That scale is pretty tame. When I lived in Essex years ago shower heads, hot tap outlets, steam irons and kettles were all regularly furred up. And very quickly. I used a yellow liquid from Mangers. Brilliant in kettles, the scale dissolved before your eyes, simply pour in required amount immediately after boiling kettle. I used to dunk the shower head in the kettle at the same time. I guess I was being a tight git 😊😊

@@missygaddu hi, my apologies, showing my age a bit, mangers is no more, the equivalent is Kilrock-K (the original) it says on the bottle. Its a yellow bottle.
      Its very good.
Also removes the crystals around urinals from splashes on the floor, plus rust stains from tarmac. Try it, most DIY stores.

i have been useing this for decades but you do noot need the backing soda just the vinegar.
but there is a saftey warning booiling vinegar the fumes are acidic acid and it is in very hight concontrations it can burn mouth through lungs eyes this is no joke but it is only the fumes use can even use boiled vinegar on your chips if you want it is the fumes.
only do this in a very very well ventalated room and leave the room untill stoped boiling or better still do it outside.
look up fumes from boiling vinegar

Thanks. I followed your instructions and it worked. Do you have an opinion as to the need for the filter in the spout of an electric kettle? Mine has lost its mesh and I have been unable to find a replacement filter. Is it really necessary?

people who live in areas, where the drinking water is " soft " is a bit acidic, makes their teeth etc funerable, acid dissolves lime.
but if you use " soft water " in your washing machines, showers, and washing windows etc, they are spotless.
when we wash are hands in the wash hand basin, with hand soap, it produces " soap scum " which ends up blocking the trap and waste pipes, same applies to showers, you more than likely, know all about this, l have been a plumber since 1972, so l could not aviod it
