Wish the cup holder on the door panel was a tad bigger. Their new infotainment system looks terrific! I'm sure the seats are comfortable too. 2.5 liter engine is decent! Agreed... no manual I'm out. I really like the styling too - way better than current WRX.
      It would have been fine if they kept the manual only for the sportier RS model only..kind of like how if you want the new Integra with manual you have to get the top spec model. I'd be fine paying more for that. But no... they got rid of it completely.
      It would be a blasphemy if they kept 6 MT for 2024 Crosstrek but then got rid of it for Impreza, since they are basically the same cars.

    • @jbm0866
      @jbm0866 Год назад

      They are a small car company falling victim to a changing car landscape. They were fine being known as the "all AWD car company" (minus BRZ of course) that produced affordable AWD vehicles for people who live in areas with real winter or occasional camping trips, but with internal combustion powered vehicles being prematurely legislated out of existence, companies like Subaru will stuggle to exist in another 10 years or so. By that time AWD will be offered in nearly every type car (easier to do with electric motors) and Subie will struggle to set themselves apart from the competition. As for the "no manual" thing, thats easy to figure out. Different transmission types require different certification for sale in the US (don't ask me why) and they also tend to get slightly worse EPA mileage which hurts Subaru's already lackluster corporate average fuel economy numbers. Subaru is even trying to increase sales of the cvt WRX by offering sport seats and other goodies only with that transmission. That to me signals Subaru wanting to eventually phase out the manual on even it's performance models.

I'd say get a GR Corolla, but you're not finding a GR Corolla at msrp. If you can, then geta GR Corolla over a Mazda3 Turbo.

    I like the RS a lot. Actually, I have an Impreza with the 2 Liter and feel that the power is not nearly as lacking as some reviews tend to make it sound. They 2.5L is a much needed addition now though, to compete with the Mazda 3 and Civic with the turbo. Definitely would be on my short list if I were in the market now. It all comes down to price. Needs to be significantly cheaper than the Mazda 3 turbo. As for comparison to Civic, definitely the RS is more suited for harsh climates. Otherwise it comes down to price.
    My ideas for a better model line: Base with 2.0L, RS with the normally aspirated 2.5L (sort of replacing the current Premium trim), and move the Sport up to a higher price and add a mildly turned turbo of about 200 to 220 HP.

      Wont happen, Subaru has been blindsided by world governments stupidly trying to phase out ice at least a decade too early. The reason they didnt produce an STi version of the WRX had nothing to do with lack of demand and everything to do with Subaru's lack of hybrids and EV's to offset their lackluster corporate average fuel economy. (Average among all models) Just like Mazda, Subaru is a smaller car company that has to make some hard choices of where to spend what development money they have, and the Impreza and Crosstrek are their bread and butter...not the Legacy, not the Outback, and especially not niche performance cars like the WRX or BRZ.

    👍👍 It's nothing fancy, but better than basic. The Trax doesn't have a rear passenger arm rest either. So this MSRP better be around that 25k range. If it's higher, it needs that armrest before production

    • @dillonh321
      @dillonh321 Год назад +2

      I watched another first look and there was a armrest with cup holders. Must be optional. The touchscreen is pretty large for the segment I think. Also the new trax will only be FWD no all wheel drive.

      @@dillonh321 uh oh! With an armrest and AWD option, that probably brings it to the 30k+ MSRP. Thanks for the heads up, I am digging this Impreza '24

      Me too. I was going to trade my outback in for an Legacy when the extended warranty expires but this Impreza RS has changed my mind. I don’t need all the space or ground clearance of the outback or I would get another outback.

      @@dillonh321 the outback and legacy are both good choices too. I also don't need as much as the outback offers and I don't want a sedan. That brought me to the Honda Civic Hatchback and Mazda. But this video has brought me back to Subaru 🤣

    I'm very surprised that I really like the styling, especially the grille. The taillights still have a bit of the lobster claw look, but they are nicer looking, IMO. Great review.

    Really like what they've done here with this RS model... they just needed to retain that.manual transmission, which is the most important for me.
    I have 06 STI, and have been wanting to add a daily driver to keep miles off that thing...and this would have been near perfect (with the exception of not having the WRX engine, but 180 HP is enough for daily) but no manual means no buy for me.
    I guess I have to go back to contemplating between Civic or Mazda 3 hatchbacks....

      No thanks just give me a CVT since these days they'll shift gears almost as fast as a PDK, of course the problem isn't how fast it shifts but how much power it can handle.
