    Rihanna is not the best comparison because Rihanna has the backing of LVMH...and even with the support of LVMH, Rihanna's fashion line FENTY flopped...FENTY beauty is doing well (partly because it addressed a large gap in the market in terms of a broadening the foundation shade range)...but Rihanna's high-end designer line was discontinued...also Savage x Fenty was under fire for signing up customers to a subscription...their User Interface was designed to make it difficult for customers to know that they were signing up for a subscription...they had to pay 1.2 million to settle a lawsuit because of this

      Yep, it’s not about just brand it’s the right person and product, and right time, agreed. Seems like that’s the case with Fenty Beauty ~ filled a gap in the market. Beyonces product is her performing and vocal abilities ~ she also seems to do easy cash grabs and very little thought about finding right product, gap and timing it well

      FENTY launched in 2019 and was postponed due to the pandemic. Both Rihanna and LVHM have confirmed that it will return. Savage x Fenty is a $1 billion business and Fenty Beauty is a $3 Billion business. Rihanna OVERALL is the more successful one in non-music related businesses.

      She wasn’t always like that, but the image damage from the LeToya and LaTavia break up and Jay-Z's "guidance" and Wendy Williams saying she talks like a 5 year old (lol) made her not want to show her personality.

    The problem is she enters OVERSATURATED MARKETS to sell with NOTHING UNIQUE ABOUT IT. Many people just dont care about celebrity brands. We dont rush to buy from them. Their products can't compete with other trusted established products.

    I absolutely LOVE Beyonce, but she’s not personable or relatable enough imo. It’s like if Mariah Carey tried to sell me something, I wouldn’t buy it either. The persona gives “diva” and that’s it.
    Rihanna, on the other hand, feels like a fun round the way girl, who will give her bestie style and beauty advice. Her personality just shines.
    I’m not the biggest fan of Taylor Swift, but she’s also very relatable to a lot of people! People feel like they’re best friends with her (in their head).
    Not a fan of the Kardashians either, and while they arent relatable, you SEE who they are and know their personalities through their shows and social media.
    I don’t feel like I KNOW who Beyonce is, nor is she very relatable or personable. Mama Tina is more personable than Bey is. Like dang Bey can you do an interview every once in awhile or a cute video that shows more of your personality? I loved the hair video she did! I think we need more of that!

      Mariah has similar challenges selling.
      These divas CAN be business moguls but need to completely remove their image and name from the product.
      Had Sir Davis been launched on its own, given the chance to gain momentum for a year, then reveal its Beyoncé’s brand. That would be the better route IMO. Business major here.

      That makes sense. Beyonce seems a bit too distant and almost perfect. She’s not relatable on a personal level to 99.9% of people. I guess that affects how people view her products, as if they’re too manufactured to uphold this perfect goddess image people have of her.

    Beyoncé's brands make no sense! At her start with destiny's child she was a fun girl with jokes! But now we get none of that. We only get "Regal" (drugged up high) Beyoncé. And she never ever shows any personality... So for her to sell us something as a Celeb she needs to either start a reality show... or create a Brand that she's not the Face of!

    She is relying on her celebrity status to sell products. Unless you’ve got a genuinely great product, this won’t work when you have zero relatability and relationship with your audience.
    We don’t know who she is, so what distinguishes her product from any other in the market? She’s too celeb and not enough influencer. Her not doing interviews doesn’t help.

    Beyonces challenge is using the power and access she's gained as a musician in a lense where she'd like to operate as an owner (and not an influencer). Simply put, how do I behave as other (anonymous) business owners, using my "celebrity/entertainment " gained influence? Peoples expectations of her - access/faux relatablity - don't align with how she wants to positions herself. It works for JayZ. It doesn't work for her.

    It's a real good question. In my opinion Beyonce doesn't really engage enough with her fan base and the public in general. Beyonce has purposely positioned herself as a remote figure who is the superstar in a different stratosphere to everyone else. This strategy was the norm in the 60's, 70's, 80's and early 90's when mystique was important. But now, in the social media age, transparency and intimacy is so important. Fans want to feel like they really know their favourite celebrities and have some type of behind the scenes privileged insight into their lives. I personally dont believe has the personality to thrive in the social media age. She seems so remote and impersonal that it's kind of difficult to make that connection with her. Of course she I'd beautiful looking with a great body, but she just doesn't have that charisma or engaging personality. She just doesn't have it.

    Beyoncé makes her brands come at a high price tag while most of her fans are not in that tier. Even with simple products like shampoo, she is in the high price tier with reputable brands like Olaplex and Purology that have spent yearsssss in the field. We also only see her promote and make marketing videos for a short period of time during launch while on the day to day she is so private so there’s no basis as to why we can trust and appreciate her products even if we decided to splurge on buying one of them. Now if the sisters (Chloe and Halle) would’ve marketed this and made some videos before Beyoncé launched the hair care I bet sales would’ve been better. If your own celeb friends aren’t using it why would we?!?! She needs to learn from Kim who sends out those gift 🎁 boxes and we all looking around to see who got one and what they think…

    I don't think we have to know her. We don't know the CEOs of many brands we buy but because the product is worth the money and serves a purpose. Most of Beyonce's products are just not worth the money and are no different to what is out there. But I guess for her, she expects them to sell because of who she is, which won't work

    Mike was very relatable. The most relatable superstar ever. We saw him from when he was a regular kid to the megastar. Even when the media labelled him 'wiwrd and reclusive' the public still knew Michael. He actually never grew up from the lanky young man in the public eyes.
    Beyonce is more like Prince, you see her, like her work but dont really know her.

    She just needs to create a product that's not branded by her. That might actually work better in her favour. Do it in secret and the leak Beyonce dropped a product. People will go wild besides themselves trying to find out which product it is. It actually fits better with her 'brand'.

    I understand her wanting to keep her life private and her kids life private so they can stay normal.....but it's not gonna translate to sales, you kinda have to choose, privacy or brand sales. I understand the music industry has changed so the money is different from money and the money really comes from concerts.......but products dont sell the same as concerts.

    As far as brands I think her hair care line Cecred is doing very well at least off me alone 😂 so im confused what are your sales source? She even got so personable to show two videos now of her getting her real hair done for all to see/critizise/&hate on which sold me to try it out. This I believe is her most authentic brand dealing with hair. If you did follow her music you would understand the venture into whiskey. Sir davis is following the country theme of cowboy carter right now where she mentions whisky in alot of her lyrics even her grandfather's story. I believe these are meant to be collectible or tangible extensions of her albums like the Ce Noir fragrance with Renaissance. The main target being her fans or connoisseurs. Unlike Ivy Park & Cecred which are made for the masses and launched outside of her album rollouts. I stopped relying on forbes net worth estimates in the words of kat williams "they showed me my net worth and I had that on me" 😂 To be honest I think that Rihanna is now trying to go into hair off of the success of Cecred.

    I feel like Bey has been marketed as a perfectionist artist for such a long time that her selling other products comes across as inauthentic. I agree that it’s kind of diluting her brand.
    I feel like cecred would have made more sense as her mother’s product with her backing. Her Tiffany’s campaign made sense with her image of mystique and prestige.
    I think the mysterious, regal, private image works amazingly with her music and likely with her trying to remain private, but unfortunately the trade off is that you can’t really capitalise on a image like that to peddle your own products.

    That’s crazy because everytime Beyonce dropped ivy park it would be sold out by the time I went online… and the whiskey won every competition it was put in lol….     I don’t agree with the guy in the right. Beyoncé cashing in on motherhood when there is so much competition with other older celebrities is a sure way of her becoming ubiquity and revealing a lot. Good whiskey is good whiskey and she’s not trying to be as much a brand but just create income. Who know where the whiskey brand will take her in the future and it’s rep? The analysts in this video are very short sighted and haven’t done enough research. Beyoncé has been known to drink, you would have just had to be in the loop to know. She’s appealing to her core fan base that does know her regardless of how much she shares, you simply aren’t her target market

    Rich people and older people drink whiskey. Rum and coke? Who drinks that over 30? Affluent people keep quiet. The question is who is her market? I think her brands are for middle class and up. I would buy Beyonce's products over Rihanna. Rihanna's products are very mainstream and feel cheap. Beyonce's line feels like it's well crafted. Well crafted products require higher prices tag and regular people don't necessarily know brands that are not mainstream. Beyonce feels more exclusive and that's her brand. I'm never paying to see Rihanna nor do I want to use her products after trying fenty savage. I enjoy her music and think she's beautiful. I don't trust her to sell me products just because she's likable.

    Beyonce is like me in a way..we have so many things we are good and interested in but lose focus and get bored immediately..its a bad habit. Shes good at it but theres no passion there..once you have passion for something,it becomes your baby and you work hard to make it work and try hard to relate to it but Beyonce doesnt relate to it.
