A perfect portrayal of a mother-in-law who can’t let go! Phenomenal acting by the legendary Doris Roberts, (R.I.P.)!
My ex-sister-in-law gave my mother the full box DVD set.
Did she pass away? 😭😭😭😭
@@chiefouko Yes, she passed away in her sleep on April 17, 2016, at her home in Los Angeles following a stroke, at the age of 90. She had also suffered from pulmonary hypertension for many years before her death. In an interview, Ray Romano said of Roberts:
“Doris Roberts had an energy and a spirit that amazed me. She never stopped. Whether working professionally or with her many charities, or just nurturing and mentoring a green young comic trying to make it as an actor, she did everything with such a grand love for life and people and I will miss her dearly. Here's how good she was: She played the most intrusive, overbearing, nosy woman-always starting fights and whatnot and meddling in our business-and yet when I asked the fans who their favorite character was, all the time it was her. She was so good at portraying the love that was underneath.”
@@brittanyc.4540 Thanks so much for letting me know this. May She Rest in peace 🕊️🕊️
@@chiefouko You’re very welcome. Rest in peace to Doris Roberts. 💐💐
This was my all time favorite show! It helped me with my depression when I was in college and my dad was battling cancer. ❤🙏
i know it's a comedy show but in real life,i'd never be able to put up with marie
Frank and Marie was funny but in real life Never 😅
My parents are like a toxic, uncomedic version of them
Oh hell no absolutely not...Debra is at fault tho..she should have known what she was marrying into
Charlene, you and me, both!
@@BigBoss-zi5ssRay tried warning her but she didn't know them well enough. She should have listened to him.
This show helped me in so many ways I can’t count. An unconditional companion whether happy or sad 💕🇨🇦
One of the very last of the consistently truly funny shows on TV. Loved how Frank held his own in his responses to Marie's meddling, etc. Frank and his one liners -- truly funny.
Marie: "Who keeps
pornography for 20 years?"
Frank: "Anyone married to you." 😂😂
An exact portrayal of my late mother in law. This is why I love this programme.
Doris was truly an amazing actor! The love for her family really came through in every scene. ❤
Marie was the most realistic mother-in-law ever, and Doris played her PERFECTLY!
Marie (Doris) RIP 2016 90YRS OLD ❤❤❤❤❤❤never forgotten🙏🙏🙏🙏
Awwww Everyone Loves Raymond is pure comedy genius without a doubt.
😂😂😂😂😂😂MARIE IS A MASTER MANIPULATER 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
"Any time you wanna come over, with food..." :) Marie Barone; one of the greatest villains in Sitcom history! :D
U forget how great this show was. And the actors had such great timing and flow.
Lol the dude laughing in the background at 4:42. This show had the best live audience reactions. 😂
Yes ! that’s because I think it was actually filmed before a live studio audience and that makes all the difference. The audience’s reactions, the way various people laugh, actually supports the actors and helps get the laughs even more. The audience can react and respond better when it’s live. Some of the audience members’ cackles, gaffs, hehaws, and in this case that guy’s snorting /gasps for air, mean that Robert’s facial expressions were spot on. Brad Garrett, the actor who plays Robert was a great physical comedian. Sometimes I feel he was very influenced by Michael Richards who played Kramer in Seinfeld. It’s a very similar physical comedy vaudevillian acting style. The expressions were very similar. In fact, in another universe, Brad Garrett could’ve easily been cast to play Kramer.
@lapislazuli7876 Exactly why I prefer sitcoms to have a live audience rather than a laugh track. The live audience reactions just makes it funnier. A laugh track is just annoying.
How even after all the games Marie has played with Debra, she still put herself in between Robert and Marie after his botched interview. Lol she knew he had violence in his eyes 😅
I have a Marie as my MIL! I felt Debra's pain all the time dealing with Marie's insanity!
This show is so underrated, golden era of sitcoms. Frank was always my favourite 😂
Great writing and cast! Never tire of watching this hilarious show!😁
Thank you for 70 miles of laughs on my drive today.
Even when Peter Boyle was sick, his delivery of Frank Baroness was comedy gold.
I love it when Marie says ”You don’t know what you’re talking about, you and your cheap coats“ 49:06 😂😅
The thank you notes bit when Robert and his wife got home from their honeymoon..... my mother in law to a tee.
Rip Marie❤🙏 she was a great actress❤ loved her❤
Her name is Doris Roberts.
4:43-4:44 please tell me someone heard that laugh in the background 😂😂
Here, here.😉👌 I couldn't tell if it was a male audience honking or a walrus making mating calls.🤣🤣🤣🤣
While Marie is the monster I blame a lot on Ray for not defending his wife. He was not a good husband
Good husband? Just a mamas not. Mom mini I believe they call them in Italy!!!
Even as a child I recognised that he was a horrible husband… back then I still believed that people died with their tongue out.
Lol it was a sitcom......dont take it took heart ❤
To
🤣🤣🤣...Debra was also quite terrible
In her own deluded way, the sentiment was sweet.
Ik it's a show and just a character, but there are moms like Marie, and a lot of them don't actually understand what they do
The very last of truely funny sitcoms.
Most meddling mothers:
-Sophia (Golden Girls)
-Sylvia (The Nanny)
-Marie (ELR)
😂😅
peggy Biggs ( Mike & Molly )
Marie holds the crown of meddling mothers.
😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂 Marie is first, then Sophia, followed by Sylvia 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂.
@@csmith2484you all forgot Endora, in Bewitched! She really took the cake!
"Of course, anything you want. H..h..honey" 😂
😂😂😂😂one of the best TV shows in America
Perfect marriages or relationships simply don't exist. There's no one-size-fits-all approach to navigating them. What may be effective for Adam might not resonate with Peter. However, I've come to realize that there's always a solution to every problem. Half a decade ago, my wife and I faced such difficulties in our marriage that divorce seemed imminent. Despite the ordeal, we persevered, and today, we've triumphed over that rough patch, reunited and stronger than ever
There is a lot of sense in what you just said and I hope mine works the same way too, we are currently separated but I cant live without her, I love her so much. wish I can get her back I can do anything to have her back, we have tried therapy amongst other things
Letting go of someone you love is always challenging, but in my situation, I had the guidance of a spiritual counselor who prevented my marriage from falling apart. Her name is Suzanne Ann Walters..
This is helpful, I will look her up online right now...Thanks.
You definitely should. You wont regret it
How did you resolve your problems in your marriage?
Wow they actually hugged 😂
Meddling mother in laws are my worst nightmare. One of the reasons I haven’t married yet. That whole family dynamic where in laws are too close and don’t understand boundaries or privacy is NOT my thing. But it’s fun to watch the misery of others.
Mothers in law.
We bought a hm next to my husband's mom worst decision we ever made. We fight constantly about his mom damn near on the brink of divorce.
Marie would be happy if she managed to have raymond all to herself ditching everyone else in her life
Do you mean in an unhealthy way?
Yes. It's rather creepy, like Norman Bates creepy...😂
“A man’s best friend is his mother.” - Norman Bates
"Everybody loves Raymond" A crash course in the Great American Family
I love her and her husband. Honestly I love them all . They’re all great actors. Remind me family
Could you even imagine Marie and Frank raising those children? I was raised by grandparents. And as much as I dearly loved them, I wouldn’t recommended it. Especially Frank and Marie.
I wonder what Marie got it from: her criticism, jealousy, and demanding
My guess would be maybe Franks mother was the same with Marie and the cycle continues or maybe she grew up in an abusive, controlling, household.
Marie is so funny is because there are so many people that can relate...i had a Jewish mother and she was like a clone , hilarious 😂😂😂😂
That’s because the character of Marie is meant to be Italian and yet really she’s a typical Jewish nagging and overbearing mother. The whole family and all their friends and relatives across as Jewish to me. Phil Rosenthal just wrote a typical Jewish sitcom. I find nothing Italian at all about Marie. She’s a meddling, Medusean nebbish. Robert also is a typical Jewish looking actor and acted Jewish - the sense of humour and his language and mannerisms were all Jewish. I think Phil Rosenthal should’ve made more effort to write to the Italian sensibility and if he couldn’t do that, could’ve just written them all as broadly Jewish American.
Oh Robert dont feel bad! My uncle Bobby raised ne and is now looked at as my father! The best!
I've always wondered if now in 2024, Deborah has turned into a Marie with her kid in laws
I believe she has, canonically, and that Ally would turn out just like her mother with the man she marries :) "Looks just like her mother! another little megabeast!" to quote Drop Dead Fred ;)
After her own experiences? Nah. Debra would do everything she could to avoid becoming the thing she hated.
I’m sure she has
I think the suicide of one of the twins would have made her too depressed to be like Marie
A reboot would be amazing !!!!
This whole show and ALL the characters were funny as Hell 😂EVERY OTHER LINE IS A HILARIOUS JOKE ON ONE ANOTHER 🤣
I'll say it . I can't stand Marie. A domineering, passive- aggressive shrew at best. She hates her daughter-in-law, loves only one of her sons. The list goes on. The only episodes I enjoy are the ones where she is humiliated ( and there are few of those). Of course if Debra and Ray learned how to lock a door, there'd be no problems. Of course , then there would be no show.
Lol.. I definitely agree with you 💯 concerning Marie and they should lock their door both front and back door.. however.. Doris Roberts will surely be missed
Marie is triggering, Frank is a bully, Raymond would annoy me as a husband, but Debra is controlling and rude. I get that Raymond should support and speak up for her, but there are times when Debra should relax. Like in the episode "The Christmas Picture" when Debra invited her parents to be in the family picture. That was wrong since that was Ray's gift to her. It should have just been the Barones. Now Ray & Debra could have both parents in a family picture for their home, but Debra was wrong for that. I know, it's just a show, but this happens in real families.
@@user-vh3uj5mi2l
They tried locking the doors on the first episode and, Raymond got caught by the hair through the mail slot. As a matter of fact they used that in the intro on the first season. Try to remember ...
You do realize that this a sitcom, right? It is called fiction.
It’s a tradition in sitcoms for characters not to lock doors. It allows the neighbours and other family and friends to barge in and catch various characters doing something wrong. Sitcoms are all based on characters being fish out of water at some level and always being judged by the standards of society to their families. I love Lucy mastered the conceit. It was also a conceit used with great skill in Bewitched where Gladys Kravitz would just walk through the front door!!!! It was also used in The Mary Tyler Moore Show where Rhoda was always barging into Mary’s house. In I dream of Jeannie, Dr Bellows was always barging in on Major Nelson and Jeannie or catching him in some bizarre scenario.
Roberts facial expressions are awesome! Great actor!
most meddling mother in law marie moments? every episode in the series
Doris Roberts played her roll of Marie Barone so perfectly and funny 🥰 🧡 (RIP!)
Ahhh Marie! Classic funny comedy - she reminds me of my nona…great actress, all the actors are talented in this show. Bravo 👏 thank you for all the laughters!
Marie sabotage everything because she doesn't want Debra to be a better cook than Her and that's ridiculous always has to be involved in their lives
Those days people didn't like their in laws but still managed to get a long with them and live near them. Now days couples prefer to move hundreds miles away and have no family around
Frank always has Debra's back.
Loving the alliteration in the title. 😂
What idiot would move in across the street from their in-laws?
Debra had "pregnancy brain"
Its a show!!!!
❤😂best TV sitcom every of all time ❤😂
Mom was like Marie but worse
The ahould,ve moved back to the apartment in Queens.
Frank is my spirit animal
I feel like Robert could have saved himself if he said: “I do like to think I have a bit of a sense of humour.” Indicating that the note from his mother is a joke.
They should,ve stayed in the apartment in Queens!!!!!!
I think most of the mother in law are like marie
No lol just no.
Interesting…do you think most of the daughter in laws are like Debra?
What a ridiculous thing to say! 🙄
Two of my ex-boyfriend's mums were definitely like Marie, my mum also often says that my nan reminds her of Marie too
Robert is by far the nicest Barone!!
Funny how they walk past the front doors. Go around back of houses to walk inside 🤔
4:32 Ugliest laugh hidden in there - "HEUH, HEUH, HEUH"
I’m sure she has because they say each other all day, every day
Great show. And as odd as it sounds I would love to have a mother-in-law like Marie. With all her faults she does help, would do anything for her family in case of force majeure and it's way better than being around nice people that do not care about you at all.
I had the best MIL. Our two families blended well
Fun fact about Doris Roberts (Marie) she attended acting classes with Marilyn Monroe.
Marie nFrank were great
the switching of the ingredients was despicable, cruel, dishonest and wrong
And I still hate Marie for being the way she is.
Debra is a very kind lady.
For a split second there you realize Peter is actually a pretty big dude whose anger should be not be tempted who even at that age if he was to totally lose, it could probably put a beating down on somebody pretty good. He was pushed too far.
Named my baby alli
27:38 Frank's right, Marie is too 'high and mighty' to realize how selfish she's being.
the letter to the FBI was pretty horrible, but i do think Robert's multiple mommy issues made him a bit unfit to become good FBI agent 😆
Is it me or Does ramon character whiny 😅 plus Marie always makes trouble and then play the victim.
My mil but mine a couple of notches more severe, when you laugh it takes the sting out of it, Raymond just doesn’t get it, Debra holds back from throttling Marie, Marie can’t move on or change never the empty nester,Frank doesn’t want anyone, but underneath he does ,people really are absurd.I used to count how many seconds between her talking never got passed 5 seconds, how many digs she’d take and who to ,I would of liked our family to do a sitcom but it wasn’t funny.
My mil didnt like me in the beginning. But I stayed true to myself and won her over. he came to love me very much. She did interfere in my marriage and parenting.
Ray should just have moved
I know that there are some that think babies in the womb are joust amoeba but they are connected

A reboot of this show is needed but cant happen
No it's not
@@andrewgrove1691 actually fair point rays parents are gone
They couldn't make this show these days
@@purplelove392 true the humor just ain't the same today makes no sense with today's humor
@@TokerJoker420 What humor today?
She fax the FBI
I would have loved to have a meddling mother in-law both my husbands mother's were dead when I got married two times never got to know them I've been a mother in law but didn't get to know my son's wife!
42:45-42:55 🤮 Wtf 😂
Mom was much worse than Marie. Much, much worse
I hate this show because of this controlling overbearing annoying mother. The show should have been named after her. LOL.
Seeing this TV Show;
I must write ✍🏼
This character of Marie Barone is such that this Senior age lady is the most clever, controlling, conniving, double talking, Condescending person I've ever seen.
" who dosen't even have any remorse towards all of her evil 😈 ill wills".....
May † God † Almighty bless me so I never meet such a Narcissistic person in my life- - ever !!!!!
Thank you 4 this Nice Video.
I like the show but Raymond one of the weakest characters - as an actor hes not so strong and theres something irritating about him.
He's supposed to be a st. johns grad but is dumber than a drawer of hammers.
What is this garbage rightwing ad at the beginning?
Because a left wing ad would be even bigger garbage
The character of marie was horrible lol I couldn't stand her didn't find her funny at all
I HATED HER
Then she did an excellent job as an actress
@@TLR1219 good riddance
Part 2 of the fbi episode shoulda been in this list where marie meets up with agent garfield. It woulda explained why she did that.
