Sausage cheese balls, I make them every year for Christmas. 1 lb. Sausage uncooked, 1 1/2 cups bisquick, 8 oz. Cheddar cheese (shreded), knead all together and make balls. Works best if sausage and cheese at room temperature. Love your videos!
Sounds both easy and delicious.
Yes! I never precook the sausage.
I was looking for this comment. I was sure the recipe I used called for raw sausage.
Who remembers making "impossible pies" with Bisquick? Yes, I am that old.
I used to make them too when I was a young wife and worked a job with long hours. So easy! ~ Anastacia in Cleveland
I used to make impossible quiche with bisquick
You are'nt alone.
Wow Me Too!
@@kathygarner1383 Where would I find that recipe
Bisquick- everyone's secret go to. Even grandma always had this on hand.
My Mom found a bisquik cookbook at a second hand shop... lot's of great recipes.
Never hurts to remind people that in addition to the box recipes most brands have entire recipe sections on their websites. Betty Crocker/Bisquick included. There is also the Jiffy site for recipes.
My other mom always made a roast beef on a Sunday and then Monday, we would have like a left over beef stew with bisquick on top! To this day, it’s one of the foods I think about all the time and make for my husband and I
You can also do a similar version to the breakfast casserole: cheeseburger pie. Ground beef/turkey, onion, cheese, bisquick (with eggs and milk). Top with condiments. Super easy, quick, and delicious.
My kids love the cheeseburger cassrole
That's disgusting
When I make the sausage balls I don't precook the sausage, I put it in raw with all the other ingredients and it comes out perfectly. My boys love them. Love Bisquick.
Gotta make them again!
@@FrugalFitMom no milk needed :)
@@FrugalFitMom yes, use raw sausage.
This! And we make them smaller...
I make them in much larger batches (x4-5) for about every holiday and have for going on 30 years. The sausage is always raw and I don't have to have any milk either. My guys love them!!!
While organizing a home health clients pantry with her, we counted 5! bags of baking mix. We'll take notes & get some cooking done! Thanks for the ideas 💡
....I've been using Bisquick for Decades ....Grew up with that greatproduct.. , ( I'm older, in my 60's, lol) so it was a Staple in Moms kitchen arsenal . There's so much you can do with that, I love the huge Strawberry Shortcake Buiscuits I always made with that. The thing about Bisquick, is you can tweak recipes to a certain extent, I have always done this... EXCEPT the Dumplings. .. Those turn out PERFECT if you follow the instructions as written.
One of the few processed foods we always had on hand. ... I still do .
I keep it in the refrigerator, in a airtight container.
I've been making the sausage cheese balls for around 50 years. My "old" recipe is: 1 lb sausage (uncooked), 2-4c grated Cheddar, and 3c Bisquik. I normally use 3c cheese.
That's how I've always cooked them. Uncooked sausage & 2 cups shredded cheese and the Bisquik
When I make them it’s with the raw sausage as well.
Same here and we smoke them too! Yummy!
This is how my grandma makes them too! Raw sausage
Time & temp please?
Our favorite recipe is the 7UP biscuits. The leftover sausage balls that you pressed into a dish, I can see that being topped with beaten eggs and served as a casserole.
Also use the bisqick to make the cheddar biscuits like they have at Red Lobster. I always have left over bisquick after the holidays from making sausage balls and made the cheddar biscuits to use up the leftover bisquick. My family LOVED them!!
I put it on chicken like bread crumbs. It's delicious.
We always make the chicken and dumplings with Bisquick! It's fast and easy! It taste great! Another favorite is the impossible pumpkin pie! Thanks for the video with these great recipe ideas!!!😊🤩
I need the receipt for dumplngs
My family’s favorite is the cheeseburger pie. I always add in a can of green beans and sometimes corn too!
Hi Christine! I just looked at some Bisquick recipes yesterday because I have a 5 lb box in my pantry!! Too funny. Thank you!
For the pineapple upside down cake, it's possible the milk would have made it not so dry. The chicken looks delicious!!!
The pineapple juice has a high sugar content certainly compared with milk and definitely compared with water!
Also if you use dry ingredient measuring cups for liquids you get inaccurate measurements. Clear is for liquids
One of the reasons I love your channel is because you are so real. You show your successes and your failures. Makes me not so scared to try new things in the kitchen. Thanks for being you!
I always do the sausage balls with uncooked sausage.
Wow this became one of my favorites. Hope you could do this as a weekly series? Loved how you took one item that’s affordable and easy to obtain and worked it in many ways!
I use Bisquick often and I even have a Bisquick Cookbook. I also like Jiffy Baking Mix, it's usually a few cents less in price too. And those sausage balls, I LOVE them. I'll make a batch in a 48 cup mini-muffin pan and freeze them after baking. But I don't cook the sausage before mixing. I use the raw sausage, cheese and milk. No egg. Scoop them in the cups, bake them for about 12 minutes and they're perfect. They warm up in the microwave in seconds and are great for trips, quick breakfast or snack. LOVE THEM You should try them: 1lb sausage (uncooked) 3 cups of bisquick, shredded cheddar (measure with your heart) and enough milk to mix. Scoop them in the mini muffin pan and bake.
My fav Bisquick recipe is the impossible apple pie. Haven't made it in a long time......idea for my day off now I have a working oven
The breakfast casserole looked yummy!😋😋
David Tennant fan you say? Then you might like “The Decoy Bride”. I found it at my local library. Very cute movie. 🥰
Also, when I have Bisquick on-hand I use it instead of flour when making sausage or bacon gravy. Not sure why it tastes better to me. Right now I’m out (too expensive), so I just use cheap Kroger pancake mix instead. 😁
Thanks for the movie tip!
I'm so glad that I'm not the only one who loves to use bisquick! We found the cookbook at a thrift store and had to get it. There are some really amazing recipes in it. Thank you for sharing! 😊
I'm 63 and my mom started making those sausage balls when I was a little kid. That was her go to appetizer. I make them sometimes just to snack on. And yes the recipe came off the Bisquick box.
I love how real you and your family are. I wouldn't have even been able to get through the deflated sausage balls at all. And my kids would have been no help at all with that. Thank you for sharing even recipes you didn't like or that didn't turn out the way you intended.
Some of my go-to meals are "biscuit bakes" from Bisquick. Lasagna, salsa, breakfast, etc - the possibilities are endless! I'm definitely going to have to add that chicken one to the mix.
My family used to use bisquick for sausage balls. Recently we switched to using red lobster cheddar bay biscuit mix. Game changer. I even make it with lightlife gimme lean sausage (it’s vegan). So good. When ever I get a sale on the sausage I buy all that I can. Make as many batches as possible and freeze them. They reheat really well in the air fryer.
Thank you for the great video! I love Bisquick recipes. For the pineapple upside down cake...they get more moist if they are made in advance. My husband requests one for his birthday every year and I make it 2 days ahead. By his birthday, it's perfect.
I literally just bought my first box yesterday because company is coming and they like it. This video is so well timed!!
Oh my goodness! I don't think my pantry has ever not had a box!
Always looking for new Bisquick ideas!
Love all of your posts, but especially unusual ones like this, thanks!
Christine- the sausage ball recipe uses RAW sausage, you do not pre-cook it before mixing it into the bisquick and shredded cheese.
Gonna try that breakfast casserole! Everything looks delcious!
I have the bisquick recipe book. 😊🌞💜
These are so excellent! And quick!
The sausage, eggs, bisque and cheese reminds me of sausage balls. All the recipes look good. Love your humor
Try the Bisquick Impossible Coconut Pie!! It is soooooo good and pretty!
I make the sausage balls differently. We use 2 cups Bisquick, 1 lb pork sausage, 8 oz of shredded sharp cheddar cheese. Mix together roll in to balls and bake. It is my husbands favorite snack.
Love watching her so much
Monday morning awesomeness 🙌🙌🙌👋👋👋
My bisquick recipe for sausage balls was 1 lb uncooked breakfast sausage, 1- 8 oz brick of cream cheese, softened, and 2 cups of bisquick.
I buy a large box of Bisquick at Sam's in December for making cream cheese sausage balls (much cheaper than buying it at the regular store). Its amazing what you can do with the stuff!
I LOVE Bisquick! Its so versatile! I remember the upside down pineapple cake! I swear I could smell that video. lol Bummer it was dry- probably needed the fat from the milk? I know one time I made cornbread from a cheap jiffy corn bread mix and had just enough heavy cream I needed to use up that I used it instead and holy heck did I elevate a cheap box of corn bread. It was so fluffy and tender it fell apart but it was soooo good. I haven't bought Biquick in years, may have to pick up a box for nostalgia recipes. lol Plus that breakfast casserole looks tasty!
Rogue for president!!! Thank you for your honesty and real life moments -- you didn't mention how the sausage ball in a dish tasted
I grew up eating Bisquick everything, but I never had a breakfast casserole.😊Always something new in your kitchen.
Great timing with this one! I am making cheeseburger pie tonight (its kinda like the breakfast casserole, but with ground beef and onions on the bottom). I serve it with pickles and veggies. The kids sometimes top it with ketchup.
Haha I’m making that tonight too! One of our favorites
@@rangerlove7 my husband SPECIFICALLY requested it!! There usially isn't any leftovers of this one!
Woo hoo!
Can not wait to try these with my gluten free Bisquick!
Omg im In UK and good karma hospital is my favourite show. Its so feel good. I'm so happy you like it. Im terrible with sticking with shows on TV (it's on normal TV here not steamed) so the fact I've seen every episode says a lot
They look delicious!!
Love watching your videos!
Your teaspoons crack me up every time 🤣🤣
I’m a huge fan of Acorn TV. Always enjoy your videos too!👍🏻
I loved the casserole! I tried it, it’s soo good
I cook sausage balls in a mini muffin pan and it works great.
Andrew’s little “action🎬” was cute!
Perfect timing! I have a box of this, bought on clearance £3 (UK), and now I can get ideas what else I can do with it
Love these recipes❤ I have the gluten free bisquick. I’ll have to try some of the recipes. We need to throw some potatoes in the casserole. Yum!
My favorite is the bisquick chicken. YUM!!!!
I always love watching your videos. Thank you for sharing and thank you for the promo code 😊
I use Carbquick which is a low carb version of Bisquick. It has a lot of the same recipes as Bisquick on the box and on their website.
I find it at Walmart in the baking section.
Does it taste the same as Bisquick? Jw thanks
I love acorn tv. And the recipes look great
I finally got to a Dollar Tree over the weekend to get my meat masher. Haven't tried it out yet but I know it will be great because of this channel!
Also great for mashed potatoes.
OH that breakfast casserole with the sausage looks so good! My mom used to make those same recipe sausage balls. Only her balls were round (snort snort) They go great with beer!
The reason your sausage balls was a fail is because of the cooked sausage and milk. You should always use raw sausage, room temp mixes better but isn’t a requirement. The purpose is for the 3 ingredients to mix together and be bound as one using the moisturizer from the sausage.
Been making them for over 25 years and any get together we have it’s a must that I bring them. It’s required if I don’t then I can’t come. Lol It’s a New Years Eve staple for us.
You’ll need more bisquick 2-3 cups for a single batch is what I use. I typically just pour about a cup at a time to make sure I have the correct consistency.
I always make a double batch and use one pound sage and one pound hot Jimmy Dean tends to be the best, & sharp/extra sharp cheese, the flavor is amazing.
Hope you try it again and like it. Love watching all your videos!!
So you're saying you double the recipe and use two pounds of sausage, a pound of each type?
@@yvonnepalmquist8676 yes ma’am 😊
OMGsh! I neeeed that adorbs piggy bacon fat holder!! Sad story -- a few days ago, the mason jar I kept in the fridge fell out and broke into pieces - lost all my bacon grease, plus suddenly cleaning a mess right when I was trying to get out the door for work. So that cute lil rubber/plastic piggy for the pig grease is just so perfect for my life!!!
Love it 🥰
I did the same recipe for the sausage balls and added milk. I also had leftover mixture after the 24 balls. My 21 yr old nephew was with me and said they were more like biscuits. They weren't that popular and stayed in the fridge lol
I LOVE BISQUICK RECIPES. I MAKE THE CHICKEN POT PIE RECIPE ALL THE TIME.
I don't have Bisquick in my pantry but you get all my thumbs up because you are fab-extra fab-extremely fab!! 🤩
E grazie
As a variation you could put the sausage/cheese ball thingys in a mini muffin pan. Works pretty well.
I make my own bisquick it’s easy 4 cups flour 2t baking powder 1 1/2 t salt 1 c shorting I use crisco and mix and use as usual I store in air tight container I just feel better about making it I love this video thank you for shareing
Thanks so much, I’m gluten intolerant so I might have to give your recipe a tweak and give these a go 👍
I make those year round!❤ I never cook the sausage first and they always turn out great ... you are cracking me up ❤
I've had Acorn for several years, love it for the English (UK) programs
I want to do these with Kodiak cake mix, thanks. Great challenge
Bisquick's Impossible pies are favorites here--my son still (age 28) asks for Impossible Cheeseburger pie.
On sausage balls where you messed up is you don't cook sausage ahead. It's raw in the mix and cooks in oven.
Yup
That's what I was thinking. It has to be raw sausage.
That's exactly what I was thinking. This had me questioning whether or not I was making them wrong. Lol
100% raw and cold. Also, I like to mix the mild and hot sausages, but that's a personal preference.
My recipe is 1 pkg sausage, 1 cup bisquick and 1 cup cheese as well. All right out of the cooler, mix and bake.
Cholula is my go-to for hot sauce. I like the green, too.
I use bisquick to make strawberry shortcake! So yummy!
I made the pioneer woman not skewered teriyaki chicken the other day and it was a big hit in my house. Except for my husband who is very picky and don't know what good food tastes like.
Thanks Christine! I have to go to surgery: I needed a good laugh. 😘🌻
I second the sausage balls with raw sausage. They work so much better and are delicious.
For the sausage balls use a mini muffin pan to help the balls keep their shape. I use my mini muffin tins all the time to bake batches of meatballs for freezing, and the tins work great for this.
I loved your little piggy bacon fat keeper. Since the Bisquick was on clearance, it is possible that the baking soda or powder was expired, which could make the biscuit-y part of your recipes not rise.
I have a recipe similar to your first one but just add diced apple. It’s a game changer! 😋🍎
Oh I love the little bacon grease pig. So cute.
I used to make the bisquick coffee cake. It is delicious and easy.
I'm a bisquik believer. Now they have developed bisquik gluten free! Didn't realize I had a problem til I used it instead of the regular. I'm impressed with your restraint on the cheese balls, is have probably been de-monitized. 'Action '
Andrew, made me laugh!
discovered ACorn tv because of you a year ago- it is our favorite!
Noticed their original recipe for sausage balls, she does not say cooked sausage, it all cooks in oven together so the added milk would have been off too.
I’ve done bisquik recipes a few years now and I feel it’s good for the basics only.
Love it
We love Acorn! Murdock Mysteries first few were meh but it gets better. Republic of Doyle really good!
I would love to see this type of video with Kodiak cakes. I saw there were like 4 recipes on the back of the box -both sweet and savory
I really like their Streusel Coffee Cake Recipe.
The fiesta chicken skillet looked really good! Also I tried your mom’s recipe for banana bread last week…. Let me tell you as a southern girl I have tried a lot of banana bread recipes. But it was so delicious and moist. I couldn’t keep my kids out of it. And I’m making another loaf today😁
Dave said that fiesta chicken dish is one of his FAVORITES!
@@FrugalFitMom definitely gonna try it!
@@FrugalFitMom did I miss it do you cover it in the oven or not. Cuz I'm definitely trying that one but I don't want to screw it up. I have some people coming over on the weekend and I thought this would be the perfect dish that would go far
@@brendabautista9683 Did NOT cover it
I make my own baking mix. It's sandra Lee's baking mix. It's great and I've used it for years. Saves me money too.
Christine and family have a great week your funny thanks from Oklahoma
My Mom always had a box of Bisquick in the cupboard but all she ever made with it was biscuits. They were really good though and we had homemade strawberry jam with them.
Made a homemade chicken soup last night and my son helped with making the biscuits. Totally inspired by a couple sickies in the household and this video. 😅
