love how clean it gets them and no residue left behind.
@@aberghoff2091 ive always done my floor by hand with rags and i used to flush the dirty water down the toilet until one day i poured the water in and a rag was still in there...right down the toilet. very expensive repair bill for that one. now i pour everything down the kitchen sink!
Thank You. The pod & Mr C is so perfect. I have same mop and agree with your having it. Mine came with several mop heads and I bought at Costco. Good, practical advice and method. I will check out your other videos ! THANK YOU
I think this is great for periodic deep-cleaning! It may strip the finish since Tide is so strong. Have you tried Murphy’s Oil Soap? It’s gentle and (in my opinion☺️) smells nice.
I have the new laminate floors. I began using the Cedar foor mop.along with a bit of Dawn! Looks good. The stiffer doesn't cut it. (I'm actually surprised)
Liquid Tide is better as you can use a smaller amount. The pods are way too much so unnecessarily harsh for a small space. Detergents actually attract dirt ionicly which is why they work but leaving extra behind attracts dirt to your floor. A rinse in clear water after will cut down on the residue and is better for your pets, especially if they lick their paws. Also the water doesn't need to be that hot to work.
i make my own liquid solution for my wet jet, i am trying to find a solution for the pads. i have a o cedar blue sponge thingy, thats machine washable, with a good mop bucket with a wringer on it will do the job
I love my O’Cedar spin mop. I got the updated one that keeps the dirty water separate from the clean water, which is awesome. I wanted to add that I use a dishwashing pod and a small amount of powdered tide instead of a laundry pod. I also add a small amount of Meyers clean day peony scented cleaner. If you use too much, there will be a soapy residue, so be careful to use just a little bit!! Luckily, my sink tap water gets just as hot as it would get by heating it on the stove, so I save time by not having to heat my water on the stovetop. Since switching from a regular mop to the O’Cedar mop, my floors have never been cleaner! They dry super fast, leave no residue behind, and are sparkling clean. I wish I had found the spin mop sooner, but I am so glad to have it! Try the powdered tide- I bet you love it! Edit: I dump the dirty water down the toilet. I have 2 dogs and 3 cats, so I wouldn’t feel comfortable having the dirty gross water touching the inside of the sink I put my dishes into!!
I have one too ! And HATE IT !!! You have to fill it up with water for it to work right . And it's so heavy with all that water !!! Heavy and a bad back don't work well together!
Lisa mode I have a spin mop with wheels on the bucket , only time I have to lift anything heavy is to empty it , which I do in the toilet so it's not high to lift.
@@JMac-27 I am sorry! I’m just seeing this! I don’t have any issues at all. When I mop, I mop my whole house so I need to fill it all the way up and I dump it either into the toilet, or into a utility sink in my basement, so I only notice the weight at the very beginning, when it’s just filled and I have to bring it from the sink down to the floor. As far as the dirty water mixing in with the clean water, there is a tab that you can lift or close that allows the clean water to fill up the reservoir where you dunk your mop. You raise the tab to let the clean water in, so you can wet your mop, and then you need to make sure you push it down once the clean water fills up the “well”. Every time. Example: lift the tab to allow the clean water to fill up the reservoir to wet your mop, immediately push the tab down to stop the flow (both of clean into the well, and to stop the dirty water from a dirty mop, from back flowing into the tank of clean unused water). Then dunk your mop several times and continue mopping. Take mop out of reservoir when you need to refill “well” with more clean water. Lift tab and refill, and then immediately push it closed again before dunking your mop. Repeat. Doing this will keep the clean water separate from the dirty water. As long as you keep the “well” closed when you’re dunking your mop, it keeps everything separate. If you leave that tab open the whole time, then the dirty water will absolutely get into the clean water through the holes that the clean water comes out of to fill the clean water reserve. Whew! I didn’t realize this was going to be so difficult to explain, so I hope this makes sense! I have never used the old version, but common sense tells me that with the old version, the clean water has no chance of staying clean, and with the new one, as long as you don’t leave the valve open, there’s no way to contaminate the clean water. Worst case, you leave the valve open, and the clean and dirty water would mix just exactly as it did with the original version? That’s my logic, anyways. I hope that made some sort of sense, and again I apologize for not responding sooner!
I love love love this video!!! When you said that you had been a procrastinator all your life, I can understand, cause that's me... I new this video was for me and it was... The way you tackled that house was amazing. I will be using that system... Thank you for letting us in to your life and house.
I think with the little bit of water left in your mop after your vigorous spinning, it should not damage your floors. You have a very clean and organised house. 👏🏻
Thank you very much. Yes, that is one reason I love this mop. Enough water in the mop to get the surface clean, but not enough water on the floors to do any damage.
I just got the O-Cedar spin mop with the compartment to keep dirty water separate from clean water. I have always hated wringing out a mop with my hands. This is soooo awesome! I love it! ❤️
Please remember to rinse your floors very very well if you have young kids/animals. They often eat off or lick the floors-their food falls on the floor, they lick or put their hands in their mouth after touching or walking on floors, etc. Chemicals used can and will make them very very sick if you’re not careful with making sure all chemicals are rinsed very well. Love that so many people are inspired/motivated & learning. The Internet isn’t all bad, after all! 🥂
New to your channel. Mary here. Amazing because I came up with this on my own. My floors " regular mopping " just wasn't doing the job. So, I also have a mop system like yours. " Love it " I also use the same Mr Clean. However; I put a dish washing pod in my bucket and just use steaming hot sink water. Not only does my house smell good but my floors look beautiful! And so clean. If any washing pod is left I just through it down the disposal to clean that. Thank you for sharing.
I loved seeing the steaming water!! Excellent work! I too love being barefoot and I totally get all your power points and agree. I just moved into my new apt with hardwood and my best friend& I didn't wanna spend the money on a swiffer just yet, but you saved my life and I'm investing in an o cedar mop& bucket!! Thank you dearheart for having the good sense to make this video!! And your home is BEAUTIFUL AND IMPECCABLE and your a clean woman who loves and cares for her home!! Sweet Sister all the best to you and God Bless and keep you!!
Aww. Thank you so much for your kindness! I am so glad this video was able to be of help to you in saving you time, money and aggravation of the swiffer. I definitely recommend this mop bucket. No matter what you choose to use in it, this bucket alone is better than the swiffer, IMO. I appreciate you watching and supporting and leaving a KIND comment! All the best to you. ♥️
I love my O Cedar Spin Mop. And I walk around barefoot at home too. And you really can tell when the floors are clean. They FEEL clean. Such a big difference!
I LOVE the Mop and and foot spin Bucket. I use very hot water on my tile floors but would not on wood floors. I use a simple citrus degreaser. I love the mop and foot spin bucket. I use it for my floors, washing my, car and house windows, walls and baseboards Really helpful for reaching hard to reach areas like across your car roof (tall SUVs) and high windows This mop and bucket are the next best thing since sliced bread. Worth every penny
I think it smells great! I've been doing it for years and never had an issue with too much water destroying my wood. You want to use it- use it. Works great!!! I'm not one to have a smell i don't like to save 5 bucks a month.
This was interesting. I’ve always been told you never put water on hardwood floors… I grew up helping my mom use “ bowling alley” paste wax then she would let my sister and I polish it by running and sliding on it in our old socks😂
@@violetviolet888 The DuraSeal website speaks of using a damp mop, and the other products ' sites warn against excessive liquid, but your point is well taken.
That's what I always did. Paste wax, let dry, then husband's huge knee socks on the Littles and let them slide!!! The neices loved waxing day. It brought my floors to a deep slick shine!!!
@@violetviolet888 I had contractors just install a new stair case and new hardwood upstairs. The amount of soot all over EVERYTHING (including the floors) is just too disgusting to handle and I don't see anyway to get it up without getting the floors wet. Any suggestions?
@@kempkennedy3542 I’ve had hardwood floors for 30 years now, I wet mop twice a week (dogs) but I only use warm/hot tap water. Murphy oil each time. Dust mop daily and once a week I take a good furniture polish and spray lightly and go over it with a dust mop. Has always worked perfectly for real hardwood floors. This “hardwood floors “ that comes in boxes and are snapped together, you can pretty much use whatever on them. I had rather have actual hardwood planks and put in the effort to keep them beautiful.
The O Cedar spin mop is one of the best investments I’ve ever made and would highly recommend it to anyone. I use Murphy Oil soap for mopping and wet dusting every since my youngest son was diagnosed with asthma 35 years ago and his pediatrician recommended it . I’ll have to try adding the Tide pod. Thanks for the tip. Sending love and hugs from Tennessee ❤️🤗
I watched an auto tv show years ago (while folding laundry 😁) and they said to wash your car with Murphy Oil Soap. They said it will make everything come off your car easier the next time you wash the car. It made the "Love bugs" come off easier for sure.
She’s giving bad advice using a tide pod. Talk about residue and stripping your hardwood floor. Plus wet mopping real hardwood will void any warranty your floor has, possible make it warp!
@@Sue25o66 Sure if you leave inches of water sitting on the wood floors for hours, yes it will warp. She uses a spin mop, that is damp to the touch and has her ceiling fans on high. The floors dry very quickly, so no damage done. Been doing it for over 30 years with no damage to my original oak hardwood floors.
The Tide pods and Mr. Clean combination really works-thank you! The floors came out very clean and they smell great. Even better than floor cleaners! They also seem to be staying cleaner longer. And no streaks! 👏
I love your honesty and yeah, this is real life , "don't have a maid" cleaning! I hate cleaning but I have a family and it is necessary to maintain a home or end up on the "hoarders channel". I just watched a woman clean a widowed elderly man's kitchen with 12 years of grease on the floor and stove. It was a little disgusting but what I learned is not to be judgmental and I actually learned a lot about cleaning my own kitchen as my husband is a elderly man who cooks and usually makes a greasy mess without a care about who is going to clean it up. She had some really good ideas about cleaning this obviously extreme mess but it was very informative as your video was, thank you so much for sharing . Knowledge is wonderful, sharing knowledge is priceless!
I have the one shown here, my daughter actually have the one that separates the clean water from the dirty. Either way this system is definitely a time/lifesaver!
I used the Swiffer Mop about twelve years ago, it made my Dog's paws very itchy...so I switched to this way of mopping, but only use a couple of ounces of Mr. Clean, or other cleaner. It made a huge difference, gets everything really clean!! Thanks for doing this video! ❤🐕I have a bad back, and dump the dirty water down the toilet...don't have to lift it up so high!😊
I have laminate floors and hardwood. I was told never use water on laminate. I use a laminate floor cleaner and a mop with washable pads. I've always used water on the hardwood until recently when I found a laminate and hardwood floor cleaner. Now I do the same for both and it works fine for me. FYI, your water didn't look that dirty to me.
Oh my gosh! Unbelievable! I followed your routine exactly and my floors are now super clean. I didn’t know they were dirty using my usual routine. The used water down the sink was brown and dirty, and I had mopped clean floors. You go girl! Thank you!!!!
I’m going to give this a try. I swear it’s going to be buckets of dirty water because the floors aren’t properly cleaned with the other way I was using (swiffer style). Thank for the help! My bare feet will be so happy!
I would suggest not putting all those germs down the kitchen sink. I throw water outside or down the commode. I adopted her routine and oh my goodness what a difference my stone tile floors are! She is brilliant!
2 things, Use a TWO bucket system. One bucket with only clean soapy water. Dip your mop in it, mop your floors then spin clean. Repeat. Second, Pour that nasty water down into tour toilet and flush it. That keeps your sink clean and none of that nasty water splashes up onto your counter. You have a great idea, just need to refine it
I think how you cleaned the floors is great for ceramic tiles or vinyl floor types! I think the floors would be germ free and sanitary for like toddlers crawling and stuff. But don’t use that too much on wood floors, the wood will get stripped and the hot water will Make it happen quicker. Guess how I know lol I did it in my 20/30s! Like you I wanted it clean clean. I usually use murphys oil soap with a little mister clean to disinfect. Then I use one of my old ripped towels I have in a box In closet. And I dry the floor with the towel. It gets up more dirt! But I liked your video! Good luck 💙
I just published another video pertaining to the kitchen cleaning. I put the link to it in the description of this video to make it easy to fond as well! Thanks for the comment!
i’ve been using the ocedar spin mop for years, now i see they have a new system where you always have clean water on one side of the bucket! one tip for you, after you fill you bucket and before you mop your floors, wet and spin your mop and flip it on its side and clean your baseboards
Works great. But the mop head is smaller than the regular one. I have both. One for kitchen and bathrooms. New system. One bucket for the hardwood floors.
I just had lvp floors laid. Love, love, love the spin mop. Never felt so good about my floors being clean. Even after 1 week I have already dust mopped and wet mopped 2 times. Your " recipe " for mop water is absolutely perfect. Thanks for sharing.....👑
Put a couple tbsps of rubbing alcoholl in to your solution. Its a fast drying hack and has worked well for me. You had my full attention until the sink! I tip into the Loo, then pour water from a jug into the bucket and clean it that way. Most times I tip the used water outside, but some people dont have an outdoor area. Everything else you showed was magic.
I have a hurricane spin mop ...it's awesome for a deep clean. I use Mr. Clean plain. As for the wet jet...get an old towel ...trace around the base or use and old pad as a pattern...make 2 pads out of the towel... Reinforce the edges with a zig zag stitch if possible. And now you have reusable machine washable pads for your WetJet. Also another thing that's good to mop a floor with is Dawn dish soap ...a generous squirt and a tablespoon of vinegar and water.
just FYI, soapy water is often grey even when clean, and if you've been using the mop in the water as well, the water will be full of microscopic water bubbles, which also will make water grey. So the water is going to be grey with grey, even if the floors were spotless to begin with. So you really shouldn't feel too bad 😉
Two points...any time you use hot to boiling water, your floors will dry much faster. And the Tide pods are supposed to be used with much more water (think about the size of your washing machine). The colored water that you are dumping into your kitchen sink, is probably mostly soapy water from the excess cleaners that you are using. I would personally dump the dirty water down the toilet. You are wasting money, fill the bucket with hot hot water and add just your Mr. Clean or Dr. Bronner, or whatever works but I think you are using way way to much soap per small bucket of water.
Never use boiling water on your floors! First of all, it will get into the grooves between the boards and will heave! Secondly! It will strip the surface of the wood treatment over time. Jeesh!
Hot water will not work. As soon as you touch the floor the mop will take on the temperature of the floor itself. Take it from a pro. On the second point; when you use microfibre you should use just a tiny drop op cleaning detergent. Microfibre does the cleaning in a mechanical way. The advice used to be to use no detergents but new data suggests that using just a little will improve results.
Couple suggestions...1st...if u don't have a yard...or do but don't want to harm your grass...flush ur dirty water down the toilet! 2nd...use a 2nd bucket for ur concoction as ur "clean" water! Don't rinse your mop in dirty water and put that same dirt back on the floor! The spin mop bucket is for the dirty water. I still add a little of my own concoction in my spin bucket, only a little. So I leave almost no solution or water in my spin bucket. I have my clean water in my 2nd bucket. I wash the floor...dunk it in my good bucket and spin for a better clean head to go back on my floor! My spin buckets basically only for my ewe dirty water. Lmk what you think?
Same suggestions I was going to give. Using a separate bucket for the rinse is a great idea (I had been mopping with the wash water and then going over the floor with rinse water, but your suggestion will save a lot of time). I don't know why ANYONE would dump their mop bucket down the KITCHEN SINK where they cook and prepare meals, but I found that worse than looking at the filthy water. No wonder some scientists have found some folks' kitchen sinks to be nastier than a toilet.
I purchased one years ago and get more mop head refills on Amazon 3 for 20. I love my mop so much! I use Murphys oil on my hardwood floors and they are so clean and well maintained.
I cleaned houses in the 70s as a teen for clothes $, and learned theres simply no substitute for getting dirt up off floors than putting down warm or hot water with enough but not too much detergent, and then getting it ALL back up. I did it on hands n knees with cloth diapers then. In the 80s there were some good spin mops, and then I hit a 15-20 year dirty floor-endless expense/frustration when Swiffers took over the market. They’re useless. They just don’t have the chemistry to really remove lotsa dirt- and theres not much dirtier than floors! I was thrilled when O cedar came out with this. Its the fact u can get all the water back up with a well-spun mop that makes it so good. 😊love it!!!
You have your fan spinning in the wrong direction if you want to feel cooler. Every fan is equipped to spin in two directions, one direction for Summer and the other direction for Winter. Find the switch on your fan and move it to where you feel the breeze from the fan blowing down on you. You're welcome :)
Yup .. in the winter when you don't necessarily want a breeze on you but you do want to stir the air off the ceiling because that's where the heat sits.... You change it from blow to suck and that will still stir the air in the room but not blow a breeze on ya :)
I love that mop. When i worked home health, a client of mines had that mopped and I lov3d mopping thr floor with it....been looking for it in the stores ever since ....never found it.....thanks so much for the link.❤
I absolutely agree, I think this is the best mop I've invested in. Bought several others: old fashioned hand wring, swiffer, push down squishy mop, magic eraser, etc but this is by far my favorite!! Sooo easy & quick. I use the fabulosa with very hot water... works great...P.S. I would never pour dirty mop water down my sink... certainly needs to be sanitized with Bleach Foamer now to kill all those nasty germs! 🤢
@@Bronte-on6tm By the time i finish mopping it's no longer boiling water, with 2 bathrooms, kitchen and dining room, hall and living room. So it's fine to flush down toilet by then. 😊
@@ivorykeys1566 Hey Ivory: I figured. I made the comment for the benefit of people who don't realize that hot water is a big no-no for toilets. I see that my comment was not clear on that point.
sweeping and mopping our home is a great way to keep the house clean and easy work out for us to stay in shape,it also relaxes our mind as we are so focussed on the chore... thanks for the tips:) happy home and healthy body and relaxed mind:)
Very nice video! I bought this spin mop years ago after breaking my wrist and having to have surgery (a plate and screws). This mop works perfect for me!
I love the O’Cedar mop also! With wood I use white vinegar and hot water. Plus I push the pedal about 20-25 times so that it is not real wet when mopping my wood floors I love your idea though of adding something that smells good. I have a cat, so yes pets and children are always going to make a difference. Thanks for your video. I can tell you love your home and like to keep it clean. 💕
i just bought this mop but haven't used it quite yet. I use white vinegar in hot water with a splash of Mrs Meyers all purpose cleaner for scent. It seems to clean great (my mop water is much much darker-haha!) and then i dry swifter it with a spray of endust on it for shine!
Yes, just beware that the vinegar can eventually strip the finish in the wood floor. I used to use it on my own wood floors and after I began my small house cleaning business. Then I did more research and I discovered it can not be so good for the finish.☮️
My 2 yr. old gets a big kick out of pushing the pedal over and over again! She giggles, then I have to laugh. That's an additional perk of the O'Cedar system they don't tell you about on the packaging.
I heard hot water strips the wax and damages the shine the wood has when I had my floors replaced with hardwood so I have been advised to use warm. I do love your hack! Thank you for sharing 🌺
That was a great video. Thanks for sharing those tips. One recommendation for everyone, pour your used mop water into the toilet. First reason, the toilet drain is larger than the sink and it's more sanitary to pour the mop water down the toilet.😊
Very good demonstration I’ve never seen one of those mops before They look really good especially if you have a big area. I would think that the almost boiling water would not be good for beautiful wooden floors in the long run. I would suggest dissolving the wash capsule in a little jug or container of boiling water first and then adding it to warm water in the bucket. I sometimes use my dirty water to wash my outside door step😀
Nice video! You did a great job. I had no idea there were other people on this Earth who were as excited about a mop and a bucket as I am! I am no kind of housekeeper and my floors are really dirty by the time I clean them. I love my Oh Cedar spin mop! I only have a kitchen, entry, and a small bathroom that aren't carpeted. I got mine on Amazon but I don't remember what I paid. I'm sure they're twice as much now but very much worth it . If I had to do over again, I'd pay $100 for this outfit! I even used a brand new mop head and did the sliding glass patio door and the storm door with it! It was very dirty and and it at least gave me a start start before I used paper towels and spray on it. It was wonderful! I'm so glad to know that I'm not the only one that thinks this mop and bucket are pretty wonderful!
Thanks for watching and the kind comment! Another person commented and said that they have a separate mop head and they use it to wash the vehicles! I thought that was so smart! I love that this mop is so versatile!
That's good. Now that you have cleaned away all the dirt and grime from the floors, let completely dry and then go over the entire floor again but this time use "Quick Shine" for hardwood floor in some water and you see your floors POP with shine when you're done!!
Ill have to try this. I was planing to get the o-cedar mop bucket. I've been using a rag mop with a ringer bucket. Usually the water is black, although the floor looked clean. I tried the swifter wood jet. The pads on the would pickup tons of dirt even after the wet rag mopping. I have a lot of coated hardwood floors. That o-cedar mop looks a lot lighter and easier to use than a big rag mop.
The O’Cedar mop is the best! If you have access to Sam’s or Costco, buy it there. I think mine came with 4-5 extra mop heads. I still have 1-2 heads I have not used yet.
I have been using this method for over 15 years. We bought our house in 2006. I had over 900 square ft of hardwood floors to clean. Back then the steam mop was very popular, after using it several times it stop working properly. I thought why not just boil water and just get a bucket... and that's when I discovered using boiling hot water with a "bucket method". I purchased heat resistant gloves from Home Depot and also used the steaming hot water to sanitize my granite countertops, stove and entire kitchen. Btw, I don't use any product on my floors to avoid buildup. Great😊 video.
Another great use for Tide is carpet cleaning! If you've ever moved into a new apartment then you know that feeling of being a little grossed out at the thought of someone else walking barefoot in your space. Even if they shampoo the carpet it never seems fresh and new. Rent a commercial grade steam cleaner from the grocery store or if you're lucky enough to own a decent one, switch out the carpet cleaner for either the Oxi Tide, the bleach alternative Tide, or one of the one made for sportswear. It cleans your rug SO WELL! And the leftover scent in your home makes everything smell amazing! If Tide can clean human body odors and stains out of clothing it can clean them out of rugs. 😊
Great video and the comments were just as helpful! One video with comments and it’s a game changer! THANKS SO MUCH. That you attracted such a knowledgeable audience (many cleaning pros, etc.), yet kept it real & Demonstrated ALONG with thorough instructions&details plus applied them for all to see is SO HELPFUL & easier to convince/relay your message. KUDOS TO U & happy day❣️
*@Colleen Kennedy...not trying to be mean or contentious here...but after being diagnosed with breast cancer I researched EVERYTHING I was allowing into my home. Discovered BONA is loaded with carcinogenic chemicals. I also found EWG - Environmental Working Group - a non-profit that evaluates household and consumer products and cosmetics. Really opened my eyes 👀 as to how I was poisoning myself with products in my household that were entering my body through my skin.😳🤯😤😡*
Be careful using Bona. I had someone come in and do a deep clean on my floors because the shine on my hardwood floors started looking separated? The bona had started separating on my floor especially in high traffic areas. My floors looked great after they did a scrub on them. The floor man said putting bona on your floors is like putting acrylic fingernail on your floor. After time they start wearing down like your nails. I still use the bona cleaner but not the wax. I have to say they looked when I got through with them but the bona wax messed them up. Since he scrubbed the bona off my floors look great again so now I am cautious on what I put on them.
If you wash good off of dishes in a sink, that is not different. I do all sorts of things in my sink, then I clean it. That’s how cleaning works.
Paul Miner you’re all right!
Yah, no to kitchen sink dumps.
Sorry this was so long🎉
vinegar is a great cleaning solution, but should never be used on real wood floors
@rocky6055 why not use Vinegar on real wood floors?

I pour the dirty water on a ugly tree in my backyard that I didn’t care at all for and the tree blossomed and is now so beautiful giving me dozens of avocados 😂
I've been a house cleaner for 20 years. I always use Dawn dish soap for washing floors because it breaks up all grease and dirt and it's much safer for kids and pets.
Agreed. Plus detergent tends to make floors slippery. My parent could fall.
Please google "Does Dawn Dish washing liquid have bad chemicals in it? " and see what you find. I quit using it in my home where grandchildren and my animals are plus do not want in in my country water system or on my hands.
@@bethdavis7812 what do you use instead?
@@bellatronm5875 I have always used vinegar and water on most of my floors and when soap was needed because of extra activity in bad weather I use ivory soap which I grate into a quart of hot water, mix in with whisk before adding to mop bucket and adding more water. Also, ivory flakes work fine. I pour my mop water outside or down the commode, never down a kitchen sink. Also, we always take our shoes off at the door. This has worked great for the floors always looking like new and our allergies.

Young lady, your floor was not that dirty! I've cleaned houses where I got water that was dark brown and almost black! I suggest pouring the water down the toilet.
Yes, the real disgusting thing is that she’s pouring the mop water in the kitchen sink
A discovery… Christine Columbus 🤣
I would like to thank her for sharing her cleaning hack with us 😊
Your home is very clean my dear! Those floors were slightly dirty. I thought the mop water would be darker! Thank you for sharing. When I was your age and didn’t have so many health problems I kept my home just as clean. How I miss being able to do my own cleaning! Maybe if I do just a little every day I can clean again.
@@Homemade_with_love Squeeze a Lemon in and the vinegar disappears 👌
You are doing an AMAZING job!

@@denisea.9033 Parents should teach their children life skills. One of the funniest jokes I know is a college kid who brought his laundry home. He asked his mom why when she washed his clothes they came out so much cleaner. She asked him what kind of detergent he was using. His response? "Detergent???"
I had a serious issue with a girl staying with me at one time.
I have never heard of that brand/product before.
amazing science, you are saying that it cured your bad house keeping or your bad back ?
I have arthritis and fibromyalgia and carpal tunnel and this mop is amazing I hope it helps you as well
I love Simple Green or Clean, always forget name, in Lemon to mop, I make a spray to use on my bathroom and kitchen hard surface.
I have always used the Murphy’s oil, my hardwood floors are over 30 yrs old and they still look beautiful.
Question any advice for dental office hardwood floors?
Engineered hard wood floors too?
Don't understand people who clean with vinegar. Wouldn't the entire house smell like vinegar?
@@soupnfresh The odor dissipates quickly. Vinegar absolutely does wonders for hardwood floors.
If you add a little rubbing alcohol to your solution..not much, maybe 2 tablespoons, your floor will dry so fast and it will not damage your wood. I've been doing it for 10 years. Great video!
Thanks for the tip!
It used more water, but…
I also only take showers, no baths, because I don’t want to sit in my own dirt (kind of the same concept, I think).
@@bernadett.reina. thank you!
Alcohol will take paint and varnish of of wood and tables and floors . I would never use alcohol to dry floors, just turn on a fan.
You’re a blessing to your family!! I think cleaning is a lost art. You’re very cost conscience too. Thank you for this video.

I was thinking I should mop too. Lol. This is my second time watching this! I wish this sweet momma, Homemade with Love, would come mop for me!!
I was thinking the water wasn’t really dirty either lol I wouldn’t have been embarrassed. To the video lady, don’t be embarrassed
Thanks! You should have seen it the first time I mopped using this method. Getting all the gunk built up from before only using the swiffer…it’s much better now that I have switched to doing it this way.

Excellent comment, Dahlia. Thanks for sharing.
Your home sounds beautiful! 😍
depends entirely on the seal used on the hardwood. definitely wouldn't recommend this treatment on anything that could be degraded by strong detergent, but your average water based seal should be fine
When you wash the walls with the Spin Mop. does the water run down your arms?
They have a new one that has separate parts for the clean and dirty it’s great I use cleaning vinegar healthy for all
I have always used either dettol ( I am in the UK) or washing up liquid but a good brand like Fairy
Any tips ?

I would be reluctant to use laundry detergent on hardwood floors, or to mix two different cleaning products together. And best of all, it's safe for all wood surfaces and no rinsing needed! But you did just convince me to get the O'Cedar mop and bucket, so now I'm off to Amazon! xoxo

Thank you! I can only imagine the things y’all have probably seen…😬
+ it attracts dirt & gets tacky quickly. )
- The First Mop is to put your hot water and cleaner ONTO the floor. > Go over floor
> Tip out > Rinse mop > fresh hot water >
- The Second Mop is your Wash Cycle ! This loosens & removes the dirt
> Tip & Rinse > Start again with a freshly cleaned mop
# Depending on how grubby your floor is - how large & how dirty the water is
becoming; you might need to do the 'Wash Cycle twice
- The Third Mop is your Rinse Cycle - this is to remove any soap & residual dirt.
Grandma knows best! ❤️
Get the newer spin mop with the blue bucket insert and you will always have clean water and only one bucket.
All right then !! That's just to logical dirty water dirty floor 🙏🏼

I didn’t know I could use Murphys on my floor. I use it on my kitchen cabinets.
A little bit of Murphys oil and vinegar works wonders for my hardwood floors.

@ Tanya Giacchina
Wow!
Thanks for sharing!!
I'd have to agree. Vinegar works just as great. Just open the windows.
Thank you
I wasn't either. I think my Mom is a perfectionist who doesn't like people around her while she's cleaning, lol!
@@Rebecca-hc5ju I think my Mum was a perfectionist/martyr too. I learned about housework methods from friends…
Thanks - great video & appreciated the comments too!
Also, the laundry detergent is designed to release the dirt from the fabric mop to stay in the water. So the floor iss so much more clean.
Your a down to earth person. I like you. I'm also making meatloaf today. Haha Thanks for your tips!
I used to contaminate my kitchen sink with dirty mop water- rookie mistake! Dispose down the toilet or down utility drain.
I also use a bit of Dawn dishwashing liquid soap and white vinegar, i have 4 old Chihuahuas. I love this bucket and mop, dirty water to the toilet.
@@aberghoff2091 ive always done my floor by hand with rags and i used to flush the dirty water down the toilet until one day i poured the water in and a rag was still in there...right down the toilet. very expensive repair bill for that one. now i pour everything down the kitchen sink!
Very little pine soil in hot water. Love my spin mop and bucket. Best invention ever.
The water is too hot for regular cleaning. It will strip the floors eventually.
Murphy oil doesn’t work for me 😢 but I don’t think boiling hot water or fabuloso is safe for hard wood
I heard the clean water leaks out into the dirty water and the pad doesn't work as well as the old version. Have u had any issues
Just bought an OCedar mop that I like but didn’t know how to use. Thanks for the explanation! Much appreciated!! I think I am going to love using it.
The only thing I worry about is my Dog and the chemicals that are in those cleaners
@@thresalarson398 I use thieves cleaner and this o cedar mop and our 3 dogs have never had a problem. It smells so nice too.

Love not having to squeeze the mop by hand! Have spent big bucks on the industrial buckets in the past. If you have the storage they are worth it. 👍
Why would you wring it out with your hands? Why not use the spinner to wring out the water?
@@CinHalCedHerChance Because not everyone has a "Spinner"
I use gloves to wring out the mop with my hands, Old School Way. Lol
Aw, builds up their immune system! 😂
Dirt and germs yes, chemicals, no.
Great Idea. I might give that a try! Thank you!
I was told by installers to use only vinegar and very little water on hard wood floors. But i love that mop and spin bucket for non wood floors.
The mop head would probably get very dirty & wear out faster if used outside.

I WAS GOING TO SUGGEST MURPHY OIL SOAP ASWELL. ALWAYS GREAT ON ANY WOOD.
You may need to use the fragrance free tide pod and I don’t know about the floor cleaner odor with your son’s allergies. 🤧
Glad it helped!!
Aww thank you so y much for your sweet words! You have encouraged me greatly! Thank you for watching!
I just watched that video as well! Wow! It had10 or 12 years of grease on it! Yuck!
I love the newer O’cedar spin mop that separates the clean water from the dirty water. It has 2 compartments in 1 bucket. It’s genius
I haven’t seen that one yet!! The only one my stores here have on the shelves is this one I have. Hmmm thanks. I will have to look for it.
I've got a similar one in Scotland and love that it keeps the dirty water separate.
I’ve got that one too - it would make pouring almost boiling water in it more challenges. 😬
I have the one shown here, my daughter actually have the one that separates the clean water from the dirty. Either way this system is definitely a time/lifesaver!
I just bought one with the rinse water haven’t used it yet. I hope it works good.
Glad I could help you! Thank you for the kind words!
Was wondering about this mop. You helped me decide, thank you. So refreshing to see a young woman who actually knows how to clean these days
You have a great idea, just need to refine it
SOLD! I clean million dollar cabins, and this will definitly be much simpler. Thank you for sharing!! 🌻
I think how you cleaned the floors is great for ceramic tiles or vinyl floor types! I think the floors would be germ free and sanitary for like toddlers crawling and stuff. But don’t use that too much on wood floors, the wood will get stripped and the hot water will
Make it happen quicker. Guess how I know lol I did it in my 20/30s! Like you I wanted it clean clean. I usually use murphys oil soap with a little mister clean to disinfect. Then I use one of my old ripped towels I have in a box

I bought one at Sam’s with 3 extra mop heads for about $32/&34. It was on sale. Really liking it.
Theresa, she said she can't pour the water into the toilet due to plumbing issues.
Thank you. I have been looking at ads for this mop and bucket but couldnt imagine how it worked. Now I know I definitely want it.
just FYI, soapy water is often grey even when clean, and if you've been using the mop in the water as well, the water will be full of microscopic water bubbles, which also will make water grey.
Not to mention that using Tide on your floor can't be a good thing, plus the microplastics from the pod.
Too much detergents.
Also if that is glued down wood, it will loosen up the glue.
Your house is very nice; so clean and orderly! Can’t wait to try this. Thanks!
Thank you so much!
😊love it!!!
Pour it in your toilet. Then flush and rinse your bucket outside. Or in a laundry sink. Actually, Cascade pods are even better, and cheaper.
Rinsing it in the kitchen Sink would be a big no-no for me
That's what I do dirty floor water down the toilet for me....

Yup .. in the winter when you don't necessarily want a breeze on you but you do want to stir the air off the ceiling because that's where the heat sits.... You change it from blow to suck and that will still stir the air in the room but not blow a breeze on ya :)

Vinegar kills wood floors…
Yes, just beware that the vinegar can eventually strip the finish in the wood floor. I used to use it on my own wood floors and after I began my small house cleaning business. Then I did more research and I discovered it can not be so good for the finish.☮️
@@kellyanderson6223 Is it OK for vinyl?
My 2 yr. old gets a big kick out of pushing the pedal over and over again!

I like your idea of heat resistant gloves - never heard of them!
How much do you add of the tide vs water ?
One tide pod per gallon of hot water
Great video and the comments were just as helpful! One video with comments and it’s a game changer! THANKS SO MUCH. That you attracted such a knowledgeable audience (many cleaning pros, etc.), yet kept it real & Demonstrated ALONG with thorough instructions&details plus applied them for all to see is SO HELPFUL & easier to convince/relay your message. KUDOS TO U & happy day❣️
Baking soda water works great
I use bona for my hardwood floors works great and floors still look like they did when I had them refinished 10 yrs ago.
I never used vpnsa
I never used bona wax only floor cleaner
