If the pickguard fitment is an issue for someone they can detach all the EMG stuff from the included pickguard and transfer to their original one. Might help some guys with various year guitars or foreign makes.
wait, do ppl rly bash EMG pickups?!?! I play hard rock and hardcore and everyone i know loves them! i have these pickups for studio stuff and they are great
I have a DG20 and an SL20 set. Both are phenomenal. My Gibson SG is my go-to guitar, but only because of the weight and my bad back. And like you, I put them in Squier guitars. A Classic Vibe in black for the DG, and a red one for the SL.
I was gifted one of the cheapest 2010 Squires (Strat-pack) you can buy from my brother who got it for himself but then didn’t get time to learn to play (he went for keyboard instead)….it was unplayable when I got it, but I cleaned & treated the maple neck, then had the frets levelled by a luthier who also made & fitted a bone nut, then I put in the DG20 & upgraded the tuners & saddles myself….it plays & sounds amazing now, looks so cool with a black body & pickguard…I’ve clearly spent a fair bit of time & money, but much less than a new MIM player & this thing is now in a different league! Don’t recall having to drill out, though I do remember a couple of the pickguard screws didn’t line up but that was no biggie…and yes, it’s quiet as a mouse with lovely tones (my LP studio is a noisy beast, though I did put SD Slash pups in it after similar TLC)…it just shows, you can turn a cheap guitar into a diamond with a bit of care, so go for it!
I love the modifications! I also got this guitar for Christmas and I haven't put it down and I own a lot of guitars. Definitely becoming a favorite and most likely not going to make any modifications on it. Set up was perfect right out of the box. Also I enjoyed your song a lot and will check it out on Spotify.
I put a MojoTone loaded pickguard on a Bullet Strat hardtail. I had the same fitment issue with the scratch plate and the hardtail bridge. Apparently that hardtail bridge is wider than a tremolo bridge. I ground the plastic on the scratch plate at each end of the bridge until it fit.
Cool! I got the same exclusive site Squier, been loving it. Almost considered this set but that seems like a but much work for me. Looks like I'm gonna go with a Seymour Duncan set
Bit too late, but you can just poke something through the little holes in the EMG connectors, pop the wires out easily, feed the wires through and reverse the process to refit the connector, no drilling required.
would it not be easier for you to carve out a cavity underneath and cover it with a black plastic cover fitted with s couple of short screws for that battery? Then you would not have to actually take of the pickguard every time the battery dies... doesn't seem convenient to have it where you left it to be honest :\ I guess that pickguard is for Fender Strat, and that your guitar is not a Fender ? I would cut that plate flush, would have made me crazy to just leave it like that to be honest :) Hmm you said Squier, weird how it did not fit, but then again I had to drill holes for my Squier Affinity Headstock to fit Fender tuners so I guess they just do that on purpose! The Fender Strat neck fit right in though
@@maxaeonmusic That depends, If you play as much as me that can sit for 8-12 hours a day for a week straight before taking a break then that battery wont last long 😛 I woulda shizzled a cavity in the back but that's me! I swapped my Fender Strat MiM neck into a Fender American Pro II scalloped neck in rosewood and put the MiM neck on my Squier affinity telecaster, swapped from 250K pots to 500K pots in the Fender, and going to do the same for the Tellie too. And ofc swapped all pickups on the Fender, and swapped the bridge pickup on the Squier, and ofc locking tuners :P Thinking of using the Tellie neck on a cheap guitar or just keep it in reserve! I do have to drill new wholes in the tellie neck to make it fit that other cheap guitar I have that I've already given Fender single coil pickups because why not :P
Funny, I bought all my pickups and upgrades with my own money hehe 😀 What is that plate attacked to the pots? That looks like a plug and play system for when you want to change pickups to something that comes with connectors like that. Man the upgrades I've done has cost me a fortune though not gonna lie..
@@maxaeonmusic Yeah those big channels do get sponsored a lot of free stuff for sure, would probably put them in a bad spot if they started telling their personal opinions about the stuff they get for free i guess :P
Did anyone else not have any space inside the cavity of the guitar to put the battery? I ended up having to put the battery in the back of the guitar under the bridge plate (?).

People absolutely bash EMG’s like mad but you really can’t fault them. Great clear modern sounds and no hassle.
I'm really digging these, and they are perfect for my application. I can get a variety of tones that fit multiple styles.

Looks and sounds great! You could put a battery holder where the hole is!
Great video from electrics to a song. Bravo
Thank you. I'm loving this pickup set.
Thanks to the heads up! Great video

It such a cool guitar out of the box. Glad you are enjoying your and glad you liked the song. Thanks.

I figure I'll sand it down with a Dremel eventually.
Great job!!
Thank you!
Not sure if it was the DG20 or the new 'tone hole' 😉in the wood but it sounded great! Thanks for sharing.
Gotta be the 'tone hole,' lol. Really liking the DG20s.
i bought both the david gilmore and the steve lukather set up. ended up sticking with the lukather set up. the gilmore had no tone control.
I still grab for the tone knob and am quickly reminded it's not "tone" lol
LOVELY SONG
Thank you!

Can't go wrong with Duncan! Enjoy!

I thought about that, but I was worried I'd mess it up lol

Honestly, it's not that big of a deal. Don't have to change the battery that often.

You just made a 1% thinline stratocaster! 😄
If they are good enough for David Gilmour, they’re good enough for me.
Black pickguards should be the only color for bright colored guitars.
Agreed!
LOL remind me to never let you work on any of my guitars.😂😂😂
I don't blame you lol

lol it cracks me up when people don't have any mechanical skills. Don't worry man I suck at social media shit so everyone has their thing
Thanks for watching!
You can hardly notice that hole, from the front. 😅
Hardly lol. Doesn't bother me at all anymore, but felt pretty boneheaded at the time.
Don't sweat the hole in the back.....no one will ever see it anyway.
Right. I was really upset with myself when I did it. But doesn't even bother me now. Makes this one mine lol. Thanks for watching.
@maxaeonmusic
Dazzle them with your playing and no one will care!
@@maxaeonmusicI understand your pain. I get mad at myself for similar things. On the bright side, you learned and the guitar is only $200
Wow, sounds terrible man,,,,,,
lol, thanks for watching
@@maxaeonmusic sorry I didnt mean to sound rude.. its probably just your recording setup or RUclips!
