    "Forgiveness" is greater than vengeance , " Compassion" more powerful than anger. Amen, Selah❣️

      Can you quote the scriptures to back that up? And don't forget the ones that would contradict them like how Sodom would have repented at the preaching of Jonah but he decided to rain fire and brimstone on them instead.

      The Greek word splagchnizomai is used in the Bible to describe compassion. It's a strong word that literally means "to be moved so deeply by something that you feel it in the pit of your stomach". It's translated into English as "filled with love and compassion" or "moved with compassion", and suggests that compassion is a gut feeling or a feeling deep in the heart.

      @@Warrior4Christ-Ps.91-Selah What do you think about God acknowledging that Sodom would have repented at the preaching of Jonah and yet he rained fire and brimstone on them instead? Everyone always goes on and on about his love and grace when he saves one city and sends another just as evil city into an eternal lake of fire. And Jesus said he will send people into the outer darkness that cast demons out in his name. Maybe we should be more worried about God's wrath. Too bad he gave us these bodies that want gluttony, sexual immorality and laziness.

    I like that the song is a sequel to Losing, I’ve really been struggling with forgiveness lately and I want to relate to this song instead 😅 I’ve been listening to your music since I was really little and I can’t tell you how excited I was to see that you’re back!

    how did you teach yourself to play a right handed guitar with your left hand? The strings are even switched... even the pickup controls are at the bottom... what? how?

      I've tried to figure out how to play a few of his parts on Land of Color songs. Impossible until I eventually realised that it was both a right handed guitar upside down and in DADGAD, and still extremely difficult after realising!

    To any abuse victims who see this: You are NOT required to forgive your abuser. That does not bring peace to everyone. And you certainly have no business blaming yourself for what THEY did to you or for your very natural reaction to their behavior. You are worth more. You deserve more. And I hope you find the validation and peace you are owed. ❤

    • @noahchung8480
      @noahchung8480 8 месяцев назад +1

      I understand what you’re saying and agree with not falling into the trap of blaming yourself. But I think you’re thinking of forgiveness in a completely different way and completely missed the point of the video.

      @@noahchung8480 Interesting. What's the point of the video from your perspective?

    • @noahchung8480
      @noahchung8480 8 месяцев назад +2

      @@HeroesFeastoes You can forgive your abuser. There's nobody making you do it, and you aren't on some kind of deadline. But TAN would say it is a good thing, not just for your own morality, but also to set things right between you and God. It's not about the expectation that all of the sudden your abuser apologizes and everything goes perfectly after you do the thing. It's about the Bible verse I think the pastor who talked to Mike's dad was referring to: "For if you forgive other people when they sin against you, your heavenly Father will also forgive you. But if you do not forgive others their sins, your Father will not forgive your sins." You do it with an expectation that it impacts your relationship with God, leaving the result of how it impacts your relationship with your abuser up to God.
      From my personal belief, and I think TAN would agree, total aknowledgement of wrongs done to you AND wrongs, even minute ones, that you have done to others, including your abuser, is only possible through redemption by Jesus. True forgiveness- accepting everything is true- is only possible with assurance of full salvation- that your own part of wrongdoing in the world has been paid for.
      Edit: Adding on some extra thoughts.
      Jesus said that even being angry against someone is sin, and is as good as murder. It is very easy to do wrong to your abuser. But that's a truth I don't think should be fully faced if someone has not received and can live fully knowing they have full forgiveness, because then it's hard to deal with the reality that we have to forgive others. If we've never been perfectly forgiven, how are we supposed to do that to others? And that's the freedom Suddenly is talking about.

      @@noahchung8480 Wow, I think that’s more words than are in this whole video put together. Gold star for writing an essay during the winter break! 😉
      Let me go ahead and clarify my intent for posting this comment. While I’m of course open to perspectives I haven’t considered before (though I have heard your particular argument about this topic already), I am not interested in an involved debate.
      I just wanted there to be one dissident voice in this little corner of the internet for that one kid who’s steeped in the blame and shame church culture who might come across it.
      I know I would have benefited from more dissident voices of reason and compassion back in the day.
      Not trying to throw all Christianity or church under the bus here, but its culture does have a history of enabling abusers. And this just seems to me like a contribution to keeping that cycle going.
      Anyway. Hoping you and anyone reading this is ultimately able to find that peace and joy we’re all after. And have a happy Christmas.
