Fun fact, Robert Patrick who played the T1000 was really fast, that on the first take they had John on the bike fleeing him in the parking garage he ran up and tapped the kid on the shoulder. RP also practiced running without having to breath visibly since as a machine he wouldn't breath.

The Protectinator. As a kid in the early 90's this movie was absolutely amazing to us and still is. We were just like John Connor. "Easy Money" This was during the birth of CGI and it was mind blowing, just like Jurassic Park. They didn't depend on it, they utilized it in its infancy. There are actually two sets of twins in this, the cop's and Sarah's. I honestly cried at the end the first time. I can't lie. "It's when there's nothing wrong but, you cry any way."

By "the cop's", you mean the "guard" in the mental hospital, where he gets a cup of coffee and then the liquid-metal terminator became him and unalived him.

I was 9 years when I saw this masterpiece in the biggest movie theater in town. It had the greatest sound system imaginable. When that endoskeleton crushed that skull, EVERYONE jumped through the roof.
      Now that's a jump scare

Fun fact, the helo pilot was a Vietnam vet and that flight under the overpass was real! All the far shots of the helo are him flying (under the overpass, over the bridge, the fast dive) all Charles (Chuck) Tamburro

Liked the contrasting details in T2 such as Sarah's leg injury and Terminator's red eye are the opposite side as T1.
Coincidentally, the 90s saw significant decline in coffee vending machines and the Rise of office coffee stations and cafes.

Arnold's holding roses, as in Guns & Roses - reference for their music contribution to the movie.
The rest of the Terminator movies aren't that great. But the 3rd movie does complete the story trilogy. Might be worth a watch. I also like Terminator Genesis though it's not great either. It can stand alone w/o the in-between movies outside the 1st 2.

There are a few Meta themes carrying on jn the Terminatior movies : the first had a commentary about the lack of safety on America's streets (as in one of the reasons that the Terminatior blended in so well, because of the surrounding violence, exemplified by there being a line in waiting with the 911 calls) .
The second movie commented on the topic of mental health, and the systemic abuses that were discovered in mental health hospitals -- something that what was talked about in the 80's and over corrected in the 90's (see currently all the mentally ill people on the streets of California as a result) , while "Sarah's dream" was essentially "the sum of all our fears throughout the 45+ years of the Cold War" -- something that ended two years before this movie came out, and is still considered probably the best cinematic depiction not just of The Bomb, but the fear if it and how living with that fear constantly made some people a little crazy . 😢
On the bright side, our leaders are steering us towards WW3 now (instead of investigating Covid) , so who knows, we might get a 'live' demonstration ?!? 😅

This came out in 1991, seven years after the first film. But it's set in 1994 or '95.
Aside from the logical contradictions inherent in all time-travel stories, they're already ignoring several of the parameters of the first film. For instance, the T-1000, being pure metal, shouldn't be able to go thru the Portal. They could've thrown in a comment that it was coated with a one-cell-thick layer of living tissue for the trip, but they didn't bother.
Each installment after this is going to have to rewrite and violate more of the original rules. Just like in Alien. I'd recommend stopping either before or after T3.

    • @jonmercano1138
      @jonmercano1138 10 месяцев назад +1

You’re not far off. The text commentary on the dvd and novelization say that the T-1k was wrapped in a cocoon of living tissue before being sent through. And I think they considered having the remains of the coccoon shown where it appeared.
The creative supervisor suggested it could mimic the field generated by a living organism, which is pretty much what I thought for a while

    1. Linda Hamilton must have been getting "Ah-nold time" to get ripped like that 😍🥰
    2. My guess is that stove is hot🧐
    3. We have limited AI now, so does China.😱😱
    4. Arnold did many of his own stunts in this movie, including riding the motorcycle. At one point he was injured, and they had to stop production for a couple of weeks so he could recover.
    5. Arnold is not left-handed, but the way he works that shotgun is impressive😱
    6. GOOF: Enrique's dogs don't respond to "Uncle Bob" as a Terminator.
    7. "I need a vacation" was ad lib.
    8. This is the action movie GOAT.

  • @Caseytify
    @Caseytify 10 месяцев назад +2

They addressed the "we blew up the time machine" plot hole by ignoring it.
The shotgun hidden in a box of roses is a visual pun. Guns N Roses performed many tunes for the film.
IMO, this should have been the end of the series, but they couldn't resist the money. At the end of each movie we think we've saved the future, but the next movie brings us the rise of the machines. Again. 🙄 It got old real fast.

If I had been hunted down by a robot from the future watching everyone die around me, had my own intimate near death experience with it, then get illegally locked up in a psych ward only to know that there was an imminent nuclear holocaust to occur and all of earth's fate was reliant on my only son's future... take a breath, I'd be pretty serious.

The Terminator and T2 were the Star Wars and Empire Strikes Back for my generation.
The Terminator is possibly the greatest "B-movie" ever made. By that i mean, it is the greatest low-budget sci-fi ever produced. Some of the effects stand out like a sore thumb. But The Terminator is still a great inspiration for future filmmakers. Cameron showed us what can be possible on a small budget and its freaking amazing.
T2 on the other hand is the greatest action movie ever made. Cameron showed us whats possible once youve established yourself in the industry. And its freaking phenomenal.
I mean, Linda Hamilton was so great in T2, she made Sarah Connor one of the greatest, strongest, most iconic female roles ever put on film. Her Sarah Connor is right up there with Cameron's own Ellen Ripley in Aliens and Scarlett O'Hara in Gone With The Wind.

I may be the odd man out, but I still prefer the purity of vision and more gritty, hardcore attitude that the first Terminator movie had. T2 is bigger and flashier and you can see the higher budget at work, but it also did more obvious pandering, broke the immersion at times for the sake of pleasing the fans instead of serving the story. I mean, you noticed right at the beginning when "Bad to the Bone" played and Arnold took the sunglasses, even though he didn't logically need them. There's a scattering of other moments like that throughout the film. There's a 9mm pistol that, inexplicably, makes pew-pew sounds, there's the senseless explosion of the diesel rig, and on it goes. These are things somebody decided that a Hollywood Blockbuster needs to have, and it felt like they were trying too hard.

Was "The Best" one of the whole series. Jurassic Park, Star Wars Episode 1, Harry Potter, and Lord of the Rings would've never happened without the CGI. But while I do miss the practical that the first Terminator had. Terminator 2 blended the practical and CGI together perfectly. Now, it's so overused it looks cheap. Terminator 2 Judgement Day Oscar Material. ❤

T-3 RISE OF THE MACHINES is a fun watch too. Wraps up all the loose ends, resolves wome of the time paradoxes and brings everything around full circle for a nice closure. After that they get tiresome. And Cameron's recent reimagining of of T-3 which he called DARK FATE is gawd awful.
