And so it begins....Inherited my stepmom's '93 truck with 118,000 miles on it two days ago, and one of the first things I noticed was lack of clock - even on the radio! Second thing was the slipping clutch - I can replace that, but first the easy stuff - find and install a clock! So time to cruise the junkyard tomorrow after getting the tires re-balanced - thanks for the info about the install!
After checking what seemed like a couple of dozen 4Runner's in wrecking yards, finally found one with a clock in a recent arrival! Warning - if you get one from a Toyota Surf (4Runner in North America!), the mounting tabs will be reversed because of the RHD!! I managed to cut them off and reattach with hot glue, so it will work for me - but extra work to install.
Outstanding video. Thank you you saved me a lot of grief and the possibility of damaging any dash components when installing a new stereo and a digital clock into my 91 Toyota 4X4b truck.
Your vids are awesome! I started driving at 16 with a 2nd gen 4runner, and now reliving my youth in my little truck and doing the mods you showed. Thank you thank you!
Thank you -- so I have a 1994 pickup which looks like yours -- so do you think there is also an electrical hookup, a blue "faux plug" behind my dash too? I kind of want to know before I try to pull it apart!
Great videos!! With your video help I visited a local junkyard to swap out the rear view mirror and dome light from a 4Runner - sweet upgrade. Improved the sound and cut down the rattling dramatically by installing 4Runner speaker boxes. Replaced my original '93 pickup crazed 3 instrument cluster with a clear 4Runner cluster that displays oil pressure (thanks to your video) and a tachometer (adjusted potentiometer and added a wire as you instructed). Of all things the clock has been the biggest pain. Three junkyard clocks later - none worked - I removed the springs and soldered the leads as per the Toyo forum. The clock's four plug has power on the bottom left plug and yet I cannot get any of the three clocks to work. Would you recommend buying a working (tested) clock from an online site or after three clock failures do you think it could be the truck wiring. I'm sure it's not a fuse because the dome lights work and the bottom left plug shows over 12volts. Lastly, the new fuel gauge appears to read a tad high - is there an adjustment for that? Thanks again for your video instruction - you have helped me upgrade my POS from a rattling bucket to a semi tricked out quiet truck I enjoy driving. Thank you.
S K So awesome to hear, I feel the same way. The small mods made it more enjoyable/functional and worth driving everyday! I can't believe 3 clocks all don't function. It just doesn't seem possible. I've gotten over 20 clocks for the 88-91 Civic/crx over the last 10 years and all of them have always worked. Is there just 2 wires going into the clock, I cannot remember? Try running a cable from them to the battery directly. Maybe it'll power the clock on just to test if it's working. You might have a wire disconnected/shorted out that lead to the clock.
S K As for the fuel gauge, I do not know of any adjustment. You may be able to pry the needle straight up off the cluster, then reinsert it into the right position. It works like that on the 88-91 Civic clusters.
Cool video Jon! I'm getting ready to upgrade my father in laws stock stereo in his 92 Toyota pick up. Disassembly of the dash looks easy enough. I just might hook him up with a clock too. Thanks for sharing man :)
Nice video! I have a 1990 base model; 22r with a 4 speed manual. Do all of the trucks come pre-wired? even the base models? Do you know the exact screw size for the clock?
+J Wid Films Neither of mine did. Nor did they have power steering. If we had had the internet the way it is today I would have had everything you get factory, including turbo. Lol
hello there good sir I was wondering if you knew if a massive air flow sensor will fit on a 93 Toyota from a 4Runner been having difficulty with the part is there a way to convert it
That part is affordable and NO, NEVER convert anything except lights. You are not an electrical or mechanical engineer and can hurt or even kill yourself.
Dude, use plastic pry bars made for the plastics of the vehicle. Take care of what you have unless you have or qualify for a $35,000 loan for new vehicle.

Thank you for this great video. Used this to put in my clock as well as a radio, finally! Thanks again.
👍

Sorry no. I sold this truck over 4 years ago and don't work on them ever.
hello there good sir my husband likes your videos a lot you're very helpful thank you for the video
Estela Vargas Glad to hear and thanks for watching!!

Very cool, he'll love it!! Thanks for watching George!
Nicely done video... to the point and great visuals! 👍🏽
It must have a fuse to turn it on ???
There's probably an auxiliary fuse which powers the clock and radio. Most cars have this and it's already incorporated into the wiring.
Do you think you could have just cut the panel out and then install the clock?
I don't see why not
To change the radio, do i have to remove the dash aswell?
Just the pieces shown here generally to get to it.
@@GarageBuiltHondas i was afraid of that, but what can you do. Cheers man🍻
Good luck!
Nice video! I have a 1990 base model; 22r with a 4 speed manual. Do all of the trucks come pre-wired? even the base models? Do you know the exact screw size for the clock?
Sorry, I do not know. this was the only one I had ever worked on and I sold it in January 2018.
No, sorry.
@@GarageBuiltHondas no problem. Thank you for the replies.
Is your top dash a hard plastic dash or is it vinyl ?
I believe it was vinyl. I sold the truck over 6 years ago, can't remember that well.
I’m trying to install one on a 88 Toyota pickup where’s the harness or do I have to install one for the clock ?
This particular one is for 89-95 only. I don't know about the 88 and below years.
How do I plug it in?
The plug is there already.
what year it was 4runner that youbtake it off?
Same as these trucks.
does anyone know if the 1984-88 trucks/4runners are pre-wired like this as well?? it would be nice option to upgrade to a clock in my 1986, Thanks
I'm unsure.
My clock stopped working after I replaced the stock stereo, I see you don't have the stock one and your clock is working, any ideas why?
Maybe a wire is broken and needs fixing. I don't really know for sure.
Garage Built Hondas thanks for the reply, idiot me blew the cigarette lighter fuse, just replaced it and started working again!
Lol,nice!
hey mate how did you put the cup holder in
It was factory installed.
I had an '87 and '91. Always wondered wth that blank square was for. Does your truck have A/C? Hard to install?
Mine has AC, came with it from the factory and blows super cold to this day 20 years into ownership of the truck!! *knock on wood*
+J Wid Films Neither of mine did. Nor did they have power steering. If we had had the internet the way it is today I would have had everything you get factory, including turbo. Lol
What year truck is that?
94
Do you have to take the whole dash out to get to the stock amp and the stock stereo
You'll need to remove all the lower pieces. It's not difficult. There isn't any other way to get to the stereo.
Does anyone know what's the light next to the left blinker is. It come on once didn't see what it is .
I don't have a clue. I sold the truck last January.
Que tal, donde compraste el reloj, yo necesito uno para toyota 1992
depósito de chatarra (junkyard)
I need help installing a new stereo in a 1990 Toyota 4 runner can you help me out?
I did a gauge cluster swap and I remove all the parts to get to the radio in this video here. ruclips.net/video/jDXzq-hYJ9Y/видео.html
Dam so that plug is just chilling there with nothing connected to it?
Yup, pretty cool right!
Nice picked out a clock from a junk yard for like $5
Does anyone know where I can buy this clock??
Try eBay, if not a junkyard is your best bet.
hello there good sir I was wondering if you knew if a massive air flow sensor will fit on a 93 Toyota from a 4Runner been having difficulty with the part is there a way to convert it
Unfortunately I have no idea, sorry!
That part is affordable and NO, NEVER convert anything except lights. You are not an electrical or mechanical engineer and can hurt or even kill yourself.
Where did you get the dash mat from?
No idea. It's been on there for years long before I got the truck.
You can get them online
How much did you pay for your clock? Mine doesn't keep correct time anymore and the replacement ones I've found online are outrageously expensive.
andreboy1 Cheap, like $5 at the junkyard. That's probably your least expensive option.
andreboy1 junkyards a dollar or two
what size are the rear speakers in the back?
6.75" if I remember correctly
+J Wid Films what size where the rear speakers in the 4runner is what I ment
Misael Hernandez Sorry I'm late to the party but they're 4.25 inches
+gokartbuyer nice, thanks for the input!!
What year is the 4Runner you're getting these mods from?
89-95. Same exact years as these trucks.
Great Toyota Videos!
Thanks Paul!
Very good job and very creative! AAA+++
I appreciate it!
Sick vato!!
Thank you!
Hey man where do you source your parts from? I can never find parts in that condition
These were all from junkyards locally.
Thanks!
No reason to pull apart dash just follow the last step
Good luck
