There are so many Great products in the retail world these days. We could argue that with the introduction of internet shopping all detailing products are retail.
I remember the introduction of the wax called “MER” from Germany in a light blue bottle circa 1980s. It was great stuff but a real nightmare to wipe off. I was still using it on my own car up until it ran out in the mid 2000s🤣🤣.
John, another great Video as usual , keep them rolling👍

I've used Autoglyms UHD wax since it came out. It's by far the best wax I've used on my black car. The beading, the easy application and the application pad is brilliant. Oh and it smells so good too. A work colleague walked past my car last summer and he said he could smell it and it smells nice... Just from walking past it! He didn't even know I waxed the car. Anyway, great video and comparison

Very interesting video Jon with some results I wasn't expecting!
Of the ones tested I have and use the AG UHD and the Farecla G3 Super Gloss. I do agree that the hydrophobicity of UHD is just a little bit better but having looked at some of my photos of beads from both, there isn't much in it.
Application I also think the G3 wins and by quite a margin as well. I like that you can make your way around the full car then grab your towels and buff off in the order applied. I found with this it gave a perfect 25-30 min cure time for the wax to fully cure/harden resulting in removal being effortless. UHD I actually don't find the easiest to use. Cure time needs to be observed carefully and I also find it can be a little difficult to spread a nice even layer of it. Get it right though and it's spot on, I just think the application runs the risk of user error.
Great video though Jon, thoroughly enjoyed it. Going to drop you a message bud as I have a proposition for you 😉

jubair Ahmed Nope, you have to correct the paint before you apply it if you want to get the best looks and best bond possible. At least a finishing polish and IPA wipedown before you apply, as it doesn’t bond well to “dirty” clear coat and you can get patchy spots that are much more hydrophobic than the rest. Good prep work goes with any wax really, but the really high performers make poor preps much more apparent.

Would love to see oldie but goodie Collinite 845 thrown in the mix. Got the UHD in a bundle with the UHD wash for £36 from Halfords in the after Xmas offers. (As others have mentioned). I’d been watching a huge amount of your content but now I realised I actually had no decent products. We are talking a gallon of turtle wax wash and wax, some of the ebay Chinese ‘3M’ clay, a dodgy sealant from about 5 years ago from ebay and some SRP (it has its place on my old cars). Got to say that I’d been planning on getting the ancient rotary polisher out at some point.......but....and this is my point. The UHD wash and wax got my cars so clean and shiny I was blown away, so much of an improvement over old school cheap retail stuff. I don’t think I had ever properly waxed a car up to that point, easy to use and not super critical of prep. Properly clean, dry and waxed for me is where its at...in fact I think you should go back to basics sometime. Clean, mask small flaws and wax from a retail type combo of kit on the typical older car.

I also use various other Bilt and Hamber products after one of your 'Special Reviews' and love the economy of their degreaser 'Surfex.' Great idea this test. I always ignore what’s sold in Halfords to a certain degree so nice to see these results. It would have been great if the Turtle Wax was a shock top performer but not surprising that UHD won. It’s always had a great reputation. Thing is some like BH Double Speed Wax will perform so well for £15 incl decent mf and applicator. Then there’s Imrans ceramic wax.

Hi Jon, I use Autoglym on my X3 and really like it. I have Collinite 845 on the Audi on top of Menzerna power lock. Difficult to say which I prefer other than the Autoglym has been on for 6 months and still beads really well. I prefer to use a sacrificial layer on top of my waxes so use Bead Maker on the X3 and am trying out Bouncer's Done & Dusted Si on the Audi. Once again good info in your videos, thanks👍

New to detailing for about a year, I m still experimenting. Having tried the Turtle Wax Hybrid Sealant Hydrophobic Wax spray the result and value to me was mindblowing. I thought the same result and value might apply to their wax. It doesn't. Only buy this is you like buffing. Like REEEEALLY like buffing. Or want a good 60min upper body workout. On a Fiesta. Collinite 476s. Excellent value and excellent durability. Especially good against salty winter conditions. 11 months is the best longevity I have gotten out of it.
Finish kare 1000p. Good value and heat resistance. Bad against salty winter conditions.
Fusso F7. Easy 7 months through the winter. Rear and sides were nearly gone but the rest still had a good amount of original properties left.
    CG Jetseal. Easy +6 months.
Lots of waxes/sealants make it to 4-6 months but those three can handle more in my experience.

    Excellent video as always mate!!
I've used the Meg's Ultimate paste wax a few times before. I too was disappointed with the water behaviour, which started off 'okay' and died off after a single wash. But as you showed it's a very glossy wax. I still use it as a sealant from time to time but it always gets topped with something like a detail spray or somthing like Beadmaker.
However, within these sort of price categories I always turn to either Fusso Coat if I'm in the mood for beading, Collinite 476S as the 'old reliable', or Bilt Hamber Double Speed wax for the gloss and water behaviour. They all end up getting topped with something like Beadmaker, BSD, QED or somthing else after a couple of weeks as I just can't resist spending time with a plush microfiber and an excuse to spray something on the clear-coat 😅
    Thanks as always,
    Jason

@@TheFazer1992 I would imagine that Beadmaker would make an excellent topper for Fusso Coat, especially as the hydrophobicity of Fusso Coat will likey show through the Beadmaker, while maintaining that super slick feel you get with both products.

I've got quite a few different waxes but I tend to use Fusso more than anything. Not the easiest of waxes to apply but it's durability is outstanding.

I used to have a lot of conntact with Autoglym wax and yes, it is durable, but otherwise quite picky depending on the car. Some where turning out great, other had dark spots. I'd say it's good for pearl paints and in good shape paints (no deep scratches, not bone dry). Also since it lasts, every application after first is easier.

For great appearance its awfully hard to beat Collinite 845, Insulator Wax. Excellent wax that is easy to apply and lasts a long time. Very affordable. I top it with Beadmaker as needed. This combination works great together and Beadmaker can be applied to every material on the outside of the vehicle. Very slick and looks wonderful.

It'd be great to see you review some of the EZ Car Care products out now - they almost all seem fantastic value, and some of their products (such as their glass cleaner and spray-and-rinse sealants) are almost suspiciously good!

    1. Your not stupid. Best RUclips account for detailing related views and reviews.
    2. I like the straight to the point manner of this video seems different from past reviews.
    3. I'd love to see you do budget end waxes reviews like this but also do reviews on the bigboys/stupidly priced waxes. ( mitchel and king / odk and so on.
    4. Two waxes I'd love to hear your views on too is Infinity Wax Primo and Power maxed Tsunami.
Both of which would probably hit you up a freebie to test.
    Nice review anyway
    Best out there cheers

legend thanks paul. Im gonna do like 5 detailing scene or ya know, not halfords brand waxes soon. I think 5 cheap ones. double speed, in2detail crystal, kiammi, 2 other ones. Then I think perhaps like 5 paste waxes that are supposed to offer real pipe hitting durability. Tsunami I want to get some. I know it Ive had it and played with it, I just didnt realise the durability claim of it, It like to explore that more. I have 5th element which has strong durability. so perhaps like 3 others.

Great review! I tend to think of value as being a combination of quality, performance AND cost. Cheap waxes might look like good value but the biggest investment is surely in the hours of cleaning, application and buffing. If one is more expensive but shines and beads for months makes my car easier to clean - I’ll take that over a cheap price tag where I’ll be underwhelmed with a couple of weeks. I’ll give the AG a shot and see how it fairs against my staple Colly 845 👍

    • @ForensicDetailing
      @ForensicDetailing  5 лет назад +1

its a lot easier to use than 845 for sure. but you will notice how 845 hardens off rock hard, when things to that it usually means their durability is good. (not always though)

Would love to see a full shopping list with the top 3 in every part of the wash and polish test you make. i considering to give my Mercedes a go. Ist 16 years old and have 400.000km on the clock. It's black with a deep dark metalik green shade to it. So it would be nice with a "shopping list for starters"

I don't use paste waxes anyone. I've gone to spray waxes. I've never felt like the durability of traditional waxes was that great, so I wash my car once a week and I wax it with spray wax once a week. It's quick my car looks great and it's protected.

Same, and more forgiving in my opinion. By that I mean, no need to clay first, no need to worry about rubbing in to spread (and potentially marring if you haven't clayed/polished before). And if you use one that can be applied while drying, way quicker.

I tend to use EZ Car Care and Nano Labs. Their ceramic wax is pretty great.
What would you recommend though for a hand polish to remove swirl marks as I’ve tried Poorboy’s SSR-2 and it hasn’t gotten rid of them though it gave a good shine?
    Lengthy question but thank you!

I’d like to see a test carried out to see if different wax’s or drying aids actually attract more dirt in the first place. From years of waxing my car, and more recently using AG Polar Seal I’m convinced they do.

Great content as always. We have AG UHD here in Canada at the Canadian Tire chain of stores, a bit pricey though. I've got two tubs of Collinite on the go, a 476 and a 915 for my darker color cars and I love them still, would be interesting to see how they compare to AG UHD. Do you have access to Collinite where you are?

I have always Used Turtle Wax paste. I’ve always debated on finding a “better” paste wax but the only reason I would try to find a better one is because it’s so cheap. But cheap doesn’t define this paste wax. I can’t find anything that holds it gloss and feel like this paste wax but I’ll be trying meguiars. I’m 29 and I’ve been waxing my cars since I was 17 with this 5-9$ paste wax! Loved seeing it scored #1 for value but might need to upgrade.
