Vikram worked cuz Kamal gave Lokesh more than enough time to complete a bound script. If you've seen his interviews, he mentions time and again that lockdown gave him a lot of time to finish scripting. Also, it's Kamal Haasan ffs. He's a filmmaker of the truest sense and makes movies for the greater purpose of telling good stories and not with the sole intention to appease fans.

I remember that in his interview with Sudha Kongara,she mentioned Raju hirani rejected movies of big stars when his scripts r not ready.Nelson should have done that for beast

Same answer. Scripting was pretty much done and dusted before the shoot for all these mentioned films.
