I 😍 🥰 loved this show when it originally aired and now I'm re-watching it all over again-Good, Clean, Smart, Hillarious Comedy that's Family-Friendly for the Children and with NO PROFANITY. A true 💎
@@amazonredhead_68no swearing. No profanity. No cussing. No mention even of anything dirty. They used euphemisms throughout the whole show. It was very clever that way. I love the way they didn’t take the easy way out and used euphemisms and spoke “around” sex always.
Frank once told Raymond off for going on about Robert's job because Marie worries about his safety while on duty and she got upset. Frank does , love his wife.
I found Frank not always that funny. I actually think it’s Marie that made the show. Without Marie the show wouldn’t exist. The show is really about an interfering Jewish mother in law. That’s what it’s all about. So it relies on Marie’s expert comedic and acting skills. Frank was a bit of a foil for her. Sometimes his jokes are too pressed and obvious to me. One of the things that annoys me about ELR is that they’re meant to be an Italian family and yet they act Jewish. Marie is NOT Italian-acting at all and neither is frank. All their friends throughout the episodes were all little old Jewish yentas and men. All the actors are Jewish. The jokes are Jewish. I can’t see the Italian in it at all. Only Ray was truly Italian. The whole show was a Jewish vanity project for Phil Rosenthal the producer. I’ve always felt you can see and hear Phil’s voice, intonations and even humour through Ray. His facial expressions are all Phil. Ray is really Phil Rosenthal.
One of the best moments was when Frank broke Maries glasses...he was so infuriated that she said they had a loveless marriage. They fought but the love was definitely there...they were comfortable with each other completely.
Getting and being used to someone and possessiveness do not mean being in love. Throughout the show Frank has said and done some very hurtful things to Marie. At times he behaves like a pig and shows he doesn't care at all about Marie's feelings. I'm not talking about the comedy side, more about the drama.
@@alicewilloughby4318 me too! I always used to loved seeing Marie’s cakes that she made and I always wanted a slice when she’d bring them over in those Tupperware containers!!!! LOL Sometimes they took too long to uncover them or eat them and I would get impatient.
Thing is Marie and Frank were FORCED into marriage when they conceived Robert by mistake, so they were never really given a chance to fall in love properly. But in their 40+ years together out of necessity, there may be a spark here and there.
What bothers me, there is two different reasons why they got married. One reason was they had to get married after Marie got pregnant with Robert. Another reason was, Frank had to be tricked into marrying Marie. By making him jealous and leading him to believe that she wanted to be with another man. I don't know which is the reason they are together, lol.
