Hi my name is Carl Jacobson,
I started woodworking with my grandfather as a young boy. I continued woodworking through high school, and started woodturning after seeing a turned project in a friends shop. Some of my fondest memories are working with my grandfather in his wood shop. Being able to share our passion for woodworking, ties it all together. We also do a lot of epoxy projects as well as woodturning. Хобби
Hope you and your family have a happy and healthy 2024
Thank you John! Happy New Year!

I just finished watching this video and have read the 35 previous comments. There is absolutely no reason for me to disagree with any of those comments. Very well done Carl. It's a beautiful piece of work. I do have one additional comments though. At the end of the video please hold the bowl still for a bit. It is a bit hard for me to appreciate the work when it is constantly moving. It's been a great year watching the work from the Jacobson shop. Anxiously looking forward your work in 2024. Both you and Robin have a Happy New Year and stay safe.🙂🙂
Thank you so much Glen!!
I'll have to work on that :) Happy New Year!

Thank you Vern! Happy New Year!
I like the shape of the bowl, kind of a sine wave shape. I got three small cherry blanks that I’m going to turn tomorrow, I might use this same shape for them.
I got to go looking for some maple like that, that sure is some purty maple. Marc Adams runs a woodworking school southeast of Indianapolis, Indiana, and he said he has never seen any maple as what he’s seen here in Michigan.
Thank you Joe! Have fun :) Happy New Year!
Nice turn this week Carl! Thanks and Happy New Year!!

Thank you too!
Stunning figures. Wish me luck, sir as I have killed my craftsman 351.21717. I'm getting a clamping plate to modify my rockwell to accept the banjo from the craftsman and budget for a new laguna 18/36 from Woodcraft in Eugene. I'm dying to get turning, man. It's been almost a week and I could cry.
At least I got my Christmas gifts out before it happened.
Oh Man, I hope you're back in business soon!
@@CarlJacobson I will be. Thanks. My brother in-law will come through with a clamping plate for my banjo and then I can cross my fingers for a good tax return. Either way I'm going to get that laguna 18/36. Also, I'll be sockiin away for that chuck you use and all the jaws for it.
Hi Carl, beautiful bowl and wonderful grain pattern! A quick question about the wet sanding if you don't mind? As you move between grits so you clean the surface of residue before moving onto the next? Thanks and all the best for the new year, Mike.
Thank you so much Mike! Yes I clean the surface off between each grit.
Happy New Year!!
Fantastic work as always. Question for you Carl. I noticed that when you were sanding with the oil, looks like you were using a mesh sand paper of some sort. What exactly is it? Thank you in advance.
"Mirka Abranet", I first heard about it from Carl. It's pricey but lasts a LONG time and works great.
Thank you for that information. I greatly appreciate it.
Thank you Keith! Here's the link, bit.ly/48LmFaS
2000 rpm seems pretty fast for the inside of a bowl. Is that just because you've done it so much?
It's really not that fast if the bowl is balanced.
Gorgeous bowl...
Too bad all that wonderful wood in the middle of the bowl has to go.
Is there no practical way to save it?
Thank you! There is, but you need a bowl coring system. Unfortunately I don't have one.
