@@TheMuserResolute Marko actually appears in the 3-part harmony in the chorus. But yeah the lead singer is Troy, only did lead vocals in a couple of songs before, Shoemaker (the little bridge part) and The Carpenter live in Decades tour
It's Time. Time is who is singing. Well, Troy is singing. But Time is entwined with all Life, following along with everything, involved in everything. Time is very familiar with us. It's tied in with Endlessness, which is Time as well. Time is our constant companion, birth to death. Time works the continuous cycle of existence and ending. All things are born, and die. Time.
I think it's the ancestors or the grim reaper singing though and not Time. And yes, the song is celebrating death. Time sings in "Endlessness" I think?
It looks like, after 25 years Tuomas finally gets his way and can pull of this "campfire-music-project" he initially wanted to do and what then became the band, we know today.
Troy as lead vocalist, Marko and Floor in three part harmony. Tuomas was surprised at Troy's voice and wanted to put it into this album. ETA: I'm still blown away by how Tuomas always leaves room for even a soft rich tone like Troy's vocal tones - he's not having to sing over the top of any other instrument. Also, Troy said that apparently Uillean pipes "can't play this key signature" and that this song broke his brain to play.
Troy said in an intro to this song that thematically it is the key to the whole album, and the more I listen to the album the more I see the sense in that. Arrive Alive. That's the whole point of all of these songs.
Yep, Troy is a multi instrumentalist and singer. Great asset to theband (almost the same time as Floor). Troy was officially added to the band at the same time as Floor, but he's worked with them at least since Dark Passion Play. If you've ever seen the official video of The Islander (as opposed to the live at Tampere version), Troy appears in it as the younger version of the "old man by the sea shore". I don't know offhand if he only worked with them in-studio or if he might also have toured with them at that point, though.
Toumas said this about harvest in the latest Metal Hammer magazine... "It's a song about laughing at death, The lyric is pretty grim and dark, but the music is cheerful and you have this long dance section in the middle. In this song you're dancing before death; You're smiling at the scythe"
"You can't breach copyright with this melody, it's so folky everyone has heard some form of it somewhere before. I'm looking forward to hearing some growth here." *bit later* "There it is, yup! Awesome." *...bit more later* "YES! THANK YOU! ...yEs ThAnK yOu!" Correct! Tuomas goes full Pan on us in this album, he teases and teases but always delivers. Glad you're getting to this one man, excited to go through it with you! Try not to faint when you get to Tribal 👍
This is Troy the 3rd vocalist doing the lead. It feels very happy, but it is about our acceptance of death (Harvest). Not a sad thing, just a part of all life. Each song on this new CD is about some aspect of human nature. Pan is dealing with the human imagination and our need to tell and hear stories to spark the brain. Great job on this reaction my friend. I love your pure enthusiasm and joy of music. That is the deeper side of life. For someone who truly gets it. Loved your video and look forward to the next one. Peace out!
Accept death as part of life but DO LIVE and not just wait for the end. Do your best to take care of our planet and leave it in the best possible condition for the generations of humans and other creatures that will come after you. I don't really feel this song is dark, it just understands that human life is limited but that shouldn't stop you from dancing your way through it. Quite the opposite, I think this song is very comforting in many ways. And I love Troy's soft folky voice that delivers the message with such sincerity. Just perfect when coming from full on Noise and super dramatic Shoemaker. It's like a breath of fresh air. Now we're good to go, next one please 😁
I like this Celtic anthem a lot. Troy's voice is perfect to this type of material. Great harmonies, energetic instrumental section and Jethro Tull vibe. Thank you!
The great thing about the sequence of the nine songs is that Troy’s vocal is introduced in Shoemaker and then Harvest. He shines with utilizing his vocal and playing different kinds of instruments.
That bit in the middle when everybody kicks in with that instrumental jam is one of my favorite moments on the entire album and your reaction (with bonus explanation!) was exactly what I was waiting for. 🤘 Troy’s vocals with Floor and Marco backing I think are absolutely perfect for this song. It’s so so good.
😄 Hey, dude. New sub(although I've watched all your NW vids). That was funny. Commentor: "That's Troy!" You: "My bad." Looking forward to the rest of HN. It's a bloody masterpiece, my brother! As a musician, I appreciate great analysis and thoughtful insight. Keep up the good work! Regards from 🇺🇸 :)
If you hear this song again, you can hear it the first chorus (a-capella one) that there are actually 3 voices there. Troy is on the lead here and Floor with Marko are supporting him on harmonies. It`s easy to be confused, Troy is a very good vocalist too, not just an exceptional musician
If you listen closely, there are 4. Troy at lead, Marko a 3rd above Troy, Floor above them all, either at a 5th or on the 5th and an octave above that 5th.. but you also have a voice an octave below Troy, so there's a 4-part harmony on the first chorus. If you took the track for the second or final chorus, you might hear the same, but it could be lost in those choruses. But in the first (a capella) chorus, there's definitely a 4-part harmony.
When I heard the beginning of this song for the first time, I was sure that I had picked a wrong video. (It was the first one that I heard from this album, so these lyric videos were also new to me) But I'm such a huge fan of celtic music, so this is a match made in heaven for me. 🥰
Nice reaction! This was the 2nd single and so people were catched by surprise that was Troy singing, although we knew he was going to be lead vocalist of one song, and Marko in other song (not gonna tell you which one :P ) The folky elements more present than ever here, which is a cool thing to have in an album IMO Looking forward to Pan, that's a good one
Been checking almost every day for this, so excited 😁 I hope you're doing well and staying safe! Music is a such a fantastic light to have in times like these.
Nightwish actually has three vocalists; Floor, Marco and Troy. Troy takes center stage here. Marcos glory comes at the end of this album with a song called Endlessness and is one of my favorites from this album.
Aha! Joke's on you because this band is so talented they now have 3 really good singers. And yes, Troy's voice is so nice ❤️ Love the videos, your reacts are always interesting and entertaining. (P.S: inpatient people can be pretty annoying, but you're doing a great job and being very nice)
What a perfect reaction to catch today.... In my spiritual ''religion", today (in the N. Hemisphere) is the celebration of the 1st Harvest of the season. I needed to hear this one, to help me reconnect (as I have been dis-connected from the deep spiritual aspect of it for awhile now - life and all)... Before this showing up on my radar, 2 of my other fav. reactors did "Music". And today is the beginning of the end of last season in hockey, and, despite only having broadcast TV, I'm going to get to see 2 hockey games today, incl. 'my' team. And, it's not 98 degrees outside (high of only 80). Much to be thankful for... Including your great analysis and enthusiasm for another NW masterpiece. :)
Yeah, Troy it is. There is always a deeper meaning on what Tuomas writes, same with this one. Need to figure that out 🤗 All the best from Finland, stay safe 🤗
A band of multitalented artists. And considering that the style they have the style they would like to hear themselves to be performed (original idea of Nightwish style when band was founded) it fits with the multiple styles of songs they have played during the years. What has your fancy tends change all the time. Heavy, tender, harsh, ethreal, EPIC... all kinds of songs can be found with this band.
I came to this channel cause of the NF reactions. Glad I watched this video cause now I’m gonna watch/listen to some more of the nightwish stuff. Side note: without having seen every video on here, I’m interested to see when/what (if any songs) you actually dislike. Beyond some amount of neutral, but genuinely do not enjoy. It’ll be weird to see but similarly fun
Hope everything is going alright in your little corner of the world. It looked like harvest cheered you up :) I'm happy to see you back at Nightwish and keep up with the great work!
Your face at the beginning of the pipes/guitar "jam" pretty much said it all. And at the chorus repetition at the end, you pretty much mirrored that bittersweet hopefulness I'm sure the melody gives many people, including myself. its a happy go lucky song, yes but there is also the slight Gothic undertone thats so Tuomas and Nightwis when you realise its the Reaper doing the harvest and we are the harvest, and yet it is also a great advice delivered by Troy and Nightwish what to do with you life between the time of growing and harvest. its basicalley its like Tuomas tells us " dont fight that you will life and die give into it and do your part in live, life, inspire and teach the next generation, be a positiv example for the next man and generation.
amazing nightwish have now 3 vocalist when troy start to sing :) thanx again marvelous react,i enjoy your face happynes when listening this song :) this new album not have any weak link, what is amazing also these days. ok thanx and have great day there.
I’m a huuuuuge Nightwish fan but NF is a sick young artist too. I can understand splitting your time. Just think of how lucky you are to discover these two amazing acts around the same time.
Teach nice reaction, thanks. Glad the drumming outside of your front door has ended. This is Troy doing lead vocals with Marco and Floor singing under him.
I feel like people give up on this song too quickly. Nightwish demonstrates again and again what they are capable of and the bridge is so masterfully done you can actually close your eyes and picture a beautiful landscape through sound.
7:50 Oh, the joy! 😁 You really are so much fun to watch and listen because you're so into the music, seems like you don't just like it but you breath it.
The "tribal" drumming at the beginning is Kai's tribute for TOTO. He wanted to imitate the intro of "I Will Remember". I heard it immediately, but I kept suspecting myself until Kai told that on an interview. A nice touch.
Remember that this is part of an album, meant to be heard as 1 'unit' (much like Pink Floyds Dark Side of the Moon). Compare this track with the previous tracks and the remaining tracks - I think it's dynamics again (which Nightwish is so good at). Heavier tracks followed by lighter tracks followed by heavier tracks. A musical respite if you will - a short breather. Anyway, my 2 cents worth...
> join the harvest of hundred fields > Hearty and tame > All going back to one single grain... I love how Tuomas makes such powerful and poetic lyrics of biology and selective breeding in agriculture:)
Thank you! I’m heartened to watch someone enjoy this after much negativity. I LOVE THIS SONG. I said it, haters can come at me, idc. This is so fitting with the celtic/folky vibes that started to become pronounced in NW in Dark Passion Play. I’ll give you your like & subscribe now! 😁
But wait! There’s more!!! 🤪 (Yes, I refer to Nightwish and the album Human :||: Nature). Something I’d love to see is your reaction to a band called Van Canto. I really cannot say much, I would ruin a MAJOR surprise 🙂😎 My recommendation would be their original song “Water, Fire, Heaven, Earth”. The relevance is that they do indeed cover Nightwish, the song Wishmaster. However, I’m not interested in a reaction to a cover, that can come later, after you’ve heard the original. Their original compositions are on a different level than covers; as a voice teacher you will have much to say, that interests me greatly. I hope you do a reaction, and I hope you thoroughly enjoy the music (you may enjoy it as much as or possibly even more than Nightwish). 😁
I'm pretty sure I've recommended it before, but try "My Walden"! It's similar in how it's softer, prettier, and different from the usual from Nightwish. :)
This song is a song that is about embrassing death as it is a major part of Life and Humanity. Live life to the fullest, and enjoy life, even though the end of the journey comes no matter what you do. Embrace life and arrive alive at the end, not sad.
Please tell me that you are going to react to the entire album including All the Works of Nature Which Adorn the World and also I would suggest listening to Tuomas' solo project Music Inspired by the Life and Times of Scrooge.
Not markos, its troy, thier multi instrumentalist, and then its Floor and marko on backup vocals.....so, yes, in a band overflowing with AMAZINGLY talented musicians, you ALSO have 3 very strong vocalists that each bring a different something to the vocal table. So it's no wonder this band is soooooo mindblowing enjoyable.
I must agree with comments already made: that’s Troy on male vocal, not Marko. But you know that by now. Meanwhile Tuomas is demonstrating his continued growth as a composer. This album is his greatest creation to date. (Btw, are you listening to the standard 2-disc version of this album or the deluxe 3-disc release, which happens to be the one I have here at home?)
I subbed for NF. I subbed for Nightwish. I subbed for Billie Eilish. I just want you to react to Falling in Reverse❤ Losing my mind, Losing my life, Drugs, Popular monster. In that order, and also; the drug in me is you, then The drug in me is reimagined. Preferably in the same vid!
That's Troy!
My bad 🤦♂️
Yes Troy's wonderful lead with Marco and Floor backing - someone else who needs a "Floor Jansen is my backup singer" t-shirt.... lol

Love this spacebar ;) A feel-good song :D
@7:52 YES! Thank you! Yeah man!! Troy: the master of all instruments....and singing....hahahaha!! *cough*
Thanks for another great reaction, looking forward to Pan also, you are gonna enjoy it 👍
Yess! It’s already been shot and ready for editing!
very underrated song in my opinion.
Omg it so is!!! I’ve listened to this so many times so far and one of my favs
I feel like people give up on this song too quickly. Nightwish demonstrates again and again what they are capable of and the bridge is so masterfully done you can actually close your eyes and picture a beautiful landscape through sound.
Oh yes, the feel-good song about death. Love this song. 🖤
7:50 Oh, the joy! 😁 You really are so much fun to watch and listen because you're so into the music, seems like you don't just like it but you breath it.
On point reaction as always !!
Anyway, my 2 cents worth...
> join the harvest of hundred fields
> Hearty and tame
> All going back to one single grain...
Thanks so much for watching. This has been such an amazing album so far!!
Nightwish. . . . . . . .Expect the unexpected.
I'm pretty sure I've recommended it before, but try "My Walden"! It's similar in how it's softer, prettier, and different from the usual from Nightwish. :)
Thanks 😊
This song is a song that is about embrassing death as it is a major part of Life and Humanity. Live life to the fullest, and enjoy life, even though the end of the journey comes no matter what you do. Embrace life and arrive alive at the end, not sad.
Please tell me that you are going to react to the entire album including All the Works of Nature Which Adorn the World and also I would suggest listening to Tuomas' solo project Music Inspired by the Life and Times of Scrooge.
That is correct!
Troy's singing :)
Please react to Tarja "Undertaker" (Live in Milan) - from "Act II". Tarja was the first singer in Nightwish.
surrender to the earth people, it's invetible
I love that!! We treat death with such taboo, but it’s the one thing which unifies all of us!
@@TheMuserResolute was about to edit to add it's also endlesness, but you will get to that!
And another keyboard bites the dust 😁
😂
SO I'm not the only one who at thought it was Marco at first, that's kind of reassuring XD
I must agree with comments already made: that’s Troy on male vocal, not Marko. But you know that by now. Meanwhile Tuomas is demonstrating his continued growth as a composer. This album is his greatest creation to date.
(Btw, are you listening to the standard 2-disc version of this album or the deluxe 3-disc release, which happens to be the one I have here at home?)

i'm enjoing how you enjoing the music=)
Check out Poets of the Fall - Lift
The song is taylormade to Troy, just like "endlessness" is taylormade to Marco. This song is about mortality
Is Troy
Did you watch Yours Is An Empty Hope?
I subbed for NF. I subbed for Nightwish. I subbed for Billie Eilish.
I just want you to react to Falling in Reverse❤

Popular monster. In that order, and also; the drug in me is you, then The drug in me is reimagined. Preferably in the same vid!
Hoping to check them out 😊
