    Greeting! I have a Campanotus Sp. 1 colony going. The queen has 9 nanetics. I have had them a couple weeks now and they seem to be doing ok. They drink water and nectar but seem to leave mealworm pieces alone entirely. Zero interest.
    Is that normal? I don’t think the queen is laid any eggs. Most the workers cluster around the queen while only one or two venture outside the nest area. So it’s hard to tell if there are eggs. Nanetics are always clustered so close it’s hard to tell.
    Their current nest is tiny and they seem to really like it. The outworld is also quite small. I don’t think the problem is too much space.
    If you tell me the problem is patience, I am ok with that.
    Compared to my Pogo Rugosus queen, she seems to have been laying eggs fairly consistently. Last I saw them she had about 18 eggs. Then again she took a couple weeks to start.

      So camponotus normally don’t lay eggs to often. So the bigger they get the more eggs they will lay! So I suggest patience yes!

    The wooden nest is gonna be a problem to treat, because the predatory mites need humidity, so I hope the workers will make trips outside that nest
    as for the dying workers, let me bring up my most famous question, how fast do they drink that sugarwater feeder until its empty?

    • @antholleuferextra
      @antholleuferextra  Год назад +1

      They normally drink the entire tube within one day although today was the third day before I took it out which was very unusual 🤔

      Problem is they are all next to each other and I can’t move them around… but I’ve bought 20k hypo mites. 10k for the roaches and the other colonies and 10 k for the nicos

      Yea I agree with anty matters. Clean clean clean clean clean. Separate the colonies as much as you can. Then clean clean clean clean.
      Remove old food from all colonies as soon as they have finished eating then clean some more.
      I would personally stick down some face up sticky plastic around all the set ups in hopes that if the mites do try to spread to other set ups they would get stuck on the stick back plastic. Then I'd clean some more 🙈
      Good luck 🤞

    Feeding live roaches are high chances of mites. When I get my ants, idk what species yet. 🤷‍♂️ I won’t feed my ant colony any live insects 👍

    If you take the dead and dying ants out as soon as you see them you would eliminate the mites gradually. I don't know how effective it would be but it might do something?

    use the friendly mites to kill the bad ones, like ants canada did

    • @antholleuferextra
      @antholleuferextra  Год назад +2

      Yeah that’s what I’ve tried to add but I think the ants may have eaten them. Although I only added a few hundred. I’ve just order another 10.000!

  • @Antramblings
    @Antramblings Год назад +2

    Oh no mate it was going so well till the mites appeared . The only good news was the queen and the area around her wasn't as bad as the rest of the nest .
    You could definatley disconect and clean out that outworld its full of gunge and nasty things .
    Empty it into a barriered tub then take back the lively ones that would at least clear the decks a bit before you add all the new mites .
    Can only say good luck .

      @@antholleuferextra did you watch the lemon treatment videos from ants subang ? you could always put a quarter slice in the cleaned out outworld just to see if they use it as a cleaning station .
