It’s a tough pill to swallow but zoomers and shockingly quite a few millennials still need to understand 90% of the inter webs is fake. The mIRC/BBS days of innocence have been long gone
I’m a black American but these nut jobs need to leave Eastern religion out of their schemes in my opinion…but I guess being from the east gives him an excuse.
I've always disliked jay shetty, I never understood why he seemingly popped off from nowhere and became this figurehead in the podcast space. Something about him comes off as disingenuous.
He lived in the Penthouse of my apartment building in Hollywood ($20k+/month). Drove Porsche and always coming in with shopping bags etc. Guess the "lack of desire for materialistic goods" wasn't part of his monk training. Anyone claiming to help people and then interview the Khardashians and use them as a symbol of idealism, should be taken as entertainment. Issue is he is he isn't marketing himself as an entertainer, he's claiming he will help you make your life better. He's not a bad guy necessarily, but be clear that this is entertainment and then to hawk life products is just bad karma.
I think you are being overly generous, lol. For example, if he was a good guy, he would have already marketed himself by now as an entertainer. Let's face it he was only in it for himself.
@@neutral_narr I hate to pass judgement on anyone, although it is easier when people who claim to be "altruistic" are frauds. I think people start things with the best intentions and then once money/fame/recognition gets involved, they lose their way and forget why they even started the endeavor. He would be better served just rebranding as an entertainer than a life guru.
My company (Silicon Valley based) paid Jay to have a sit down with our CEO last year and record a conversation for managers to help them with their mental health. I didn’t watch it because I read about the dude for 15 seconds and said “this guy is a grifter.” Turns out, my gut feeling was spot on.
It's WILD how many of us could sense Jay was a grifter from 100 miles away! I despised this guy the minute I looked into him, even a bit - bc it's OBVIOUS he's a scammer and fraud, grifting for $$$. Hope Coffee will put this video on his MAIN CHANNEL so more can learn the truth!
Agreed, I’ve always avoided his videos entirely, and even when family sent them to me, I haven’t watched. I’ve just felt like he’s somehow “off”, and I didn’t want him in my head. It’s totally odd that I felt that way about him, and he gives me an “ick”. This news makes sense to me.
I used to listen to him and I stopped because it started feeling really inauthentic. He started brining in the most random stars as opposed to mental health professionals, researchers, etc who really had no reason to be on the podcast but coincidentally had a book coming out or a new project I stopped. Listening to all this I’m 😮😮
As a Sri Lankan Buddhist, i think i can safely say Buddhism and its practice in India and Sri Lanka are pretty similar. I can assure you that becoming a monk is not this easy. You cannot just go visiting a few sites, learn some history about the faith then call yourself a monk and go live in an Ashram. To become a monk you have to go through some rigorous training, learning the history and life of Buddha, gaatha's and prayers, Meditating and reaching a higher level of mindfulness is a huge part of it too. More so there's a huge stigma around leaving the monkhood once you have chosen it. Many don't and those who do are considered never to have truly wanted to follow the path. This man is basically exploiting this faith for personal gain
As someone who's studied South and East Asian mythology for a little while, the second you said he studied for three years and became a guru, I got suspicious. For any monastery, Christian included, it typically takes WAY LONGER than 3 years to become a teacher to others. Idk if that was obvious to others but I thought to point it out anyway.
Hindu (sanatan dharma ) is way complex to be in any years, it says the religious script can’t even begin to scratch the surface in one life. Well he probably studied 3 years cause I see he learned nothing. He is a con man 😂
there is so much literature in islam as well and you have to learn the life of the holy prophet and his followers before you become an imam. That takes 7 years before you're considered qualified. And Islam is not as old as one of the oldest religions or beliefs in the world such as bhuddism or hinduism which has so much to cover before you learn everything about the spirituality philosophy. So 3 years sounds like Elizabeth holmes dropping out after a year and saying she engineered a new way of drawing blood 👹
For Hare Krishnas this is a long endeavor as well (to become Sanyasi) and some of them fall to the same kind of what I consider materialism and selfishness they are supposed to embody the opposite of. I have also met many that are 100% legit and truly walk that path with no BS. 3 Years even for someone who grew up in the religion IMO not enough time to have truly learned.
@@mariakanwal7907 3yrs is nothing. Untill or unless someone was very high calibre yogi. Which is very very rare. The path which i follow it'll take 10-12yrs to become a guru that too with lots of practice. Mentoring and becoming guru is different.
To call 'ISKCON' an orthodox Hindu religious organisation is a bit of a stretch. For some context, I was raised Hindu and my family was and is deeply involved in the movement. You can think of them as a group of people who have monetised the religion to a scary extent. Their temple for instance in Bangalore looks like a traditional Hindu temple fused with a multinational corporation + mall. About 2/3rd of the building is dedicated to selling you merch, food, and other religious material. (Think Tshirts, Mugs, Cakes, Fast Food, etc.) They also receive donations in numbers that would make anyones' eye twitch. They aren't orthodox by a long shot. It's more an organisation that has managed to mould Hinduism in a way that is more palatable to westerners. People quit corporate jobs to work at ISKCON and they're taken care of pretty well with accommodations, food, etc. taken care of by the donated funds. So, it's honestly not a huge surprise for me having grown up in that temple attending ceremonies every week since I was kid, to see how it could lead a person down the path of hyper-capitalising Indian spirituality. It's exactly what the temple does and I'll take a lot of heat from other Indians on this but it's true. Jay Shetty has given me that vibe since day one and hard to see how people fall for this crap. I guess if you're dumb as a brick, the things he says sound real deep. PS: Look up 'Krishna Lila Park' if you'd like to see what I mean about the extravagant spending this temple is involved in.
wow, i looked up the building you mentioned and it looks like Hinduism and capitalism had a big, expensive baby. thanks for providing your insight as someone raised Hindu.
tbf, they're part of the Gaudiya Vaishnavism sect, which is a legitimate religious tradition. I was part of Iskcon before I left, and there's certainly a need for them to teach the philosophy properly instead of forcing their devotees to do more preaching lol. Iskcon these days is focusing more on the externals like big temples, huge donations, a lot of "members", diverse projects like farm communities, more outreach etc. Instead, they should focus on making ppl understand Sanskrit and the underlying Indian philosophies.
I think at this point I'm just naturally suspicious of anyone who comes across in a 'guru-like' fashion trying to open my eyes to some grand self truths. Maybe I'll miss someone useful, but I'd guess I'll be better off overall.
At least give people a chance so that you don't miss out on those useful people! There are gurus out there, and it's easy to tell when somebody has put time into becoming knowledgeable about a subject versus idiots who are trying to impress. Typically gurus will be eager to communicate and help people to fully understand a subject, it should not be confusing, and if it is, it should be backed by congruent explanation. If you haven't watched this video and enjoyed coffees breakdowns, you have not just missed one of those useful people, but also engaging in their content and with their community. Coffee is a guru, and has basically said as much. Gurus just have bad reps, because it's slang for "f*king scientist in _", but for some people, especially for those who have been scammed, he has definitely provided some grand self truths in the old fashioned way, that is a person realizing something themselves, and to help them to be wary of schemes that they may be addicted to gambling on. I think what you dislike is manipulation. A nasty thing that has also been around for a long time, can and often is used through religion, and is not true knowledge but the projection of it, a sociopathic tendency.
I’d be more trusting of anti-guru-like people…and even then I’d be careful, because when someone feels the need to tell you over and over again they are one thing, there’s a good chance they are the exact opposite. Like a villain named Mr. Niceguy! You should at least be cautious and do research before outright trusting them!
I’ve been off that stuff for about 2 years now. I was heavily into self help guru space and used to watch the liked of Jordan Peterson religiously. I know it’s a controversial take but I do think Peterson has gone off the deep end. Good psychologist, but he shouldn’t have become this false beacon of all knowing wisdom because he clearly isn’t. Anyway, just don’t watch the guru’s and channels alike and you’ll enjoy You Tube way more and more importantly, you’ll start feeling better because you’re not constantly bombarded with this generic image of your possible perfect self (that’s doesn’t exist anyway)
To try to understand why Jay Shetty is so successful is both impossible, as it requires understanding the entire, utterly bizarre world of self help, but also fascinating as he crosses boundaries from influencer (eg launching his wife, doing cute couple reels etc), grifter (launching supplement drink), guru (generic Westernised eastern philosophy), clout chaser (relentless pursuit of celebs, chiefly getting in with the dysfunctional Will and Jada Smith family who boosted his fame hugely), content-curator rip off merchant (freeloading cringe videos saying ‘leave a ❤️ ❤️ ❤️ if this touches you!), rider of the let’s-talk-about-mental-health wave, and self help coach. A slightly more nuanced point that might be hard to convey briefly to non-Indians, but it was evident from the very start that he was from an ISKCON background (a big community esp in north London, of whom I know many) and his story was complete nonsense, clearly designed to dupe Westerners. You can find very ordinary guys like him in the UK Hindu community around every corner, so fair play to him that he’s achieved so much with so little. Truly just a modern day version of the fake guru, as you said. I saw a comment once saying that he’s managed to make a multi-million dollar career out of monetising his eye colour…so perhaps that is what makes the difference 😅
Absolutely! Unexpected (though in hindsight, perhaps not) but very welcome input from Shrodinger's beard himself! Perhaps an unwelcome topic for a new video idea (since you've talked about it before), but would be interesting to hear about your perspective re: impact on perceived trust in real professionals @MedlifeCrisis ?
I have never felt so validated! A couple of years ago I was a mod for a small streamer who was so into J Shetty. I messaged her privately to warn her not to fall for people like this. I had a near miss in the past with a different charismatic spiritual healing "guru". She fully threw me out of her community and said I didn't fit anymore. Thank you so much for bringing this petty little giggle into my life today!
weird cult-like behaviour: Only surround yourself with yes-men and never be skeptical of what you are listening to. The saddest part is that it is usually the most vulnerable people who get exploited by these grifters
I think what made him famous was his looks combined with the British accent along with good sales skills. People who know how to utilize their looks along with their charm can sell anything. He can spew so much bullshit and people will still gravitate towards him.
Yes, (and as an Englishman, myself) I can tell that he's worked hard at that RP accent. I can often hear his "natural dialect" (and his limited grammar tbh) slip through and I cringe. It's also quite obvious that he hasn't REALLY read at all. He has only read quotes...and we all know about his quote "usage".
When someone who claims that they have found their spiritual truth, comes back to live in the materialistic world again.. that itself is phony in itself. West needs to be aware of such "Gurus"
Plato's myth of the cave suggests that though. Learn the Truth, that's the "not so easy part", buta then you need tò go back out there and "teach the Truth". That action is accompanied by others not understanding you, and by self-doubt. That's the difficult, but necessary part to be a full "philosopher". At least for Plato though.
So spiritual people can’t have material desires? If that’s your idea of enlightenment, you’re far from it my friend Edit: I don’t support Jey at all, I’ve always found him phony as fuck. It’s this comment that’s flawed, to which I’m responding.
Jay gave a speaking engagement at my workplace in his Facebook era. He spent the whole time quoting questionable studies. Very weird vibe of overcompensation.
Overcompensation is always a giveaway…I’ve never trusted a person who is overly charming. Always rubs me the wrong way…intuitively, I’ve always known there’s some inauthenticity beneath a person with too much charisma.
"Does the White House not vet credentials?" He came recommended. That's how it works among the powerful, and it's what confuses us little people. The powerful are powerful because they come recommended by others of the powerful.
They literally let Dylan Mulvaney sit down with Biden.... Oh... and They let Biden be president. I mean.... it's all a show, it's pretty clear. I don't know who still takes them seriously?
There is a practise called vipassana in india, where you get a taste of the monk life. No talking, no technology, basic food - you do this for 11 days and it's not easy. Go to the source, cut out the middlemen. It's completely free and they have nothing to sell you.
@@tburrrg2502 Doubt it, my bet (based on personal experience growing up) is he went to an ashram run by ISKCON. For a westerner there was no real hardship once you adjust to local culture and your immune system get familiar with what's common in the area. Though for me this was in the 80's before tech ruined everything.
I would check credentials of his wife who wrote a book about nutrition while posting average recipes. They are simply influencers and nowadays it seems you only need followers to qualify for anything...
So so true! I absolutely despise this influencer culture we have these days! I miss the way the world was before FB and all of social media taking over!
I unfollowed her as soon as I heard of her scam husband ! I’m proud I never followed him ! I did unfollow her because it’s impossible for a wife not to be involved in such huge matters of a husband ! For me, she’s just like him ! I think the fact they are both attractive really escalated their fame game !
@kahinaharrache5026 I listened to some of her videos and she mentioned in one that they rarely see each other in person, which is wild in its own way! They video chat and see each other IRL once a month or so
I'm from India. We always take self-help gurus and Yogis with a pinch of salt. We have had a larger sampler size to make decisions from in India. That's why we are sceptical when such gurus, yogis or godmen come to the fold. Another matter is, do you still believe White House vets such people? They just look at the PR they can get from such fake influencers. This is the how the world of politics work.
This is so satisfying because my friend was swooning over this guy in 2019… I said “this guy is a baby, what does he know about marriage and careers - he has less life experience than I do. He just repeats inspirational quotes from other authors.” She was upset, she said “but look at his beautiful eyes! I believe he is wise!”
his eyes was creepy to me, that's kinda save me from being scam back in the day when he was all over FB, the moment I saw him, I blocked the account and never heard of him again til now.
This definitely explains why I could never finish any of his podcasts. They always came off as disingenuous, he always spoke as if he was more important and made everyone aware how important he was to the guest on each episode.
Many thanks to Mr.McDermott for taking the time and effort of actually documenting this "black on white", and hopefully it can help some people who otherwise would have been "taken in" by this hustler...
i am hindu and a lot of us have been skeptical of him from the start. i just dont think anyone cared enought to disprove him but always thought he was a hack
This is a great expose! I've lived in India all my life and I must tell you more about spiritual organisations here. Firstly, monks go through rigorous training for years if not decades, before they are ordained as monks. They have to live in the monastary to do so. Also, ISCON is mostly looked at as a corruption of a spiritual organisation for the obvious reasons you have mentioned. Jay Shetty is not a monk or even remotely spiritual. He's a media genius selling tge nonsense people are eager to pay for. It must be a huge embarassment for the White House) Its amazing what social media skills can build. Gary Vee should interview him 😂
I'm a Hare Krishna and becoming one changed my life immeasurably for the better.. True story, it's a wonderful way of life & everyone who's taken-up Krishna consciousness will verify my testimony.
I am Indian and a Hindu, my dad bought one of his books from the airport and i told him this guy seems a little shady cause i see him just everywhere speaking to all these celebs. I thought to myself,"Why does he want to read a British Indian's book on spirituality and stuff when he has Bhagavat Gita and other scriptures at his disposal?😂" .
I Grew up Mormon and have since left. I have noticed this a lot with charismatic leaders. They constantly change the story of their transformative moment, plagiarize, and downplay their misdeeds. Dude is like a mini Joe Smith.
The first time i saw an Andrew Tate short on YT b4, i knew who he was and said, "This guy is creepy and seems at least a little sexist." Bout a month later, i learned who he was and felt like my instincts have never been so acute for a 30-second clip.
Naah, he is right. I remember people being sceptical of him even long back ago in Indian Book forums and subreddits. Most of his 'became a monk' stuff felt very superficial, which maybe someone from the west would ignore. Now, I wouldn't say that people thought he was an outright fraud, but he never came across as genuine or legit especially after the plagiarism accusations.@@Gandingas
16:40 The reason Jay lies about having credentials instead of just saying it's his opinion is that the people who pay $8,000 for his course are often struggling and/or not wealthy. They see it as an investment to get them out of their struggles. The credentials give them a sense of security to pay what is usually all they have left. Most scam victims are usually poor or struggling people who envy the rich scammer taking their money.
What does being poor or struggling have to do with being impressed by credentials. Rich people are even more impressed by credentials and have even more money to spend on what they think are amazing credentials. Your comment makes no sense; if anything lying about his credentials is better for scamming rich and educated people. Broke people can’t be as choosy.
@@deepfriedokra " credentials is better for scamming rich and educated people. " actually no. his pseudo credentials don't work on most wealthy people, they may work on new money people and the odd straggler here and there - but look man the wealthy don't stay wealthy by falling for this kind of scam every year. they're faux credentials, wealthy educated people who are truly that can see past that. uneducated poorer people who have no idea how the "rich mans" circles operate and what is bullshit and what isn't bullshit have harder time telling the difference. a person who went to university can tell if someone is just scamming about their academical credentials much more probably than some dude who just barely learnt to read can. "just trust me bro I'm educated and rich" just doesn't work on the educated and rich as well as it does on people who are envious of the rich and have no idea how things work, what is a reasonable amount of money and what is an exceptionally exceptional amount of money, they have no capability to spot bullshit in that regard. please note that what is rich at a certain point just becomes a thing in the mind and that the people who think they're not rich/wealthy are more at risk of falling for these scams - there's no actual objective line for it when you're wealthy/normal/poor, after all some people eat enough fast food to get to 600 pounds while thinking they did that because they're in poverty.
@@deepfriedokrano. Their comment does make sense. Rich people can splurge the money around but for those who cannot afford are given an assurance that they are putting their money with the right person because of so and so credential. Considering the plague of self help monks today, everybody has a choice. Even the poor. That is why it is important to lure them with credentials.
You get a diploma at the end if you need to prove that you have a degree. Universities, in the UK at least, are required to guard the personal information they hold and not just hand it out to anyone who asks.
Is it any wonder that the UK had a bunch of unqualified nurses (and maybe doctors, but what I read focused on nurses) when employers can't background check potential employees so they just don't bother
If you belive people based on acredidations you are falling for appeal to authority bias. The person saying the words is entirely independent of the truth of the words.
@@Dogo.R That is true but unrelated to the point. The entire purpose of a degree is to show that you have some qualifications in a subject. You might think degrees are worthless, and they might be, but the point of them is so other people can see what you've studied.
I’ve been going down a rabbit hole lately of discovering that hardly anyone claiming to be a therapist in the UK has any graduate degree in it, let alone a license. And it just is the way it is, apparently. I’m a year short of my masters and I’m more qualified than 90% of UK based therapists I find on LinkedIn. It feels weird.
I really liked his wife when she first started out but now all her posts are sponsored or trying to sell her products. It’s too bad. Also I have suspicion that they’re separated but have to stay together for publicity
I saw just 1 interview he did and when he said "last year I started to be kind to people I interact with, like in the past I would not greet or talk to my taxi driver, but now I do and it has changed me" I knew he was a pretentious fraud and a plant. Such a guru 🙄
I was in the school. Completed all the modules and then I was told I had to some other things that they told me in the beginning they got rid of those and that I didn’t need to worry about that anymore. So I tried to argue with them about it because I didn’t do any of it throughout the modules and it was gonna take me forever and then they said that they had to lock me out and I had to pay $500 a month now to get back into the program and finish what should’ve been completed through the entire process to be able to get my exams and all that done. Now I can’t get a hold of anybody. Nobody’s answering my emails or anything. Also, during the process of being in the school, it was very hard to interact with people and get the answers on what I needed to do or had questions if I was in quandary about something. That was supposed to be available and it really wasn’t. I ended up losing $7000.
I met him once. He would shuffle his feet so loudly...you could hear him coming long before you saw him... and seemed to have a lot going on inner monolog wise. He seemed a million miles away...not in the present moment whatsoever.
As an Indian man I always disliked ISCON and Jay Shetty. I felt ISCON took the generic shtick by con men gurus in India and re packaged it for the western world. And I felt Jay Shetty peddled generic stuff also taken from Conmen Gurus. But I just learned from this video that he was part of ISCON.

I worked over a decade full time editing for... I'm not gonna say but let's just say it's in the Jay Shetty bubble. All the editors that work for these guys all talk behind closed doors. It's been a running joke for years that Jay plagiarizes. We've been mocking his bold faced plagiarism on social media for years now. I still got facebook DM's of editors mocking Jay from all the way back in 2015. In our editor's group convos we'd always make the same joke, which would be along the lines of popping into the group convo and say something like: "To be or not to be, that is the question..." -Jay Shetty or for another example "Ask Not What Your Country Can Do For You" - Jay Shetty stuff like that. But yeah, we all knew.
@@gifi4 I may be a little slow, but I'm having a difficult time comprehending exactly what you are saying. Group that I seem to think I was in? I've never worked for Jay personally, the guy I've worked for is a good solid guy and has always been honest about who he is and where he comes from and always been honest with his audience. I don't want to mention his name as not to drag him into any undeserved drama. But two things to note: (1) Every single one of these big influencers have entire teams working under them. For every Jay Shetty, Tony Robbins, Prince Ea, Dharr Mann, David Goggins or Gary Vaynerchuk, there is a small army of videographers, editors, social media managers, etc. standing behind them. During the heyday of motiviational influencers, behind the curtain, I was the fuckin man. Every single influencer in that space has worked with me or reached out to me at one point or another. Jay reached out to me before, but to date I've never done a project with him. (2) Just like gamer communities, youtuber communities, and so on, those armies of editors, videographers, graphic designers, colorists, sound guys, production assistants, etc. are all very much part of a tight knit community as well. I've been in many many group chats with people who work for (you name it) at one time or another. Whenever there's a team project you'll end up in a group chat, sometimes with close friends, sometimes with brand new collaborators. You network and make friends, that's how it goes in every industry I imagine. So yes, in those groups, over the years, it has been a long standing running gag, and perhaps low hanging fruit, to make jokes about the integrity (or lack thereof) of certain influencers. ESPECIALLY of the ones that specialize in positivity and motivation. It has been a long long long long not-so-secret in those communities of who are who they claim to be, and who are less than legitimate. And as I mentioned, Jay was the butt of a LOT of jokes about plagiarism.
@chillie000 you have misunderstood my comment entirely, read it again. I am saying that what Jay Shetty has done is worse than what OP has done in mocking him.
Funny how this is similar to that woman talked about in 48 laws of power. She pretended to be from India, and do an Indian dance, and it was exaggerated and dramatized to be this foreign interesting thing
Nicole Arbour called him out over 4 years ago! She realised he was plagiarising all his ‘guru advice’ and as an Indian, I could smell his BS from 4000 miles away 😂
Because people fight the truth!!! Every time someone called him out it’s was them being a hater - now that a big RUclipsr is doing it, it’s different and the truth. People don’t want to listen to their fellow audience neighbors, they want it from people behind the screen because it feels like the news or more legit
After watching you on Joe Rogan I commented something along the lines of “PLEASE DO A VIDEO ON JAY SHETTY”!! Of course, I don’t think this was for me specifically…but I APPRECIATE IT!!
I also dont understand how Jay supposedly didn't do something illegal...when he straight outright gave FALSE credentials. Particularly on his course website. How is that not illegal?
In the UK it appears to be. Whether it’s illegal in the US varies by state. Most states have laws against claiming to have a medical degree or certain licenses.
These people who tell you that they can solve your problems or give you purpose or whatever.....are usually frauds, because no one else can do that for you, only you can get yourself a purpose no one else
I work at a huge corporation, that shall go unnamed. This individual was hired to do one of his “corporate mindfulness” chats. I had no idea who he was (guess I missed the social media boom). And couldn’t fathom the hype.

Religion is a deep personal truth. Anybody who tries to commoditise it eventually ends up engaging in these scams. This shit is sad and shameful. Ironic how it defeats the core philosophies of Hinduism.
Religion is a scam by itself, so it is no wonder scammers use the framework of religion in their own scams. It is the scam template. Be atheist instead.
I noticed him when he was coming up in fb during those years and found it shocking that he had such a huge following and so many views. I disliked him almost immediately like 3 minutes into the first video i watched and thought it was weird that other people loved him so much. Now i feel vindicated
I read the article and it was really good. Thanks for the video coffee, I wouldn't have found it otherwise. And thanks for the article John, you're a real one, and you're so right that the mainstream media needs to start picking up the important stories which so often only circulate in independent media on youtube or other corners of the internet.
I hate how the word guru has been misappropriated from a religious origin with an actual use to any wannabe who calls themselves an ‘expert’ on something without actually being an expert to flog some course or ‘self-help’ book. It leaves a bad taste

He is phoney.
He interviewed one of my favorites authors and I could watch (quit half way).

This is actually true

Their temples look like soulless corporate buildings
People are so religious man. Spirituality is just cope😂
Exactly
tbf, they're part of the Gaudiya Vaishnavism sect, which is a legitimate religious tradition.
From the perspective of a Hindu, you already have what you need.
The dumb celebrities got served into a fake guru Jay
I saw a comment once saying that he’s managed to make a multi-million dollar career out of monetising his eye colour…so perhaps that is what makes the difference 😅
i love ur interest in grifters lol

16:40 The reason Jay lies about having credentials instead of just saying it's his opinion is that the people who pay $8,000 for his course are often struggling and/or not wealthy. They see it as an investment to get them out of their struggles. The credentials give them a sense of security to pay what is usually all they have left. Most scam victims are usually poor or struggling people who envy the rich scammer taking their money.
investment worth taking with credit. this is at the root at all self help scams. "it doesn't cost money, it makes money".
In a closed system, such as human society, the only way to accrue wealth is to steal it from or deprive others of it.
Why would a university not share info on what degree an alumnus has? Isn't that the whole point of a degree? So people can verify your qualifications?
That’s what diplomas are for
You get a diploma at the end if you need to prove that you have a degree. Universities, in the UK at least, are required to guard the personal information they hold and not just hand it out to anyone who asks.

He and his wife relied on being an attractive couple with pretty eyes. Never trusted them 😜
I find it strange they look so much a like 😅 seems a bit narcissistic to me 😅
Clones ? Maybe Controlled opposition? we may never know
His eyes ain’t pretty. Felt shady.
I really liked his wife when she first started out but now all her posts are sponsored or trying to sell her products. It’s too bad. Also I have suspicion that they’re separated but have to stay together for publicity
The same, I always had a bad feeling about him
I saw just 1 interview he did and when he said "last year I started to be kind to people I interact with, like in the past I would not greet or talk to my taxi driver, but now I do and it has changed me" I knew he was a pretentious fraud and a plant. Such a guru 🙄
But he never claimed to be a guru as far as I know, isn’t?

As an Indian man I always disliked ISCON and Jay Shetty. I felt ISCON took the generic shtick by con men gurus in India and re packaged it for the western world. And I felt Jay Shetty peddled generic stuff also taken from Conmen Gurus. But I just learned from this video that he was part of ISCON.
honestly in the current environment ,shetty just being half gujrati was a big red flag to me !lots of conmen/plutocrats/scams in the state dressed up as "dhandha" !

In our editor's group convos we'd always make the same joke, which would be along the lines of popping into the group convo and say something like:
"To be or not to be, that is the question..." -Jay Shetty
or for another example
"Ask Not What Your Country Can Do For You" - Jay Shetty
stuff like that. But yeah, we all knew.
Sounds like you and the others in this group that you seem to think you were in, are worse.
But two things to note:
(1) Every single one of these big influencers have entire teams working under them.
@@gifi4 hiw is mocking someone for plagiarism worse than doing plagiarism and ripping people off? Lmao
@@Gordon.PinkertonJay, is that you? 😅
@chillie000 you have misunderstood my comment entirely, read it again. I am saying that what Jay Shetty has done is worse than what OP has done in mocking him.

I’m not surprised he’s a grifter guru! He always had this air of faux spiritualism mixed with pop psychology!

Sometimes I wonder why "we" need this long time to expose him
Because people fight the truth!!! Every time someone called him out it’s was them being a hater - now that a big RUclipsr is doing it, it’s different and the truth. People don’t want to listen to their fellow audience neighbors, they want it from people behind the screen because it feels like the news or more legit
Let's be honest. This is a nothingburger of a scandal. No exposing happened. Given his charisma, I'm shocked this is all they have on him.
I'm amazed that Jay ever became so popular because he has always seemed so scammy to me that I couldn't even stand to look at him

I regularly go to the temple in Watford (in fact was married there) and i did the MSc Management course at Cass Business School. As soon as he said Hari Krishna, I knew exactly where this was going lol
In fairness, that same religion ruined the term the same way.
As an Indian who understands caste dynamics its not so surpising that Shetty is made such a big stature, given his associations with "Hare Krishna" organizations (i guess ISKCON). I dont think he would have made it so far without the dedicated support of oppressor caste diaspora in USA. I totally agree on what you mentioned about the whole "Vedic monk" bullshit. Its just another term to create mysticism and loot the masses. There is an epidemic of such "Vedic" influencers here in India.
