  • Mickey Mouse and the History of CNC machines? This video explores the post-World War II era, the Cold War, and the innovative minds that laid the foundation for CNC machining's unique history.
    🕰️ Timeline:
1946: Manual machining era dominated by the "Bridgeport" mill.
1949: John Parson's vision for automated machines with Punch cards gains funding.
1952: MIT finishes the Numerical Controlled (NC) machine using a 7-track punch tape.
1956: Air Force accepts the proposal for a general programming language for Numerical Control.
1959: APT programming language presented to press, showcasing machined ashtrays and a Mickey Mouse.
    🛠️ Revolutionizing CNC:
Discover how APT and other programming languages revolutionized CNC machining, paving the way for precision and efficiency.
    🏎️ James Engineering's Contribution:
Jump to the early 1980s, where our founder, James "Jim" Richards, played a crucial role in Formula One Racing. His advancements in precision chamfering and deburring set the stage for James Engineering's influence on top companies like Sikorsky, Boeing, and GE.
    🚀 Looking to the Future:
While CNC machines have long dominated the industry, we explore how James Engineering continues to evolve with the introduction of additive manufacturing, artificial intelligence, and other cutting-edge technologies. What does the future hold for machining? Only time will tell!

Gcode is a great mention! It would follow up APT a bit later in 1958. Though this video just covered the early foundation of CNC machining, we would love to dive in more in future videos!

It sounds like John T. Parsons "might" have gotten ripped-off by MIT.
