You're bang on point, Matt. I've been visiting Thailand every year for the past 14 years - spent bundles of time and cash all over, but particularly in Bangkok. As a British/Jamaican who's traveled quite extensively over the past 30+ years (SEEN SOME THINGS AND DONE SOME STUFF IN NO GO PLACES) I can truly say that I don't know any other place in the world quite like Thailand. Also fell in love with Bangkok the first time my family and I went there this year!!! This video almost made me tear up. Can't believe I'll be back there by this Saturday.
A nice and pleasant tourist destination, awesome street food and affordable fir the upper middle class people, the scenery, maintenance of tourist spots are commendable. The vibrant place for free mind people.

+Wayne Mathews As far as vaccines, I forget exactly what you need. But if you just google "Thailand vaccinations," you'll get a bunch of Intro. As for other advice...just have fun, be open to new things, and remember what I said in the video about the scams:) Cheers!
+Wayne Matthews Hepatitis A and Tetanus, that's it (and you should have a Tetanus shot anyway, no matter where you live)...both good for 10 years. That's all I've ever gotten, and I lived in Bangkok for six years and travel there every year since 1999.

Probably the best video on Bangkok I have ever seen, and as I have been there 17 times (my wife is Thai), I can vouch for ALL of your tips. Spot on the mark. Just like to add, use Bangkok as an entry point to Thailand, get out into the country, meet the real Thais. The country has so much to offer.

I wish someone would have told me that my first time in Bangkok. Taxi driver charged me 2500 baht from airport to Soi 12. No meter.

Unless you're a local, Tuk-tuks are NOT an option (apart from the one-off novelty trip). If you know where you're going , by far the cheapest (and sometimes even free) way is by bus - 7/11s sell pretty accurate bus route maps. Any destination walkable from the river, use the standard ferries - cheap and scenic.
I always take tuk tuks and never had any problems
Tuk tuks are ok just bargain hard on price avoid the smart drivers who approach you at least half the asking price
@@philflat4765 No matter how you bargain they will always be overpriced. The best fastest and cheapest way to travel is to take the MRT or BTS to the nearest stop near your destination and take a taxi bike (or use grab bike so you don't get ripped off by the bikers you get from the street). P.S: Been working in Bangkok for almost 3 years

One of the better BKK highlight reels I've seen.
I'm Thai and i can guaranteed that Thipsamai Golden Gate is NOT that good, it is wayyyy overrated, local would not go there, some people might try it once because of the hype then never visit again.
Totally get that it's a tourist spot...but I thought it was pretty darn good:) To each their own!
I don't like Thipsamai and I'm Thai as well. I agreed that it's quite overrated, however, when it comes to taste... it's relative. It depends on what one's like .... so I'm not gonna judge anyone for that. Especially travelers..... At least they do it in the right way, unlike so-called Pad-Thai cart around Khoa San Rd.
I agree with you.. There;s so much more to enjoy and I suggest people just venture out on their own.. This video covered a lot of the touristy spots which I personally hate. lol.

Dude wtf! The hotel you recommend was right next to redlight district. Everyday I had soo many prostitutes coming up to me and cat calling me. The neighborhood is straight trash. I followed your Tokyo tips but you really failed when it came to Bangkok.
IK407 Sorry to hear that man:( I never had that experience in that neighborhood. But it has been a few years since I’ve stayed there. Hope the rest of your time there was better other than your experience with the hotel.

Sorry, but you oh so cute recommendation at 11:42 characterizes far too many Western tourists and is not cute in any way - as is reflected in the tightening of the current visa requirements in order to get rid of such foreign asshats.

As a Thai, this is my favorite Bangkok guide video.
You aren't being exaggerated, both the good and the bad about my city, you say what it really is.
