Most of the Omnia videos don't say or demonstrate that they've read the operating instructions. Those tips recommend pre-heating the base plate on high for 3 minutes if cooking for shorter times (10-20 minutes). Said instructions even suggest using flame setting at 1/2 for alcohol stoves (like my Origa) as alcohol burns a tad cooler than gas stoves.
Thanks so much for the comment. I get the same results whether I preheat or don't preheat the baseplate. It just uses a lot more fuel to preheat it for 3 minutes. In fact, I wish I had a way to keep the base plate cooler for longer so the top has more time to heat up before the bottom. I do find the silicone liner though makes a big difference in how it cooks and cleans.
I've noticed that some folks put the rack below the silicone ring to separate the flame further from the biscuits, etc. Then the flame appears to be able to be higher without burning the bottoms. Even more than a conventional oven, opening to peek lets out the heat, which adds more time to cook. It is hard to wait!
Add a thermometer to lid vent hole to take the guesswork out. I use mine on top of a Trangia cook set with a metho (denatured alcohol) burner. With simmer ring on fully open it reaches 208 °celcius. Easier to adjust heat with a gas burner though. It does take a little longer than a regular oven. Thanks for sharing.

I am going to try this. Thanks for the suggestion.

I just bought one.
I think you will like it. Always start a little lower on your flame than you think. It can be easy to burn stuff if you crank it up on high.
Ever thought of making a video when it's not raining?
I just uploaded a video without rain😁. Of course, it was cold and had just snowed the day before but no rain.
