When I was in machinist school we had to write all our codes on a lined form, manually input the codes, and then proof the program. It's one of the reasons I never worked in a CNC shop. Today I would probably enjoy programming

    Congrats Katie.
I have a brand new CNC mill (a Syil X7-20, similar size to a Tormach 1100) being delivered at the end of September. I’ve started doing all the Academy drawings in Fusion360 so I’m ready to start making chips as soon as the mill arrives.
Even though I don’t have access to a cnc Lathe (I have a manual lathe) I’m still going to do all of the academy drawings, to help me improve with CAD.
I’m 52, and not from a machining background, but love my hobby shop machining.

The program you need to work with can take months to learn. Very different than what you usually find like photoshop and so on. Some people use Corel but you can't do that with Biesse, comes with a variant from Autocad and a different program, they both work together. But it's a fascinating job to have

    So I have 3 questions:
    1. What type of math is used in CNC Programmer? I mean I hear it's like a CNC Machinist, but I'm really bad at math, but it seems like a cool career.
    2. Is it a repetitive career? Because i like repititiveness and not change.
    3. Will robots 🤖 take over this career? Just wondering?

Everybody just wants to see a damn wreck, used to be like that at the drag races that would piss my dad off like nothing else he was old fashioned in his old fashioned way things like green race cars you don't compete if there's any green cars or if they're selling peanuts.
Comes from the old days of board track racing a driver would be lucky to last 6 months.
Bonneville one year a streamliner crashed right behind us as we were pushing back we stopped to watch this car going almost 400 mph all of a sudden it lifted it up a few feet in the air all the sheet metal came off and the car hit the ground and broke apart immediately my dad abandoned our race car we rushed fast as we could to the scene of the accident we got all the pieces we could find before anybody got there one engine was buried in the salt the other we got it in the back of our truck we picked up every last piece we could it was really important to him that there was nothing for the bloodlusters to see they arrived at the scene as the people were coming closer and closer we reverently left the scene and parked our truck in their pit as we were walking away we realized there was no driver no blood nothing no cockpit no instruments absolutely nothing to say there was a man there mostly all the pieces of chassis tubing and wadded up sheet metal pieces of the tires and one of two engines that's it.
A man lost his life they never did find any parts of him that was common back in the day everybody was using oxygen.
I just cannot handle people who just want to see a wreck people's hopes and dreams dashed people crying people injured people dying people failing.
How about see somebody do something cool to succeed to win to achieve to surpass all others this is not a supremacy thing it's a success thing
Things like supremacyThat's the mentality of the losers people who will never go anywhere or do anything of note or good report.
Do you know what the word couth means how about malcontent, what is a mug wump.
Do you know what the word liberal actually means it's someone who believes in free enterprise it's someone who believes in individual civil liberties and the democratic process.
None of these are traits that you would attach to a Democrat.
What does conservative mean it means to conserve to not waste to be fiscally responsible to believe in traditional values and ideas believes in freedom God and religion believes in owning property free enterprise limited government the rule of law lifting others up around you as opposed to harming them or attacking them or lying to them or cheating them
Often people wish to throw that word fascism or Nazi at people from the right it is not from the right is only from the left think about it look the words up. The thing to remember no matter what the explanation is even the modern media absolutely clueless talk straight out their ass like it's a fact unbelievable words like totalitarian martial law dictator communist socialist nationalist racist sexist elitist all these words are things that you can attach to the left not to the right I don't care how much they beat that right-wing drum it's just not true it's strictly of the left they say fascists and Nazis hate communist not necessarily but conservatives don't like any of those three.
I don't care what people say that's how you know for a fact they are trying to change the language they are trying to trick you in making a very big judgment error don't listen to the words forget what they say watch their actions that will show you they're real feelings. Many people say that conservatives and Republicans think that it's a good thing that some people don't measure up or are smart as or wealthy as they are this is the most absurd thing I've ever heard all we can assure anyone of is to have an equal opportunity there are no equal outcomes you cannot force anything that comes only from the left look at Joe Biden demanding ordering even mandating.
The feel that they're smarter than everybody else they must order society and be put in charge of every aspect of society so they can guarantee the outcomes and everybody will be equal and it will be fair. that's not how life works people on the right especially conservatives if you would I'm not very fond of Republicans I think they're one step above a snake next to a Democrat a conservative would love to see everyone to be successful everyone have nice things everyone to be as intelligent as they wished to be where Democrats want to force everyone to be a certain way this is communism they change the words so you don't realize what you're agreeing to they're using emotions like envy and jealousy to get you to want to attack your neighbor these are not conservative ideas they're also a sin now there's something that would anger a fascist is religion people of the left are secular, people of the right are not got to get your directions straight and the words correct.
People who want to see failure a crash the blood the gore because you weren't smart enough to listen to them and do what you were told these are ideas of the left not of the right it's amazing how some things are true all the time.

I can see the value of these building blocks tutorials and I've actually done my version of them using my tormach 770 hobby mill but, I'd like to see some slightly more advanced hobby oriented tutorials. Example: My CAD software is an older version of SolidWorks (V10). My CAM software is an older version of SprutCam (V7)
Since the laptop computer that I have set up to run my CAD/CAM software is not internet connected I've been unsuccessful in downloading and installing the Fusion 360 CAM software but I'm still working to get that downloaded and installed. In the mean time I've been working on modeling and setting up my tool paths on a Spiral-Fluted rifle barrel.
I've used my 4th-Axis numerous times but never for this kind of fluting. It's been mainly used for making straight X-Axis cuts like those found on reamers and such. It's taken me about a months worth of work to figure out how to set this up in my SprutCam CAM software and even then I'm thinking that there has to be an easier way to go about this with the Fusion 360 software BUT, I have yet to gain access to this software; when I do I plan to re-run my tool paths in Fusion 360.
To add to the complexity of this project; (complexity for me) my X-Axis work envelope is only 14" long; less than that after mounting my 4th-Axis unit on the table. The barrel blank I'm working with is 17" long and straight-tapered from 1.063" on one end to .875" at the muzzle end. On top of that is the fact that I'm running a one-horse-power CNC hobby mill to cut into some 41v50 barrel steel.
Like I said, I was able to finally get it set up for machining using my older version of SprutCam but how much simpler might it have been with the Fusion 360 CAM software? Could you do a tutorial on that???

Marc Meex Hi Marc do what I did stay at a company for 5 years then look for another that does different things I moved 6 times in 14 years from the oil industry manufacturing then aircraft components, submarine components then rocket propulsion components I learned to program Fanuck, Mazatrol, Alan Bradley, Hass machines also using CAD\ CAM but I learned so many different skills and ways to produce components quickly and efficiently, I was always given the worst and most complex jobs but I new so much I wasn’t scared. If you stay in one company you will only now what they make. And it could be just nuts and bolts, get out there and learn all you can it’s really rewarding. Good luck.
